Right along the side of the road on the main Lassen Volcanic National Park Highway you'll find Sulphur Works. One of Lassen's easiest hydrothermal areas to visit, you can see a bit of it from your car. But if you park, get out, and walk along the sidewalk, you'll see the full area in action.
You'll definitely have the smell of sulfur here, so if that bothers you, just be aware.
There is a small parking lot nearby. There weren't many people in the park during our visit, so we had no issues finding parking. But on busier days, I'd imagine this lot fills up fast. Plan ahead.
Overall, the Bumpass Hell Trail is going to give you the full beauty of the hydrothermal areas of Lassen National Park. But Sulphur works give you a bit of a glimpse and is perfect for people who are unable to complete the hike - you can see so much just from the sidewalk.
