This was my first time staying at a hot spring hotel in Japan, and Suzantei Club Jyozankei truly felt like stepping into another world. Tucked away in a secluded part of Jōzankei, the atmosphere is calm, peaceful, and incredibly rejuvenating.
I traveled from Sapporo by local bus and walked the short distance to the property—only to later realize they offer a free shuttle if you book ahead! From the moment I arrived, the staff gave such a warm and genuine welcome that it immediately set the tone for the entire stay.
My room had its own private hot tub, paired with traditional Japanese design touches that made the space unbelievable. The public onsen areas are separated for men and women, and soaking in the outdoor bath while snow was gently falling was one of the most surreal and relaxing experiences of my whole trip.
And the food? Absolutely phenomenal. Dinner and breakfast were served in a private dining room, and the quality, presentation, and flavors were some of the best I had in Japan—no exaggeration. The in-room drinks, cozy lounge with snacks, and peaceful tea area were just the icing on the cake.
This place is truly worth the journey. I’m incredibly grateful I got to experience it, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, luxurious, and unforgettable onsen getaway.
