On the Grid : Suicide Sue

"Despite the morbid title, Suicide Sue is a place of happiness in the form of waffles, freshly baked bread and Sencha green tea. The cakes taste as good as they smell so grab a seat, a magazine and treat yo’self." - Gabby Lord

I experienced a racist situation. On Saturday, August 23, I went with four friends who are all European nationals, except me — I have a green passport. We were a group of five people. At the entrance, there were two bouncers: one, who had tattoos on his face, was kind and let us in. But suddenly, the other bouncer — whom I describe as Black only for identification purposes (please understand, I truly do not mean to be offensive or racist by using this word; it is simply the only way I can describe him to make it clear who was working on August 23) — saw my green passport and told me: “No, you are not going in.” Yet it wasn’t my first time there, since I had already entered before.

We had an amazing experience at the club yesterday. To be honest after reading the reviews I was a bit worried but the experience we had was just amazing. The entry people were also very nice. The music was too good. 3 stages. The bartenders were also super nice specially Nick. And we had a great night. 🥰

Bar staff, music and atmosphere were perfect. We had a fun night. I just don't like door staff making reasons up to not let you. If you don't like us in for whatever reason (age, vibe, outfit, mood, company, ...), I am old enough to just take it. Saying, there are not tickets left, when they still sell them, is just dishonest. Well, at least they could barely refuse entry after we bought them from a passerby outside the club, so we still had an amazing experience in this otherwise perfect club.

Felt unsafe as a woman. Me and the girls I went with all had individual negative encounters (mainly- if not exclusively, caused by creepy men). At times the crowd was not too kind. Mainly at the bigger, inside stage people were quite selfish. The outside stage was much friendlier. Though, the employees were lovely and the gin tonic was wonderful (and affordable!! €7,50!! Haven’t seen a G&T for that price in years). The toilet situation was horrible though, especially as a woman. To get to the stalls, you have to pass rancid smelling urinals and there were only four bathroom stalls available. The queues were not too bad, though.

I am very angry it is the first time in Berlin I see a welcome with 3 security are not very professional so I have my ticket I come at 3 am he told me we are not closed and the club closes at 5 am and my friends downstairs it is very unfortunate I strongly advise you not to visit this place thank you all 🤬😡🤬😡🫤

Google
Average Berlin Techno with Tik Tok Vocals. People were ok, a lot of guys were just there to flirt so it felt more like an average night in a club rather than a unique Techno Experience. The bouncers and security were rude, angry and aggressive. The toilets were poorly located(as a women you have to walk through the pissoir) and also they were super crowded and dirty. 20€ entrance for that is a joke. Will not come back.

We had a great night out here. The music was really good and there was plenty of room for dancing in all 3 rooms. Employees were kind.

Aggressive bouncer and coordinator that kicked us out while we were working at the event. It was supposed to close at 6am and at 5am they came saying that we had to leave (we were participating at a market in a party with our brand). Not a safe space for queer people & women, won’t come back.

Yelp
Didn't have any issues getting in on a Thursday night (2 guys, neither being German). The girl asked us at the door if we knew what music was being played (which I have to admit was borderline insulting given that I'm a pretty big techno fan). Maybe she was trying to screen people who responded EDM? This place is pretty small. Basically one room, and a bar to the side. No outdoor space when we went (weather). Also, there's no interesting features inside. The music was a little like Prodigy at times. It was pretty hard, even by Berlin standards. Cover was 8 euros on Thursday. Goes all the way till 9am.

Yelp
So fun. Love the techno, it flowed through me throughout the night for sure. Ea$y to get into, just be sober enough at the door. Loved the interior into exterior layout of the place. There was a giant tree next to dance floor like cmonnn. First club I went to in Berlin, didn't let me down. Will be back for more times at the suicide techno. We lit. We stay lit.

Yelp
It's been a while since my last visit at Suicide Circus. However, I still admire their outdoor area and the location is great. If you're new to the Berlin nightlife this club is probably a good choice! The cover is moderate, interior very crafty, bouncers not necessarily friendly but definitely not rude or arrogant(!). The door policy has been very fair and as long as you're not drunk or rude you'll get inside.

Yelp
Expensive cover and pissed off bartender, small space and the crowd isn't local (mainly internationals). Some street kids grabbed a few girls on their way in, but the bouncers are more than happy to walk you out. Not my favorite.

Yelp
We made friends with some locals at a new club that was too full to get in. They then took us here and we loved it. The place was unique. The place was like a maze. It was fun to go around to enjoy music, to dance, and to chill in booths. I wish we had a place like this back home.

Yelp
Smoky and loud and freaking amazing. As tourists, we met plenty of berliners and also other tourists here. We came at 4am on a Saturday morning (it was a holiday weekend, Easter, so maybe emptier than usual) and are probably the three LEAST BERLIN NOOBZ around, and they let us in. It had a great vibe. Not as mainstream as places like Matrix, also not as local as places like Greismule. Had a SUPER FUN time though and was p much sober lol. Could feel my organs vibrate w the music.

Yelp
Hard to get in without at least a girl to accompany you, so a big no no for guy groups. Other than that , a true electronic sound club with all the colorful bunch of characters you would expect to meet. Great feeling , somewhat dark and good prices .

Yelp
The worst club I have ever been to. Would leave negative stars if possible. The atmosphere was so creepy and did not feel safe or fun at all. If you like happiness don't go here.

Yelp
Awesome club to enjoy the deep and hard Berlin techno, the atmosphere and the people are both very cool and relaxed! The fact that this club is open from friday afternoon until sunday, makes it very attractive for the hardcore -techno fans. Overall a great club, when you are in berlin, dont forget to add this one on your list ;-) Min: the toilets are absolutely disgusting

Yelp
I've been there 1st time. There are inside and outside space.

Yelp
suicide circus definitely felt more touristy than aboutblank and berghain. the outdoor space was cute, but the inside was pretty bland. the music was good though, really hardhitting techno also suuuper loud bring earplugs

Yelp
You walk in and it screams Berlin! The queue took a while, but it was worth the wait. This was a night to remember. I definitely wouldn't be able to do this every weekend, but I was only in Berlin for a a few days. My friends and I wanted to experience Berlin nightlife. The night we went, the DJ was awesome and the music was some intense electro. You just couldn't stop dancing to the music. Only thing I didn't like was that people were trying to slip my friends and I a drink the whole night... Other than that, my friends and I had a blast dancing the night away. Thanks for the wonderful night in Berlin!

Yelp
You wanna dance till 10am to the best electro music possible? Then you have to go to Suicide Circus. I love everything about that club. Can't wait for summer to come with the open outside area. Dance while the sun is rising. Tha shit!
