An overall good and tech-forward hotel. You can connect to their Bluetooth speaker system in your room, there were a few other techhy type things that were quite smart.
Welcome and advice for a day in Rotterdam was great. My room was small but had all I need. More water is available free on demand. You can also scan a QR code and find out about the history of the hotel building and your specific room. (Mine had had a historic door turned into a desk/table).
The lounge/bar area looked nice (though I didn't use it) and my room had a great view of the river that is across the road.
But...they charge 24 euros for breakfast. The concept is they serve you some parts of it, but unfortunately what they served either wasn't made fresh - fruit salad, which was nice but clearly not made fresh, rolls and croissant (same), and cheese, which sadly was all sweaty, so had obviously been left out for a while. If you're going to serve people directly keep cheese in the fridge, slice it when needed and then serve it. For the price I'd expect that. I asked if they had some in the fridge as it was all sweaty and they got me some different cheese that was better, although didn't seem super happy about it). The other issue was that I ordered an omelette. It arrived burnt on the outside, and still runny on the inside, and probably with only 2 small eggs. Again for 24 euros this was embarrassing. Indeed, I'd rather have gone in the kitchen myself and made something better.
This dampened my feeling toward the hotel. I did tell the relatively inexperienced woman at checkout when I left. She apologised and said she'd let management know. But I've not been contacted and I've not been offered any kind of recompense.
For context I've travelled all over Belgium, NL and into Germany on this trip and this was the worst breakfast I've had in a hotel unfortunately, and at the highest price.
The hotel overall is good, well located and very good service, but if I stayed again I'd avoid breakfast, which I only really took because there didn't seem to be good options nearby at any kind of decent morning time. I'd rather pay more for something enjoyable where I don't have to spend my time actively trying to avoid food poisoning!
