Yelp
My boyfriend and I were searching for the perfect restaurant for my birthday dinner. Well, ANY restaurant, really. I happened to have $25 in Restaurant.com credit, and Street Restaurant caught my eye, so it was settled. Needless to say, I was disappointed.
First, the food. We ordered a variety of food, starting with the Brussel sprouts and wontons, both of which were recommended by our waitress. The wontons tasted like something I could have pulled from my freezer, boiled, and dunked in soy sauce. They were slightly undercooked and did not have a special "Street Restaurant zing" to them. The Brussel sprouts were flavorless, which was surprising, considering how much cheese and chili paste were thrown on them. It was the vegetable itself that was not infused with flavor.
For my entree, I ordered the black truffle ravioli because it sounds amazing. It was also tasteless. I'm very stubborn about adding any salt or pepper to my food at restaurants, because I feel like it should already have sufficient seasoning... but I desperately needed salt to finish that dish. My boyfriend said I should include some constructive criticism about the food in my Yelp review, but that's really all I can say about it. The ribs that he ordered were saved by the spicy BBQ sauce they were marinated in but they, too, were dissatisfying.
For a restaurant that looks super upscale and classy, I was excited to try this new place, and I'm usually very forgiving. But we ordered quite a variety of food, and my experience with all the dishes was the same. I was especially looking forward to the peanut butter ice cream that I heard so much about, but I was not ready to be disappointed about DESSERT.
I'm not sure why this place has so many high reviews, but I certainly will not be coming back here or recommending it.
