10 Wheelchair-accessible National Park Trails in the U.S.

"A half-mile paved loop beginning at an accessible visitor center that provides year-round accessible bathrooms and parking; the trail runs under second-growth forest along the Little Pigeon River and is one of several accessible options in the area, alongside routes like Bradley Fork and Little River Trail." - Evie Carrick Evie Carrick Evie Carrick is a writer and editor who’s lived in five countries and visited well over 50. Nice level, paved trail. Only about .5 mile around the loop. Not crowded. Two old chimneys and lots of trees. Quiet and relaxing. Easy hike.

A beautiful quarter mile trail with a few benches along the way. The forest is dense, so you can't tell how short it is. All paved and shaded. A few spots by the river to sit, fish, or hang up a hammock.

Great short loop hike for little kids. We used it as a chance for them to stretch their legs, but you could easily have a wagon/stroller here. Safe, open and plenty of spots to walk down to and around the stream. It’s a short distance, but you can take your time sitting or playing by the water. Very peaceful and wasn’t crowded when we went. We stopped here on our way back down from Newfoundland Gap/ Kuwohi. The parking lot is small so we parallel parked by the road. No restrooms, but you’re not far from town here.

Paved, ADA accessible trail really immersed in the park. Beautiful forest path with views of a stream. Flat half mile walk and we saw tons of birds and even a few deer.

Absolutely loved this trail! It’s all concreted with beautiful nature views, access directly to the river & small spots to take a rest break in between. Only .5 miles, great for beginners.

Paved trail good for a stroller and easy for young children to finish without getting tired. My husband caught two trout in a short time. Lots of handicap parking available. The whole loop is shaded and stays cool.

Easy-to-find trailhead near the Visitor Center. Sufficient parking (when I went yesterday). I walked out for 1.5 hours, then turned around. Signage is good, the trail is in good condition, I really enjoyed walking by the stream for the first stretch, and overall was a lovely hike.

Beautiful and accessible trail. It was an easy loop and not crowded at all. Paved walking path made it very easy to navigate.
