Poggio Ai Santi, San Vincenzo, Southern Tuscany - Explore & Book

"Venture out of Chiantishire into southern Tuscany and you'll find equally good wines, pine-fringed beaches and fantastic seafood... and the bucolic Poggio Ai Santi. High on a hill, 13 gorgeous suites filled with olive-green furniture, driftwood and botanical prints on whitewashed walls sit within a magical garden overlooking the vines, the forest and the sparkling Med. In the distance, Elba (and sometimes Corsica) float above the haze. Lavender and rosemary scent the air and birds and bees abound, drawn by a multitude of plants and flowers. Wander through the irises and lilies, under a canopy of pines and palms, to find an immaculate lawn, pink roses hugging iron pergolas, and a fantastic pool. To top it off, Il Sale, Poggio's restaurant, is worthy in its own right, drawing in both tourists and locals to create a buzz that's often missing out in the sticks. This peaceful hotel was Dominique and Francesca's family home until they decided to share this spectacular spot with those lucky enough to find it. Highs Perfect for couples thanks to its tranquil, secluded setting Fantastic home-grown, seasonal food at Il Sale, plus an experimental bar serving up exciting and delicious cocktails The spectacular views from the Sea Superior Suites, which also have a private outdoor tub on their balcony - ideal for honeymooners Outstanding service from Francesa and her team The stunning Mediterranean garden filled with flowers and an idyllic pool Lows The restaurant varies its opening hours and days from month to month, particularly during low season (October-April), when it is occasionally shut Sound carries very clearly between the Garden Superior Suites, which is at odds with the peaceful, romantic set-up Families will miss out on this lovely spot: no children under the age of 12 years old are allowed. A blessing for some! It's pricey during the peak season: visit in spring or autumn instead" - Emma Taylor

Oh… my… god…. This hotel is simply amazing!…. How on earth it’s listed as a 3 star, I have absolutely no idea!… we loved it so much, after our 3rd night (we’d booked a 5 night stay) we added another night! (We had to change rooms, but the hotel made it all so seamless and efficient, we hardly noticed) All the guests and staff were so respectful and quiet (massively helps they have a no children policy!)… the whole area from dining to relaxing by the pool, was just that, relaxing! Every direction you look there are amazing panoramic views, which gets you grabbing for your camera! The breakfasts, lunches and dinners (two options of restaurants) are so unbelievably good. All the food is either locally sourced or homegrown on their farm. We stayed in one of the ‘glamping tents’. With its own private pool and kitchen facilities, it was a private retreat, within the hotel grounds. The views, interior design and cleanliness were all of the highest quality…. It took a night to adjust to the ‘natural’ outdoor noises, but hey, it’s camping (kinda!) Honestly, I can’t rave about this hotel anymore… and again, why on earth the 3 star rating!

We chose Poggia Santi because its site promises “luxury” in the english version and Booking.com bills it as a “Boutique Hotel – Adults Only.” Paying €1 300 for two nights, we expected genuine high-quality. What we actually found was an agriturismo with a few premium touches.|What we enjoyed|• Bungalow & bathroom – Tasteful décor, and the bathroom is truly superb.|• Dinner staff – Warm and professional.|• Homemade products – Excellent house-baked bread and their own olive oil are definite highlights.|• Setting – Lovely gardens and sea view create a very relaxing atmosphere. Nice swimming pool area.|• Dogs friendly|What let us down|• Dust-track arrival – Access is a long, unsurfaced farm road; our car finished the trip looking like it had crossed the Sahara, and a 4×4 is clearly mandatory. No hint of this when booking.|• Value versus price – At €650 per night we expected top-tier service:|• Mussels were “sold out” at dinner, then reception implied we’d misheard.|• Cocktails were far too strong. We asked to switch to wine—of course we still paid in full, but the bartender could at least have offered to adjust the drinks.||• Housekeeping – The room looked fine at first glance, but cleaning was only middling: lots of dust in corners and on surfaces—certainly not luxury standard.||Poggia Santi could shine if it branded—and priced—itself as an up-graded agriturismo instead of a luxury hotel. Right now, the marketing sets expectations the property can’t meet at €1 300.||This feedback is shared solely to help improve the guest experience.||

What a beautiful stay we had at Poggio ai Santi! Every detail was attended to from pre-booking to checking out. Andrea was helpful in guiding us to his favorite wineries and restaurants all around the coast. The food was exceptional and variety on the menu was perfect. And the views! Incredible. We really enjoyed our stay and walking around the property. We had a nice visit with the donkeys and goats, too! We will definitely be back to visit all of the other wineries that Bolgheri has to offer!

The best place we stayed in Italy! Poggio ai Santi was exquisite …the rooms were spacious and cozy, the property and gardens were stunning, the view was priceless! We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed an excellent dinner at the hotel restaurant for both. During the day, we visited the nearby Etruscan ruins (Populonia), stopped by the beach, strolled around the property’s gardens, hiked in the nearby trails, and relaxed with a bottle of wine and good books on our private deck. Would love to return in the summer to enjoy the pool and beaches, but spring was quiet and peaceful and beautiful. Would be a great place to stay on your way to Elba. We adored it!!

I can say without a doubt this was the best place we’ve ever stayed. Everything was absolutely wonderful - best food I’ve ever had in a hotel or agriturismo by far, amazing service and management, room was stunning (nature lodge with sea view), the grounds and facilities perfect, the location by a wild beach great for walking the dog and swimming (there was not a single person there in April). We cannot wait to come back!!!

Exquisite attention to detail, utmost connection with nature and the surrounding area - exceptional food and staff - worth every minute. Our stays are never long enough at Poggio! Curated wine list, interesting staff and amazing views with Corsica in the distance. Make the time, you will be glad you did.
