Sandwiches made by this place are the best in all of Orange County! They are famous for their sandwich known as the Godfather sandwich. You will not be disappointed with this dish because it is packed with meat and flavor. In any case, each sandwich is packed with meat and vegetables, so do not be worried if you are deciding which one to get. Having said that, there are so many options that you have to make a choice from! There is only one problem... it is a tiny place and there is no seating inside due to the fact that it is so small. It is just a few bar stools and that is all there is to it. However, despite the fact that there are tables available outside, there are very few of them, as well as the number of tables that they have.

We happen to be in the Huntington Beach area where Subculture is located. It’s one of our favorite sandwiches because we love the Dutch crunch roll. I want to compliment Stacy on her outstanding service today. I hope the owners read this and know they hired a real gem. In the past, the guys at the front were very unfriendly. If the sandwich wasn’t so good, we would’ve never come back. Thank you Stacy for being so friendly and going above and beyond.

Google
Tasty sandwiches and exceptional service! The lady helping us was super friendly. The kiosk made ordering a breeze. However, at $18 per sandwich, I was left wanting a bit more. I enjoyed my sandwich, but I’m not sure if I would choose this spot over other sandwich spots in the area.

Absolutely love Subculture Sandwich Shop in Huntington Beach! The customer service is exceptional — the staff is friendly, welcoming, and really takes the time to make sure you’re taken care of. As for the sandwiches, they are top-notch! Every bite is packed with fresh ingredients and amazing flavors. Whether you're a first-timer or a regular, you’ll leave satisfied. It’s a perfect spot for a quick, delicious meal. Highly recommend to anyone in the area looking for great food and even better service!

Google
Great local sandwich shop! You can taste the love the owner has for his craft through the fresh ingredients and scrumptious warm toasty bread! Love the wire spool table outdoor seating. Down with the corporate overlords, vote with your dollars & SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL BUSINESSES!

Google
Absolutely delicious! The flavors are incredible, and the bread is truly something special—perfectly crunchy on the outside, delightfully chewy on the inside, and so satisfying. The only downside is the price, but given the quality, it’s worth indulging in every once in a while.

Google
My goto sandwich when I’m in SOCAL. Where to begin? The dutch crunch? The garlic mayo? The avocado? Great and friendly staff delivering the best sammy experience.

Google
Holy smokes!! This is the best sandwich I’ve ever had!! I got the saxman. They warned that there might be an unpredicted wait but I’d wait my entire life for this sandwich! Must try!! P.s. there was no line or wait- service was quick.

Yelp
Thank you, Stacey for the exceptional serviceand their sandwiches are absolutely amazing! Stacy went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Whenever we're in Huntington Beach we always stop at Sub Culture. Some of the best sandwiches you'll ever eat. The Dutch crunch bread is the best. We highly recommend Sub Culture.

Yesenia E.

Yelp
The customer service here is amazing!!!!!!! The second I arrived I was quickly greeted and they offered my pup a snack! The sandwhiches were hugeeee and oh so delicious! Plenty of seating. And the music was upbeat. I love this place. Best sandwiches ever

Terri F.

Yelp
I found a delicious new sandwich shop, walked in and asked how long they've been there. "13 years". What? no way! The real question is where have I been! I ordered The Local because I wasn't extremely hungry and for a lower price, you get a little less meat. So recognize that my photo isn't the normal amount of meat. The sandwich was moist and flavorful, just the right amount of fillings for a smaller appetite. But, the bread!! Dutch Crunch! You get all of the crunchy along with the lightness without it tearing the roof of your mouth apart. The texture was perfect. So if you want an incredible sandwich, surrounded by bright colorful art and friendly servers, this should be your new sandwich place, too. I know it is mine.

Rachel C.

Yelp
WOW! Amazing service and great sandwiches! The owner and staff were so kind and charismatic. Very personable and just great people. The sandwiches are SO amazing, I'm gonna have to go broke driving down to the OC from the valley to grab one constantly, but it'll be worth it! I had the culture club but replaced the Pow Sauce with their house dressing. Amazing! Honestly, I think it's my favorite sandwich shop in So-Cal. 100% reccomend.

Yelp
OVERALL : We were craving sandwiches today and decided to give this place a try for lunch since we've heard some good things about it! The sandwiches def lived up to the hype. They had some pre-made and some build-your-own sandwich options along with some chips and drinks. The highlight of their sandwiches is the fresh dutch crunch bread made fresh with their own recipe. Apparently they are the original Dutch crunch sandwich shop -- and the bread def did not disappoint. The ingredients inside the sandwich were all fresh as well and the ratio of meat to veggie to bread was perfect. They also did not skimp on the sauces! Pricing was fair and I was able to split a Large with my bf and both feel full after. PARKING : There is a parking lot shared with the other businesses in the same plaza, but it can get crowded since there are a lot of good food spots in the plaza! A lot of people were grabbing lunch / coffee and hanging out at the outdoor seating areas on a Sunday afternoon. Good thing they have the online order option so there were some people who just parked super quick to pick up their sandwich and took it to-go! FOOD/DRINKS : Firebird - This is one of their "Gourmet Sandwiches" that were part of the preset menu (not build-your-own). All Gourmet Sandwiches with Signature Fresh Baked Dutch Crunch Bread, Tomatoes, Onions, Peppers, and House made Garlic Spread. The Firebird adds on Turkey, Melted Pepperjack, Bacon, Pow sauce, Jalapeno Cream Cheese, and Lettuce. -- Loved that you can taste each individual component in here. The bread was soft and warm, and the ingredients were fresh.

Yelp
Yummy lunch! Husband and I stopped by and ate here over the weekend. We arrived shortly after they opened and were the only ones here. No seating inside but there are a handful of tables outside in front of their suite. You order/pay on a kiosk and they call out your name when the food is ready. We both had regular (their smallest) sized sandwiches and they were big enough that we each brought half home and ate them the next day. He had their Culture Club (turkey, ham, bacon) without avocado, and I had their Powerhouse (roast beef, bacon) without tomato. We shared a bag of chips and got two bottles of water. Lunch was about $45! Quite pricey. We both enjoyed our sandwiches, their Dutch Crunch bread is excellent! Both sandwiches came with "pow" sauce, which we assumed was spicy, it is not. I have no idea what the "pow" sauce is. Their Gourmet Sandwiches also say they come with house made garlic spread, and I was excited cause I LOVE garlic, but I didn't taste anything garlicky. These held up well and weren't soggy when we ate the second halves the next day. If this place was located closer to me I would go once in awhile, probably split a sandwich with my husband, but i'm not sure how often we will go out of our way and drive the 20+ miles again.

Cherie D.

Yelp
If you wanna have the best sandwich of your life come here. I'm not exaggerating. We get the XL godfather every single time. Add pickles. Trust me. I hate mustard and onions but theirs is just special. The bread is phenomenal, the quality of meats absolutely veggies amazing. We drive more than an hour to come each time it's that worth it. Parking usually sucks but do not let that deter you. You can also order online.

Lizz B.

Yelp
Tasty sandwiches and exceptional service! The lady helping us was super friendly. The kiosk made ordering a breeze. However, at $18 per sandwich, I was left wanting a bit more. I enjoyed my sandwich, but I'm not sure if I would choose this spot over other sandwich spots in the area.

Yelp
One of the best sandwiches I have ever had in my life, no joke. I ordered the tuna and my partner ordered the god father. Both were phenomenal and MASSIVE. Ingredients tasted very fresh, pow sauce was so flavorful, dutch bread was amazing and added a nice crunchy texture. My favorite part is that they have perfected the bread to sandwich content ratio. Service was also great and everyone was so friendly. Cant recommend this place enough

Cathrine S.

Yelp
Stopped in to pick up lunch on the way down to HB. After reading reviews our expectations were so high! Unfortunately for us the subs fell short of that, the bread was nothing to write home about, and the wrapping of the sandwich did not allow for a mess free meal. The sauce on the side was filled so high it spilled all over upon opening it, it was an oil based sauce so it didn't mix well and was a mess to pour on the sub. I tried the tuna, which again was okay, very basic and not the most flavorful. Seating was extremely limited, maybe one spot inside and a few outside. I would consider giving this place another shot if I find myself in the area again, but was not blown away by their subs.

Charlotte L.

Yelp
Wow omg the growler was so good. I would say best sandwiches in comparison to the ones in LA. The service was very welcoming!! Would come again to try their other sandwiches:)

Suzie I.

Yelp
Knew & went here many times before COVID-19 . Godfather sandwich was my favor . Service was nice

Mike N.

Yelp
Huntington Beach, Ca. First of all parking kind of sucks here. I did not venture into the parking garage because typically they charge you to exit. Our sandwiches today were very good and they don't skimp on the protein. I had to wait awhile because of all the call in orders that were ahead of me. The sandwiches are of a robust size and it is quite possible that one will feed two, depending on your appetite. I'm not sure if you can order a half, maybe? The ordering experience and payment is digital. There apparently is no other way, you just navigate your way through the kiosk experience. Since they seem to encourage on line orders, this may be the way to avoid the parking problem. Order online, run in and grab your sandwich, run back to your unparked car at the entrance and leave.

Larysa O.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place! Stumbled on it one day unexpectedly years ago and has been a loyal customer ever since! The sandwiches are so yummy (my favorite is the subculture sandwich) and staff is really friendly and professional. Highly recommend it!

David C.

Yelp
If you're looking for some good Dutch crunch bread then you have found the place. Subculture specializes in Dutch crunch bread and all subs come with one size although there is a regular, large, and XL. The sizing just means they add more meat to the sub for extra protein. They have an online ordering system which is very convenient if you are on a time crunch for lunch. Orders are made relatively quickly and have always been ready by the time I go pickup my food. I have tried the club and subculture sandwich so far and they have been great. My only complaint is it could get a little messy because of how much they stuff the sandwich but is that really a complaint. Overall, this is a great spot to grab a sub.

Tony P.

Yelp
Subculture Extraordinary Sandwiches is hands down one of the best spots for unique and flavorful sandwiches! The Powerhouse sandwich is a standout Bursting with fresh ingredients and bold, perfectly balanced flavors. Every bite was amazing and left me wanting more. There's always a line here, but it's absolutely worth the wait. The staff is friendly and efficient, and you can tell they take pride in crafting each sandwich to perfection. If you're a sandwich lover or just looking for a satisfying, delicious meal, you have to check this place out!

Natalia J.

Yelp
I think I've found a hidden sandwich gem in Long Beach. Okay, I can't take credit. This place seems like a popular spot among locals and I can see why. The steep prices of ~$16/sandwich make sense when you look at the economy and how much meat and fixings they manage to pack into each sub. The bread is out of this world and had these crusty delicious little spots of cheese or something on top that make the texture of this sandwich awe inspiring. My friend and I split the Godfather (classic italian sub) and Fire Bird (delicious spicy turkey sandwich). I can't say which one I enjoyed more because they were both fabulous. They're cold sandwiches but I'm just amazed at all of the different textures and flavors they manage to pack into these bad boys. I'm so down to drive to Huntington Beach for these again.

Shirley W.

Yelp
It was our first time trying their sandwiches and we really enjoyed it! There is a good amount of parking in the shared plaza with other stores. Although, there unfortunately isn't a lot of seating. The shop itself is very small so there's only really a counter in there? There is only outdoor seating. Especially since some tables are reserved for other stores, so there's definitely not enough tables for this sandwich shop, even when it's super popular! The kiosk was easy to use, and ordering was very easy. I was surprised how quickly we got our sandwich. We ordered a large to share since the sandwich looked stacked. It was definitely enough for two of us! We got the Roast Beef sandwich to share and I was surprised that it almost came out to be $20 for a large sandwich. It's pretty expensive for what it is, but I mean the quality of the ingredients were pretty good! Everything was flavorful and the bread is absolutely what they're known for. Overall, the sandwiches reminded me of Ike's, but a more elevated. I would definitely try the other sandwiches they have to offer too!

Katarina O.

Yelp
I love dutch crunch so so much! but I have just always been a dedicated fan of Ike's sandwiches. Subculture is definitely a competitor with the freshness of their sandwiches and how loaded they are. I got the caprese and was perfectly satisfied. Very kind service as well! Just quite expensive $18 for a sandwich after tip

Jazmine B.

Yelp
Came here because I was craving a sandwich and it totally satisfied my craving ! The taste was so good, I got the local sandwich, it's cool bc they made it a budget friendly sandwich. You can choose your meat I customized it with turkey and it went so well. The dressing is just the right tanginess and the bread is one my favs now ! They have cool art and music playing. The staff was very friendly and prompt with my order. Definitely coming back

Rhiannon H.

Yelp
I tried the godfather & culture club - both sandwiches were full of flavor and tasted great! Service was quick and friendly. They don't really have any inside seating & I didn't see a restroom anywhere.. which was unfortunate because these sandwiches can be a bit messy from all the flavor. Would be nice to have a place to wash your hands after eating. Also don't see an option for free water, only bottled water. Aside from those 2 things, food was good. Private parking lot.

Kimmy K.

Yelp
Subculture Sandwiches, is one of my favorite sandwich places ever! The bread is so crunchy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside. This is one of my favorite breads ever and I think about it all the time. I ordered the Subculture sandwich, which has turkey, avocado, and basil pesto. I liked how the pesto did not over power the entire sandwich, and found that it had a good balance between all the flavors, including their house made dressing. The sandwiches are pretty large in size as well! You order on the kiosk or online, which makes it pretty easy to customize your sandwich in case you don't want all the toppings included. There are also a few tables outside the shop to eat at as well.

Jukes N.

Yelp
Subculture did not disappoint. Had a large order for a party and everyone was raving about the sandwiches. It is on the pricey side but it was worth it. The large size satisfied even the biggest appetites. We ordered the Subculture, Wicked Tuna, Caprese, and Growler. Would order all of those again. Some said the Growler was the best sandwich they ever tasted! The bread has the perfect crust to hold all the meat and veggies. You need to eat it quickly otherwise the dressing will make the bread soggy. Call ahead for large orders. There were some issues with online ordering as they did not receive the order early enough and were a bit delayed with the pickup time, but they cranked out the sandwiches pretty fast! Will definitely come again. Not much room to eat in the restaurant, not a fan of the loud music. It is best to take it to go and eat it at the beach!

S L.

Yelp
I had never heard of Dutch Crunch bread before and heard this place serves it. These really are extraordinary sandwiches. I won't describe the bread because pre-conceived notions can backfire, I will just say you should go try it!! And I love the garlic spread they use in place of mayo - really adds something unique. I will definitely be back whenever I am in the area!!

Kiwi G.

Yelp
Ty for kind response. It's always nice to see owners treating their customers with respect. I suggest everyone read this owners responses under low stars, he cannot take criticism well which is why his food is BAD. Horrible owner horrible food! you will lose your business very soon due to how you treat your customers . The worse place I've ever eaten. DO NOT EAT HERE . I will share this on social media and let everyone know to read EVERYONES 1 STAR REVIEWS ESPECIALLY OWNERS COMMENTS. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL, cries and complains, name calling and cant handle the truth. You should never own a restaurant with that attitude and learn to take constructive criticism cry baby. Your sandwiches are gross !!! And you add fake reviews for business. The truth comes out when people visit your trashy place which ehy you are so mad.

Melissa C.

Yelp
Look. There isn't a photo attached because I'm still old school and the phone will not eat first. It was too good to wait. First of all this place is BOMB. I've been a repeat customer and they have NEVER done me wrong. Stacy is the plug and is always SO sweet. If you're lucky, she'll be the one blessing you with your sandwich. I've tried most of the spots in HB and even seal beach and this one is by far THE BEST DELI SANDWICH ever. The Dutch crunch is out of the world and the meats and toppings are always so good and so fresh. The word skimp is not in their vocabulary and these are well worth the price. They have some outside seating and it's best if you order ahead of time because they can get busy. Make this your next pre beach stop and you won't be disappointed.

Kimberly C.

Yelp
Subculture Extraordinary is a hidden gem that truly lives up to its name! The sub sandwiches here are absolutely fantastic -- each bite is packed with flavor and made from fresh, quality ingredients. Dave ( I believe that was his name) was friendly and welcoming, and so helpful. We split a large custom sub; they definitely know how to elevate a classic! Next time we are going with one of the specialities. The If you're in the mood for a delicious, hearty meal, look no further than Subculture Extraordinary -- you won't be disappointed!

Mattia N.

Yelp
THE FOOD LOOKS SO GOOD , the inside is gorgeous and the food is to die for , service is pretty quick considering how much love and passion is put into the food and also the length of the subs are exquisite. P.S YUM! I went to LA for a holiday , this was the best part

Christine T.

Yelp
This place is my absolute FAVORITE sandwich place. It's a small mom and pop shop that can get super busy, so expect to wait on the weekends. The staff are really friendly and the sandwiches are amazing. The bread is crunchy and cheesy, and they are packed with meat and veggies. I really like that there's a large variety of unique sandwiches. The only thing that would make this place better is if they expanded their hours into dinner time.

Hayley H.

Yelp
True to their name, these sandwiches are extraordinary. Despite living locally, I only recently experienced Subculture Extraordinary Sandwiches after a nearby business meeting. I'm so glad I took the plunge and ordered this $17 Subculture sammie. The price was hefty, but so was the meal. The sandwich was enough to feed me two times over. This thick sandwich is stacked with turkey, avocado, provolone, basil pesto, pickles, lettuce, and their special dressing. The sauce was so flavorful and the perfect addition to any sandwich. I also loved how layered each ingredient was, they definitely don't skimp on toppings. Can't wait to return and experience it all over again.

Audrey B.

Yelp
The sandwiches here are simply the best. Ordered the firebird and the godfather and let me tell you....10/10 bro. Firebird: added pickles to mine and added that nice zing I was searching for. The turkey is cooked to perfection and the cream cheese!!!! adding cream cheese to anything is going to make you cream you know? Godfather: MEAT ON MEAT ON MEAT the basil pesto perfectly pairs with the heartiness of the meat. The bread y'all. THE BREAD!!! SO FLIPPIN GOOD! Crunchy, warm, soft on the inside, FLAVORFUL!!! Service: everyone is so welcoming here. More than willing to find the perfect sandwich for you and your loved ones. Interior: so cutie in here! They are always playing some nice tunes! There is outside seating that is kept clean! RUN TO GET YOUR SAMMIES

Alejandra G.

Yelp
Loved this place! First of all their portions are amazing- I got the smaller portion, and it was still so filling. I tried the Caprese as well as the Godfather, both very so distinct but also so delicious! The flavors were not too rich- on the other hand the ingredients in both complemented each other right. We also got our sandwiches fairly fast! Will be returning to try more sandwiches since they have such an ample menu.

Sandy T.

Yelp
The staff was nice. It's a take out place with a few spots to eat. The food is amazing but be prepared to pay for it! It is pricey.

Jessi C.

Yelp
I got the regular size Culture Club sandwich and it was huge. $17 for a sandwich is kinda high but this thing was stuffed and was big enough me and my adult son. The bacon was nice and smoky. Everything on it was really fresh and I liked the how the bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Idk what's in the pow sauce but it was pretty good. The banana peppers were the perfect acidic addition to cut through the richness of the rest of the sandwich. Overall a really good flavorful sandwich. Definitely would be a belly buster if you tried to finish it by yourself. The shop has a friendly welcoming atmosphere. I ordered online and they gave a very accurate time of when I could pick up my food. I was able to pick it up 15 minutes after ordering.

Tricia Y.

Yelp
Found this place on Yelp as my boyfriend and I were looking for a place to eat after his work event. We both got the Godfather. My boyfriend added bacon to his, and I took off tomatoes on mine (I just really don't like tomatoes on sandwiches or burgers). The customer service is excellent the worker (might have been the owner or a manager? Not sure) recommended we try the red pesto, so we added that to both. We loved it!!! It was a bit spicy for me but it was still good. I would love to come back and probably try something different due to the heat level. My boyfriend liked the heat and said it was a great spicy kick.

Nikolo O.

Yelp
One of the best sandwiches I've ever had! Super friendly staff with fast service. A must try in the SoCal/OC area!

Ivan J.

Yelp
This IS THE SANDWICH place to come to in HB!! They are hidden but man they are ! Try the Firebird Sub if you get a chance!

Clarissa V.

Yelp
The best sandwiches around! I literally crave this place. My fav is the Godfather! The staff is always so so nice! I was helped by Chris and Stacey! I love me some pickles and spicy peppers. So I asked them for extra. They not only went heavy on both in the sandwich but they were kind to give me some on the side. Stacey is always so joyful, and helpful. She's very memorable! She's a great asset to this place. Anywho Whatever you try, you will like!!

Brandi F.

Yelp
A MUST-VISIT!! Scrumptious sandwiches paired the most welcoming customer service from Stacy, Rex, and Mike. I recommend the signature caprese with turkey... but not nearly as much as I recommend chatting with the incredible staff. That, I can't praise highly enough

Nate F.

Yelp
The service was very welcoming. My girlfriend and I ordered the "God Father Sandwich". A large sandwich EASILY feeds two people. While waiting for our food, we sat at two barstools surrounded by good music and sweet grafiti. The vibe here is so solid and the customer service is above average. Thank you Sub Culture! See you next week.

Jamie V.

Yelp
Holy sandwich !!!!!!! This is by far the best sandwich I have ever had .. I walked in not knowing what to think and I immediately was greeted by Dave who walked me through the menu and greeted me It was so good to see employees happy .. this says a lot about the owner I got the godmother and it was by far one of the best sandwiches I've ever had the customer service the presentation. Even the music was so fun what a great spot. I wish they came to Newport Beach. Stacey had the best energy as well even though I live in Newport Beach this will be my go to spot

Heather S.

Yelp
100% deliciousness. 1st timer here and it did not disappoint! I can't believe I have never been here until now. I tried the Godfather. I ate half there and was going to save the rest for later, but it was so addicting I ended up eating the rest before I made it home. Can't wait to go back. Service was great, the food was quick and fantastic! MUST TRY!! Disclaimer: It will be addicting and ruin other sandwich shops/delis for you.

Mefa L.

Yelp
I've discovered a hidden gem for sandwiches that's truly outstanding. This unassuming spot serves some of the best sandwiches around, with fresh ingredients and bold flavors. It may be a hole-in-the-wall, but the quality of the food makes it a must-visit for any sandwich enthusiast.

Mikey S.

Yelp
slow at makings sandwiches customer service good dont have alot time during lunch to wait for 15 minute sandwich the owner said i m lying waited more than 10 minutes he wasn't there and he said pretty sure lol !

Dan O.

Yelp
My sons have wrestling practice in this area, we live in San Gabriel; so we're always looking for a spot to eat . Well this sandwich place did not disappoint at all! My son recommend I order the godfather sandwich. So I did and yah of course did not disappoint! Service was great and fast. Also there's just something about the bread! It has a nice crispness to it! Just delicious! Anyways if your in the Huntington Beach area def stop by and give it a try!

Cassi C.

Yelp
Amazing sandwiches! I absolutely will return. lol In fact I plan to make this my regular sandwich place. Can't recommend enough. Both the Growler and Firebird were fantastic!

donna n.

Yelp
Wow! We have been noticing this sandwich shop for a while and today we went in. It has a super cool vibe and the sub sandwiches have unique options. My hubby and I ordered two different sandwiches. I had roast beef and he chose the italian. It was delicious! Customer service is big for me! The gal with the cute braids was so upbeat and Answered all our questions with a smile. She encouraged me to try their jalapeño cream cheese spread which is not something I would normally pick!!! Wow! Can't wait to go back!
