"If you’re missing Toronto’s Momofuku Shoto or can’t get to Ko in Manhattan, Vancouver’s Street Auntie Aperitivo House is the next best thing. This tiny, sleek Chinese restaurant set around an open kitchen has arrived on the West Coast by way of Beijing, where owner Yuyina Zhang ran BMK at The Courtyard with the English Michelin-starred chef Brian McKenna."

Great experience and loved the decor! We did the dinner tasting menu, and were generally impressed! Dessert was our favorite part for sure. The entrees were well presented, good concepts though lacking in flavour. Fusion is difficult, but I appreciate restaurants like Street Auntie for attempting the bold! Looking forward to visiting again next time we're in town.

Went a few weeks ago for their summer tasting menu for my dad's birthday. Had been looking forward to trying Yunnan fusion food, but I guess our expectations were a little too high because the food was unfortunately very disappointing. The decor had solid instagrammable moments, and the shopping wall was a good idea, but our table was placed way too close to that wall, which was very awkward people wanted to have a bit of a browse. Our tasting menu started with a beautiful plate of thinly sliced cured duck, which was unfortunately not as tasty as it looked. In our second course, the salmon was overcooked, although the onion consomme poured over the rice was really delicious. The third course of asparagus was nothing special, although granted if it was a home-cooked meal and not the third course of an expensive tasting menu it would probably have been pretty good. The fourth course came in a gorgeous traditional lidded bowl, and the sablefish was incredibly smooth and silky, props for the excellent freshness! The broth itself had a fantastic kick, but the noodles had a distinctly cheap mass-produced texture which didn't live up at all to the weight of everything else. We sprung for the extra uni dumplings, but the steamed uni absolutely did not play well with the pork filling. Very disappointing, and not at all worth the top-up. The deep fried quail was... not at all crispy for having been fried. It was lightly smoked, which was very interesting, but the special plum wine sauce was about as fancy as the little packets of plum sauce from any chinese bbq place. The dessert was beautifully presented, but like the duck, it looked a lot better than it tasted. The cubes of premixed mango pudding mixed into the pu-erh jelly was confusing, and oddly enough we were given a single bamboo forest match mousse cake and a single chocolate lion with yuzu filling for two people to share, which is really not the most covid-friendly option. We didn't hugely mind though, because both the matcha mousse and the (admittedly grgeously moulded) chocolate lion were really very grainy in texture.

This is one of the first times I have tried Asian fusion food. The environment here is amazing, strongly resembling a home. Food here strongly resembles both Asian and Western cuisine, and is very unique and delicious. We had the dinner tasting menu this time, and it consisted of multiple courses. The first few courses were not filling, which was perfect as the last course consisted of an entire fried quail. Overall, this was an amazing restaurant.

One of Canada's 100 Best restaurants for 2021, this restaurant located on the Granville strip is unassuming yet when you walk in you immediately know you are going to get drawn into a fun Asian culinary experience. While the dinner menu is extensive, we dined for lunch with a flavour packed value meal combo that took us through an amazing journey of flavours and textures. The first course with the green Curry Soup, beef Slices with chilli sauce, and mango salad were a light start. Cool, crunchy, soft, creamy, smooth, and light were just some of the many words to describe the delicious start. This was followed by a heavier yet well portioned bowl of pork belly fried rice. Well seasoned and not oily as the pork belly bits helped to create the fat profile needed for fried rice was so good and addictive. A surprise dish of fried chicken was brought out to try and the batter was light and airy while the house made hot sauce was so good that I could have drank a bottle! Finally a special dessert was created due to our dietary restrictions in the form of a tea jelly. This brought down the meal perfectly as it was light and refreshing and cleansed our palates from the previous dish. Can't wait to go back!

Such an incredibly innovative experience of the taste of Chinese street food fusion. This tiny dining establishment is in a rougher part of Granville. We walked by it twice and still had a hard time finding it. But once you do walk in, you're in store for a super dining experience. The food was immaculately prepared and each dish was delicate, visually stunning and came with a beautifully described story around how it was developed. You know they take their food seriously when you hear about how the changing menu takes so much time to craft. Yunnan street food brought to the table with such beautiful creativity and subtle nuances flavors. We came here only because another reservation fell through but we are so glad we did. It was a blessing in disguise.

We decided to try Street Auntie after hearing about their unique take on Asian cuisine - and the food was a pleasant surprise! Despite not being able to dine in, we ordered online through their website, and the food was promptly prepared by the order time. Food was still hot when we arrived home, and they were packaged according to the different meal sets we ordered. I highly recommend their dimsum trio, and their braised duck - it is as authentic as it gets, if not tastier! I thought the fried noodles tasted a tad seasoned, but otherwise the wok hei was there (check Uncle Roger if u don't know what I'm talking about). Overall, given the quality of the takeout, I will definitely return to try their restaurant experience once the pandemic eases up.

The food and dining experience here I found was very unique and I enjoyed every part of it! I appreciated the amount of effort put into the food and all aspects of the restaurant. We ended up taking some desert to go afterwards and enjoyed it later at home. Again, I was WOWED by the different flavors bursting through each bite, it was a wonderful reminder of our earlier experience that day at Street Auntie! Will definitely recommend to friends and will definitely return again!

From the moment you walk through the door, you know that you're in good hands. The menu is both familiar and innovative at the same time. The flavours are subtle and balanced while also packing a punch. You leave feeling satisfied and like you had a special experience despite the relaxed vibe. It's also a refreshing change to see a female run kitchen. Chef/Owner Yuyina Zhang has gifted Vancouver with a gem of a restaurant.
