The Best Hotels and Resorts in Asia: The Gold List 2025

"At Suján Jawai, even the sleepiest of heads will find it hard to resist rising early and hopping into an open-top jeep to bounce over ancient granite rocks in search of Rajasthan's wild leopards. Rewilding efforts have helped to protect a rare balance here, where humans and animals live in harmony and mutual respect without conflict. The camp has sleek, uncluttered tents and a pool for cooling post-safari dips. Hearty, healthy food is made with ingredients from local farms and the camp’s kitchen gardens, and tales of the day’s leopard sightings are recounted over G&Ts by the campfire. Hearing the low rumbling call of a leopard reverberating off the rocks in the darkness, you’ll realize there are fewer more magical settings than this. From $1,490. —Nicola Chilton" - CNT Editors

SUJÁN Jawai is an amazing experience in a truly unique setting. The tents were beautifully designed and spacious, with nice terraces. The included drives were very good, we had a great guide (Siddarth) and very talented driver (Kapil) - we were very happy with our leopard sightings. The layout of the common areas (library, bar, dining, etc.) was a bit strange and disjointed (it’s much better at the sister property in Ranthambore). Swimming pool was very pleasant. All the staff were well trained and friendly. Food and drinks were very good, but we would have liked more Indian options (e.g. dosa for breakfast) to balance out the extensive international options. Cocktails were OK, but not cold enough.

A truly outstanding experience and camp. The environs, ambience, service and food were all sublime. This property is slightly remote - which is a joy, although it perfectly dissects the journey from Jodhpur to Udaipur or vv. The welcome, care and relaxed atmosphere is so calming and this wilderness is the perfect balance to hectic cities. This camp has the best staff I have encountered in 25 years of travelling. Their relaxed smiles, expertise and uncomplicated ease of service is a very well balanced and winning formula. Thankyou.

We stayed for 2 nights in February in Sujan Jawai , the experience was outstanding. Rooms was fantastic , service and food was excellent. Our Ranger Chaggan was fantastic and in the 4 safari drives we took , we had amazing leopard sightings in all. The quality of everything in Sujan was superb and outstanding. Amit from the front desk alongwith Vikas the general manager did a fantastic job in taking care of us. Our butler Narayan was attentive to every detail of ours. We were upgraded to the Royal Suite and the experience was out of the world. They made our 50th wedding anniversary really a memorable one.

Having first visited Sujan Jawai in 2015 as a solo traveller and having raved about my experience then, I was slightly hesitant when booking my return trip - this time with my family - would it/could it be as good as I'd remembered?||Well, I should not have worried - this trip was to celebrate a 'milestone' birthday which was spent at Sujan Jawai - and our stay here was the highlight of the trip. It's hard to describe just how special this camp and its location are - but it's absolutely up there as one of my favourite safari destinations. I was also able to appreciate the rewilding work that the camp has undertaken and which has led to a huge increase in the leopard population as well as the variety of bird species and other wildlife. Our guide, Arpan, was simply superb and we saw leopards on all our drives - even on ones where the focus was on enjoying the stunning scenery!||The camp itself is faultless - the tents are beautifully appointed and equipped, including yoga mats on the terrace!||The staff are just incredible - everyone is so professional and attentive. On the day of my birthday, the staff set up a stunning private dining area and I was given the most wonderful cake.||Thank you to everyone for making my birthday such a truly memorable one - and we hope to return again soon!

Very nice camp. Great rooms, very good staff and guides. The location is great for seeing leopards. The jeep rides around the countryside can be very rough, but very safe. There is a lot to see and the rangers are very knowledgeable and happy to share their knowledge. The restaurant is very good, presenting both continental and Indian cuisine. They are happy to give you a sample if you are unsure of what to have. It seems like everyone's job is to make your stay memorable. Not an inexpensive place to stay, but considering everything, a good value.
