Sumburgh Hotel

Our 2-night stay was very comfortable. The Family room was quite large with stunning views. The room was neat and clean and anything we required they were happy to provide. |It is near Sumburgh Airport, ideal of you have an earlyish flight. The Lighthouse is also near by which situate a good amount of Puffin colonies. Our 6 year old really liked those beautiful birds.| The Quality & variety of Food served was delightful. The Restaurant was kept neat and clean & well stocked.|We would like to thank Grace, Isabel, Loranne, Lauran & Becca for catering to our every need.|We were impressed by their commitment to going the extra mile.|Thank you.

This a mixed review so let's start with the positives - incredible location adjacent to Jarlhof and a short walk to Sumburgh Head for great wildlife spotting (e.g. puffins etc.). A few minutes from the airport and great views from the hotel. The food and service in the restaurant were fine and the breakfast buffet good. The less positive aspects are more to do with the condition of the bedroom that we stayed in - tired, very soft bed, some damaged furniture and underwhelming shower room. Some room refurbishment seems to be in progress so perhaps we were just unlucky.

Stayed her as part of Shetland tour . The staff were very friendly and helpful . The rooms are a little tired and need upgrading . The hotel itself is well situated . Large car park . Bust service and near a beach . Food hit or a miss being vegetarian not much of a choice . Set menu for the tour , on the whole reasonable place to stay

Pretty well perfect! Wonderful location (minutes from the Coastal path to Sumburgh Head, and right next to an idyllic beach, but very close to the airport too). Rooms comfortable, nicely furnished,spotless, well equipped and great views. Restaurant has excellent unpretentious food (steak, fish and chips, burgers etc and outstanding Shetland mussels). Staff unfailingly helpful and friendly. Absolutely everything done just right. A real treat to stay here.

The Sumburgh hotel is situated at the south end of the island between the airfield and the lighthouse and close to two historic sites of early settlers. We popped in for coffee but did not stay the night. Staff were super friendly and provided good local knowledge. I am told the rooms are nice and the food is excellent.

Excellent location for visiting South Mainland. Great walk along the cliffs to Sumburgh lighthouse. Staff all very attentive and friendly. Good menu with very reasonable prices. Early breakfast good for those flying out early. |Room was clean and bed comfortable with great views.

I wasn't staying at the hotel but had dinner here three evenings running, it was so good! A wide selection of dishes on the menu, everything I had was really fresh and well prepared. The puddings were particularly delicious, albeit calorie-laden, but with all the walking I did in Shetland I reckon I deserved to treat myself! Special mention for the restaurant staff who were really helpful and friendly

Excellent comfortable stay at this stylish hotel with scenic views. Thanks to Mark & his wonderful, helpful staff. Breakfast was amazing. Rooms impeccably cleaned. Bar wonderful with nice sélection of beers on tap. Restaurant was great too. Conveniently located for the Sumburgh lighthouse, Jarlshof, West Voe beach & Scatness.

We stopped here for a tour of nearby ruins of the Jarlshof Prehistoric and Norse Settlement and we stopped into the hotel for a snack. We shared the Tomato Basil soup and Chicken Mayo salad. Both were nice, though we had ordered the Egg Mayo sandwich.
