Sukawati Art Market

I travelled from Ubud to Sukawati Art Market using Trans Metro Dewata. You can pay easily with QRIS or e-money cards like E-Money, Flazz, etc. The market itself is clean, and the prices are quite affordable as long as you’re good at bargaining. Most vendors will go down to about half of their initial price. I arrived around 10 AM and many stalls were still just opening, but there were already plenty of options to browse. Overall, it’s a great place to shop, just make sure you negotiate!

In September 2025, my friend and I visited Indonesia for the first time. Sadly, Bali had 48 hours of heavy rain. It took our Driver three hours to come pick us up due to the flooding. Most of the activities on our list we could not get to, due to the flooded roads. We wanted to go to a market, so our Driver took us to Sukawati Art Market. I got some cute items for my family and friends back at home. I believe Sukawati Art Market was in 3 or more buildings and each building had at least three floors of vendors. A lot of items to choose from. We shopped for an hour, then had to continue to our new hotel.

I never felt this happy shopping. If you love bargaining and getting things at very cheap prices this is the place.

⭐ 4–5/5 — A Bargain Hunter’s Paradise! Pasar Sukawati is one of the best spots in Bali for traditional souvenir shopping — as long as you know how to bargain. For those who are comfortable negotiating, this place can easily be a 5-star shopping experience. But if bargaining isn’t your strength, you might find it closer to 3–4 stars. A major tip: bring a local friend, family member, or tour guide if you can. It helps tremendously in getting good prices, and locals know the usual price range so you won’t get overcharged. Another important reminder: ➡️ Don’t fall in love with the first item you see. If the vendor won’t go down to a reasonable price, just walk away — there are plenty of other stalls selling similar items throughout the market. Moving quickly and comparing prices is the key to getting the best deal. I would describe Pasar Sukawati as a traditional multi-level mall filled with vendors selling clothes, bags, paintings, wood carvings, accessories, and more. Each level has different sellers, and prices can vary a lot, which is where your bargaining skills shine. They also have a spacious basement parking lot, which makes the visit more convenient compared to many other traditional markets. Overall, this is an excellent place to shop for souvenirs at prices often much cheaper than popular fixed-price stores like Krisna Oleh-Oleh, etc. A true must-visit if you’re looking to bring home authentic Balinese souvenirs without breaking the bank!

Better than ubud market u must have to bargain with sellers. Give them half price of what they quoted. I buy alot of things cheaper than ubud

You can accross two market area, in traditional and building area. There so many balinese art, sculpture, paintings you can buy for Oleh-oleh. Its called shopping art destination. Very cheap and recomended.

The Sukawati Art Market is often promoted as a traditional art market, but the reality is very different: lots of tourist trinkets, mass-produced items, and very little authenticity. About 99% of the paintings on display are simple prints, industrial reproductions with no real artistic value, often presented as local handmade art. Original pieces? Almost none. Prices are high and completely unjustified considering the quality and lack of originality. This is a place built for mass tourism, not for those genuinely interested in Balinese art. A far better choice is to stop at the artisan workshops and small factories along the road from Nusa Dua to Ubud: there you’ll find authentic artworks, real artists, original craftsmanship, and much fairer prices. In short: ❌ Tourist trap ❌ Not authentic ❌ Prints sold as art ❌ Overpriced If you’re looking for real Balinese art, skip this place. This is just marketing.

Don’t forget bargaining the prices offered, some time you can get 50% more. First floor is the handicrafts complex where the above floors are cloths and any others art.
