Amazing ski trails beautiful breath taking views! But they don’t come cheap lol. Got two beers in the Bullwinkle cafe halfway down was 28 bucks. But definitely worth the experience.

A great place to ski much of each snow season. Don't know if I'll ever forgive them for removing the gondola but I suppose they felt they had to do what they had to do.

A heavenly oasis. My parents taught me to ski here when I was 5 and it's where I taught my son when he was 8. He already far surpasses my abilities! We take a week long trip here every season but I won't give up my secret of what dates to come to have the resort to ourselves. As much as i adore my fellow skier, having the mountain to ourselves is priceless (and also much safer. Lol)

Sugarloaf Mountain Review Beautiful area with some of the best terrain in the East. Nature all around, crisp mountain air, and nice steep slopes that’ll challenge and reward you. Just a heads up—the weather can shift fast, so come prepared. If you want smooth navigation between the lifts and your lodging, I’d avoid the very beginning or end of the season when conditions can be hit or miss. Pro tip: For a more private mountain vibe, hit it on a weekday in late season. You might sacrifice a little in conditions, but you’ll gain a whole mountain to yourself.

Another great season! Thank God it's so far north and cold. It's still snowing there when raining everywhere else! Great place to ski and ride. Easily a top destination in new england. If you haven't been you should, really long runs. The do need some high speed lifts upgrades however.

Went on a POW week and it was the best. Hadnt been here since i was a little kid and i remembered it being intimidating and Icey. As an adult - Great experience. Great staff. A well run mountain, with plenty of challenging terrain. It was really crowded- which happens- and was a bummer but I still had a blast. This is definately a skiers mtn with an added resort feel. Better for advanced skiers and riders. Not great for novices or jerries. Alot of very good riders and skiers from the local area. Great vibes. Loved it - thanks loaf!

I really enjoyed it here. Snow quality was great and the mountain had a great feel to it. My only complaint was the very long lift lines that I think could be more well managed but I may have just come on a busy day.

I got to play a round of golf here on vacation about a week ago with my wife riding along. We were both very impressed with the awesome views around the course. It's a breathtaking layout, especially with the fall foliage coming in. The course's par 5 holes were very challenging, but I had a great round at this pristine course. My wife and I have already talked about coming back here for another round of golf sometime or to ski here!

Buyer BEWARE...I paid for participation in the XTerra race, showed up on time, got my jersey and number, started the race and felt great...my FIRST race. I paid for the company, I paid for the experience...I got an experience and some company...just not what I expected. I was told if I mis-understood the directions I was clearly incompetent, and therefore disqualified. When I proceeded to follow the rules, I was forcibly removed from the mountain just shy of the summit...by Carrabassett PD (owned and paid for by "the mountain"). I got treated to a ride in the Police Pickup down the hill...a trespassing allegation and told I cannot come back for at least 365 days. The owner AND their paid security force...are always right in Carrabassett...just remember that. Good luck!

Fantastic ski resort! Great terrain and snow management. Super quad is a great lift. King pine is where the fun is though. Get there early the parking lots fill up by 8am.

I have been to Sugarloaf twice, and each time I have been less than impressed. I'll start with the positive: The Sugarloaf resort is large and has a lot of options for dining and drinks. The main lodge even has a small bar for quick cocktails and drinks, which is situated by an outdoor fire. There are restaurant options for everyone, breakfast or lunch. There are also places that open at night for dinner offerings. The terrain of the mountain is also great. It has long trails, with varying difficulty...but getting to these trails has been the difficult part. In the two times that I have been to Sugarloaf, chairlifts have been closed and it condenses the people that are on the mountain, which results in excruciatingly long wait times and congested trails. In my most recent trip, we waited an hour just to get through the line and get on a chairlift. We only got in 4 runs in a matter of 4 hours. We left feeling pretty disappointed and vowed that we would probably never come back.

Great place for beginners to learn to ski. Great vibes. Gary Wright at Perfect Turn was phenomenal, and a great instructor to request for the early group classes and one-on-one instruction.

Trails that were closed were not marked either on the app or interactive trail map forcing us to go to either very icy or trails with tons of moguls! Scout that has a "smiley face" as easiest way down was full of moguls with many crying children and struggling skiers that were not expecting something so challenging. Very icy terrain was not marked off and caused my daughter a head injury and had to be taken down the mountain by ski patrol

Hikers beware of inconsistent uphill policies. Came all the way to hike Sugarloaf, Spaulding and Abe. The uphill policy as of Saturday night was 25$ to go up Sugarloaf, but when we got there Sunday morning, they denied us access. Turns out they updated their policy the morning of. I'm disappointed that a big resort wouldn't have better communication, especially when they allow purchasing uphill passes online in advance. Pretty shady.

Sugarloaf is the highest lift serviced ski mountain in the state of Maine. It is in a snow belt, so gets an abundance of natural snow, but they also have an extensive snow making system. It has a very tight year-round community of residents and condominium owners. It is just a lot of fun to be at Sugarloaf, whether you're skiing, playing golf, or eating and drinking and it's many restaurants. If you are a skier or a golfer, this place needs to be on your must see list!

SKI MAINE's BEST! I did it. I caved. I'm officially a season pass holder, and I couldn't be more excited about it! Every time I visit the Loaf wins over more and more of my heart. The mountain will challenge you as much or as little as you'd like, and will provide you the right balance of consistency and newness to keep things fresh (especially the powder - ha)! There are many lift options to keep the crowd spread out (with the exception of the super quad which runs fast as least) and various dining options: bars, restaurants, cafeteria take out, food trucks -- and my favorite-- Urban Sugar doughnuts. While do-able for a day trip, I recommend staying up there and doubling down on a weekend. In addition to alpine, there are tons of backcountry and cross country trails for other winter AND SUMMER fun. Fat tire and mountain bike riders would be in heaven here alongside XC skiiers. Side note: Am I the only one DYING to get into the resort hot tub after a long day?

When it comes to skiing in Maine, nothing else compares! Sugarloaf gets great snow, has the most and steepest terrain in the east, and it's community is unparralled. As the town slogan says, "From here on out your life will never be the same". Come see for yourself all that Sugarloaf has to offer! Stay at the Nestlewood for a cozy b&b feeling or the Sugaroaf hotel if you want to be close to all the action. Get a bag burger and beer at the bag, and some donuts from Urban Sugar to satisfy your sweet tooth!

Ski the East at its best. Love this mountain!! I went with my daughter preseason, the day before Thanksgiving. Not a lot of snow, and how many trails are open, but still a great day to be out on the slopes. Much to our dismay, Sugarloaf got a foot of snow that night and now they are often running. We will be back soon.

Best ski mountain in Maine - easily. Next to Stowe, this is the best ski mountain on the East. They have a lot of hard-core and very challenging terrain here. You have to go on a good day. If you go on a bad day, you are not going to have a good experience. It is a very cold, and windy mountain. So dress and plan accordingly. The couple days we were there it was epic. They opened the backside (first time in 2-years), first day we were there. It was gnarly. Pretty extreme stuff. About as close to West Coast as you can get, I am willing to say it was as good as a lot of West Coast terrain. There trees skiing is excellent also. The steeps are only good when they'are not a sheet of ice. I haven't skied here in the Spring but I imagine it would be pretty d*mn good.

We had a great time. The staff at the hotel were very nice. The golf course is in great shape the the entire staff go out of their way to make you feel like it is your home course including outside services and a special thank you to John Dibaise.

Cold, not a lot of snow, and rude customers. First visit in 40 years and no significant improvements. Unlikely to return.

My fiance and his brother are big golfers and play a bunch throughout the year. I, on the other hand, don't play and typically avoid watching. However, I always make an effort to ride along when they play Sugarloaf. The course is absolutely beautiful, and has plenty of amazing sights! I would recommend if you are a golfer or a fan of awesome scenery.

Our family has been season pass holders here at the loaf for the better part of the last decade, giving this mountain thousands and thousands of dollars every year. We convince friends from near and far to join us here for weekends all winter every year, adding even more revenue to this establishment. Recently, one of our friends' young teenager accidentally grabbed my daughter's (also a child) pass instead of his as he left out condo to ski. He was stopped at the super quad and interrogated. His father stepped in and took the blame trying to explain the mistake. They treated him with extreme disrespect and couldn't accept that his child had made a mistake. They called the police, charged my friend the price of a ticket ($120) for "stealing" my daughters pass (they all had passes) and said they couldn't ski the rest of the day. Ok, I get that I guess. But then they confiscated my 13 year old daughter's pass and said she can't ski for two weeks!!!! So they are punishing my friends for "stealing" AND my daughter for being stolen from????? It can't go both ways. Either they stole from her (which they did NOT! It was an honest mistake made by a kid!) OR she gave him her pass illegally (which she did NOT! She had no idea. She didn't want to ski because it was too cold and we ski here every weekend all winter) , but not both! This is no way to treat anyone, much less loyal customers like ourselves. You just lost some of the most loyal customers you have. Between our two blended families, we purchase 12 season passes every year and we love coming here. Not anymore! This was not the first time being treated completely unfairly, but it will definitely be the last. In addition to our 12 passes every year, we have close friends who also purchase season passes (3 families with 6 people in each family. Do the math). None of them will be renewing their passes going forward.

I am not one to write reviews but this one needs to be said. I am a snowboarder and have been since 1989. When I needed new bindings I bought them from the Burton shop at Sugarloaf for the 1 on 1 service. That is when I met Ed and the team. I was wowed at their knowledge and genuine want to please, I could just tell that they really believed in what they were saying. After some time the bindings began to fail and that very same team grabbed the bull by the horns and made it right, because they really did care about me. And I got new bindings immediately after they investigated. Now if you want the same service then shop there rather than online.

Came up on a Sunday after it had dumped 10+ inches Friday and Saturday night - boy oh boy, Sugarloaf didn't disappoint. Conditions were great, basically no wind and soft snow over every trail. I've heard Sugarloaf is usually quite windy and as a result closes some of their higher lifts (i.e. Timberline), guess we got lucky. The trails were nicely designed, I was hoping for more mogul-based skiing (bombing down the mountain isn't my kind of fun, thank you very much) the kind one can find at Killington, but it wasn't a dealbreaker. The Snowfields at the top of Timberline are mind-boggling if you get to them on a powder day, some of the best above tree-line skiing in the Northeast. Steep as heck, but you still feel soft snow instead of shitty ice as you turn. Sunday was a great day to come too, locals/kids in the morning, but it basically clears out by lunchtime. I must've had every lift to myself after 12:30 pm..! By the by, the SuperQuad lift is most excellent; fast, and they even have little trailmaps on the handlebar! This was a cute little feature that I wish more places had. Sadly, it's kind of far from Boston (4+ hours). Since the price is usually the same as Killington, I'd probably go there instead. Or Sugarbush.

Caitlin C., Sugarloafer since 1988. My love for Sugarloaf borders slightly on fanatical. How do I distill 20+ years of memories and experiences into one little yelp review? How do I explain the feeling I get in my heart when I spy that little blue and white triangle on a passing car? How do you describe that magic moment when you round the bend on rte 27 and see Sugarloaf in all its glory? What makes this lonely mountain in Maine so special? Maybe it's friendly faces that greet you at the ticket counters and lift lines? Faces like the late, great Dennis Parsons, who always had a kind word and a smile for everyone. Perhaps it's the challenging and varied terrain? With the only lift-serviced above-treeline skiing in the East, Sugarloaf offers up the Snowfields and the Backside to those who crave steeps (go in February or March for the best conditions). For the more aerially inclined, there are multiple world-class terrain parks and half pipes. And for the beginners Sugarloaf has a pleasing variety of friendly green circles and blue squares, as well as lesson programs for all ages and skill levels. And of course we can't forget about their team of elite snowmakers and groomers who work hard every night to ensure the best possible skiing conditions each day. The mountain also boasts excellent slopeside accommodations, restaurants (see my review of the Bag & Kettle), and a handful of bars to quench your apres ski thirst (the Rack is owned by Olympic snowboarder Seth Wescott). There are also many events that occur throughout the year: concerts, races, Reggae Weekend, College Week, etc. When the snow melts, there is still plenty to do at Sugarloaf. The golf course is truly spectacular (don't be alarmed if you see a moose on the fairway). There are also great trails for bike riding and hiking. Sure, Sugarloaf isn't perfect. It is often plagued by subarctic temperatures and howling winds. The drive up is long (but totally worth it) and the roads are winding. And some say the night-life leaves something to be desired, but when you've skied hard all day who really needs more than a few pints at the Bag, the Rack, or the Widowmaker? Well, this review barely scratches the surface of why Sugarloaf is great. In the end, you'll just have to head up to Maine and experience it for yourself!

Sugarloaf is touted as the largest ski area East of the Rockies. And that may be rightly so, when Phase 1 of 270 acres of glades opened last winter in Brackett Basin. And then comes the additional 135 acres and 250 acres of Burnt Mountain opening in Phases 2 and 3 respectively, for a total of 655 acres. With all that acreage, you would imagine Sugarloaf to be one behemoth mountain, but you'll soon realize it doesn't have the height and vertical that you would expect from the Midwest mountains. I found it to be short and wide with a quirky chairlift system that takes multiple chairlifts to get to the peak. When a base chairlift goes down, this can cause major headaches as all the skiers start to funnel to the other chairlift causing long lines. This is exactly what happened when the Sugarloaf Superquad closed, and everyone flocked to the Double Runner East & West, causing 30-40 wait times. If the snow and weather are good, Sugarloaf can be a skier and snowboarder's paradise. But when it's not, it can be hell. One of the good things about Sugarloaf is that it has a lot of the European-like hotel flair, with long green trails that extend past multiple condo complexes making for plenty of ski-in / ski-out places. There is also a good variety of on-mountain restaurants like the Bag & Kettle, Burrito, D'ellies, Widowmaker, Gepetto's, that are very affordable and family-friendly. There are a few off-mountain restaurants worth checking out such as The Rack and Hugs. So if you're thinking of visiting Sugarloaf, prepare to make a roadtrip as it is secluded from civilization. But expect to come to a very family-friendly and welcoming mountain. The food and accommodations are worthy and I would definitely come back to Sugarloaf, when the conditions are right.

Aside from Saddleback, I really enjoy Sugarloaf, Brackett is a ton of fun and there's so many options. I caved and bought a season pass, but it's so worth it. Most of the people I met there have been nice and helpful and the views are just breathtaking

I like the place, but the ski patrol in Maine are a bunch of wusses. They close down perfectly skiable trails way too quickly. I'm also a little irked by them opening the Superquad at 7:30 for Gold Pass members, but making me stand and watch as empty seats were going up the hill. I booked a room on the mountain for 3 nights and bought a 3 day ticket. I'm sure that total for lodging, food, and 3 day ski ticket cost just as much as this "Gold Pass" does and it sure would have been nice to let me hop on the chair a few minutes early. I only get up here once a season from South Carolina and a little better hospitality may have convince me to come more often rather then heading to Vermont.

I am shocked that no one has written a review about Sugarloaf Ski Area yet. What's wrong with you people???!! Perhaps Mainers have yet to start going nuts with the reviews and that Sugarloaf is a really shitty long drive from Boston, MA. I love Sugarloaf. Yes, I would marry it if possible, I would roll in its powdery, sometimes icy, mostly granular snow from the snowfields to the farthest reaches of the Snubber lift every day, and that, my friends, would be a VERY long roll. Sugarloaf is the tallest ski resort in Maine, has the most trails (yes, it counts all of its cross over trails which can be many), definitely has the longest runs, and plenty of un-frequented glades. Sure, Sugarloaf is expensive as hell; the winter passes are a frickin butt-load to pay for. But they offer the occasional deal, like e-tickets ($105 for a 2-day pass), student/military prices, half day passes, and vouchers (if the skiing really sucks). But while you may scratch your head wondering what sets Sugarloaf apart from the rest, please understand that it's the "village feel" at the base lodge/Inn area, which really is unlike any other resort, at least in Maine (I have not been to Killington, but I'm true to my home state). You can start your afternoon at the Widowmaker with some beer and really bad cover band, then make your way to Gepetto's for a family meal or Black Diamond for a steak. You can shop your heart out in one of several ski, gift, and/or convenience shops. It's grand. And when you're done with that, just ski your way down the snubber very-much bunny trail and straight to your condo. Ahh, the way life should be.

Buyer beware!!! Last winter I wanted to surprise my son with the 3 mountain pass for Christmas morning. I spoke to the online rep via chat and got all the information prior to purchasing the pass $279 I believe was the cost. He's a full time student at UMaine and we have a home in the lakes region close enough to Loon where it would be worth having it and we try to hit Sunday River once or twice a year so you get it. Well after purchasing the pass, you can choose which mountain to receive it from and we chose Sugarloaf because I spoke via chat and they assured me that it would be no problem for them to mail it out to me and what a great gift idea it was said the person on the chat exchange. So I gathered everything I needed, his transcripts from UMaine, Student ID and two different photos for the pass that they would issue. This is where one person doesn't know what the other is doing, I was told firmly once I contacted them that "No such thing is available and they have to be here in person" this really ruined the Christmas gift, my son had no car to get to Sugarloaf and of course week after week he couldn't get a ride to the mountain and ultimately because of how busy he was in class and with studying never got the pass. There's no refunds which I get but they really misinformed me and I also by the Ikon pass and could have easily brought my son to Loon with me on Christmas break and had his photo taken there, but this wasn't an option because we chose Sugarloaf to handle the transaction. Needless to say I won't be giving this mountain another dollar of mine and my son has promised to hold up his end of the boycott. It saddens me because I know how mountains operate and hand out passes like candy to radio stations and corporate schmucks that let them go to waste. I wouldn't mind by they really bamboozled us and didn't offer anything on their end. In fact I would be that paid receipts is sitting in the draw still where they keep for when people show up for their photos to be taken. That said it's about 4.5 hours from our house in Boston and thankfully other mountains have a better attitude toward the consumer between here and there. This loaf is stale, and we are on to a fresher mountain like Loon or Sunday River et al.....

Sugarloaf the mountain? 5 stars. Sugarloaf ski shop? 0 stars. Do not buy gear from this place. The ladies who work here are BEYOND unhelpful. Our family has a condo up here, and it started with my younger cousin who reported awful customer service. Next day, my boyfriend had purchased some goggles which fit terrible. We were never informed of any policy saying they couldn't be returned. The foam was defective so the plastic nose piece left a crease on the bridge of his nose and were completely uncomfortable to wear. We brought the receipt back hoping for some help. 3 women ganged up on him, told him he was out of luck unless he sent them back to the company, and that was "the only answer" and if he didn't leave they'd call security. He never yelled or raised his voice, but they continued to yell at him saying "you got the managers answer, you can leave now." Several other customers looked at us apologetically, some actually came to apologize to me for the terrible service. Come to sugarloaf, ski, have a blast. The slopes are great, just don't go to the ski shop. Ever. Spend your money somewhere where they actually care about their customers.

I'm sure there is not a better mountain on the east coast. However, there are some caveats. Oh God is it expensive. A regular, one day lift ticket, will run you over 70 bucks. I've skied at much better resorts for considerably cheaper -- and yes, this is a New Yorker complaining at how expensive something is!! Dear Lord, the rental area is set up in the most terrible way imaginable by Satan himself in full collaboration with the State of New Jersey. I went to rent a helmet and found a never-ending line of people, poorly organized, waiting to pay at one of just two slow-moving cashiers. It was appalling. The lift lines were no better -- I don't think I've waited as long in any lift line, East or West Coast. The snow, however, was wonderful. Any day where it is cloudless, single digit temperatures, and perfectly groomed, is worth of celebration. I effortlessly took hundreds of turns, bombed a few runs, and generally had an amazing day on the slopes. The snow-making was annoying, though, as the slopes didn't need it -- it just made things hard to see and more difficult to ski. If you're looking for good terrain on the East coast, this is the place to go. It's a shame, however, that one has to accept such good with such bad.

Even though there was ongoing construction (8am-4pm hours only, thank you) during our stay, it was a nice place overall. We came for the fall colors, leaf peepers, ya you betcha. We enjoyed hiking around the development. We thought we'd hike on the mountain, but the front desk staff and the chairlift staff (it was running on the weekends) didn't recommend it due to the quality of the road and the steepness of the terrain. I'll take their word for it, they know this place better than I. Comfortable beds, a/c and heat systems finicky. Very helpful and kind staffers all around in the various restaurants (we visited 45 North, the Strokes golf cafe/restaurant, , Java Joe's, and Gepetto's). Not all the restaurants were open during our stay (bag and kettle, and clams for example), probably due to the staffing required and lower number of guests pre-ski season. The lodge filled up on the weekends, there were three weddings during our week-long stay, and they took place on the last weekend. We went to the fitness center too, which was pretty nice (we went to the pool, indoor-goody goody). I'm guessing that at least a few folks actually walked down that mountain because we ran into a few through-hikers of the AT trail who walked down it because the trail was flooded and they had to detour. Fascinating.

Holy crap it's a long drive from Boston. It felt like most of our driving took us off 95 and onto some town roads which made it seem like an endless journey. I'd say about 4.5 hours from Boston to Carrabassett, with a stop at Popeye's Fried Chicken at the rest stop in Kennebunk. It was a cooooold weekend and most of the lifts were on wind hold one of the days, so we went snow shoeing/cross country skiing around the golf course. We rented a friends house that was near the golf course too. There's a shuttle that comes around about every 20 minutes and takes you right to the base which was okay. The alternative would be to drive to the base but you'd still have to get on some kind of shuttle to get to the base anyway (unless you'd like to walk, which is always fun). Most of the terrain was open and they are always blowing snow (which could also be seen as "ice" because that's how it feels when it hits you in the face when you're coming down the mountain). There was good snow coverage. We followed the sun around the mountain looking for the softer snow. There's a good variety of terrain for all levels, however, I found that some of the blues were a little more difficult than other mountains. And, some of the blacks were more like blues... The staff at the ticket area/guest services were pleasant and friendly. I stopped in the ski shop to possibly get my skis waxed and sharpened but balked when I saw $40 price tag. There are other mountains that will do a good job for $25. Sugarloaf seems very off the beaten path. For a long weekend, it was a nice visit. But, the drive is painful unless you're a local.

Easily my favorite ski resort in the East. The variety of terrain is incredible and the scenery is absolutely gorgeous (including views of the Bigelows). The best part of this mountain is the fact that there is only ONE base area! This resort is Sunday River-ish in size, but it doesn't have annoying trails that connect base lodges. Since Sugarloaf has only one base lodge, its easy to find and meet up with everyone. And now Bob's Clams is there. I could go on and on about Sugarloaf's awesomeness...

I spent the winter and had a nice time. service was good employees friendly. I thought the food in the hotel was overpriced for the quality and portion. the skiing was in general very icey but that is what I expected. My only complaint was the efficiency I rented for the season 6015 Penobscott Circle. it was dirty and really in bad condition.

I've always been more a Sunday River guy than a "Loaf Guy" but a great friend has a place up here and convinced us to purchase a condo and told us that once you are part of the community, Sugarloaf is the place to be. We are just about one year in and I have mixed feelings, granted the last year has been a pandemic, so that requires some context. The skiing is usually amazing: the snowmakers, groomers and lift ops are usually on top of their game and create an awesome environment (although we did have some issues this year with disgruntled lift op personnel a few times). Bubblecuffers was amazing once it started and our son has had a great year and grown as a skier tremendously. The process of getting into Bubblecuffers was another story: never received a callback, was told we were on the list for signups, then told there was never a list, tried to pay numerous times but no one took our money to guarantee his spot, on day one we could never find the assigned coach, didn't know the assigned coach wasn't even working there anymore, we never receive updated emails but other parents do, and there is no communication about next year at all. Trying to reach a human by phone is near impossible. We've been trying to GIVE OUR MONEY for season passes for next year but no one can seem to help us, the ticket window says you'd have to stand in line for at least 10 minutes to do the transaction, no one will call us back to answer what seems to be a simple question, and considering they can't send emails about my son's Bubblecuffers I don't feel confident anyone is going to respond to an email I send to a general email account. As far as on mountain, for the love of all that is holy, please improve your signage! It's nearly impossible to know what trail you are on since they all intersect, cross, mix, etc. Overall, our first year as "Loafers" and condo owners has been great until we have to interact with anyone that actually works for Sugarloaf.

My bum is still smarting from the last visit. It is a magnificently vertical and acute angled peak to come down most likely contributing to its icy nature. The slopes are never too crowded and the deals during the week are pretty darn good. You get a 10% discount if you buy your lift tickets online and if you have a Maine ID, it's only $35 on Wednesdays! One of the best resorts in Maine for late season skiing/riding. Just wish the hills were a little less painful to land on...=/

This is my all time favorite course. Three friends and I planned a weekend golf trip to Sugarloaf and it exceeded all expectations, and they were high to begin with (we were willing to make a 4.5 hour drive up there for Christ's Sake. Needless to say I plan to go back again next summer. The views are absolutely breath taking, the course is unreal and takes advantage of the scenery on every hole. Even the starter was the nicest I've ever dealt with. Just truly genuinely nice people everywhere and a course that will make you wish you brought a better camera for all the photos you'll take. You owe it to yourself to golf here, it's worth every penny and will make you wish you lived within a closer drive of it.

Sugarloaf has always been a fave of mine. For overpriced New England skiing you certainly have more of a chance of getting what you pay for here. The slopes are never too crowded (due to the location). I learned how to snowboard here about 12 years ago- the beginner terrain is pretty good but don't be fooled by the neverending flat beginner hill (especially on a snowboard). Be sure to stop at Bullwinkles on the slopes. As far as overpriced resort food goes- this place is great. Love the pizzas and the chicken fingers.

I stayed here on a Friday, and then ski's Saturday morning. Sadly, the upper lifts were on wind hold, so they only had the lower level and one mid level lift. At first I was disappointed, but then I found out they were offering free Cat rides to the top :) The Snowfields were closed, as were most of the new tree skiing area, but I was able to do some poaching just fine. The room was amazing. The trees were amazing. The facility and service was amazing! Not the cheapest, especially since wind is such a problem. I love the place, but will likely not go back for a long time because it makes more sense for me to ski in VT, as I get an extra day of skiing cuz it's closer.

David F, Sugarloafer since 1990. I took a trip to Sugarloaf and the conditions were amazing. Blue skis, lots of snow and none of the notorious wind sugarloaf is known for. There is one issue i have with this mountain that still irks me. We went to the top because we wanted to ski White Nitro, the steepest trail on the east coast. Man was it steep. I hear sometimes they put a net at the bottom to keep people from flying off and apparently somebody died on it a while ago. So we go down and I fall three times. Basically, White Nitro owned me. When I finally make it to the bottom and get on the next chair lift I noticed something terrible. My balls were gone. Sugarloaf, and White Nitro specifically, had my balls and I needed to get them back. I got back on the Timberline chairlift determined to get my balls back and got to the top of White Nitro and was dismayed to find White Nitro was closed. I looked around to make sure the coast was clear and snuck under the rope and did the top half of White Nitro again. I fared much better this time and managed to get down without falling and retrieved one of my balls. But the second half was also closed and there was ski patrol all around so I couldn't manage to sneak under the rope to snag my other ball on the way down. This was our last day skiing for the year and to this day Sugarloaf still has one of my balls. It's annoying to me that it may not be until next year that I am able to reclaim what is rightfully mine but until then I hear I can get by just fine with one.

Can't.Say.Enough.Good.Things!!!!! This was my first trip to Sugarloaf, so I have been a Sugarloaf'er since 2012. I have been skiing New England from 92 - 2000, then CA and CO from 2000-2008, and now back in New England since 2008. First time I justified making the three hour journey up. And the first time I could afford a hotel in non-peak season prices. The mountain was huge, but of course, for spring skiing, we only had a handful of trails. Still, challenging terrain, long runs, and friendly staff. Can't wait for a better 2012-2013 ski season to come back!

If you're from Maine you know that Sugarloaf is now a tourist trap. Its overpriced and each year the lift tickets go up, I swear. If you want good affordable skiing head elsewhere.

There is so much to like at Sugarloaf. The facilities, mountain, food and conditions have always been just right for me. The prices are reasonable as well. The only thing that keeps them from earning 5 stars is the consistently poor customer service. Through the years, I've had problems with issues ranging from honoring discounts to getting answers to the simplest of questions. They've always ended up doing the right thing or helping find the answers to my questions but only after initial resistance. My recommendation is less fight, more service. I understand this is a busy place but a few minutes on the front end saves a lot of time and hassle on the back end. Customers just want a positive experience so drop the arrogant and pretentious attitudes and work harder to make Sugarloaf the best mountain in New England that we all want it to be.

This week I took a few days off to ski. What I saw was nothing short of amazing. We watched 2 ski instructors from "Perfect Turn" ski school do the greatest job teaching these twin girls how to ski. The instructors names were Kit and Scott. They all were having such a great time! What a wonderful way to get children to love to ski! My hats off to the ski school and to Sugarloaf Mountain!

My family has been coming here for years. Diverse terrain for any boarder and skier. If you go head to the bag for the best burger of your life!

My favorite place to ski and snowboard in the northeast. The terrain is varied and it's never too crowded. The best thing about Sugarloaf is how friendly everybody is. I have never dealt with a rude employee and I've been coming here since I was a little kid. I can't wait to go back.

I have been a Sugarloaf'r since 1983. This is a mountain unlike any other in the world. Some of the coolest people you will meet on earth work, ski and play here.

It's hard to beat skiing at Sugarloaf. Bubblecuffer is one of the most interesting and challenging ski trails in the world. Some of the best ski parties in the country happen here including the famous Reggae Fest.

This is a big, expenhesive, large, nearly european style resort. They claim that they are the largest ski area east of the rockies, but boyoboy, it can't be, because it takes much longer to get down at Mad River Glenn! So MRG must be bigger. Also, -1 star, they are biggest because they have a large area that is not open. at least, it was not open the week we were there. they report huge amounts of glades that I just could not get onto. I can be the largest if I don't have to have it open. The brochure (and there are lots of brochures), look like they are not appealing to skiers but investors. so, part of it is meh, and the condo-motel is meh (our room was infested with canadians, see other review), and they cut some corners. But, the mountain is pretty cool. Look for the moose alley run if you have kids, or so I'm told. also, use the disconnected lifts to your advantage, it makes some runs uncrowded. The ski school was helpful and I learned a lot.

Welcome to the best mountain on the east coast! All the amenities, the people, and the slopes are fantastic and I'm happy to call this place my second home. It keeps getting better and better with every season. Ski on! (Or board )

Sugarloaf is a huge mountain! We skied screaming fast groomers, long bump runs, and best of all, glades! Everyone here was friendly and we loved it!

Third world infrastructure. The power went off on January 1, 2017. Only one lift was working on diesel back up generator. Poor eating options , very expensive for what they offer. Too bad, the area has potential but the owners just do not understand skiing. Just taking advantage of hungry people with the love of this wonderful sport. Any village in Austria is 10 times better. Has it ever occurred to you the power lines should be underground? Like the rest of the ski world ?

As good as it gets for skiing in the East. Great for beginners to experts. Dress warm though, the winds and exposure keeps it cold. The staff is friendly, some great instructors, and the mountain has everything you need. The drive is worth it!
