On the Grid : Stuhlbergs

"It's hard to step into Stuhlbergs with anything but wide eyes. The downstairs of the boutique is packed floor to ceiling with fanciful toys, piles of stuffed animals and gifts for the home. Upstairs is a serious collection of stationery (including Rifle Paper Co. goods), as well as home and bath products." - MINT

Stuhlbergs is one of my favorite gift shops in Seattle! Their selection is great - lovely items for the home, children and a variety of personalities, interests and tastes, They carry everything from candles and stuffed animals to gift wrap, toys, books, spa products, jewelry, kitchen items, puzzles, photo frames and glassware. Some items are on trend and fun (the owner must really be on top of what is desirable and cool) and others are gorgeous, elegant keepsake-worthy choices. I have been shopping there for over a decade and return again and again. If you need a gift for practically anyone or just a treat for yourself, this should be your first stop!

Google
Surprisingly unfriendly staff for such a nice gift shop, where you’d expect it to lift your mood not the opposite. Upd: so I bought there 3 Botanica candles when they were in sale. This is what happens to them. I don’t feel safe. I firstly thought the only hard job is to enlighten them, but I guess now I just need to throw them away when they are half full ;(

The service attitude of the people in the store is very good, but surprisingly, the prices of Jelly Cat are much higher than those on the official website. I will not go there again. I was surprised when I saw the prices.

Google
Probably the most beautiful high-end gift store in Queen Anne with an impressive selection of quality, curated gifts, books, children’s clothing, etc. you can easily find s something for everyone here.

Jamie Lloyd

Google
Cute store with quality, unique items, but, unfortunately, one rude staff member can ruin the whole experience.

Kate Barker

Google
I absolutely adore this shop! I’ve found so many different kinds of gifts and knick-knacks here.

Will Cappon

Google
Good selection, my fiancee in particular loves going into this store when we walk by.

Google
Great selection for Jellycat plushee even for those very hard to find. I kinda wanna keep it under low but it will be too unfair to the store if I don't leave a good review.

Yelp
Warm and fuzzy holiday vibes all over. The people who work here are so sweet as well. All their stuff is so fun and there are so many options. I love this spot.

Yelp
Great store for gifts! I always find cute cards, stationary, and stuffed animals that I neither have space for nor need, but that inevitably end up in my home! Located in a house-looking building on Queen Anne it has windows all throughout the store and everything displayed makes you want to go in and admire it up close and personal. I'm always bummed when it's 6pm and I am walking by, realizing they are closed and I will have to admire from the windows. Don't forget to go upstairs - more goodies abound up there! Nice store associates are available to answer questions and help you find anything you may be looking for. Make sure you get here with plenty of time before closing time - there is certainly much to look at - inventory is always well stocked.

Yelp
Lots of cool stuff, but last time I was in there looking at all the overpriced kids toys, my young daughter told me she needed to use the bathroom ASAP. When I asked the staff if she could use the restroom and explained that it was an emergency, the two women behind the counter looked at each other, thought about it, and together told me I'd have to take her elsewhere-- they suggested the bookstore next door. Even though they have a staff bathroom in the kids section... The women who work here have always seemed sort of suspicious and unfriendly, even though I've bought many things there over the years, but I draw the line at going back when they won't let a kid use their bathroom. I'll go to Paper Source nearby.

Yelp
We love this place. When we need gifts or something special or a great gift for children it is our go to place. Bought some beautiful Christmas ornaments at a great price. Can't say enough about this place. I see some negative reviews but honestly we have never experienced any of that. Everyone has been lovely. Oh did I mention they wrap gifts with pleasure!!!

Yelp
How do you quiet your beating heart or still your spinning mind? These are the questions I asked myself upon entering Stuhlberg's yesterday. Megan's impeccable taste has me wishing I could just start all over and make my purchases exclusively from her store. Mouth-blown glass pitchers and gorgeously embellished ceramic plates, cream & honey jars, Parisian wrapping paper, the best selection of books and cards, a whimsical children's section with old-fashioned hot air balloons, the best in European toys, traditional books we or our parents grew up with, map puzzles, travel games, and eco-friendly lunch boxes. Don't think you know this store by the window display, in this case (as in all) it is what's inside that counts.
google avatar

Yelp
This little shop drew me in with their whimsical Christmas decorated windows at the front of their store. It has plenty of great options and a large kid's section with lots of unique gifts. I've only visited once but enjoyed my visit and would go again if I needed a gift and was visiting the Queen Anne area.

Yelp
The staff here has never greeted me when I have entered their store. I have gone in multiple times to look at their stationary and the last time they asked if I was planning on paying for card I was writing in, I had literally just purchased the card in front of her, when I have her my receipt she looked over it carefully and handed it back suspiciously. They are rude. Go down the street to Paper Source, that have the same stationary and are kind. Go down a couple blocks to Queen Anne Dispatch for children's toys, same stuff, treat you like a fellow person.

Yelp
I have mixed feelings about this store. They do have beautiful things. Glassware. Greeting cards and gift wrap. Bath towels, tea towels, stationary, soap. But as other customers have noted I never really feel warmly greeted or comfortable in this store. Also the prices are really high for what you get. I prefer Three Birds store a couple of blocks away. They're always friendly. The have great gift items. And it's just more welcoming and homey.

Yelp
The manager Megan and the rest of her staff are as darling as their gorgeous store. Walking into the shop is like entering a magical house full of treasures. Make sure you check out the stationary section upstairs!!!

Yelp
We used Stuhlbergs for our wedding invitations and was blown away by the service!!! Ann was so knowledgeabe and resourceful to help us come up with amazing wedding invitations. We did not understand the point of spending thousands on wedding invitations so we were looking for good value!!! Everyone complemented us on our invitations that they were some of the nicest they had ever seen!!! Thank you so much Ann for helping our vision come to life! The decor and shopping in the store are so fun and cute!

Yelp
I love this store! This is the first review I have written for yelp.com and it's because Stuhlberg's is fantastic. I have never had a problem finding a gift in my price range there. Some things are very expensive but there are plenty of items in the $10-$35 range, especially for kids. Another bonus is they will gift wrap your item for free. I would whole heartedly recommend them as a great gift shop in an even better neighborhood. Support your local enconomy...buy your next gift at Stuhlberg's.

Yelp
This is my FAVORITE store in Seattle. Really. Everything is inspired - the decor, the stationary, the kids section. It's like walking into my own personal version of heaven. But let's get down to the facts. The kid/baby stuff is to die for - I got some French baby plates and sippy cups that are just adorable. I got both a father's day present AND the card. And some thank you notes. The thank you note selection, BTW, is fricking cases long. Unreal! If you are looking for that fun or whimsical gift, or really, anything, go here!!

Yelp
This place is absolutely lovely. Lots of wonderful gifts for young, old, funny or elegant. They have a nice collection of wedding invitation books upstairs with lots of candles, stylish books, bath accessories (soaps & lotions) and more. Downstairs is full of home decor items mostly for the table and a few quirky fun items for the gents. They have a sweet children's section for gifts, clothing and books and the place smells divine with all the candles and such. We came here looking for plain letter stationary packs which they do not carry but they do have a good selection of greeting cards, note pads, thank-you notes and decorative pens. Pricing varies on what you're looking for but you can get items under $20 or something really classy for over $200. Great for wedding or baby shower gifts, bridesmaid/groomsmen, birthdays and more. I'll be back for a few items my partner was eyeing as we were browsing. I would definitely recommend a visit here.

Yelp
They have a wide selection of products, ranging from stationary, to small gifts, to kid products. For the most part, an amazing boutique worth checking out. Prices are a little high at this store, but they have good quality stuff. Definitely be careful near their glasswares... the space is a little tight!

Yelp
Stuhlberg's has some of the best children's clothing, and high quality furniture items on the hill. Some of it is kitschy, but the owner, Megan, is so wonderful I shop there whenever I can. If you want unique, quality gift items, you will find something there you love. Alot of imported items that change seasonaly.

Yelp
Cute gift shop that is packed with goodies to spoil a loved one! I immediately found the perfect gift for a little girls birthday and they where able to wrap it while I looked around the store which has a 2nd floor too! What a neat place to walk into on a sunny day in Seattle.

Yelp
Lord have mercy, this place is like a child's nightmare "look but don't touch" as well as an adults wallets nightmare "be surprised by your insanely large checkout total for 2 things that should have cost 7 bucks". Not a practical toy store. Good for very generous gifts (a 60$ baby pajama romper), but if you're browsing, most of these toys are elsewhere for half the price. Note: if you have a stroller take the side entrance around the corner as the Queen Anne Ave entrance is narrow stairs that we foolishly carried the stroller up and in.

Yelp
On my recent vacation to Seattle I made a point to visit Stuhlberg's after doing research on the internet. I am always on the lookout for gift shops with unique items for all occasions and Sthuhlberg's was a pure delight with a good mix of classical gifts and whimsical items. The shop finds the right balance to satisfy many gift giving occasions. I was particularly impressed with their selection of Kate Spade boxed cards and stationery in general. Their baby section had many books and toys that I haven't seen in other stores. As an added bonus, I had plenty of time to shop and then stop by Kerry Park (Think quintessential views of Seattle skyline) and still make it back downtown on the same bus transfer pass. Definitely a quick venture out of downtown/Belltown I would reco to others.

Yelp
Gifts, candles, cards, and the BEST customer service in Seattle! Please don't review this business if you received a freebie for writing this review, or if you're connected in any way to the owner or employees.

Yelp
I love this store for buying oil diffusers, or a special gift for someone. Julietta knows me by now, as I am a regular customer. I really enjoy everyone here at this store. It's a great place for buying a treat for yourself or someone you know.
google avatar

William W.

Yelp
Shame on you for not letting my 3yr old little girl use your bathroom while you fumbled around trying to wrap the presents we had just purchased. It's never a positive experience shopping at STUHLBERGS but that was the final straw. I'll be taking my business elsewhere.
google avatar

Jessica Y.

Yelp
What a lovely shop, too bad they have the rudest employee I've ever encountered. I believe I overheard another employee call her name and it was Julietta. While shopping in Queen Anne, my mother and I stopped in to look around. We noticed that they had wedding stationary, and while I wasn't planning to sit down and buy wedding invitations today I was curious to see what they had to offer. The books are kept on a shelf next to a large open table. Looking back I remember a frame on the table, but seeing as how the entire shop is filled with frames I didn't think anything of it. Having never read the sign I can only assume that it read something to the affect of "You may only look at stationary by appointment. Violating this rule is punishable by death." I'm happy to report that I'm still alive, but moments after opening one book of invitations Julietta made her way upstairs and gave me a look that could kill before rudely telling me that I wasn't allowed to look at the books without an appointment. She then stood next to me and wait for me to close the book and get it back on the shelf before turning and walking back downstairs. Not only will I not be buying my wedding stationary from this shop, but I won't be buying anything from it in the future.

Yelp
You know that feeling you get often as a kid, where you really want to pick something up and play with it, but you know you'll get in trouble? That's how I feel every time I walk into Stuhlberg's. It's been a Queen Anne constant for YEARS, but I always feel tense, uncomfortable and kind of unwelcome whenever I go there. And I've even bought gifts for friends/family there. Now that Three Birds is up the street, though, I prefer to go there for gift shopping.

Lili Z.

Yelp
I have been to this place several times. It has many different kinds of things but it also a problem for making choices. I was very unhappy because the young lady there was not patient. I told her I'd like to pick up something quickly but she didn't wait for 15 seconds!!!!!!! And took more than 2 minutes for another person then came back to me. And it's always crowded, it really needs more room for customers to walk around and look for things they want. Never want to visit this shop again !!!!!!!!!!!!

Yelp
Tres chic! This place is purely transportive. From the second you walk in the door, you feel like you are in another world. The store actually earns the term "curation," with a gorgeous hand-picked collection of stationary, housewares, kids section, and more. The owner is so charming and gracious; she is the icing on the cake. I absolutely love this store and could easily spend hours here. It is a very special place. When you need a change from hipster mustache glasses and Beetlejuice modern everything, this is the spot to go!
google avatar

kaitlyn k.

Yelp
I am really glad I found Stuhlberg's on here. I have actually been to both locations in Queen Anne and Sun Valley. I could spend all day here. They have a great selection of cards, wrapping paper, and luxury items. I have actually found their cards are less expensive than Papyrus, another fine card store I frequent. Everything else is on the more expensive end.

Yelp
Meghan Stuhlberg has buying taste like I've never seen. Her store is delightful, her staff helpful and while the prices are on the higher end, you know you're always getting top quality. This has always been and continues to be an outstanding place for me to find gifts for my real estate clients, gifts for all other reasons and seasons and treasures for myself. Stuhlbergs has my highest recommendation for tasteful, stunning, quality finds. Thank your for always providing me with the goods and service I've come to expect.
google avatar

Allison S.

Yelp
Stuhlberg's is a gorgeous, classy gift shop, with wonderful cards, home items, and clothes/toys for little kids. It's pricey, but worth a visit for a unique gift, particularly for a new baby.
google avatar

Heather S.

Yelp
This is my go to home decor shop. It never fails me. Wonderful service and lovely, stylish stock keeps me coming back, year after year. I am so lucky it's in my neighborhood!
google avatar

Melinda M.

Yelp
This is a great gift shop - fun just to browse, or when you're in the market for the perfect hostess, wedding or baby present. They have a well-curated range of gifts that trend high-end, but with plenty of options at reasonable prices. There's an unbelievable array of soft, adorable critters by Jelly Cat, along with DwellStudio baby accessories for the stylish mama, and cute baby and toddler clothes that aren't overly expensive. Their greeting card selection is among the best in the city, with plenty of options that are $3-$4. Check it out the next time you're in Queen Anne.

Yelp
Stuhlberg's is a great store! The staff is friendly and they always have a great selection. I have had great luck finding small things like a card or hostess gift. More importantly, it is my go-to store for wedding gifts or when I need something for my difficult-to-shop-for aunt.

Leslie J.

Yelp
This is my go to place for birthday, anniversary, and all other gifts. They seem to have something for everyone. The staff is also very friendly and helpful, but not pushy. I love the seasonal items they put out, always displayed well. They also have a fun baby & toddler section in the back and there is usually a sale section too. I LOVE this store :)

Zane M.

Yelp
Beautiful store....amazing showcase of Simon Pearce. I've bought several pieces here. They do wonderful gift wrapping as well. Always friendly, and I've met several of the staff, including the mother/daughter owners.

Laura L.

Yelp
I've shopped here for several years for baby showers or small gifts for friends. It's a great shop for beautiful gifts, and everyone is always very nice. It's nice to have a shop where you can get something small and elegant nowadays.

Siri I.

Yelp
I always want to buy everything in the store. Great gifts for babies and newborns. The owners are so helpful and friendly.
