Strudel House Budapest, Első Pesti Rétesház

If you want to try traditional Hungarian food, then the Strudel house is a good place to start. The Hungarian taster is a 3 course meal with a chicken strudel with shipped sour cream to start, goulash as main and traditional strudel pudding. All very tasty. Really good value. The restaurant decor is unique. Recommend ☺️

I had a wonderful experience at Strudel House in Budapest. The atmosphere was incredibly pleasant, with a beautifully decorated and cozy interior that made the visit even more enjoyable. The food was excellent, and the strudels were simply delicious—freshly prepared right in front of us! The staff were very friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome throughout our meal. If you’re in Budapest and looking for a great place to enjoy authentic strudels and local dishes, I highly recommend Strudel House. It’s definitely worth a visit!

This was out perfect start of the New Year 2025.01.01. One of the best lunches in Budapest. We were 4 + a small dog( pet friendly 👏). Near 1 pm, was a small queue, we waited 10 min and we had the best table, with delicious Hungarian dishes( if possible book in advance).We ordered the duck leg with potato strudel and cabbage in prune, the Hungarian fish soup, the classic goulash soup, and the roasted leg pork with oven potatoes and pickles. Very nice staff.Highly recommended!

This was a lucky find when our initial choice was fully booked. The strudel was amazing with a great choice. We had beef strudel and chicken strudel to start. One of us had the menu with a hearty delicious goulash soup. We tried the sour cherry & chocolate, apple and raspberry strudels all were amazing. Definitely recommend a visit.

We recently visited Strudel House Budapest and had an amazing dining experience! For our main courses, we tried the steak and duck. The steak was incredibly soft and flavorful—truly a standout dish. The highlight, however, was the strudel. We opted for the sour cherry one, and it was a taste of heaven! If you enjoy a hint of sourness, this is an absolute must-try. The servers were polite, attentive, and very helpful, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this place for both the food and the excellent service. We’ll definitely be back!

The best strudel we've ever had. All varieties, not just dessert. We had the salmon strudel and the vegetable strudel. Both were excellent. We had the apple strudel for dessert and it was the best we've ever tasted. There is seating inside and out. Inside you can watch the strudel being made. It's definitely something to see. It was a highlight of our trip.

Overall extremely delicious food, well seasoned and great portions. Great to get a taste of different strudel variants, but also traditional savoury meals (incl. Goulash). Very beautiful interior. Only reason for 4 stars, is that the offered spirit aperetivo at the end gets added to the bill. Should have been indicated that this is not on the house, as often is the tradition. If you only have a night or two in Budapest, definitely worth a visit!

We weren't sure were to go for our last meal in Budapest. I'm glad we went here! The food was outstanding, myself, my brother and my mum decided to give it a go. We were not disappointed. Friendly staff and amazing food. Definitely worth a go 👌
