Local St Mary's legacy brewery joins the craft beer generation in style. The Straub Brewery, founded in 1872 has surely served a lot more beer than any new generation craft brewery. The fact that they've been able to survive 150 years, long enough to become part of the craft beer wave of the last 40 is remarkable. The Straub Tap Room & Visitors Center is a wonderful place to hang out. Large outdoor patio and a terraced picnic area adjacent makes for a great place for special events, picnics and other gatherings of family and friends. The food menu is very unique, an assortment of German crafted sandwiches and specialties, great appetizers, sandwiches, wraps, salads, etc. The beers are updated German styles, also samplers, as we'll as pounders and growlers to go. The party cocktails and mocktails round out a real nice beverage menu. Hopefully, I'll do the brewery tour this week. I visit St. Mary's only infrequently, but I'll certainly take the opportunity to visit whenever I'm in town.
