Strindbergsmuseet

One of the smaller museums in Stockholm is the Strindberg museum, which is located at the far end of the shopping street Drottninggatan, and it is housed in the late laureate's apartment in a building from the early 1900. The museum begins with a tour through his apartment as it was when he lived there and then continues throughout the different periods in his life and focus on different areas of his views. There is also a small cinema showing documentaries about his life. Overall a small but interesting museum for a rainy day, the museum will take about an hour to go through if you spend some time at the exhibits

Great museum on the Swedish author and playwright August Strindberg. The residential building is amazing in itself with a working ornate art deco lift and stairwell. The museum is split into two sections. One half explores Strindberg's work and life (with space for temporary exhibitions), while the other half is a restored museum of the beautiful apartment he spent the last four years of his life in. There is also his reconstructed library on the sixth floor. My only complaint is that there were not sufficient enough English translations, with only one per section and not for individual items.

This is really a "specialist" museum dealing exclusively with the life and work of August Strindberg. I confess to knowing nothing about this guy before visiting the museum, but I learned alot from my visit and it is a very worthwhile museum. This guy was a prolific novelist , playwright and essayist as demonstrated by the chronological display of his works at the beginning of the museum. This place not only houses the museum dedicated to his life, but also the apartment where he lived for the last four years of his life. It's a bit of a walk away from the main tourist attractions in the central part of Stockholm, but a little gem. Look out for his writing desk in the apartment where he wrote some of his works. I actually walked past this place without realising it. Quite dircreet, you enter an apartment block and take the lift to the fourth floor

Cramped and small. Interesting but not much to see. I saw both floors of the museum which is 2 old apartments and it took me less than 15 min. Still worth a short visit.

Very comprehensive. Lived the apartment especially the sound effects. Lots of info, nicely presented. Lots in English and booklet

A small Museum that shows not only a biographical-historical of the author's life and work. You can you choose individual topics and controversial viewpoints. Finally, the museum presents the historical rooms in which Strindberg lived until his death.

Interesting place where you can learn a lot about August Strindberg. You can actually visit one of the apartments where he was living.

up four flights of stairs, wasn’t very clear signage but the actual museum was very nice. perhaps more english writing as i struggled to understand some of the exhibits
