The 24 Best Things to Do in Bali

"Hidden between dramatic limestone cliffs, this west-facing beach in Uluwatu is a haven for surfers, photographers, and adventure seekers alike. Reaching it requires descending a set of stairs through a narrow, cave-like gap in the cliffs—an effort that is more than rewarded by the beach’s breathtaking beauty. For the best experience, visit during low tide when the shore is more accessible. Keep in mind, however, that the currents can be extremely strong, so swimming or surfing here should be done with caution. As an entry point to Uluwatu's main surf break, it's a popular spot for surfers. Even if you don't plan on catching any waves, you can still explore the coast and enjoy the views. Entry is free, and its proximity to other Uluwatu landmarks makes it a convenient spot for a dose of nature and adventure." - Travis Levius

Suluban quickly became my favorite beach in Bali. The setting is absolutely stunning, a true paradise for surfers, with great food spots nearby and some of the most breathtaking sunsets we’ve seen. The slightly tricky access, depending on waves and tide, actually made it feel even more special to me, and unlike many other places, it was never overcrowded. That said, the amount of trash especially in the parking area and even on parts of the beach is absurd and really takes away from the overall impression. Still, we kept coming back because the place is unique and full of charm. Just watch out for the monkeys, on one of our five visits, a tourist had their phone stolen from the beach.

Suluban Beach is one of Uluwatu’s hidden gem spots and definitely worth a visit. The beach is beautiful, surrounded by towering rock formations, creating a dramatic and unique coastal vibe. However, it’s not the best place to relax on the sand, as the beach is rocky and not very soft. To get here, you only need to pay IDR 5,000 for motorbike parking, then continue walking down the cliffside path to reach the beach. The waves can get quite big, and you’ll often see tourists surfing here. If you prefer a more relaxed way to enjoy the sunset, it’s best to sit at one of the clifftop cafés, the view from above is absolutely stunning.

Tucked beneath Uluwatu’s cliffs, Suluban feels like a secret pirate cove. You walk through narrow rock crevices to reach the beach — it’s part adventure, part discovery. Wild waves crash against the caves, and the sunset here? Pure magic. Not your average Bali beach — this one has a soul.

The path here is quite steep, so walk carefully. There’s a 5,000 RP parking fee for scooters, but every step is worth it—it’s a really breathtaking beach popular for surfing, with board rentals available. But you can also just come to chill. There are drinks, snacks, and sarongs for sale. Just make sure to take your trash with you!!!!✨🐬🪸🌅

Not so Nice Walkway to Suluban Beach Great for surfer, for the steep walk to the beach takes 45min to Hour. And its for easy for anyone! You have to be fit i WARN you. The stairs are very very steep! Also the walkways or stairs are from the edges of the hotels in the way, which is dirty and stinky

This is such a unique beach in bali. Definitely recommend coming down to this beach if you stay in Uluwatu. Had to pay a fee of 5k per person. You have to climb down for a while to get to this beach. Might be tiring for someone who isnt fit but its not that hard either. Probably 5-8 mins to go all the way down to the beach. There are many small cafes and restaurants located while going down the stairs. We went around 12pm in the afternoon on a weekday and the tide was quite high but it was really beautiful to see those huge waves crash on the beach from afar. If you are not a good swimmer I would avoid swimming there as the currents are quite high. There were a hand full of people, not too over crowded either. After spending some time at the beach, we walked up the stairs to a small cafe' and bought a cold drink and enjoyed the view from above the cliffs. It truly was mesmerising and unreal. I would recommend coming down here after 3pm so there will be less people and you could also catch a beautiful sunset.

One of hidden beach in Bali, but be careful with high tide. Not suitable for swimming and sunbathing, but a lot of surfers came from this beach. Breath-taking beautiful little beach to enjoy for a while. Go here in the morning/afternoon to avoid too much people, also be careful with naughty monkeys here.
