Suk Jai Thai Restaurant

Place is lovely and clean and some of the staff have a nice customer service face. We found the yellow curry very bland and watery. Also the pad Thai was lacking flavor. Tried the kiwi colada which is like a pinacolada but with kiwi fruit, it was tasty.

A surprisingly authentic Thai restaurant i. Whangarei. There are a lot of choices including gluten free and vegetarian dishes. The food is a little bit on the sweet side and not quite spicy enough if you're from SE Asia. But they probably have to adjust the temperature to suite the kiwi tastebud so that's understandable. Service was great and the wait staff were patient and courteous albeit they don't speak Thai. Food was well prepared, authentically seasoned, and came in generous portions. I had the Penang suj jai which was phenomenal. In fact it was so good that I took two spoonfuls before I remembered to take a picture. Parking is a bit challenging as you have to park on the street. I'm not sure whether it's OK to park in the parking lot shared by a bunch of chain restaurants a block away.

Suk Je Thai Restaurant offers great Thai cuisine in Whangarei. We've visited several times and are always impressed by the quality of the food. The indoor and outdoor seating options are comfortable, and the staff is consistently friendly and attentive. The dishes are not only delicious but also well-priced. If you're a fan of Thai food, this is definitely a place you don’t want to miss in Whangarei. Highly recommend!

Something about their coconut is quite delectable as recommended by my friend. Their wait staff is courteous and helpful, the seating and atmosphere feels quite grand, and dishes are very tasty and well done. Decent price for the quality and amount, feeling very well fed and content. Busy atmosphere yet the seating feels intimate and not too squeezed together. A gem of Whangarei!

The staff were quick to clear and clean our table just as the previous customers were leaving it. The staff were focused on ensuring all customers had their needs met and staff communication was good. The food was delivered quickly and was absolutely delicious. There was a good selection of beverages, alcoholic and non alcoholic, that went well with our food. The outdoor area was brightly decorated and the music was relaxing. Highly recommend for people who want a delicious and no fuss meal experience. Thank you to all of the staff for the experience 😊

What a wonderful experience. The service was amazing, calm, friendly, positive, professional and fast. The food and delivery was divine also. We had a mango smoothie and a strawberry smoothie but delicious and also entrees, Chicken Pad Thai and the Sizzling plate. Book in early because it was packed and busy all the time. We will definitely be back! A+

The service was fast and friendly. The food was very hot for takeaway. I ordered one dish mild but it was spicy. Lots of food for the price. Would order again but be careful of the spice. Great place.

The manager at this resident, when asked to make a dish specific to our liking, his arrogance stood in the way of making it right. Since he said he knew better, he'd prefer we not return again. Which is fine since we wouldn't. He was rude, callous, and unexpectedly defensive. We're not sure what happened here, but he lacked compassion and an ability to accept feedback. Be warned among the many fine reviews. Notice those other reviews are old.

Great food, great prices and service. As good as the local Thai food in Phuket. I have Dined in and used their takeaway service. Service and presentation is spot on. Perfect Thai. I have taken friends who internationally been to a lot of very good Thai restaurants and they rate this as awesome as any they have been to. And for them to say this is a testament to this restaurant.

I've been to Thailand. This restaurant could be in the middle of Bangkok. The food is spot on, the service is exceptional, and the restaurant is vibrant. Like Bangkok, the outside of the restaurant tells you nothing about the inside. The outside looks bland or stripmall-like. The inside is cute and welcoming. I've struggled with being gluten-free in New Zealand. SukJai is the first place I've eaten here that had gluten-free choices on the menu. If you have food restrictions, this place can handle you. Highly recommended.

Learned about this place from a local. She highly recommended it as authentic as the owners are Thai. The food is excellent as is the service. Loved that we had an option on heat (spicy) levels on most items. They even had top grade take away containers.

While driving through Whangarei we were hungry, so we tried to have some Thai but this place was closed after lunch until dinner. So we had fish and chips from the place next door (excellent by the way). We were driving through Whangarei again and wanted to have fish and chips, but that place was closed, so we had Thai. Boy was it good! We had the money bags as appetizer, and Pad See Ew and a curry. The noodles were some of the best I have had, and my boyfriend though that this was the best Thai he has had in New Zealand!!!!! We are definitely going to make this place a must stop on out trips up North. The ambiance is nice, and the servers are kind Thai ladies. They take reservations, as I imagine it gets full during high season.

Looking for a place to have Sunday night dinner was tough in the city. Chance upon review on yelp for this Thai restaurant, went to take a look and quite a few people were having dinner so we decided to try it. The food was authentic and we had a good dinner. Will not hesitate to recommend this for anyone passing by Whangerei. They also do takeout. Clean toilet. Free parking outside the street.

Yummy authentic Thai food. The Thai beef salad is suppppper yummy! Nice big space and a great menu to choose from.

Without a doubt the best Thai restaurant in Whangarei. Highly recommended. I have been to all the Thai establishments in town and this is always consistent in quality, service and value.

don't let the exterior fool you, driving we were hungry and settled for this quaint little restaurant - we were seated and chose our meals, boy were we stunned. meals were absolutely delicious, it has to be the best Thai restaurant I've been too. it was traditional and you could taste the flavours not like traditional western Thai were you can't taste it as much. very yummy. recommend to all
