I stayed here for 3 nights and stayed also at the Summer House in Melbourne so I have some thoughts.
Firstly, the lady at the check in desk didn’t seem too friendly, but I shrugged it off, whatever. Then, once I checked in, I was situated in the 11 bed female which the steps to get up to the rooms are quite narrow and windy, and once you get into that room, there’s another set of stairs to get up to majority of the beds, which I find a bit annoying of a layout and inconvenient. If you have a lot of big heavy luggage, I do not recommend this place.
Then in the big room itself, sunlight although is there is lacking so the room is quite stuffy. They do have fans to mitigate that, but the room deserves more sunlight as big as it is.
The beds are very uncomfortable. It felt like I was sleeping on a cheap mattress off Temu. I think y’all can do better than that.
The bathrooms are all unisex and shared, which is fine and are cleaned throughout the day, but I do feel for a hostel that hosts 100+ people, more than 4 bathrooms are needed esp during those peak early hours. To have to walk down just because there’s only one toilet on the top floor and its in use is insanity.
Kitchen/dining areas are small, but easy to meet others and bond. I did not really use these areas, but they are nice and kept clean. I do think more fridge space is needed for the amount of ppl staying here.
The stay was fine. I did not have any issues really. I would not come back here after my time here. I’m pretty sure there are better hostels in the city within the same price point.
