One of the wackest "attractions" I've ever visited. Its hard to imagine the university once had the authority to lock up its students for minor misdemeanours like public drunkenness and taunting cops. I assumed that majority of the past "inmates" would have been student activists, and some were, but it turns out that most were just regular silly buggers! Love the wall art they left behind for us to explore though. A truly unique experience that I couldn't miss while in Heidelberg, but others may not find it so interesting or worthwhile.

Loved this quirky site. It has been really well preserved and although there aren't many rooms to look in, you can check out other areas of the university and it's history to make it a decent visit. Quite a few Nobel Peace Prizes as well as significant scientific discoveries have come out of the University of Heidelberg.

Nice place to feel the mood of the students at late 1890s and early 1900s. There are almost no explanations - the pictures and German poems, comments with jokes, sarcasm, and resentment are the contents that attracts you. If you don't understand German, no problem - take your smartphone and translate the german writings into your native language using google translation. And maybe remembering how you felt when you were in collage may help understanding the context. However, I believe people would appreciate if any explanations or pamphlets exist in other languages.

This student prison is famous for it's graffiti - you visit it together with the university museum. The museum itself describes the history of the university, which is the oldest one Germany. But understanding all the texts might be a challenge if you don't know enough German.

Well worth the 6 euros (or 4 on a Monday) to enter. Only a couple of rooms, but interesting insight into the past life of Heidelberg students.

Interesting and uncomplicating entry. Visiting time approx 20 minutes. English introductions and Infos partially available. Please dont touch the wall in order to preserve the art!

A total joy! These establishments need to be immediately brought to the USA.

Little to see if u can’t really read German. I wouldn’t pay to visit but went there because I had the tourist pass. However it’s nice that the city preserves such unique heritage
