I recently stayed at Sugar Bay Barbados Resort and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The food was excellent—fresh, flavorful, and with a wide variety of options that kept every meal exciting. From local favorites to international dishes, everything was beautifully prepared and delicious.||One of the things I appreciated most was that the resort never felt crowded. Whether lounging by the pool or dining at one of the restaurants, there was always plenty of space to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The wait staff were friendly, attentive, and always smiling, adding to the overall welcoming atmosphere of the resort.||The beach was calm and tantalizing, with soft sand and gentle waves—perfect for relaxing or taking a peaceful swim. It truly added to the laid-back, tropical vibe of the entire stay.||Special shout-outs to Tiffany, David, Samantha, and Takela—they went above and beyond to make our stay extra special. Their warm personalities and genuine care truly stood out and made us feel right at home.||In the evenings, the resort came alive with fantastic entertainment every night. Whether it was live music, cultural shows, or interactive performances, it was always high-quality and a great way to end the day.||The bartenders deserve special mention—they were true professionals who crafted consistently great drinks, whether you wanted a simple rum punch or something more creative.||There is one steak restaurant on-site, and while you're limited to one reservation per stay, it’s absolutely worth it. The food and service there were a cut above—pun intended!||The only minor downside was that birds can be a bit of a nuisance near the main restaurant, especially if you're eating outdoors. It’s manageable, but something to be aware of.||As for the weather, it did rain occasionally, but the brief showers were actually refreshing and helped balance out the otherwise hot and sunny climate. It never lasted long enough to interfere with our plans.||All in all, Sugar Bay Barbados is a fantastic choice if you're looking for great food, a laid-back atmosphere, and warm, attentive service. I’d absolutely return—and thanks again to Tiffany, David, Samantha, and Takela for making it such a memorable stay!

My husband and I went to Sugar Bay this past week and we had the absolute best time! This all inclusive resort really is all inclusive. The food was great, the drinks were great, the people were absolutely wonderful, honestly! Such sweet human beings. We felt so comfortable there. They had kayaking, snorkeling, paddle boarding, and provide umbrellas and chairs and even hammocks. I mean it was great! When we stayed they had a movie night on the beach and that was so nice listening to the waves and watching a movie. The location of this hotel is also situated so well. They had entertainment at night and it was just a relaxing time. so pretty too. The concierge was also so helpful and easy to book excursions. We saw monkeys, fish, crabs and even a baby sea turtle making its way to the sea! They also have a few well taken care of kitties on the property. They also have this swing tucked away at the back corner of the resort that is perfect for sunset photos. The weather was pretty hot and humid, but it is summertime and the beach and pool provided us with the cool down we needed. Sugar Bay provided my husband and I the absolute most relaxing and wonderful time and we highly recommend to anyone!

Stayed for nearly a week with the family including 2 kids (ages 10 and 2). The beach was nice, unfortunately there was a ton of seaweed for most of the week while we were there so the beach wasn't as enjoyable as we would've liked. There were also some rocks that hurt so I would consider some water shoes for the beach. The pool was one of the worst designs I've ever seen; there were random steps throughout the middle of the pool and if you weren't careful you could easily hurt your feet/legs. I cut my toes pretty badly on day one when playing with the kids in the pool. The food quality was good, however there were limited options and many times they were not kid friendly. Lots of food had curry and spices which I enjoyed but the family was mixed on and the kids wouldn't touch. The rooms were clean and nice, however they were very simple and lacked some of the extra items that would make it better (e.g. shower caps, q tips, etc.). They also didn't refill our water in the refrigerator until we called and asked them to bring it up. The workers were mostly great, very pleasant, and took care of whatever we needed. A few of were a bit rude or didn't really come check on us at all while we were eating so we didn't get water refills or other drink orders when we wanted them, but that only happened a few times. The setup with the restaurant reservations being so limited was disappointing (2 reservations per full week stay and only 1 reservation if less than a week), the buffet wasn't bad but eating there for almost every meal is not what we typically enjoy on a vacation and there were not a ton of food options in comparison with other resorts we've been to. Overall, we enjoyed it as a family as a quiet little resort for us to rest and relax, but there was more we wanted out of it and we would not come back to Sugar Bay again.

Came with a family of 7 , 5 adults , 2 children.|We were greeted with a rum punch at check in, nice and strong , like all their drinks during the week.|Check in is at 4pm, and they mean precisely 4pm. |We were given no instruction on anything at check in. Not where towels are, where restaurants are or any other information. It would be helpful if they took a moment at the front desk to explain things to people. ||My favorite drink was the tropical infusion. |Best and friendliest bartenders were at the swim up bar in pool.|The food was good. Nice variety at the buffet for lunch and dinner . |Could use more variety at breakfast (too much carb filled foods).|We loved the a la carte restaurants, Umi and Sizzle ( could only book 2 restaurants the 7 days there , other days were buffet).|Colin's was another option for lunch. Pigeons are all over the place .||Room was clean and all the staff were very pleasant. ||Each night they had singers next to the bar. Only one night did they have a show.|I would suggest more entertainment, daytime and evening .||We did see quite a few monkeys on the property while we were there.||Bring your water shoes, the beach is rocky .|There are waves , but not crazy ones. Its not a calm beach if thats what youre looking for.||We took the local bus to bridgetown, did some souvenir shopping (i advise getting what you need here or the resort gift shop. I found the items limited at the airport ) and had rotis at chefettes.|We also followed the group at the resort to see the horses on pebbles beach at 6am.|For a $20 tip you can take a pic on the horse .|We also visited the George washington house , but I didnt find it worth $20 admission .||My husband has mobility issues so they accommodated a room close to the pool.|I accidently locked us out of room leaving through porch for less walking for my husband. They provided me with a key to porch door , which helped save him some walking instead of walking all the way to the front door.||Prices at the resort gift shop was a lot cheaper than items at the airport, but less variety of course. |We hired a car to pick us up from airport for $70 us (7 people ).||Last advice, beware of their ice cream machine . I got sprayed all over with ice cream when it malfunctioned .|Reach out to Mike on WhatsApp, order Mike's rum punch. You won't regret it.||Would I return to sugar bay? Most likely not.

What a treat! This was our first stay at an all-inclusive resort, and it did not disappoint. The food was an excellent blend of local and international flavors, and they did a great job rotating the daily selections for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The bartenders were pleasant and attentive to everyone who stopped by or just wanted to hang out for a bit. The two high-end restaurants were fantastic, I highly recommend the ceviche appetizer at the Asian restaurant. All I can say is wow! The location is perfect whether you want to relax and soak up the sun in the bay area right in front of the hotel or use it as a home base while you explore all the local culture and attractions. Either way, you really can’t go wrong choosing Sugar Bay.

I first reviewed this hotel in February 2020, shortly before the pandemic hit. I had traveled here with my 88-year-old mother and my 60-something sister and knew then that I would be back. |My husband and I have just returned from an eight-night stay and our stay was even sweeter this time. We opted for a garden-view room instead of the oceanfront family suite I occupied five years ago and it suited our needs perfectly. We were given Room 133, which was ideally situated for access to the pool, beach, lobby, buffet…actually, I don’t think there is a badly situated room in this entire resort. Throughout our stay, our quarters were impeccably cleaned by the housekeeping staff (hi, Tiffani!) and notes of thanks were written for gratuities. The bed was comfortable, the climate control excellent, the hot water plentiful and we had ample room for our luggage, clothing and personal items.|As I was a repeat visitor, we were given a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon which a charming note of welcome--and our wristbands were pink, which mystified many of the other guests whose strings were light blue. The front desk never failed to greet us by name, which made me ridiculously happy. The two trainees, Chloe and Akiel, have bright futures in hospitality ahead of them|We enjoyed 95% of the food we ate and the only marginal dining experience we had was at Sizzle (which was true of my last stay, too). The food was very good but the pacing of the service (which was delivered by genuinely nice people) made me want to chew aluminum foil. And dear Lord, it is HOT in there. We were pasted with sweat when we left at 9:30, sans dessert which we canceled because we just wanted to get somewhere air conditioned. The buffet offered plenty of choice for all three meals, although we usually had lunch at Colin’s. Tea at 4 pm provided a nice snack before dinner if there was room in our stomachs. (My husband MADE room.) Umi was perfection and Kay is even more incandescent than she was in 2020. I am surprised to read some guests believe the liquor is watered down. I may be a cheap date, but we found the drinks to be potent. If you want more booze--or less--just ask. |We enjoyed the Manager’s Meet and Greet very much and appreciated the resort’s escort to see the racehorses bathing in the sea on Tuesday. We also took advantage of the shuttle to Oistins on Friday night, but if I’m honest, it was just too long. We arrived there at about 6:45 pm and were ready to head back about 90 minutes before our scheduled departure. |The Beach Guys were always happy to set up chairs and umbrellas for us and they were always available for a chat or to help. |The gift shop offers snacks, toiletries, clothing and souvenirs at very fair prices.|One suggestion to management: I think it would be super helpful if the resort provided a folder in each room of useful information about the resort, its amenities and environs. Did you know that five flavors of snow cones are available in the afternoon? A resort map, restaurant hours and activity/entertainment schedules would be most welcome. I would have been distraught to miss Virgo on Sunday night. |Besides Sugar Bay's beautiful beach, comfortable accommodations and delicious food, it would be foolish to downplay the role the resort's employees have in ensuring a wonderful vacation. I did my best to make a note of the kind folks who contributed to our pleasure on our holiday: Akiel, Natalie, Chloe, Channel, Dylan, Romario, Kay, Deeannera, Aton, Kimberly, Kyra, Xavier, Brandon, Akeem, Zahran (when I return, I will expect a book report). I apologize for omitting about thirty other staff members. And I would be remiss if I didn’t give a shout-out to the guests we enjoyed meeting: Allan, Sue and Andrew from the Cotswolds; Karen and Kevin from Scotland and Newcastle; Linda and Laura from Ohio and Karin from Long Island. |We are looking forward to returning with our family in the not too distant future.

I stayed for one week, by myself. The location was solid, and the amenities were nice. What really set's this hotel apart is the food, and the staff. The buffet consistently never failed to deliver - the best all inclusive buffet I've ever had. The staff all around the property, especially the reception and restaurant staff were very hospitable and kind. In particular, Donella from the restaurant was very friendly and did a great job! There was a nice lively vibe which made it easy to socialize with other guests, since I was travelling alone. The location is solid, and the beach is a 7/10. A lot of seaweed at some points and there is definitely better beaches further down, but not terrible either. Overall, a very nice resort and value for money.

Sugar Bay has much to commend it and I would have no hesitation whatsoever in returning there in the future. However, I wanted to use this review to highlight the outstanding and perhaps sometimes underrated contribution made by the support staff in varying capacities. The atmosphere they engender is unmistakable, and it becomes clear very quickly that they are not young people just ‘being nice’ to the guests because their job description demands it. It is driven by something much more heartfelt. The quality of my own two-week stay was greatly enhanced by virtually daily interactions with Justin, Cody, Akiel, Xavier and Jonathan, who show a genuine interest in their guests as individuals and in their perceptions of their Sugar Bay experience. I would reserve a special mention for Kimberly and Aaliyah who were both quite exceptional in this regard. I am very confident that my views would be echoed by almost anyone who has visited the resort.
