A really fun hidden speakeasy that’s tucked in the back of Octo Seafood Bar. Check out my video and Maps screenshot for help locating the bar, since the current Maps location simply shows it as within Octo Seafood Bar.
This bar has a lot of great things going for it, including the fun menu set up of “poisons” vs. “antidotes” (the poisons being higher alcohol percentage). The atmosphere is halfway between nightclub and romantic dinner. They have a DJ who comes in around 9:30pm.
The drinks are all pretty interesting. I liked the lychee Paloma a lot—it was sour, sweet, and a bit spicy. My only criticism is that the sweetness could be toned down a bit. I tried “The Butterfly Effect”—a mixture of hundreds of types of liquor—and it was, well, expectedly kind of gross. A fun concept anyways. I was also able to order one of my favorite drinks, a mezcal sour. It was pretty tasty, though I needed to add more lemon for extra sourness.
Overall, it’s a good experience, and the staff is very helpful and friendly. I’d certainly come back for a date or bring a group of friends here. I feel like this is a proper pregame spot. It also isn’t too far from Bar Us and Freaking Out the Neighborhood, if you want to go speakeasy hopping!
