The Best Hotels in Lisbon, From Bairro Alto to Chiado | Condé Nast Traveler

"An urban riff on the beloved Comporta retreat, this 20th-century mansion feels like the home-away-from-home others try to emulate, from pasteis de nata and a bottle of ginjinha waiting in-room to a warm, personal welcome and art-and-design books scattered everywhere (quirky, wonky staircases included). Luxury is dialed up with super-plush beds, showers larger than many en-suites, and echoing-high ceilings. Dinner at Davvero is a highlight in beautiful surrounds—best finished with a glass of Sublime’s Moscato before slipping back to what feels like a princess suite." - Abigail Malbon

Sublime Lisboa, Amoreiras, Lisbon, Portugal - Explore & Book

"Naming a hotel ‘Sublime’ sets high expectations, and Sublime Lisboa delivers in spades. It’s a treat for all five senses: Sophisticated, colourful and eclectic interiors, a calm ambience, heavenly-scented organic bathroom amenities, delicious all-day breakfasts at the in-house restaurant, and all-round luxurious comfort. This elegant 20th-century townhouse conversion is located in the calm Amoreiras neighbourhood, close to popular areas including Príncipe Real, Bairro Alto, Parque Eduardo VII, Avenida da Liberdade and Chiado. Home to Lisbon’s Japanese Club until the 1940s, the building’s walls have witnessed regime changes and revolutions. In the late '60s, it was a gathering place for the international jet-set – Audrey Hepburn, Aga Khan, and Diane Von Furstenberg were amongst its visitors. The hotel's original staircase, traditional mouldings, and central atrium feel like a mini palace. But the spirited decor – from the library lounge to the 15 lavish rooms and suites – brings the space firmly into the 21st century. A sophisticated colour palette and geometric patterns riff with plush textures, contemporary furniture, interesting Portuguese accents, and acclaimed photography and sculpture. Every room, corner and vignette has been meticulously designed. With welcoming, friendly and attentive staff, Sublime Lisboa is a refined home away from home. Highs A gorgeous blend of rich colour, texture, art and pattern, with retro and modern accents flirting with traditional forms. The bold design style is somehow also calming and sereneWe loved the thoughtful and fun touches – from the luxury turndown service to the watercolour painted Lisbon guide and welcome treatsThe staff are wonderful and very knowledgeable about Lisbon’s hidden gemsBeautifully designed restaurant and great all-day breakfastsAmoreiras is a nice area if you want more quiet but still have easy access to the city; it's 10-15 minutes away by car (30 mins on foot) from the downtown area, restaurants and main sights Lows All these striking interiors mean this is definitely the pricier end of the scaleMany rooms have open-plan or glass-walled bathrooms, which may not suit guests who prefer to keep some things private from their travel companionsNo gym or spa facilities on site, but the Sublime team can arrange these at locations nearby" - Jo Duxbury

Sublime Lisboa (Lisbon, Portugal) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Set in a century-old townhouse in Amoreiras, an upscale city-center district that’s slightly off the tourist trail, Sublime Lisboa is a beautiful little gem: a 15-room luxury boutique hotel that’s both stylish enough and luxurious enough to be worthy of its lofty name. The house’s well-preserved period architecture provides much of Sublime Lisboa’s visual character, though the hotel’s local designers haven’t been shy about complementing its antique features with bold modern colors and an eclectic variety of eye-catching furnishings and artworks." - Tablet Hotels

We stayed at the Sublime Lisboa both at the beginning and end of our trip, and everything about our experience was fabulous. The staff members were friendly and incredibly helpful. Both rooms were distinctive, spacious, fully equipped, and very comfortable. Breakfast and dinner at the restaurant were delicious. The location was very convenient, quiet, and easy walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go. We're considering a return visit to Lisbon just to stay at the hotel again.

After a 5 day stay at the Sublime Lisboa, we know where the name and all the stellar reviews come from. To say our stay was sublime would be an understatement. First, the service was unparalleled. Renato, the Front Office Manager, went above and beyond for us - even arranging for me to see a local doctor and offering to go the pharmacy for us. He and his colleagues had great recommendations for us, and they all made us feel that no request was too big or small. The rooms were charming and extremely comfortable. We had a Sublime suite with a beautiful terrace - the room had lots of thoughtful touches including a welcome gift and a Dyson hairdryer. We had high expectations for the restaurant, Davvero, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and even those expectations were exceeded with excellent food and superior service - a special shout out to Beatriz and Mario who took such good care of us. We ended up eating most of our meals at Davvero. We can't recommend this hotel highly enough.

This beautiful little jewel of a hotel felt like home away from home - comfortable, quiet and relaxing. I appreciated the thoughtful design that exudes a sense of sophistication. From its contemporary style to the gem-tone velvets in the room and the intriguing photographs in the halls. The bedding is comfortable, the towels thick and plush, and the room includes everything you might need. All of the staff were friendly and welcoming and the restaurant/ bar is equally beautiful and the food delicious.

Walking down to the nearby Parque Eduardo VII from the Sublime one passes the monoliths of the Intercontinental and Ritz. Both undoubtedly fine hotels but, I suggest, lacking the qualities of a genuine, and sublime, boutique hotel. |The Sublime Lisbon has an individuality, imagination and intimacy in everything it does. The welcome is personal and engaging, the rooms are unique, stylish and comfortable, the restaurant? Well, Sublime. |Thanks to all for a memorable stay.

This was the most incredible stay at the most incredible hotel. The room and property was gorgeous, restaurant delicious, and staff so kind and helpful. After a long flight and summer spent studying for the bar exam, this was my first night of my trip and it was very comfortable. After checking out the next day I had an unfortunate incident with a bird and the staff were so helpful and gracious letting me back into my room and helping me dry my clothing, as well as called me a car to get to my train on time. I was so touched by this it really helped brighten everything up.

The team is fantastic, very attentive to every detail from arrival to the room to special requests! I was also very happy that my English was accommodated without a question. The restaurant team, chef and experience was so good that I chose to dine in on many occasions. The quality of the rooms and attention to detail and style is great. The team servicing the rooms were so lovely, worked around my schedule and even reminded me of my pillow preference when I moved rooms - would stay here again in a heartbeat! Plus love the access to a full gym just 3m walk down the road.

From the moment of reserving, arriving at the reception through to being introduced to my room, all was very professionally handled. The staff were warm, helpful and efficient. The room was very well appointed with many nice touches, the bed very comfortable with many pillows to choose from. All exceptional.
