There's so much great coffee in Portland but Stumptown is the OG and still making great coffee. This is the first original location (and bonus! Kim Jong Grillin' Korean food cart across the street) but if you need decent coffee while downtown there's one in the Ace Hotel.

Cute little coffee shop. The cold brew was excellent as well as the cappuccino. Also had apple juices that were very refreshing they also have some cute desserts that go with the coffee.

While shopping at the nearby Korean market, I recharge my low energy with caffeine at this place. Although it’s a small café, the coffee tastes quite good, and it seems they put effort into brewing their coffee consistently.

Google
Love the bold and yet smooth cafe lattes at Stumptown Coffee Roasters. Excellent matcha lattes, too. Nice cozy space.

Google
My fav place to get chai latte in Portland! Excellent matcha too! Love that they don't charge extra for alt milk 💚

Pastry prices are wild. Few years ago was decent prices with decent service with a better bakery. They allow panhandling, which is super off putting, by the front door. But I'd rather help the homeless than the people they employ. Used to have knowledgeable baristas, now are hiring worse and worse individuals. Even training men? From scratch? Lol yah I'll continue to go elsewhere even though I live 900 ft from this place

Google
Absolutely wonderful coffee! Smooth like butter, ideal temperature, overall great experience with staff. This is hands down the best coffee I've had in Portland.

Google
Expensive and worth it. I love this cute location in the Sunnyside are on Belmont St. It is a perfect coffee shop for me: the corner storefront of an old historic building; rotating art displays; 2top tables and some counter seating; wifi; interesting music; good baristas; good coffee; big windows; plants; restrooms; walking distance to Laurelhurst Park.

One of the best coffee experiences in Portland. Skilled barista and very friendly staff. Espresso had very good mixed with milk. toffee, milky and caramel taste like.

Yelp
I still like Stumptown! They have good, but not my favorite, coffee. I usually stop in for just a latte but I've also picked up a "Too Good To Go" bag of pastries a couple times. This is my go-to location but I was surprised to learn that they have five locations in Portland, including the airport, AND they have three in New York, one in Los Angeles, and one in Kyoto. I think their merch is really cute and right now they're doing a collaboration with Coraline, which is fun.

Yelp
This coffee shop keeps popping up on social media so I had to try it out! There's street parking and this place is walkable from the shops on Hawthorne. It seemed relatively slow around 12:30p when we were there, plenty of open tables. Friendly service - they provided recommendations too. My friend and I decided to share the Holiday Flight and it was really good! With this being our first time at any Stumptown location, getting a chance to sample different drinks in the form of a flight was a great idea. I really liked the Baked Alaska Latte and my friend liked the Sticky Toffee Pudding Latte (we thought that this one needed a stir for better flavor). Overall a great experience - I liked the atmosphere of the place and how peaceful it was. We chose the window seating which gave us an opportunity to people-watch while we drank our flight. I can anticipate myself visiting again the next time I'm shopping on Hawthorne.

Yelp
What's up: Coffee and Tea run this morning! We did a quick search and found this Stumptown to be the closest near us. Parking: Street parking. Environment: Place your order at the counter on the left; the menu is located overhead. They have both indoor and outdoor tables. Staff members were friendly. We also grabbed some beans to go and the staff member told us we can get a drink for free with that! Restrooms are located in the back. What was ordered: - Matcha Latte (creamy) - Americano (good) Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. Cozy place to relax and enjoy a yummy drink. Staff members were friendly and helpful. We were in and out quick! Credit cards are accepted.

Yelp
Nestled on a corner, Stumptown offers pastries, coffee, teas and more! Welcoming atmosphere with fast and friendly service, this coffee shop is definitely a recommend. I got an iced matcha, so good! I didn't realize it's a staple of Portland but can definitely see why.

Yelp
I got an Iced Vanilla Latte with oat milk and it was SO GOOD. I'm from the Bay Area, and I've gotta say this is the best coffee I've had. 5/5 - the order process is fast and drinks come out fast.

Yelp
Really good almond milk vanilla latte. Only a ten minute walk from EV level 3 charging station at Fred Meyer.

Yelp
Stopped here as I needed somewhere to have breakfast and work for a few hours. I loved that all the drinks come with oat milk as default -- thank you!! One of the few coffee shop experiences I've had where I didn't have to be afraid that real milk was hiding in my drink. They're food selection is great too, I had the vegan sausage breakfast sandwich and it was one of the best I've had. No dogs allowed inside but I was able to sit at the benches outside with my pup.

Yelp
Swung by stumptown on a Sunday morning after hearing great things about the place. There were several folks in line but the wait wasn't long, they were very good at getting the beverages out quickly. Service was super friendly. I got a 16oz nonfat mocha. Flavor wise the coffee and chocolate worked well together as it wasn't too sweet but I did feel like there was a bit too much milk. Maybe I should have gotten a smaller size to balance out the flavor more. That was the only downside but I would definitely give them another shot if I return to the area.

Yelp
I wish I checked this place out more. I can't really say if the coffee here is better than others or specify what sticks out more taste-wise since I'm not coffee guru, but I did enjoy the drink! Design was nice to see. I don't get to see much coffee foam design so getting one was pretty cool. The special Macha drink was decent. Either it could be sweeter or more bitter, but it was in somewhat between. So, I get this in-between "do I like it?" confused taste but it was nice to drink before my flight. The lattes were pretty good. I don't get lattes much, but I would try it again if I went. It was a tad sweeter than my Macha drink and more watery

Yelp
My 2nd visit to Stumptown since my last trip. I remember it wasn't good but I thought I give it another try. Don't remember what I ordered last time. This time I ordered vanilla latte with oatmilk. It wasn't good. I didn't ask for any adjustments. It tastes too strong on the vanilla side and not enough coffee. This is probably my last visit. Just needed to make a note here so I will remember it for myself next time.

Sarah L.

Yelp
Come here if you enjoy being ignored by employees doing crosswords on their phones. How was the food? Wouldn't know. Couldn't get someone to take an order.

Yelp
I stopped by this cafe on 10/30, planning to grab some coffee and settle in with my work. While I can only speak for myself, my experience was far from positive and left me feeling unwelcome. The male barista who served me at that time was notably unpleasant. His overall demeanor, the manner in which he looked at me, and the comments he made while taking my order were off-putting and, frankly, rude. Even though his coworker offered me a free drink card, I'm definitely not coming back again. Nobody likes to be unwelcome and treated poorly, there are hundreds of coffee shops in Portland.

Yelp
Stump town is a cute coffee shop and a good place to study! The tables say 45min limit and I think I was there longer than that...but the staff didn't seem to mind (it was pretty quiet). I ordered the salted maple latte with oat milk and it was good, but the flavors were subtle and could have been a little stronger. I was SO excited to see Ocean Rolls sold here! They are from Bend, OR and apparently there is a Sparrow Bakery in the area where they get them from. They are the most delicious treats-like a cinnamon roll, but made with cardamom. Very delicious and best served warm!
google avatar

Yelp
Stumptown has my favorite iced vanilla latte in all of Portland. Everyone at this location is nice. They recently added Okapi cups, allowing you to essentially rent a reusable cup. Had to give them five stars for the environment! Breakfast sandwiches are mid at best but everything croissant hits every time!
google avatar

Jeanne Z.

Yelp
This is currently my favorite coffee place in Portland-proper. The historic name of Stumptown, is not my favorite image of Portland- but the quality of coffee makes up for it! I love the style of their cold brews, and is also one of my go-to's. I just can't get enough of their Latte's. I usually get vanilla, but last time I went this month (July 2022) I tried their ROSE GOLD Latte. It was delicious! And, I also am a big fan of the Ocean Rolls and other pastry items they sell from Sparrow Bakery. This is my favorite coffee shop based on taste and quality of the coffee and pastries combined, but also there service is really good too!

Yelp
Here's the T....I do not drink coffee. I was trying to visit a close by shop which did not have a restroom. I figured I would drop in and get some water which is exactly what I did but I made so many discoveries - they have great art work displayed and do art shows at their different locations - who knew? They have other things to drink that are not coffee for those of us who do not drink coffee. AND, most importantly, they have some of the nicest most helpful people who work here which makes a person like me who does not even drink coffee to go into a coffee shop!
google avatar

Anokhy D.

Yelp
We stopped in during the holidays and I couldn't help but get a peppermint mocha. The croissants looked fresh too so I got a pistachio croissant. Everything was as expected!
google avatar

Danielle N.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop in a great part of town. They only have some pastries in terms of food, but they are known for their coffee so can't blame them. Several tables and places to sit. Great coffee.

Yelp
These people clearly alter their Google reviews, so I came to Yelp to say what I think. This business is intrinsically, racist and discriminates against their customers and other people of color. I'm part Native American part, Middle Eastern and part white and I could not buy a coffee comfortably in this establishment. I went ahead and looked at their website, and I see all this stuff saying that they claim to have direct trade with farmers in different countries for their coffee but there's no actual certification for what they're doing so they're just asking you to trust them that they have ethical business practices. From what I've heard about them this is simply not true. If you look at glass door, you can see review after review of discrimination. I would definitely boycott this company. Do not buy your coffee here.

Yelp
Was extremely hyped to try stumptown when I visited Portland because everyone raves about this place. I tried their specialty coffee salted maple coffee, thinking it will be maple flavored with a slight hint of savory, but instead I was met with a truckload of salt and no evidence of maple. Maybe I'm just not a salted whatever type of person, but it was just disappointing. Should've just stick with the regular latte. Their coffee base do taste good and it's well done coffee on the barista's part, which is the only saving point of this 7$ coffee. But I barely made it half way before throwing it away. A pity.

Yelp
We were driving back home from Washington to California and always make the stop in Portland at this location. This coffee was perfect to keep us going for a 14 hour drive. This shop is in a cool little area surrounded by fun shops. Workers are always helpful and friendly.
google avatar

Randy S.

Yelp
Got some Hollar Mtn. and Hairbender beans and they are both unique and lovely. Stumptown has certainly and comfortably made its spot on my national coffee supplier list. Rocked my world and gonna make my rounds across the other beans they have. Great work, Stumptown
google avatar

Amy K.

Yelp
This was a perfect Sunday afternoon pit stop. We needed to get some coffee beans and they even ground them for us. Purchased a couple of little travel mugs as well. We mentioned we were new to town and the cashier gave us one of our drinks for free. That was super nice of him. They have a punch card as I know we will use it...we got one. The rum raisin latte and cappuccino were on point. Both hot and full of flavor. This is a great spot for people watching at the window bar stools. It's also pet friendly! Love it. Customer service was excellent.

Kurt H.

Yelp
The decor is pleasantly antiquated with the wood floors and exposed brickwork. But they usually play the music much too loud to allow for easy conversation or reading. I'd visit more often if it was a bit more quiet.
google avatar

Max C.

Yelp
Matcha enthusiast here- worst matcha i've ever had. Tastes like sawdust. Chunky af. I'm chugging it so the experience can be over with. And to top it off, the employees were extremely unpleasant. Not only at the Belmont location, but unpleasant downtown as well. Will never be returning
google avatar

Yelp
There are only a few coffee shops I've visited in my life so far that have left a lasting impression for me. Stumptown falls on that list of shops that serve absolutely fantastic craft coffee. As cliche as it is, you cannot go wrong with Stumptown. There is definitely a reason for their popularity. As a new Portlandian, I can see why Stumptown is the staple for this coffee capital. Their coffee is amazing but so are their beans. Regardless if you buy the beans from the grocery store or directly from their storefronts, you are guaranteed top-notch quality.

Yelp
Ordered Espresso shot. What i get is a dirty cup. The espresso shot is not smooth and to acidity. Well but that's only in my opinion for it taste
google avatar

Katie K.

Yelp
Okay. They are very careful about their iced coffee. It takes a long time compared to normal, but it's alright.
google avatar

Mei Y.

Yelp
Went here on the recommendation from a friend and it definitely lived up to the hype. We got an iced Rose Gold Latte with oat milk and a Vanilla Latte. Both were very creamy and smooth. You could definitely taste the rose in the Rose Gold Latte which added something unique to the drink. The vanilla in the Vanilla Latte was just the right amount without overpowering the taste of the coffee. We also got the Egg Bacon Breakfast Sandwich were nice and hot once we got it. It was super tasty and filling for a day of hiking.

Yelp
Delicious and great staff!!! Made the best coffee and celebrated the community around them with respect!!
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in here for MOTHERS day!! And guess what, free drinks for mothers so that save me some coin on their drinks... great coffee, great space, typical kinda rude, pissy hipsters you'd expect at a Portland coffee house. Their drink fixins are always great, honey syrup, sugar in the raw syrup, etc. I wish they had cold brew that isn't bottled, as I favor the fresher stuff. I'd love to say I love them, but with the few other shops I frequent it is just very good. Thank you to supporting mothers, I hope they do the same for father's day :)
google avatar

George L.

Yelp
Coffee is always good, never bitter. They are pretty quick with the orders. I managed to spill a coffee, and they promptly made me another one.
google avatar

Jordan R.

Yelp
Knew of Stumptown because of the Ace Hotel location and had to scope this one too. Very casual environment. I normally just order iced coffees or cold brews, and Stumptown brings satisfaction! Decent priced for quality coffee! Stumptown is clutch in the city of Portland.
google avatar

Wayne N.

Yelp
And......STUMPTOWN. My wife honestly got upset at me for the number of times I would randomly yell Stumptown leading up to our time in Portland. Mostly cause it sounds cool. But honestly, I was also very excited to try this coffee place, having heard so much about it and even seeing the youtube tutorials on learning to make coffee, really was looking forward to getting some morning java here. And it more than delivered. I got some coldbrew (bring your own tumbler and they'll fill it to the brim) and it is delightfully smooth, not very acidic with a very deep flavor. Honestly, I'm not sophisticated enough in coffee drinking to describe the flavor that well, but I do appreciate good tasting coffee and this might be some of the best cold brew I've had anywhere. Why go anywhere in the city honestly? STUMPTOWN
google avatar

Abby W.

Yelp
It's good. Duh. It's Stumptown. Is anyone really needing a review of this place? Come on now, Portland. I will say this, Stumptown has a reputation for being snobby and a little off putting customer service wise. That has not been my experience at this location. They have been incredibly friendly and kind even in dealing with those ever tricky gift card situations. Service is 10/10 and coffee is 12/10. So yes, obviously you should stop in and stop gypping yourself.
google avatar

Jasmine Q.

Yelp
Always great coffee. Kind of confusing to a foreigner from Portland but I asked a few questions and the staff kindly answered and gave instruction. Apparently I've been here before in 2016 and didn't even realize this was the exact location. Very simple, decent study space, clean design. The drip is just the regular drip kind of coffee and 8oz only cost me $2.50 which is fairly decent. The drip today was Costa Rica montes de oro. Pretty good. There are other coffee bags for sale as well. Will come back again when visiting Portland no doubt!
google avatar

Kylie W.

Yelp
Quick stop in. Quick and friendly service. Matcha latte was the perfect temp and pick me up I needed.
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
Cool vibes, great coffee, good prices, great staff. Local coffee shop with good stuff. definitely a Portland staple!

Merina S.

Yelp
Our barista was very rude and had major RBF. She kept getting our orders wrong while taking our order and made us feel like it was our fault. When our order was ready, we immediately knew it was wrong because we ordered all 16 ounces and we were given 12 ounces. We did the math and we definitely paid for 16 ounces. At this point, we felt too uncomfortable asking to either be compensated for the cost difference or having a new one made. Giving this 3 stars because her coworker (a male barista) was kind and the coffee was delicious. We don't expect spunky and energetic barista, just a polite one.

Cheyenne K.

Yelp
My tea was fine, the shop was beautiful upon walking in but the service was not it. I stood in line behind someone who seemed to know the barista very well, I took this as a good sign, like okay, this place has regulars.. seems like a friendly environment. Nope. They clearly have their favorites because with me they were very cold, no eye contact, and I was given attitude when I asked which lid fit my cup. I will not be coming here again.
google avatar

Shannon W.

Yelp
I typically by Stumptown coffee from the grocery store, but I finally had an opportunity to actually visit the establishment. I wasn't able to get a good look at the atmosphere because this was during covid times, but I was surprised when I looked at the menu and saw that they had a cold nitro brew. I just moved here from New Orleans, and I haven't seen a coffee place that had nitro yet. I can vouch for their coffee beans because I buy them constantly, but their nitro brew was not only available, it was delicious. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Priscilla W.

Yelp
I'm not an avid coffee drinker, but while in Portland, I had to pay a visit to Stumptown Coffee Roasters. The brick wall, chalkboard menu, and staff reminded me of how hipster Portland is. The narrow layout and main counter centered in the coffee shop made the place too cramped and awkward to walk by to access the tables at the back. Although small, this coffee shop was cozy. I ordered a vanilla latte, which was smooth, sweet, and creamy. A friend had the nitro cold brew, which wasn't too acidic and had a really smooth and velvety mouthfeel, much to my surprise. I guess nitrogen really does makes a difference! Service was decent, neither upbeat nor super friendly. With several locations throughout Portland, Stumptown is a must-visit at least once.
google avatar

Helen K.

Yelp
Was recommended by a friend to try stumptown coffee while in Portland, we happened to grab brunch a block down so I headed over afterwards to grab a latte. Very smooth and nice I wanted to grab a baked good as well but this location did not have very many options so just grabbed the drink and left!
google avatar

Dani T.

Yelp
(I went to the location on Division) Meh. My latte was over poured so it was too bitter. The pastry I got was kind of dry and the staff didn't seem like they cared. They were playing construction sounds on the speakers so I was ready to get out of there. This spot has potential so I have an extra star. Ill give it another try at some point. Hopefully, I'll be able to update my review.
google avatar

Nermeen R.

Yelp
We came to this place based on recommendations from others and sadly it didn't reach the hype. I've had coffee from lots of different places and this tastes like most espresso-based coffee shops, there's nothing different about it. It wasn't bad coffee, which is always a plus and the service was decent. We tried their cold brew and rose latte and both were pleasant. The cold brew was a little watery and not as concentrated as I expected it to be and the rose latte was unique in it's flavor but nothing I would come back for. It might have been that we ordered the wrong drinks and they specialize in something different but wouldn't go out of my way to go again as I did this time.

Joyce G.

Yelp
A must when you visit Portland. Definitely gives off local vibe with friendly staff, no matter how early you go in for coffee. Coffee and matcha 10/10
google avatar

Deborah C.

Yelp
Atmosphere: classic coffee shop. Only hightop bar seating. Staff: friendly and knowledgeable about the products Drinks: ordered only cold brew and it was phenomenal. Balanced and robust flavor, I felt like While I sipping on my nitro cold brew I felt as if I were drinking a porter or a stout without the alcohol. It's was the perfect 80 degrees early evening pick me up I needed. Prices: decent and average
google avatar

Genie L.

Yelp
I'm not a coffee drinker, but I knew that I had to try Stumptown if visiting Portland. This place was great! We scored parking right on the side of the entrance and it wasn't crowded for a Tuesday morning. Staff was cool. I had originally ordered a macchiato and he warned me that it's probably not what I was thinking/expecting and showed me the little cup it's served in and sure enough, it wasn't what I was thinking. So I went with an 8oz latte with almond milk. It was delicious!!! And so cute with a little foam design. I'd 1000% be a Stumptown coffee drinker if I lived in Portland.
google avatar

Jennifer K.

Yelp
I love any coffee place that takes coffee seriously. And oh this is Stumptown Coffee! My cappuccino was balanced and the milk froth was smooth and love the latte art! Staff here is friendly and makes good coffee. What's more should I ask for?
