Stray Neighbour Restaurant & Bar Preston

What a lovely little venue. Went to watch the footy with some mates and my 2 month old. Food was beautiful, staff & service very lovely and overall good vibes. I had the schnitzel with herbed butter and I reckon I could eat that every day. Will definitely be coming back to work my way down the food & beer menus.

The food was delicious and full of flavours. The restaurant was not overly busy but unfortunately the mains took a really long time to get to the table. Staff did everything to make us comfortable but the kitchen seems to be running behind.

I searched for burgers and steak in this area and this restaurant comes up, thought I give it a try. This restaurant do not have their name outside so took a while to find the place. A table of 6, a disappointing lunch for us, half of the specials are sold out, no burgers nor steak. Started w fries and foccacia. Was very bland and dense. Chicken parmigiana was below average , some sad salad no bacon, s alty topping and sauce. Basically red sauce on top of a soggy chicken. Whole fish at $42, comes with salad n fries, again tasting average. Gnocchi w pinenut and lotsa sauce,was OK, but kids didn't like it all. Overall wasn't the most enjoyable lunch. Staff was nice and helpful. Took a while for Mains to be served. This place is more suitable for drinks and casual bar catch up kinda place. Personal taste preference, I don't think I will recommend nor be back.

The place and staff were really nice. They didn't really have many options on the menu. I ordered the gnocchi which was kind of underwhelming as it wasn't a big serving and definitely did not fill me up at all! And there also wasn't much of an atmosphere, especially for a Saturday night.

Exceeded my expectations by far. The entire menu was absolutely delicious from the lychee cocktails to the yuzu labne focaccia to the lamb shoulder and vodka gnocchi. I couldn’t fault any of the flavours though the pasta was a little cold when it got to the table. The bread was on a complete other level of perfection to the point we had to order more despite being incredibly full. The butter it comes with is also insanely tasty. Highly recommend

A cool Wednesday night catch up with friends. The inside fire was amazing. The place is large but was warm. My food was delicious and was served quickly. I had the ricotta gnocchi so good. The table waitress was awesome. Being local we love trying our local spots and all of us were thrilled.

Really cute restaurant and bar, wonderful floor staff! Food was, pretty steep for pub classics that lacked the execution you might expect. Presented well, but a very uninspired salad with plain shoestring fries. Parma itself was fresh, crisp and well dressed, but alone was not enough to justify the near 40 dollar price tag. Short, but curated drinks list, with a selection of good wines that don't break the bank.

So surprised by this place. The food was INCREDIBLY tasty and, for once in 2025, I get to write the words "great value". A set menu for $65, a rich variety of chef curated dishes, constructed with care. Great variety of wines and cocktails, beautifully ambient low light atmosphere with background music not too loud, and impeccably friendly attentive service. Couldn't fault Stray Neighbour. Don't change a thing. You've nailed it.

Visited 11 August and it was the worst service I have ever experienced. We booked a 7.30pm table and weren't told the kitchen closes at 8pm. About 10 minutes after ordering entrees and drinks one of the waiters came over and told us we had to order our dinner as the kitchen closed at 8pm for deep cleaning. After rushing our orders the food arrived and it was just about edible. It also took 15 minutes and several reminders to get the drinks ordered. The restaurant was quiet so should not have taken that long. The staff were rude and the service poor. The restaurant was supposed to close at 10pm and they took last orders for drinks at 9.15 and the staff were walking around in their coats from 9.30. I will never visit this restaurant again.

Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. We had the scallop and leek/gruyere croquettes. Loved the croquettes but the scallops were a little bland. The pasta special was orecchiette with pork/ fennel sausages and broccoli. It was delicious. We had hazelnut macaron, coffee poached pear and gingerbread ice-cream for dessert. It was nice and we liked that it wasn't overly sweet. They have a great range of drinks to choose from as well. This place has a good atmosphere and the staff are really friendly. Look forward to coming back.

Spacious place to hang out in Preston which has more of a trendy vibe than anywhere nearby. LOVE: the $15 beer paddles Not so keen on the uncomfortable chairs and poor use of space in the outdoor area Doesn't seem to be open that much so check out the hours before planning a visit

Went here in a large group -- 12. Prebooked and preordered. Waited 90 mins for any food. When it arrived, it was lovely. Not a busy night, plenty of staff. Not impressed.

Great atmosphere and gorgeous food at Stray Neighbour, I will definitely go back for more!
