"Strikið, one of the finest places to dine in Akureyri, is spread out betweentwo dining rooms on the fifth floor of an office building. The restaurant’s menu—created by owner and head chef Robert Hasler—features traditional Icelandic dishes such as lamb shoulder and seafood soup as well as modern fare such as sushi and reindeer burgers. The terrific food is matched to wonderful views of the fjord and mountains from huge picture windows and, on the long sunlit nights of summer, from an outdoor terrace."

We had a great dinner here! Great writers who gave us some good recommendations and the place and the atmosphere itself was great. Get their Falafel with their Surf and Turf sushi as an appetizer, both of those were excellent. Their bread and their butter they had was very good. All in all, we had a great fulfilling lunch here and highly recommend this place for sushi and for some dinner in the town!

Definitely worth it if you’re gonna spend some extra to enjoy a beautiful meal and a beautiful place. The four of us two vegetarians and two meat eaters. While the vegetarian selection is slim, it is definitely here. The burger and the lamb were fantastic. Cocktails were tasty not too sweet. Service was the only thing that needed a little something something … we waited a long time to have our order taken.

We came here during Friday lunch time and surprised to find out that they offer buffet at 3990 per person. This is amazing deal, food quality is great! Salmon sushi, lobster maki, lamb chop, Char-everything is tasty!

We made a reservation and the food was spectacular. The salmon was so fresh, and juicy, and the sauce and flavors added to the taste, that might presumably be the best salmon I’ve ever tasted. The sushi was also great, we ordered the Langoustine and can recommend. Cocktails were fresh as well!

Went to this restaurant on a whim. Did not realize that it was probably the most expensive place in akurari. That being said the service was good 👍 but the meal was excellent 👌 Highly recommend the perch

Exceptional food. Very extensive wine menu as well. I recommend the three course meal, but everything was great.

No doubt that you have to ask the locals to get to the best restaurant in town. We're glad this was recommended to us by our hotel concierge. The food was delicious, service was great and the atmosphere was so cozy. It was so busy and packed when we arrived so we have to wait a while to get our seat. Hence, I suggest making a reservation in advance to avoid disappointment. We tried their course meal and it was so satisfying. We were so full that we couldn't finish the dessert. Anyway, it was worth it.

We had a delicious meal here. The views over the harbour from the top floor restaurant are stunning and this definitely has a fine dining feel to it. The staff here were very attentive and helpful. We started with complimentary bread and chilli butter which was delicious. The bread was soft and fresh with a crunchy outer crust. For staters, I had the tempura cauliflower sushi (2,490kr / £14) and my mum had the arctic char (3,990kr / £22). These were good. For mains, I appreciated that there was an option to try traditional Icelandic potatoes and pickled vegetables, but with tofu rather than meat or fish. This was packed with flavour, including a fresh pesto and pumpkin puree. This was 5,690kr / £32.50 which feels expensive and is by far the priciest main I’ve had on this trip (even by Iceland standards!). My mum had the salmon which came with similar accompaniments and was a good portion. This was 7,490kr / £42, so similarly pretty expensive. Overall I’d say that the service, ambiance and food here was really good. However, considering the price, we ate better and more affordable meals elsewhere.
