Google
Place is awesome! Good drinks, awesome bartenders. They had a great comedy show going on. Had a really good time. Hope to do it again soon!

Austin B.

Google
Ordered a beer, it was flat, asked for a re-pour and was told by the bartender that she cant re-pour it cause its against the law. Was charged full price. $8.32 for a stein of Bud Light. Since they cant sell to underage kids anymore. The beers overpriced and the service is awful. Go to the tap room.

Michael L.

Google
This place has no food. But warm on a snowy day. Has 3 pool tables and old school video games. Tucked away in the heart of sugar House. Not bad but doesn't stand out. Lots of room in here. 2 bars. No live entertainment. Bathrooms are clean. Big plus in a bar. Low lighting, drinks are affordable but not cheap.

Olena B.

Google
The pub is good, the doorman is very nice. The bartender is a nice girl. The cocktails are good, but the cacophony is just overwhelming and a little cold. The staff is excellent, professional, but there is no food. If you want to relax after a hard week, if you are 21, if you want to play billiards, if noise doesn’t bother you, this pub is for you.

Mark A.

Google
Sugarhouse pub is an awesome local bar! The new owners, Xenia and Paul are fantastic and they’ve cultivated a warm, welcoming atmosphere! Can’t wait to see what’s in store for the new and improved Sugarhouse Pub!

John C.

Google
This bar is dope, and the comedy show was very funny. I had a wonderful time

Google
SPEED WAY CAFE. THIS IS PAUL. THIS IS GWAR NECROS BAD BRAINS HR NIRVANA PEARL JAM . THIS IS THE MAN TAHT BROUGHT ALL OF THIS MUSIC HERE. SUPER RAD. ONLY SHOW UP IF YOU DON'T SUCK.

Google
Awesome little divey bar in the heart of sugarhouse. Easy parking located in back, but if it's too full most people go park at the post office across the street. 3 pool tables in back, day board, and Foosball. IPA is on draft along with a few other bets besides the standard Coors and Bud Light swill. Great bar

Yelp
An inviting vibe with nice folks. Front lobby w/comfortable groupings of tables & chairs. Original long wooden bar with a well-worn warmth & glow.

Yelp
What a wonderful bar ! You can talk to the help like they are your best friends. The pool tables are great and the staff is the best.

Yelp
I want to like this place. It's close by and the bartenders are typically very nice. But they only open when a bartender feels like showing up. Honestly, 50% of the time they're supposed to be open they just have a sign saying, "sorry, unexpectedly closed again!". I've never seen a business operate like this. After seeing this literally 4 out of the 5 times I showed up (that's not an exaggeration) I just gave up. My neighbors did too. A person could make a fortune if they ran this place even kind of normal. Apparently that's not their priority.
google avatar

Yelp
Drinks only, and a dark and moody tucked in vibe. Feels slightly seedy, but it's Sugarhouse, so you're fine. Maybe a place to meet a tinder date for one drink to determine if there's something there? It's pretty low key here, which is a relief if you're not looking for the commitment that the downtown bar scene requires. Personally, I like the vibrancy, variety, and energy of food with my drinks, so the beverage only MO isn't really for me, but it still has its place.

Yelp
One of the best small bars in the country. I use to own a bar on the beach in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and my son now owns 5 in the Boston area and 1 at the Cape. I have lived in Washington, DC area, Scottsdale, AZ area, Boston area, Miami area and have traveled the world. You will not find many low key gems like this one in Utah. If you like quaint personable vibe with great bar atmosphere with knowledgeable and friendly bar tends, check it out.

Yelp
If you like watching bartenders cry, a high turnover, and short shots, come on down to Sugar House Pub where corners are cut and the management is as filthy as the equipment we never clean. Should that be refrigerated? We don't know and hopefully you don't either. We're not the cheapest in the neighborhood but that don't mean we ain't cheap. We cut all the corners to make sure you don't get your money's worth. But, gee, ain't these inexperienced, young 'uns sure good to look at? Here at Sugar House Pub, we know you ain't lookin' for fancy cocktails or someone to know what goes in a gin and tonic. Here, we're old fashioned, so please don't order an Old Fashioned. Order a bottle and a short watered down shot. Sugar House Pub: We look like a dive bar but we ain't gonna charge you like we're one.

Yelp
A solid spot to come for a quiet drink and to play some pool. I've come earlier in the evenings or on weekday nights and never really seen it too crowded but it can get busy weekend nights but I avoid SHP then bc there's not much else to do if you're not playing pool and they don't do food. Still a solid neighborhood pub if you're close by.

Yelp
Someone really needs to teach the women here to pour beer. Watching them scoop foam out of every beer with a dirty tablespoon is not only gross but wastes an enormous amount of beer drinking and hourly bartender time. Management only hires novice, attractive women. Please hire a manager.
google avatar

Travis R.

Yelp
Good dive, but old ass patients bully "troll" others on jukebox by playing 20min songs like Rush, metal, Pink Floyd, etc just so the can have control. If you come in and put money on the jukebox, you will be disappointed. The bartenders are great people, and are attentive. They deserve everything m Prior to being harassed other patients I would spend around $400 month there, now they are business.... $4,800 a year is gone now.... investors should be alerted

Yelp
Four stars is rare but it's based off of my experience today, I've typically been here when it's been busy. I was the first person in here for nearly the first two hours. I've been here before but today dictates my review. I prefer to day drink, I enjoy a more intimate drinking experience with just a few people. Once it gets packed or busy I'm out. With that said, there are four others here and the experience has been great. For the first few hours I've gotten to know my barkeep Macey. She's a sweetheart. The drinks are priced a little below average. The lighting is dim except for when I had here crank it up for Yelp pictures. So there is a bonus. But it's a nice little place. There is plenty of bike parking and it's not too far from food and parks if you want a quick break from the venomous world. They have free pretzels and WiFi (see my tip for the pass). Anyhow to cut it short it has made a great day better. And it's within walking distance from my home.

Yelp
Come visit sugarhouse pub they have cold beer and pool ! Make sure you bring some change so you can play foosball or pin ball.

Yelp
Great bartenders! Keeping it together in total chaos. Macey & Spencer- Excellent work, lady and dude! 10/10 Not much to say about utah bars--- but this is one of the best I've been to. Super cool :)
google avatar

RJ S.

Yelp
Very small bar but lots of standing area. No live music and the pool table area is small and crowded. No smoking area except for going outside the establishment. For me, it's kind of like a small, kill some time or meetup with a group type bar, then go take it somewhere else.
google avatar

Yelp
I had to do laundry and luckily Sugar House Pub was there for me to pass the time. Laundry is so much more interesting over a pint. The atmosphere was pretty chill on a Tuesday night, and Spencer, the bartender, was friendly and quick to get you your drink. What else do you need?
google avatar

Matt L.

Yelp
Why is it 80+++ degrees in here?!?! I asked around everyone thinks it hot as hell, I asked a bartender to turn down the heat and I was told the owner is 'very strict about the thermostat ' I don't understand. Turn it down to 70 you lunatic Knock down the temp and the really weird smell , the smell!! It's like a dishwasher and a cat box mixed

Yelp
Having been one of my favorite bars in Salt Lake in the past, my most recent experience at Sugar House Pub was nothing short of a disappointment. My friends and I ordered Moscow Mules and instead were given seltzer water vodkas with a splash of lime juice. Meh. On two separate occasions we were bothered by two obnoxious men who were most likely over served. Both bathrooms were flooded and I was told the women's bathroom had writing on the wall of saying they were "raped in this bathroom". Definitely not a place I feel comfortable bringing women. Overall, I would attempt to go to this place again if they made some simple changes and held their staff accountable. At one point this place was the coolest bar in Sugar House. Please bring it back.

Maddy A.

Yelp
Watched the bar tender put olives in our drinks with their bare hands.... since we're in a pandemic that was definitely concerning to me. But the bartender was very nice and made the drinks quickly.
google avatar

Yelp
Best, most friendly staff and ideal local bar ambience. I love the place. My only criticisms: (1) The Utah Legislature finally increased hard liquor pours from 1 ounce to 1 1/2 ounces. However, Sugar House Pub still pours only one ounce. That makes having a "real" drink very expensive and a bit of a hassle. Every bar in Utah should now be pouring 1 1/2 ounces! (2) The selection of good blended Scotches is very limited. I still give the place five stars - because of the great staff and the friendly "feel" of the place. (It would feel even friendlier if pours were 1 1/2 ounces!)
google avatar

David B.

Yelp
I used to love this place but the last two times I've come here the manager was behind the bar training a different woman each time. He made it extremely awkward both times and eventually made them cry by getting in their face on every drink they made. He was the only wrong thing going on at the time and my wife and I felt so bad for the new bar tenders. They were doing just fine without him. We have been coming here since it opened but as of tonight we are done! So awkward! DBrown
google avatar

Matthew O.

Yelp
Yes, everything was going well. When I cashed out he's charging me for several extra drinks. When I made them aware of the discrepancy, they told me to "fuck faggots". Not cool. Not cool, in any regard

Yelp
This is actually a difficult review to write because I really want to like this little pub! The location is perfect, I think the building is wonderful, I like the fact that it is divided into two bars, with a different bar and bartender on each side, so there can be a younger and noisier crowd on one side of the wall, and a more subdued and older crowd on the other. It's just that the place has enough issues for me to only rate three stars. First of all, in the more quiet section, when the sun goes down, there are no lights in most of the middle section, and it's too damned dark to see! Also, what a waste of space to have those stupid plastic electronic dart games in the corner. Pull those things out and throw them away, and get some real dart bristle boards in there! Several other Yelpers have mentioned the bathrooms. I didn't find them to be dirty at all. Maybe management has seen some of the reviews here and decided to make some changes. I was there just two nights ago on a Thursday, and the restrooms were just fine. But there have been some other comments by people talking about the chlorine smell in this place. They are absolutely correct! It smells like somebody just put new chlorine in the swimming pool at my old high school when you first walk in the door. I know that bleach is used for the cleaning and disinfecting of bar where, but a bar should not have the overwhelming smell of Clorox when you first walk in the door. The drink prices are about medium, nothing to write home about, and I do like their bottled beer selection, it seems to be more than adequate. They also had my favorite brand of bourbon, which not every bar in Salt Lake City carries. Anyway, if somebody wants to meet me at the Sugar House pub, I will go again, but I will not go out of my way to make it a regular stop on my tour of bars in the area. Your mileage may vary.

Yelp
Spencer is a great bartender making the whole bar experience taken to the extra level. Thank you Spencer for being a great bartender and making the experience exceptional!
google avatar

John K.

Yelp
Is there a way to give less than one star? This is one the worst examples of what a bar should be. The restrooms are disgusting. Do they think they can fool people into thinking an overpowering scent of Lysol covers up pure disease causing filth? The clientel is almost exclusively underage or close. They are served by rude, inept barkeeps who know nothing but how rip off the foolish kids who think this what a bar is. They have NO parking so they actually encourage their patrons to trespass on another business owner's property. Patrons will soon be alarmed when find their cars towed. Anyone dumb enough to go there deserves it. The place does the service of keeping under age drinkers from causing problems for reputable places.
google avatar

Yelp
I must say unfortunately I have been a patron off and on of this drinking establishment literally for years and it has only plummeted over the course of time. The long time manager does not have the friendly, cordial demeanor that is pleasurable with the public. He is more like the domineering, out of sorts, out of place type. His one redeeming value for young males is his uncanny ability in hiring very attractive young women, who typically have virtually no bartender experience whatsoever. As an older guy, any time I am there and there is a new female bartender, which is usual, I am treated as an old weirdo or a pariah. The bar once had some excellent bartenders who definitely made the place for me worthwhile. But, they are all gone. For quite sometime, the place has had an incredibly high turnover with new bartenders there practically every time I am there. The. Entire atmosphere always was that of a dive bar, but had a homey neighborhood feel. There is never any renovation and the place is dirty.it is now just a dive bar.
google avatar

Brit J.

Yelp
I'm pretty sure I'm not the only local who thinks this bar is doing it wrong... they are not ashamed to charge wayyyy too much for drinks, it smells like someone blew up a Lysol factory. The awkward thing with the jukebox?? I payed for a song and the bartender had to turn off other music she had playing... it confused everyone in the bar and drew a lot of attention to me. WEIRD. Not to mention, I met the owner while I was in, and she seemed really uptight and sketchy. The whole feeling in there is fake. This is NOT your neighborhood bar. It's got a chain mentality, you're better off going to the Chili's ordering an onion bloom and a zazzy margarita.
google avatar

Grace H.

Yelp
I've been here twice now. The first time was with a guy who goes here a few times a week and tips very well. The second time I went was with some international friends of mine. The service was night and day. I felt embarrassed for suggesting that my friends come here. We were treated like second class citizens. If you go with a regular and they know you will tip well, you will have good service.

Troy M.

Yelp
This bar has a lot of potential but needs so much work. Really question the owner and management.
google avatar

Douglas S.

Yelp
It doesn't get much more lame or soulless than this place. Their idea of design and ambience is to simply put up every neon sign and poster they can get their hands on from their booze distributor.....make the place even slightly less generic and I might consider coming back
google avatar

Felipe Z.

Yelp
went on a tuesday night, and was pretty empty, but fun to be at. Cheap beer ($3 for a pint of PBR) it can be a pretty intimate venue to get to know someone with lower lights and good seating, or it can be the first stop for a wild night with friends. Located in the heart of the little sugar house downtown area, this pub has a great location to start the party, and/or finish it. It has a pool table, a jukebox, and enough space to bring a big group with you.
google avatar

Linda K.

Yelp
I have only visited once so it could be better, but it could be worse. It is too bad that the parking lot next to it is reserved only for Fiddlers. Granted, I still parked there but too bad it isn't shared. Upon entrance, the place had a weird smell that I would describe as a damp, moldy towel. It lingered for awhile but I obviously got used to it. The layout of the bar could be better. It seems so separated with a little area in the front, a small strip of tables across the bar with a few arcade games, and then pool table area in the back that's walled off. Not particularly an open and inviting place all around.

OTc44 ..

Yelp
Service has declined recently. It seems this place is loosing its touch. I was a fan years ago. But as a local there are proper bars in the area.

Josh C.

Yelp
Dope Bar. Great staff!...... but the Mid-Life Crisis 70s/80s Butt Rock Music is a straight downer. Other than the depressing music, it's an awesome place. As far as Sugarhouse bars go, this place has the most character.

David P.

Yelp
This bar has turned into an over price bar. Just raised his prices on all alcohol. No way I want to pay 4 dollars for a pint of there cheapest beer on tap (PBR). They were already high on pricing. They had to close for the covid and reopened it seems the owner needs to make up loss profits. Go to another bar that there pricing is fair.
google avatar

Kedy S.

Yelp
What a fantastic neighborhood bar. Good variety of drinks, darts, pool, foos ball, this is a fantastic place to get your beak wet and spend some time hanging out. Prices are okay, ample space and seating, and a great location. Come get your drink on!
google avatar

ally w.

Yelp
This place must be new, it actually smells clean (like a swimming pool to be more precise)! The bathrooms are spotless, and smell faintly of bleach. Bartender was kind of a spaz the night we were there, but he changed the channel on the tv so we could watch Jimmer BEAT THE LAKERS, so he's cool in my book. We were there on a Monday, so it was pretty quiet. Seems like a great place for a Friday or Saturday night. I'll definitely be back next time we're in town.
google avatar

Samantha F.

Yelp
Macey, Spencer, Jonathan... what a great group of people to get drinks from! They're the best! This place gets stupid-packed on the weekends, so steer clear if you're trying to drink somewhere where you can hear your partner talk. I've also seen a lot of fights go down in the parking lot so always use the buddy system when going to your car! Other than that, this place is cool. Lots of pool tables and a good selection of draft beers.
google avatar

Timothy R.

Yelp
It's only three stars cuz you can drink and don't gotta worry bout everyone goin out to dinner, and crampin your style.... but.. smells like piss and gross restrooms, and the owner sensors the music big time to keep it cluby, why have a jukebox if you take all the music off . Used to be your neighborhood bar, anymore it jus feels different. Maybe the owner could loosen up a little. Maybe remodel the piss... I mean the restroom?...
google avatar

Andrew B.

Yelp
Horrible service. The bartenders are rude, and act like you are an inconvenience. I have routinely been served the wrong drink, and after asking for the actual drink that I ordered the bartender makes a snide remark. Unfortunate, because the bar does have a nice atmosphere.
google avatar

Karli L.

Yelp
Drinks are spendy and the staff is ever changing. Makes one question management.
google avatar

Rich W.

Yelp
This place deserves 0 stars. Sunday afternoon my wife and I looked this place up on yelp. We walked in and bartender said hi. There were 5 guys at various spots on the bar and no one else in the place. We walk past the bar and sat at a small table by a window, within 12 feet of the bar. We wait for about 10 minutes without bartender coming to our table. Another employee sees us from behind the bar and walks past us and out of the room. Bartender looked at us during our brief stay 3 or 4 times. After a few more minutes of no-one coming to help us we got up and walked out. Maybe she can't get out from behind the bar. Not a very good impression on a patron trying to find a new neighborhood bar. We found a bar around the corner called Campfire Grill that promptly served us. You should check them out, not this place.
google avatar

Alex C.

Yelp
Worst bar in Sugar House. If you're going to go there, only go at night. The day time bartenders don't know how to make a drink, they also have a new bartender ever day, that have zero experience. I went there several times with my girlfriend and others on both sides of the bar during the day and it took a very long time to get a beer and my girlfriend ordered a Bloody Mary and the bartender asked her how to make the drink. Bathrooms are nasty also.
google avatar

Spidermonkey J.

Yelp
Decent dive bar but watered down weak drinks. After 3 martinis and 6 shots of Jameson I walked home completely sober. Won't go back and waste $$$ there.
google avatar

Wes M.

Yelp
The dark, neighborhood dive that is also safe and clean. Oh yes, a neighborhood bar at its finest. The staff is great too. Well, last week I counted approximately four new hires. So, I can only say the staff was great. I hope that continues.
google avatar

Heidi B.

Yelp
The bartender Spencer sucks!! He ignored us all night. Made us feel unwelcome. We had to get the barback "max" to get us drinks because he had a personal vendetta. BTW I worked in hospitality, so suck it up. Youre a bartender its your job to make people happy.
google avatar

Kelie E.

Yelp
Loved this chill little pub. The bartender told us the left-hand side just opened a few weeks ago and it looks nice. You an tell it's been remodeled. Drinks re cheap, seating is cozy, music is good and the people are friendly.
google avatar

Eric D.

Yelp
A nice 2 bar establishment. Some comfy seats at tables, great for watching sports. My friend and I came out on a day crawl, so we didn't stay, but it's the kind of please you feel like you could put in a session.

V T.

Yelp
The set up of this bar is really random. They started on one side and took over the space next door but they didn't knock down the wall to make one big area. There's just a doorway connecting the two spaces. I suppose it is nice because each side has it's own vibe. The south side feels more neighborhood divey while the north side is generally really dark...but still kind of divey. Not in the dirty dive kind of way. Just not really fancy. Both sides are fairly small so seating is definitely cozy when it's busy. I don't mind the crowd here because it's not full of bros and hipsters. It's a pretty mixed crowd but everyone seems to keep to themselves. The drinks are a little watered down in my opinion but the bartenders are nice and drinks are cheap. There's a bartender there name Spencer. He's always a sweetheart and it doesn't hurt that he's easy on the eyes ;)
google avatar

Scott R.

Yelp
Just a great neighborhood bar. Drinks are the right price with a great selection. Bartenders are nice and easy going. I will be back soon.
google avatar

Annie P.

Yelp
Loved going on a Wednesday night :) - not busy filled with great crowd and staff!
