3 Days in Southern Vermont

"In the winter, people travel from all over to hit the slopes at Stratton Mountain Resort, which has 97 trails and gets an average of 180 inches of snow annually. But even if you're visiting in the warmer weather, the mountain is still open. You can ride the gondola to the peak for breathtaking panoramic views of the Green Mountain range and surrounding valleys. 'Mountain Yoga' comes to Stratton every summer—you can take classes right on the summit."

Went to Dave Mathews tribute band and fireworks on the Saturday after July 4. Didn't stay overnight. The facility is very nice and well-kept. Band is average but the fireworks are outstanding. More than 35 minutes and well visualized. Best fireworks I can recall. Food Vendors close early.

Came for the day during off season. This place is fantastic! Lots to do, plenty of choices to eat, the most populated place of our trip yet not crowded. Price of lift was worth the views and could ride all day. Spectacular views going to the top and at the top. Photo ops and hikes were great.

Google
Consummate Vermont ski resort with striking mountain views and typical exercise related activity. The village at base lodge is quaint and has plenty of drinking and eating options. Music within the walking area many days bringing that apri-ski feeling to summer and fall months.

I went to the complex in 1980 and it had better slopes right away we could tell. The food and village are great with everything needed.

Went for the Frendly Gathering Festival. Staff was great. Shuttle was perfect. I had a great time! Room was clean. Luggage carts were handy.

Google
Saw a show for their summer concert series. We showed up a tiny (an hour+ ) bit late then my ohine died for the tickets. Had to go charge my phone for 20 minutes in the car. We ended up catching the last 30-40 minutes of a stellar performance by Badfish. It was awesome. The venue was easy to get to. The staff was so nice and helpful. I'll be back.

Google
First time staying at Stratton Resort at the Long Trail House. Overall, the stay was great. The staff within the Long Trail House itself were amazing and helpful. We have skied/snowboarded there for a few years now and love the mountain. However, upon arrival and check-in to the welcome center, the front desk attendant was extremely rude and unprofessional. She acted as though we were inconveniencing her asking her questions about the lodge. She did not give us specific instructions like most do when you arrive to explain where you park, what building your hotel is in, what room number you are, showing a map of the resort, etc. We had to go back a couple times to get clarification and, again, the same attendant became frustrated and extremely rude. The hospitality was not great for the welcome center in which was super disappointing.

Google
Stratton was awesome for skiing! We skied on Friday after some harsh and cold winds and a big storm that shut down the gondola. The lines that day were very crowded around the American Express taking all guests out of the base. However, the gondola was fixed later that day. The snow quality was pretty good and the runs were not particularly crowded. The mid mountain lodge was pretty full but nice to warm up in and have lunch. Stratton has a variety of different runs for different levels but it’s best for Intermediates. The mountain had a decent height and was overall really fun to ski down- Would definitely come again for a trip!

Yelp
Stratton village has a cute little vibe, dog friendly. Well maintained trails, lots of natural snow on the sun bowl side. Parking staff is efficient and chill, very kind. Mountain itself has nice runs. One of the best IMO in the southern mountains. Camping in the area in a rig there are a lot of options and not too bad to drive to on a powder day the next morning!

Yelp
The golf course is poorly managed and the pro shop staff namely Bill and Jeff are the cause. Save your hard earned money and go elsewhere. They do nothing to ensure a pleasant golfing vacation. They seem to only cater to the members. Stay away.

Yelp
The Safety and Ski Patrol are outstanding. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable, even when inclement weather conditions are present.

Yelp
Visted March 2024, about an 8hr drive from Ohio. Nice ski resort, though not exactly a difficult resort to snowboard. Good runs, some fairly long. The gondola is a real perk to move people up to the peak. The price is outrageous for 0 night time lifts. Snowshoe is just sightly cheaper but offers night boarding. Mid-mountain is nice, though $18 for chicken tenders and tots is nuts. Glad we checked this ski resort off our list. Its worth at least going once, but its a 1 and done for us from Ohio.

Yelp
Very popular mountain resort and my foray into skiing on the east coast. Unfortunately, my experience was cut short by an accident, as I fell wrong on my skis and injured my knee, but I would like to commend the ski patrol team for their kind and efficient service in getting me down the mountain safely in a sled and driving me to the free infirmary for basic care and assessment. The team was so friendly and made me feel comfortable during the whole experience. Someone sat with me in the back of the van to talk to me on the way to the clinic so I wouldn't be alone, and altogether, the team was calm, courteous, and reassuring. I felt like I was in good hands! Thank you.

Yelp
We had a great time visiting the resort area. Although we did not visit during ski season, we were there for the fall foliage. What a wonderful time we had. The resort area has plenty of small shops and restaurants to stop in and have a good time. We really enjoyed going in and out of the different places. We also took part in several of the festivities during Columbus Day weekend. We purchased tickets for the brew fest, chili cook off and the concert. What a great time had by all.

Yelp
I have been skiing at Stratton for over 20 years now, and never once have I ran into someone as rude as the woman at the welcome center when I went in to get my keys! She was rude and obnoxious, and when the girl at the desk was trying to help me she spoke over her, and was mean to her also. I was embarrassed for the young girl who had a beautiful accent, her manager was just plain disrespectful towards her, and totally unhelpful towards me! Utterly disgusting!

Yelp
Great staff. Stay away on weekends, lift lines and Gondola VERY long waiting times. Not worth the ridiculous price!!!

Yelp
This weekend was my first time visiting Stratton resort. I was there on Saturday January 27, 2024. We drove up from New Jersey to go snow tubing at Coca Cola tube park. I purchased 2 tickets for tubing from the customer service desk at the base of Stratton's Sun Bowl at 1:30pm on Saturday 1/27/2024. I was told when I purchased them that my tickets were for the 2pm time slot that same day. I was not given the tickets at the window. Instead I was instructed to walk over to the Tube park and get my tickets from the window counter. I arrived at the tube park at 1:45pm , fifteen minutes early for checking in. To my surprise, they could not find any record of my tubing purchase for 2pm. I waited patiently while he searched the computer. I provide proof of purchase receipt of the two tickets. And he had called the base desk at sun Bowl and spoke with the lady who had sold me my 2 tickets. He confirmed that she sold me 2 tickets. And went back in the system and found my information was incorrect. He told me that instead of tubing , I was sold climbing tickets?? And when I asked how we could resolve this issue, which was NO fault of my own, since I purchased these tickets from your ticket counter at Sun Bowl and I specifically asked for tubing tickets. Your employee who was working the ticket counter sold me the incorrect tickets. After 30 minutes of us patiently waiting to go tubing, he finally called a manager to resolve the issue. I was then told that the manager asked us to repurchase new tickets for tubing and afterwards that I should go back to the ticket desk at the Sun Bowl and request a refund for the previous tickets purchased.. How does that benefit the customer? That is an inconvenience to the customer. And no apologies or attempts to fix this mistake were made. This was handled very unprofessionally! And for that I am disappointed and writing this letter. I told both employees that I would be reporting this incident and that I would like a full refund of both tickets purchased and that I will NOT be visiting your resort ever again in the future. I was told it was an honest mistake, but then how come it took 30 minutes for a manager to be called, before I was told to purchase new tickets. By that time it was already past my 2:00pm time slot.

Yelp
Ok this mountain and resort are by far one of my top favorites!!!! Been here so many times and just never got around to leaving a review.... welll.... it's freaking time!!! So of all the times I been to this wonderful mountain I never really ate inside the mountains grizzly bar. This time I did and it's what sparked this review. The food there was awesome!!!!! Everything I ate was delicious and the service and bartenders make it all that much more enjoyable. Great job on wonderful service stratton mountain!!!! THe bar scene at grizzlys is super friendly and super welcoming I def enjoyed my time here. As for the mountain itself well it's still also one of my favorites! Plenty of terrain for all skill levels and very well managed lift lines and grooming. I must say I very few, of any, complaints ever about stratton. Stratton you have my heart and I can't wait to come back again!!!!

Yelp
this place is overrated. $167 a pass and it closes at 4pm doesn't have any lights. The an extra $70 to rent skies and its whole of bunch of guys there. I recommend going to Colorado or a small local mountain this place is not worth the money.

Yelp
Last year we bought Ikon passes so we can check out some dope Resorts around the country. We've always wanted to shred around Vermont, so we came, we done it and now I'm telling you all about it. The gondola goes all the way to the summit, so we started with that right off the bat. The top of the mountain is very windy, so we couldn't really do it for the gram. The slopes were nicely groomed. The lifts were very well maintained. Scenic views all around once the weather clears up a little. The staff is super attentive as well. Constantly reminding these "Other People" to keep their masks up while on line for a lift or inside the enclosed spaces. If you don't like it,, please stay home. The staff didn't wake up today to ruin your day just because you wanna give yourself a hard time. You refuse to wear a mask, they refuse to keep you there. It's that simple. Now go drive your giant pick up truck and take your real tree apparel with you. I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone. Specially the fact that they strictly adhere to CDC guidelines and resort mask policy. I felt at peace that belligerent "More American than I" people get put to their place. Where people who just want to "Follow the Rules" can be at ease that the resort has their backs. Thank you so much for reading my review. I hope this helps with your decision making experience. Enjoy your awesome yelptastic day!

Yelp
I purchased 6 ski classes on 11/25,11/26 and 11/27 to celebrate our thanksgiving. We arrived the ski resort around 8:30am on 11/25. The customer service and the ski school were closed. No notice. No email. No phone call. We had no idea what happened to the ski resort. Until I called the customer service number on the reservation confirmation email, I was told the classes had been canceled because of the weather. I totally understand the ski resort could be closed for the safety reasons but I couldn't accept they canceled the classes without any notice in advance. The staff said they had informed the customers by email on 11/22. No. She was lie. Please see the attached picture below. The cancellation emails had been sent "AFTER" I called customer service on 11/25. They didn't notice us in advance!!! They didn't notice us in advance!!! We drove more than 5 hrs to the ski resort and planed other activities to celebrate my husband's birthday after we dropping off our children at ski school. All of a sudden we had to change our schedule. We had to make any calls to look for other places to ski. The nearest open resort is about 1.5 hrs driving. We went there, spent 1 hr to purchase the lift tickets and rental tickets. My husband has all the ski equipments but he didn't bring them. Because the kids would go to ski school and we planed other activities for we two! Now, he had to buy the ski goggles and helmet again! Because the resort didn't have the goggles and the right size helmet for rental! So that we had to buy them again! Unfortunately, we didn't ski that day. They sold out the right size boots after we purchased the goggles and the helmet! It was holiday! Everything has to be planned in advance! We waited another half hour to return the tickets and drove another 1.5 hrs back to the hotel. It was holiday and we did nothing!!! If they noticed us in advance, we could plan other activities for thanksgiving. We could go Florida, Chicago,... we could cancel the hotel without any charges. Or we could book another ski resort. Even there are ski school, we could bring our own ski equipments and don't need to buy them again. But they didn't notice us in advance! The staff said that she could only refund the tuition. We don't satisfied about the solution, the staff promised that the manager would call us. It was 4 days, nobody called me! I also wrote email to them but no one response! It is hard for people to plan a vacation. Tickets, hotel, activities... everything should be prepared in advance. We were so excited for this vacation after 18 months epidemic! And then, we stayed in the hotel! This resort have very good facilities but their staff don't care about the interests of customers!

Yelp
Best place to bring you family for a great ski rides and great service. What I like the most is the people here they are so easy going, relax, and friendly.

Yelp
I come here at least once a month because my in laws own a condo. It is so beautiful here, and the staff are all friendly.

Yelp
About 5 hours from NYC and 4 from Boston, this ski resort makes it very convenient for the east coasters. It is big enough for advanced skiers while beginner friendly Ski lessons, rentals and repairs are available there. The resort village with all its shops and restaurants is quite pretty and family oriented. There are a wide of green, blues and blacks for all skills and levels The ski lifts, along with a gondola are quite fast and the lines even on a busy day move quite rapidly. There's also plenty airbnbs around and even a few hotels.

Yelp
As an elder I over estimated my abilities to ski with my grandson. Last time I skied was when Clinton was in office! OF I fell off. This is why octogenarians shouldn't be in the slopes! But the first aid service was outstanding. I should mention the wonderful gentleman who helped me, Carl!

Yelp
Never come on MLK or presidents weekend, or Christmas week unless you like waiting 45 minutes to get on the lift. The forecast is your friend. Fairly beginner mountain, but if you are reading this and are an expert, you already knew that. Some nice expert terrain too, but us locals try to keep the best spots secret.

Matt B.

Yelp
Poor experience this past weekend. Would not recommend to anyone looking to enjoy themselves and/or a good value. Here are the low-lights of the trip: 1. EXPENSIVE - Tickets for weekend skiing 189$ (200$ with taxes/fees) 2. WAITING IN LINE 20 minutes TO PICKUP PRE-PAID TICKET 3. ANCIENT LIFTS AND FACILITIES - For 200$, I'd expect newish lifts and facilities... or at least in much better shape... 4. DISORGANIZED LIFT LINES - Incredibly disorganized and SLOW! Ultra slow. 5. RUDE SKI PATROL - Poor attitudes. Totally aggressive. 6. PACKED (PROBABLY OVERSOLD TIX) - LONG LINES for EVERYTHING: lifts, restaurants, bars, cafeterias, ticket counters 7. NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO SIT AT BAR OR TABLE FOR FOOD 8. POOR CONDITIONS - Ice covering the mountain with seemingly a half inch of actual man-made powder. Few trails that prob should've been been closed to begin with. Maybe this place would be better during the weekday in terms of the lines and crowds, but everything else needs a lot of work before I'd spend time and money at this place....

George C.

Yelp
Decent mountain overall. Few years back used to have great food. Now it's as bad as the rest of the New England ski mountains. It wouldn't bother me that much but they still have the marketing collateral for the prior menu up. So you're told you're getting fresh beef hand formed patties etc but you're not. The Stratton Kids ski group is not led with any attention to safety. I was cut off while skiing by a little kid who almost caused a bad accident. My son was crowded into on a jump in the park by a kid who cut him off and into his line. Both times none of the adults watching the group stopped the kids to tell them what was safe and what wasn't safe behavior. Perhaps this was just a rare occurrence but it made me think all the family friendly pro safety stuff at Stratton was a bunch of marketing baloney. The mountain itself is kind of forgettable. Not bad but it doesn't have the charm of Sugarbush, the amazing layout of Mt Snow or the bigness of Killington. It's still a good mountain and a lot of fun, but the lack of a sincere safety ethos isn't great. I'd also like to say that post covid things have been tough everywhere so I'm sure the mountain is likely trying to be better and probably will improve the things that bother me about it.

Richard K.

Yelp
The golf courses were average. HOWEVER when we arrived we were told it was CART PATH ONLY. We had just called to make the tee time and no notice was given. We are seniors and flags for disability were not given. we will never return to Stratton Mountain Golf. PLEASE BE WARNED TO ASK BEFORE YOU GO.

Yelp
My n-th time to this place for snowboarding and it is completely worth it. The experience will be amazing and unforgettable. As far as my experience, here is what I have so far experienced at different times: - Bruised my knees, even with knee-pads on - Broken my left shoulder from a unexpected hard landing - Fell on my back and unable to move my legs on the ground for 15 mins. This is because I was going too fast and I unexpectedly caught on an edge in a black diamond trail - Landed on my helmet in a double black trail with mogul. That's why having a helmet is helpful and safe. It can protect you from concussion and head injuries - Landed onto the floor in Superman mode - Went down half of a trail on my ass - Got hit by a skier and he missed my shoulder by an inch. We both went down the black diamond trail and his equipment was left on top... - Ride too much to the point that the next day I was not able to walk properly because of soreness - And other countless experience... Those experience might sound crazy and dangerous, but they have helped me grow as a snowboarder. If it wasn't for those experience, I wouldn't be doing black and double black now. Here is a saying: No Pain, No Gain! Weekends are very crowded and not recommended. The wait line for the Gondola may take up to 15 mins. The best time to go for snowboarding would be weekdays. I have come here on Wednesdays and it is usually empty. My group had the whole mountain for ourselves on the weekday. You will get to enjoy the full width and length of the trails on weekdays. And you may be able to finish each trail in less than 5 minutes without the need of avoiding other ppl, the lines for the Gondola would be less than 3 minutes, and the lines for the lifts would be less than 2 minutes. The view at the summit is unbelievably beautiful when it is snowing. Everything is so white and pretty! After snowboarding there is a village right by the Ski Resort that consists of many shops like: Burton, North Face, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and others. There you get to chill and relax a bit and perhaps do some shopping and maybe do some equipment upgrade. Definitely worth the pain! In addition, it is more worth same day going to the mountain and same day coming back to New York City. It takes 4 hrs drive each way. For that you will need to head out around 330am and you will be home around 9pm depending on traffic. Overall, the pain is definitely worth it!

Yelp
Super disappointed. My first time here after listening to my boyfriend rave about his childhood winter vacations skiing and enjoying the views from the mountain. We planned to ski two days. Day 1 was great with two feet of snow dropping the day prior. But when we wrapped up, we couldn't even grab a bite to eat! The shops are closed and the village felt like a ghost town. We had reservations late that night but the afternoon was totally boring. The next day, we were unable to ski at all - I'm learning on the bunny hills and small greens and there were only 2 lifts running. No bunny hills or learning spaces were open - how does someone just learning to ski actually learn if everything is closed ? We weren't offered anything for the expensive lift ticket or rentals until I finally found someone to complain to. Again, everything in the village except one coffee shop was closed - we are so bored and disappointed we actually are leaving a full day early. Do not waste money or time coming here

Yelp
I went here for the first time a couple weeks ago on a Sunday and the bf and I couldn't have had a nicer experience. It had snowed the night before and morning of, and they have beautiful trails. The blue trails I felt can be a little deceptive, as they don't seem steep as you ride now, but you look back up and oh wait! You went down a bigger mountain than you thought. We loved the blue glades trails, and spent some time exploring the one to the far right side of the mountain (as you face it). The buildings are newly upgraded and beautiful...definitely some of the nicest buildings we've seen at ski resorts. You can see why Stratton is so expensive. That is of course why I've taken off a star...we could only go this time through our awareness days through the ski club we're part of, and this was the only day available. It's definitely not the place for a skier on a budget...but the trails and location make up for it!

Yelp
Horrible service!!!No rum service!!!staff is so rude and mean I was on the phone for three hours waiting for somebody to answer to get the crib in my room for my 2 1/2 year old ,and that does not happen my advice would be not to stay here you can't even order from the restaurants around you !Have to drive to pick up your food because nobody picking up the phones!!!!!

Yelp
This is pretty much my home mountain, so I am a bit biased. Skiing is great, but very crowded on holiday weekends. There are activities all year round. The brew and chili fest is a favorite. So much to do nearby - shopping, snow mobiling, trail rides, the quarry, emerald lake, Mt. Snow, Lake George 1.5 hours away....it is a great spot to stay to become a travel base for VT. Lift tickets are ridiculously expensive compared to other mountains - that's my biggest gripe.

Yelp
Came here for my very first snowboarding adventure over the course of 3 days. The first morning was a little annoying because I tried to book a snowboarding lesson and they said my credit card was being declined after swiping it 3x and manually entering my information. I got off the line and called my credit card company and was told the transaction did indeed go thru. After I hung up, I got back on line and told the woman who was helping me before. She had to call someone up from accounting and try to figure out what the problem was. Ended up doing a second transaction but the guy from accounting, C. O'Sullivan, was extremely helpful and gave me his information and told me to contact him after checking my statement for duplicate charges. As for the snowboarding lessons, I lost my instructor Ellie for about half an hour the first day because I slid all the way down the bunny hill. I got back onto the conveyor belt each time to get back to the top and found her on my fifth trip to the top. Ellie was very encouraging despite me using up all my time trying to learn toe/heel. It also was very tiring and painful after multiple self-induced crashes because I otherwise would've crashed into a bunch of little kids learning how to ski. The conditions were icy when I was there, so I came back to NYC with bruises, a sore behind, and was unable to turn my head to the left for a week. "No pain, no gain..." *sigh*

Yelp
Great resort for the family with an awesome little town at the base and plenty of trails!

Yelp
If you have an EV vehicle this is not a convenient destination. I communicated with Connor at the mountain and couldn't have been clearer requesting information about charging. Also spoke with numerous people at the mountain as of Feb 2020 they have two ChargePoints installed but they are not set up. I was told this was installed and running. We lost a day of our trip due to this lie. This place has the feel of a very local mountain attempting to compete in the new skiing market. Place is wrapped in a facade of newly minted high end appearances but the mountain experience is way down market. Prices are high but the staff attitude is atrocIous. If I lived within 20 minutes I can see using the mountain and valuing the "free" entry my icon pass provides. I would much rather pay and go to Killington and get a first rate experience with plenty of EV charging (for free) with people who are great at hospitality.

Yelp
We were staying with a group of friends in cabins nearby so we came to Stratton Mountain with our 5 goldens to ride the gondola and hike to the fire tower. There was a chili cook off, brewfest and live music going on which made the place a lot busier than I imagine it would be on a regular weekend in October but we had literally no wait to get on the gondola. I paid $20 for the 7 of us + pups to ride in 2 gondolas which was an awesome deal. Our golden was mesmerized watching the ground below him and being able to see for miles & miles and we came on the perfect weekend, the foliage was glorious. We hiked the fire Tower trail but unfortunately the line to go up was very long so we opted to head back to check out all the activities going on back at the lodge. Oddly enough this weekend there's snow at the top of the mountain so it's a good thing we came last Saturday. Looking forward to visiting again, I could literally ride that gondola all day.

Gio S.

Yelp
I wanted to shout out Jeremy, the coolest ski operator I know. Made sure me and my friends got our gondola together and was an entertaining homie to talk to while waiting. Give this man a raise!

Yelp
This has been my home ski mountain for 25 years. Since they were bought a few years ago things are changing. Some for the better some not. The early season pass we always got for our young kids for @$300 is still offered but they added in all the BS blackout dates which are exactly when my kids are there. Too bad as I would never pay for garbage like that. We will spend more time at Bromley this winter instead.

Yelp
Unique mountain village with cobblestone walkways and many shops and restaurants to choose from! The view from the lodge towards the mountain is absolutely incredible! It is an experience you will never forget!

Yelp
Stratton is a beautiful place. I have to say it has the best green trails for the beginners. I only learned to ski 3 months ago at Stratton ski school after moving to Vermont. We went to ski at Mt.snow and magic and I have to give Stratton the 5 stars on thr green trails. Saturdays are definitely very very crowded at the base area. Lines are long at the gondola but moves pretty quickly. Once you get to the top it doesnt feel crowded at all, Mikes Way and easy street are wide trails and you dont feel like you running into other skiers on busy days. I know Stratton is expensive but it's definitely worth every penny. My husband and I made the mistake to be cheap and go to other cheaper mountains in the area and realize that the green traila were more like blue trails for us. Thumbs up for Stratton.

Yelp
We've stayed at Stratton four or five times over the past few years (once in the summer, for a mountain top wedding, the rest in winter). This is a fantastic place, great for all levels of skiers, and also for non-skiers. We started going here because my wife doesn't ski, and this is the only place in southern Vermont with lodging and a village at the base lodge. So I can get up, go ski for as long as I like, and my wife can relax, walk the village or go for a drive and sightsee in the local area. As for the skiing, you can't beat it. There are trails for all level of skiers, from beginner to expert, and these folks REALLY know how to take care of those trails. The grooming is fantastic and the runs are excellent. My daughter, a cautious intermediate level skier, enjoys the "greens" from the mountain summit, and I love the blacks and double blacks. No matter what level skier you are, you will find runs that please you, and they will be in perfect condition. I have to add this - the resort staff are fanatical in their dedication to customer service. The Welcome Center folks are fantastic and will do whatever it takes to make sure you enjoy your stay. I give Stratton the highest rating. Go there! You won't be sorry!

Steven M.

Yelp
I want to give this one star based on an experience I had with the Stratton Ski school. Hopefully you'll never have to deal with Joe, he was abrasive and accusatory. I asked to speak to his manager who was Mary and she wouldn't even speak to me. They made a mistake and charged me for something we didn't do. Fortunately, the reason I'm giving this three stars instead of one is because Jeremy over in booking made it right. If you need to book lessons or anything else make sure to ask for Jeremy, he is excellent! I give him five stars and Joe and Mary one star.

Yelp
We had so much fun today on the AT. your. Julie was great and we had a lot of laughs! Even though one of our ATV's died it was still great!

Yelp
I would avoid coming to Stratton for skiing if I knew the parking is so far away and you have to ride the shuttle after parking. And the seats at the lodge need reservation and they only allow you to seat for 30 minutes even there are plenty of spare seats. They do not care about their customers apparently. I will not come back again.

Yelp
Good conditions. Lifts move quickly. Best glades skiing around. Staff aggressively enforces mask mandate (apparently unaware skiing is an outdoor activity). Prices are ridiculously high. $139 for a midweek lift ticket, $144 for a weekend day lift ticket, $4.50 for a bottle of water. Good mountain, but at the prices they charge, not a good value.

Yelp
This is my home mountain. Tallest in southern Vermont. All the amenities you look for in a resort. Restaurants, shopping, and lodging. Clientele is mostly from NYC, and you get a ton of regulars.

Yelp
If you have an EV, I'd recommend skiing elsewhere. Stratton only has 3 EV chargers for the entire mountain. I'd rather drive farther and go to Killington and ski on my Ikon pass because they have a TON of Level 2 and Tesla chargers, all for free.

Yelp
We bought tickets online to the Stratton mountain gondola ride. We get here and it's closed due to a wind delay. They have no idea when it will reopen. So now I'm out $48 because they refuse to issue a refund to me. I am not staying in this area, just passing thru so I am not going to stand around all day hoping this thing will reopen. Don't bother with this. If I could give this negative stars, I would. Update- after posting this review, I was contacted by someone from the resort. I was given a full refund. I'm only sorry we didn't get to take the gondola ride.

Yelp
This is by far my favorite mountain in the northeast. The mountain itself has incredible trails that are extremely enjoyable. They offer trails at all different levels so there is something for everyone. The mountain and trails are a ton of fun, no doubt about it. They are always blowing snow and really keep up with grooming during the season. Besides the mountain itself the village is beautiful and really gives the resort something extra special. The village is cute and filled with a bunch of shops and restaurants to choose from. There's something for everyone here, do a few(or a lot) of runs, grab a drink at grizzlys, some nachos at mulligans and check out the Burton store, sounds like a perfect day to me!

Yelp
The staff here at Stratton ski and the Long House are the most accommodating. They aim to please. From the front desk to the top of the summit. They have always made it a 5 star holiday weekend for us. Their hospitality is beyond the tops. Their bit of flexibility when accommodating their guest makes a world of difference. Keep it up and people when speaking to the staff be sure to thank them twice. It will only make it a better and better experience. Update at 4:15pm Saturday returning from town and sightseeing we found a voucher at our door for a complimentary extended stay until 4pm Sunday afternoon....???!!!???..

Yelp
Yesterday we drove from MA to visit the snow castles and we have to say that our experience was mixed. We ended up driving around Stratton for at least 15 minutes looking for the ice castles and as Morgan D said in his review, signage was terrible. The ice castles themselves were ok, but we have seen others at competing resorts that were much more elaborate. The cost to see these castles was actually too high for the end result, but we took some nice photos throughout the exhibit. In the end the castles were blah, but the beauty of the mountain and the staff here were incredible. We ate in their cafeteria in the SunBowl which had delicious Mexican food. We hope that the next time we come here we can snowmobile or just hang out in one of their gorgeous cabins.

Yelp
Large mountain for skiers of all abilities from beginner to expert. Lift attendants were friendly and the slopes were not crowded at all. Mostly locals were at the slopes and were all very kind. Lodge was slightly crowded but not overwhelming. Overall the mountain was very clean as-well. Although I didn't rent friends of mine did and were satisfied. Rental staff was helpful and skis were all Rossingnol in great condition. The college discount for lift tickets is amazing and well worth it!

Yelp
Went for a day trip on January 12, 2019 and was very disappointed with the conditions. The mountain was skied off by lunch time with sheets of pure ice on most trails. I'm an avid skier and love the sport. When it's 0 degrees at the summit I do expect the snow guns to be going the night before. At $125 a day I think that's not unreasonable! When you cheap out it def shows!

Yelp
I took my eight year old here for her first time skiing ever. Overall I think this is a good mountain for kids to learn how to ski. They have a very easy/primitive bunny slope where anyone can get their feet wet. After that there is a longer run with a caterpillar conveyor belt. This is really great for young skiers to build their confidence. So what is bad? First off the place didn't have any poles to rent. WTF? Beyond me how you run out of poles. We were able to rent skis boots and helmets. We had to buy poles for three people which was 150 bucks. Damn. Equipment sans poles and three lift tickets ran more than 400 bucks making this place quite pricey. Crowds were absolutely mental. Amazing to me how so many people were there. It was however a time when schools were off. Chairlifts ran well and slopes were well maintained and very suitable for skiing.

Yelp
Hands down awful. I am an avid skier and appreciate what it takes to make a great mountain experience. Stratton is lacking in pretty much every category. On a recent Saturday at 1:00 pm, the line to order food at the mid-mountain lodge/smokehouse was 30 minutes. When I arrived at the front of the line, I was informed that they were out of most meats and was offered two selections. No sorry, just take it or leave it. The cafeteria at the sun bowl had a pathetic selection as well. The attitude of the cafeteria staff was similar to those of other workers. Lift attendants were uniformly unfriendly. No hellos, there ya go's or any convivial banter to be found here. For a lift ticket that cost $105, I'd hoped for a high end experience. Instead, this mountain has inadequate facilities, surly staff, and utterly average skiing. When I politely mentioned my disappointment in the food service to a staff member at guest services, she shrugged and stated that they "get a lot of complaints about the food." Okay, so how about you do something to improve it? There are FAR better and less expensive mountains to visit nearby. Do yourself a favor and don't enable these creeps with your patronage.
