We were staying at the two bedrooms apartment, which normally used as student housing. The room could have been cleaner, especially the toilet and kitchen area. The beds, sleep very good. The breakfast is modest. It has basic breakfast. We like the small swimming pool (indoor only). It has a whirlpool and kid's area. There is nice sauna in each changing room. Towels can be borrowed from the swimming pool. Great location close to the harbour, station and market. We came on the train. At the breakfast, the paper cups for takeaway coffee or tea are provided. Convenient. The inside apartment looks exactly just like the pictures in the website.

I understand that there’s a severe lack of accommodation in the city but it is not okay to charge 5 star hotel price for just student housing. I don’t care that the hostel is simple but at least you should clean the rooms: when we arrived there was pop stain in the bidet shower and the trash bin (with blood stained papers) wasn’t emptied. My roommates refused to take a shower in the bathroom as it was so dirty… We got a parking fee even if we registered the car license number in the reception. Luckily we could cancel it afterwards but it was one more sign how poorly the hotel is run. The breakfast was plenty but almost everything (including coffee cups) was finished and we needed to push the waiters to bring more. The quality of food was very poor: coffee weak and juice horrible. What made us sad that it was obvious that nobody cared about how the food was presented: everything came directly from the package without any effort to decorate it. There are a lot of interesting local producers and it was the best season for fresh vegetables and berries but this was not made use of. The casino building needs a renovation: the “spa” is one simple pool and plastic jacuzzi. The wooden ceilings were a plus though. Nobody cared about the gym and the machines made noise as they needed oiling (that would just take a few minutes). Again a sign that the owners don’t care about the place. There’s a lot of potential in the old building if they hire a skilled architect like in the fantastic Hanasaari hotel in Helsinki from the same era. However, I hope the horrible extension plan building a high rise will never be done. The beautiful old casino building is renovated without love and would need a skilled architect specialised in building conservation. It could become wonderful. The room opening only directly to south was very hot and there was no ventilation so we didn’t sleep well. The positive thing of the room was own kitchen and a balcony with beautiful lake view. I am myself from Eastern Finland and feel a pity that our culture is a bit like in our Eastern neighbor. Our attitude is opposite of western Finland where people work hard and do their best. This hotel could be a wonderful place if someone cared a bit. For example going once an hour to the bathroom and collecting the trash from the floor. As no one was interested in this, I cleaned the rubbish from the floor myself as you just can’t run a hotel like this.

Very nice, very clean student accomodation that serves as a budget hotel in the summer, of course not really low-budget during the Savonlinna Opera Festival, but really priceworthy. The two spacious rooms with a small kitchen and a balcony would have been ideal even for a longer stay. Delicious breakfast, lovely surroundings, service-minded staff, and even the use of a small spa included.

Terrible. I understand it is student lodging, but come on, you could put hangers and soap for the guests! Breakfast at the Casino hotel is sufficient, included in the Vuorilinna price, but the service is bad. There’s not enough staff to refill coffee pots and juices etc. and guests have to clear the tables themselves to be able to sit. What’s happening with the Spa Hotel! I have been there before, but totally going downhill. Paper hand towel machines in the lobby bathroom as an example, one out of three worked then that one stopped also, paper not installed properly.

Very nicely situated on an island with other hotels and a theatre but only a few minutes walk from the railway station and town centre. Not strictly a hotel as the rooms are used by students and the nearby hotel takes charge of running them as a commercial venture during the summer. Checked in via the main hotel reception, the block I was allocated a room in was a couple of hundred metres away. Nothing glamorous, I was on the 3rd floor. My room was a twin with shared bathroom, however this was only with one other room which I'm sure was empty along with most other rooms in the block. Furnishing was basic, but bed was fine, no TV, plenty of storage space. You get provided with towels, plastic cup, shower gel sachets. Bathroom was clean.||Best thing was breakfast, this was in the main dining room of the Best Western hotel. Superb choice of cooked food, fruits, cold meats, cheeses etc. ||Booking tip: By pre-booking on booking.com using a flexible rate, I saw the price drop a couple of times, so a quick cancel and re-book saw me get a good bargain for €55 as a solo traveller.

This is not a fancy hotel and is very bare bones. The room had 2 twin beds, a desk and chair, nightstands, a bookcase and a private bathroom. No art on the walls or carpet on the floor...remember this is a dorm room. But it was clean and for 1 night it was the perfect stay a 10 minute walk to town andvery inexpensive. The best part was we were able to use the pool (which was very nice) and got breakfast at the hotel next door (which runs the summer hotel). If you are looking for luxury or amenities, this is not be the place. But for an inexpensive and unique stay, I highly recommend Summer Hotel Vuorilinna.

We stayed at Summer hotel Vuorilinna (II) for one night. The room located on the ground floor. It was poorly cleaned and the indoor air was very damp(ish) and smelled a bit odd. Fortunately, we used the room just to sleep over night and spend the day elsewhere. Bathroom was ok. Breakfast was ok. The location of the hotel was good, though. Still, the price/quality-ratio was really bad. 139€/night was way too much for this room.

I did not expect much from a 2 star hotell but i never thought to get something this bad. Our room was not cleaned properly. The floor was very sticky, there was no vaccuuming done. The showercurtain had some kind of mold in them. The bed sheets and towels were stainded.
