Sublime Lisboa, Amoreiras, Lisbon, Portugal - Explore & Book

"Naming a hotel ‘Sublime’ sets high expectations, and Sublime Lisboa delivers in spades. It’s a treat for all five senses: Sophisticated, colourful and eclectic interiors, a calm ambience, heavenly-scented organic bathroom amenities, delicious all-day breakfasts at the in-house restaurant, and all-round luxurious comfort. This elegant 20th-century townhouse conversion is located in the calm Amoreiras neighbourhood, close to popular areas including Príncipe Real, Bairro Alto, Parque Eduardo VII, Avenida da Liberdade and Chiado. Home to Lisbon’s Japanese Club until the 1940s, the building’s walls have witnessed regime changes and revolutions. In the late '60s, it was a gathering place for the international jet-set – Audrey Hepburn, Aga Khan, and Diane Von Furstenberg were amongst its visitors. The hotel's original staircase, traditional mouldings, and central atrium feel like a mini palace. But the spirited decor – from the library lounge to the 15 lavish rooms and suites – brings the space firmly into the 21st century. A sophisticated colour palette and geometric patterns riff with plush textures, contemporary furniture, interesting Portuguese accents, and acclaimed photography and sculpture. Every room, corner and vignette has been meticulously designed. With welcoming, friendly and attentive staff, Sublime Lisboa is a refined home away from home. Highs A gorgeous blend of rich colour, texture, art and pattern, with retro and modern accents flirting with traditional forms. The bold design style is somehow also calming and sereneWe loved the thoughtful and fun touches – from the luxury turndown service to the watercolour painted Lisbon guide and welcome treatsThe staff are wonderful and very knowledgeable about Lisbon’s hidden gemsBeautifully designed restaurant and great all-day breakfastsAmoreiras is a nice area if you want more quiet but still have easy access to the city; it's 10-15 minutes away by car (30 mins on foot) from the downtown area, restaurants and main sights Lows All these striking interiors mean this is definitely the pricier end of the scaleMany rooms have open-plan or glass-walled bathrooms, which may not suit guests who prefer to keep some things private from their travel companionsNo gym or spa facilities on site, but the Sublime team can arrange these at locations nearby" - Jo Duxbury

"Set in a century-old townhouse in Amoreiras, an upscale city-center district that’s slightly off the tourist trail, Sublime Lisboa is a beautiful little gem: a 15-room luxury boutique hotel that’s both stylish enough and luxurious enough to be worthy of its lofty name. The house’s well-preserved period architecture provides much of Sublime Lisboa’s visual character, though the hotel’s local designers haven’t been shy about complementing its antique features with bold modern colors and an eclectic variety of eye-catching furnishings and artworks." - Tablet Hotels

Like the last reviewer, I don’t often take the time to review hotels but this team absolutely deserves it on so many different levels - hospitality, attention to detail, service team, restaurant, bar staff, waiters, chef (and apologies if I failed to mention a team). You all made my trip to Lisbon such a memorable one. Not to mention the value compared to overpriced hotels just next door - hotels I would have usually stayed at for twice the price but they were booked. So very glad they were. Thank you team for making my trip one to remember!

The food at the Sublime was the best we had ever tasted! The chef was an amazing person who transformed each plate into a masterpiece! The best poached eggs for breakfast on the most delicate of homemade breads! Our main meal was a delight, and we even went back for an extra lunch after we had checked out. The staff are so attentive, you are not kept waiting, and the food quality is outstanding. The concierge was professional and friendly and did everything to help our stay be a good one. We shall most definitely return. Soon we hope :)

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Sublime Lisboa at the end of a long trip. The room itself was spotless, so nicely appointed and luxurious. The bed was extremely comfortable, the bathroom had so many amenities, and the extra personal touches really made the experience. The staff was so thoughtful and thorough, bringing us ice and water when we needed it, leaving treats in the room, providing turndown service. Everyone was so kind, greeting us every time we walked through and providing us a boxed breakfast and coffee on our way to the airport early in the morning.||The staff set up an amazing personalized private tour of Sintra and Cascais for us, and also got us a reservation at Davvero on a busy Friday night. The location was wonderful as well, allowing us to walk downhill and quickly Uber back at the end of the night.||We can't wait to go back to Lisbon to get to stay at Sublime Lisboa again! Thank you so much for making us feel so welcome.

Such a great little hotel. The decoration is artistic and modern — a beautiful mix of clean lines, warm tones, and thoughtful details. It’s cozy without feeling cramped, and in a great location. The restaurant might be small, but they went out of their way to cater for my daughter’s gluten-free needs, which we really appreciated.|What really stood out was the staff — everyone was kind, professional, and genuinely helpful. The management was amazing and made sure everything ran smoothly. It felt like they actually cared. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend to anyone heading to Lisbon.

We increasingly use Tripadvisor to help select our hotels - the wisdom of crowds. Once again, it did not disappoint.|We stayed in two rooms over our 4 night stay and both were spacious, clean and with very comfortable king-sized beds. We actually preferred the cheaper Pateo room to the Lisboa and there was actually very little difference between them. There are only 15 rooms in total.|The hotel is situated slightly off the beaten track with a pleasant 40 minute walk down to the popular districts and tourist attractions of Chiado and Bairro Alto.|Two things though tip this hotel into the 'excellent' category rather than 'very good'. First is the quality of the reception/concierge team. They were friendly and helpful and seemed genuinely to want their guests to experience the best of Lisbon during their stay.|Second, is the hotel restaurant : Davvero. We would normally eat in a hotel restaurant only once, if at all. But we enjoyed our first night meal so much that we ate there two more times. It's an Italian restaurant and the food was superb matched by impeccable service and an intimate, cosy atmosphere. Breakfast, a leisurely affair, is also served in Daverro and meets the same high standard as other aspects of the hotel.|The reception team provided us with a bespoke hotel map/guide which helped us navigate our way to the best places in the city. It could though do with a slight 'refresh' as we nearly missed the fantastic 'Time Out' sponsored food market and food court.|Overall, we were very happy to have chosen Sublime Lisboa and would wholeheartedly recommend if you enjoy comfortable, relaxed 'boutique' hotels.

THIS is the definition of 5 stars. I’ve never left a review for a hotel before, but after such a wonderful experience I felt inclined too. The rooms are spacious, bed is comfortable, pillows are fantastic. Location is great - not in “downtown” but only a 10 minute drive or 20 minute walk to everything. The service is what truly makes this place so special. The manager and the team make Sublime a home away from home. Don’t think twice, book your stay here. You won’t regret it.

I’ve been to Lisbon several times and have tried various hotels, but Sublime was by far the most disappointing – unexpectedly so. My first room was the Pateo Room – dark and cold, it felt like being in a basement. I was then moved to a room on the first floor, which was better, but the cleanliness was shocking for a five-star hotel. The floor next to the bed was dusty, there was a long hair in the shower, and the air vent was completely covered in dust. I felt uncomfortable in the room – everywhere I looked closely, something wasn’t clean. At check-in, the receptionist praised the breakfast – said it was “excellent” – but unfortunately, I cannot agree. I was greeted by an unfriendly older gentleman who barely acknowledged me. I ended up leaving without having breakfast, something that’s never happened to me in any hotel before. On the second day, I didn’t even bother with the hotel breakfast – who wants to ruin their morning like that? The hotel’s location is also quite uninspiring – there are very few trendy coffee spots or cool restaurants nearby, and the area feels very urban and lifeless. That said, I have to give credit to the in-house dinner restaurant – it was excellent. The interior design of the room wasn’t really to my taste either – with all the decorative elements, it felt a bit chaotic and cluttered rather than calm and tidy. Overall, I didn’t enjoy my stay. Housekeeping had clear shortcomings, which is absolutely unacceptable for a five-star hotel. The room interior felt cluttered and overdecorated. I can’t properly judge the in-house breakfast because I left early due to the staff’s attitude. The location is quiet, yes – but also surrounded by "nothing". Lifeless, especially by Lisbon standards.

The photos don’t do it justice, it’s better. Friendly staff, fantastic rooms, and a bathroom to dream of (!) The breakfast made us smile before we even reach the restaurant. Oh, and yes – it’s clean, quiet, and full of character. An experience!||bonus, we even found a local winemaker with a shop just a two minutes from the hotel – conveniently located in the block opposite, to the left. Perfect
