The 5 Best Hotels in Istanbul

"This three-star hotel in the center of historic Sultanahmet is a great affordable option: the staff is very welcoming and accommodating, and each morning there’s a traditional breakfast buffet filled with fresh fruit, cold cuts, cheeses, breads, pickled veggies, and dips. The rooms are minimally decorated and a bit dated but always kept very clean; though on the smaller side, they come surprisingly well equipped with a minifridge, desk, wardrobe, flatscreen TV, AC, safe, and an electric kettle. The bathrooms are small with somewhat weak shower pressure but are clean and include complimentary toiletries, slippers, and a hairdryer. Overall, this is a good no-frills choice for budget travelers who want to be within walking distance of the main attractions." - Matthew Kepnes

Very nice stay. The staff was incredibly nice helpful and very caring. The room was clean and nice. Breakfast was very complete (except for fruit of bread options) and the schedule was also perfectly oriented for tourist attractions. The hotel could not be nearer to the main important buildings, Topkapi palace, Santa Sofía, The blue Mosque… The hotel was quite new but the fridge was not working properly and made a lot of noise at night. Overall it was a very nice and pleasant stay. If you come to Instambul I would strongly recommend this hotel for your stay. Although I think the rooms are not suitable for more than a couple, if you come with kids it will be necessary to book a bigger room (I do not know if they have it)

Special credit must be given to the two wonderful ladies at the Reception desk, who seem to manage the hotel extremely well. Always smiling, cheerful and friendly. In fact all the staff are excellent. The bed is very comfortable, nice towels and toiletries and the rooms are cleaned every day. For a long stay (a week) I recommend an upper room with sea view, as the other rooms are smaller than they appear on the website. The soundproofing is not brilliant between the floors and the room and the corridor. And people nowadays are not respectful of their fellow guests unfortunately, talking loudly on their phones and in the corridors. But to more positive things.... breakfast was good (again the Breakfast attendant lady was great). The location is excellent near the main sites and there is a taxi rank close by. We last went to Istanbul 15 years ago..... prices have risen dramatically, especially the restaurants and major sites, but we are very happy to recommend this hotel.

Absolutely fabulous 5 nights in this hotel. The rooms were great and we were lucky enough to be moved to a room with a sauna! The receptionists were super helpful, kind and nothing was too much bother. Everyone we met in Fatih area were so friendly and our 5 year old grandson was treated like a prince. Upon leaving the hotel we asked for a taxi to pick us up and as it was so early they offered sandwiches which we gratefully said yes to. These turned out to be whole baguettes for all of us. So so kind, we would love to go back some time in the future.

Just spent 3 nights at the Sultan Hamit hotel. It's exsactly the right hotel for a short stay. Very Clean rooms and public areas. Very comfortable rooms: massive double bed, ensuite bathroom, hair dryer, shower, bathrobes, toiletries. slippers, water, fridge, tea & coffee, safe - all included . Breakfast was included and was very good quality but don't expect a Full English. Complimentary snacks in the restaurant each day - great for a restful coffee with the group, after a day's sightseeing. Excellent staff, especially at Reception. Super location, a short walk to Blue Mosque and other top visitor attarctiions. Even closer to bars, restaurants and quality craft outlets. (There probably isn't a poor eatery in Instanbul). There may be better hotels, in minor details or with a swimming pool BUT I will certainly use this hotel again next time because I know I will not be disappointed. Note: There is nor bar but they will happily provide glasses for your own drinks. The hotel does not have a restaurant for luch & dinner but there's loads to choose from nearby. I will put this review of TripAdvisor also.

Very disappointed with my stay. I booked a triple bed family room for my family and infant, but the room was tiny with barely any space to move, and the bathroom was even smaller. Definitely not what you’d expect from a “family room.” The only good thing about the room was the nice sea view. To make matters worse, when we arrived late at night with lots of luggage (which the hotel knew about in advance as I had called the same day to remind them), the receptionist flatly refused to help us. Even after requesting several times—while carrying an infant—he was rude and unwelcoming and just handed us the keys. Terrible first impression. On the other hand, the staff at Hotel Esans, the hotel just beside this where we stayed earlier, came out to help us so late at night with the luggage, even though they didn't have to. The next morning was comparatively better: breakfast was excellent with lots of choices, and the reception staff during the day were wonderful. Oumaima in particular was amazing—so friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The location is also a plus, just a short walk to Hagia Sophia. Overall, great location and morning staff, but the tiny room and rude night staff ruined the experience.

I came in the beginning of August with my family for 10 days and it was fantastic. The location was perfect by being so close, just 5-10 minutes to the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and to the coastline too, as well as being in the proximity of many great restaurants. The staff gave absolutely amazing service too. When we arrived early in the morning, someone came out immediately to take our luggage to our rooms and the check-in was super quick and easy. The staff were so helpful in giving us directions and tips about getting around Istanbul. The breakfast buffet was brilliant with such a wide variety of foods too and we all had a great time. We will definitely come again when returning to Istanbul! Big shout out and once again thank you to Oumaima, Omina, Sedat, Adem, Burak, Emin, and to the rest of the wonderful and helpful staff at Sultan Hamit Hotel who gave great service. A memorable holiday to Istanbul. InshaAllah see you all again next year.

The amazing people at the front desk will go out of their way to help you. Their help have elevated our trip. The location is 10 min walk for the centre of Sultanahmet and 3 minute walk from endless selection of restaurants, coffee, bars, etc. it sits right on the old city walls and from most rooms there's some ocean view. The rooms are very small. The hotel seems to be quite new but the rooms already need some TLC. However, they are clean and have everything one might need

Although room is a bit small and we cld hear some noise as we were near the reception, yet the rooms were very comfortable and clean👍||What is the most amazing about this hotel is the kindness and professionalism of ALL staff members. Always with a smile and ready to help and give advice. A special thanks to Omaima, the wonderful lady from Morocco who spoke french and english and turkish😊😊😊. ||Breakfast has a wide variety and the lady there is always kind and smiling😊 The only issue is that Breakfast is downstairs which can be a problem for elderly persons.||There is no dinner service but they have a hotel in room order and delivery service.||Hotel is very well situated some minutes away from Tokapi Palace, Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia🧡 and some 15 to 20mins walk to Mahmutpasa bazar😊
