There were a lot of pluses to out way the negatives. For example 5 negatives were; 1 staff member was rude to my children when they asked for directions to the in door pool. She answered them in a rude way like she didn't want to be bothered. 🤨 Some things in the game room needs to be updated, but it was neat and the kids had fun. The website pictures need updated to show the arcade games are not there. The store barley had anything in it. They definitely need to update the website picture on that. I did not get the 30% discount that it shows on the website because I had already checked out and they don't automatically apply it. Staff says you have to mention it when you check in. 🤔 Last but not least we did find a bug in our room but it was dead. Now for the positives; We really enjoyed the pool areas each time we return from being out on the town. We enjoyed the outside games as well volleyball etc. One night we were there they had karaoke night my kids went they said it was cool. They provided dishes so we could cook, a BBQ pit as well cups/plates and bowls that is all in the lodge. I will for sure bring my family here again but maybe stay in a bigger lodge.

My 12 year old daughter and I stayed here while visiting Schlitterbahn. We arrived late, after the staff was done, and they’d left us very easy check in instructions, with a map to our cabin. The next morning the staff called to check on us and make sure all was well. We enjoyed the 2 pools & hot tubs, the quiet grounds, and the great location. Our cabin was quaint and very clean, with everything we needed. The front porch had a really high powered fan which made it possible for me to have my morning coffee out there. Bring bug spray, it is texas after all! The only downside was the uncomfortable bed. A mattress topper might help. My daughter left something behind and we called to ask about. The staff immediately went to find it and called us right back so we could go retrieve it. Checkout was easy and friendly. Can’t wait to bring my whole family here to stay soon.

Google
This is one of the best places that I've found to stay for a weekend visit, or perhaps long term. The cabins are well kept and serviced daily. The RV pads all have concrete patios and picnic tables. There are mature trees to provide shade and a relaxing atmosphere for camping. The amenities are awesome as well. Indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs are a hit with the guests. Great place for a family vacation, or stay long term.

Located right off of I-35 as you’re entering New Braunfels going north, you can find Sun Retreats Texas Hill Country Resort. We absolutely had a very relaxing and enjoyable experience starting here. The place is excellent condition and the staff, especially Jen, was very accommodating and hospitable. We stayed in a small cottage for two that puts many hotel rooms we’ve stayed at to shame. 2 Outdoor pool, 1indoor pool, 2 hot tubs, a rec room with pool table and games, BBQ pit and picnic table at every cottage, full gym, very nice playground for the kids, basketball half court and a beach volleyball court, amongst other amenities. Very quiet and peaceful. Everyone said hello with a smile. I would rate it a 10 if I could.

Google
Had so much fun with my in-laws. The resort has three pools, hot tub, splash pad, and playground. There a cabins for rent and RV hookups too. The grounds were extremely clean and the resort is gated for extra safety. The cabins are quaint and the A/C works great!

We lived there 6 years. The beautiful property declined more each year. The management is Very unqualified and rude. No one in the management position is understanding of RV full-time needs. Theft is rampant throughout the property, the nighttime "security " is a joke. Our gulf cart was stolen. As well as many things throughout the park, yet if you complain it's gonna end badly for you. Especially when your complaints are supported with facts. I suggest Any RV park is 100% better for longterm. Each month longtime residents leave. All proof of our experience. UPDATE: Obviously by the response to my honest review. The "owner" has no problem pretending it's a Safe place to live. It is Not. AGAIN, the management is rude and unqualified to be logical about safety. NBPD can tell you how unsafe it is there. Vagrants use the showers because of pretend security. Waterlines break on a regular. Yes we lived there 6 years. The location is great. However it is now so poorly maintained and the clientele has diminish to the point that nearly all of the long term people that once were proud to live there are gone. It is impossible to think a business will improve if the Management remains in Denial. Hello Michelle. Have you been fired yet?

Google
Nice place but we stayed here because of there indoor pool, it was closed for renovation. There is no sauna as advertised. We had our rv so can't say anything about rooms but our site was nice and the playground was nice thankful for that at least. Everyone was friendly. Enjoyed walking with my daughter as she peddled that bike up the hills and down. She got some great exercise. Guess next time we decide a winter vacation we will call an confirm everything is working. Overall I have enjoyed being here but can't say hubby and daughter feel the same cause the pool is why we came.

We love staying here. We have been visiting the area since 2018 and they are constantly improving and keeping up the facilities. I love their pool.

Yelp
When we lived in NB we did not know about this place (why would we?), but during our visit we knew we needed more than just a hotel and so glad we found this gem. We stayed in a one bedroom cabin, with a loft. Things we liked: the fan in the living area, full kitchen, the beds were comfy, friendly staff, ability to rent a golf cart, laundry area, playground and pool! Things that could be improved: thorough cleaning after a pet stay (I'm very allergic to cat/dog dander and stayed in the loft with my toddler and if I didn't have socks on my allergies were BAD due to the carpet), a few pieces on trim kept falling off by the door(which normally I wouldn't care but my curious toddler kept touching the exposed nails), no blinds in the loft and shower is SHORT (I'm 5'4" and was bending down to wash my hair). Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. I could see how it could be loud for some people, but our cabin was on the non-highway side so we had a quiet and peaceful trip. We would definitely stay here again next time, just in a bigger cabin!

Yelp
We stayed in an RV site. We had to cut our visit short, so we lost our deposit and the days we paid for up front. It is a nice facility, but make sure you read the fine print carefully. Not sure why you should lose your deposit along with the days you pre-paid for. Oh, well. The one real problem we had was an animal died on the property behind our trailer and was terrible, especially with the heat. Management said they told the owner of the property and that the owner removed the animal. The overpowering smell remained. So we had several days we could not go outside without gagging. Smell remained until the day we left. My husband mentioned it a couple of times. I think something more should have been done.

Wendy W.

Yelp
Not impressed. the only positives were friendly staff and length of site. Dog poop all over the two empty sites next to us as well as throughout the park. Not picked up in the four days we were there. The sites are not conducive for sitting outside enjoying a relaxing time.

Yelp
Now customer service is spreading lies. I never said I was leaving on the 10th of April, Never! I was not "given an opportunity to pay for weeks. This lying response just makes me more angry and determined to get my deposit back. I guess I will take it to small claims court if necessary. I cannot believe the gall of Sun Outdoors. I will be done getting my teeth done at the end of the month. I will return to the New Braunfels area and like some Sun Outdoors properties but will not trust these people again. They are crooks. I made a complaint on their customer service line, everyone I spoke to on the phone said I would get a call back. Still waiting for that call. It's pretty bad to lose a customer for life that has spent thousands at your properties. How many thousands of dollars will Sun Outdoors lose over my life? Now I'm so angry I'll keep calling also. Unbelievable!

Yelp
Overall decent experience. Great facilities. Clean showers. Functional RV spots. 1st cabin not so clean also included some scary aggressive as hell fire ants. 2nd cabin much better.

Yelp
After a 3 hour drive all I wanted to do was relax. Got inside the cottage and luckily I looked at the bed before I laid down. I was beyond disgusted at the nicely made bed with HAIR on the blanket and pillow! In my nice and filled with His spirit voice I spoke with management and they apologetically provided me another cottage. Same size, I wasn't trying to finesse or get a discount the Groupon rate was fabulous The inspection I gave the cottage would have made a housing supervisor proud. The rest of my stay was uneventful; no loud noises that you would experience if staying in a hotel. Tip: 1. Always check your pillow cases and sheets. A made bed does not mean fresh/clean sheets.

Yelp
We stayed in an RV spot for the 4th of July wknd. When we arrived there was a truck parked in the RV spot. I knocked on neighboring doors, but no one owned the vehicle. I called the front office and they immediately sent someone to assist in resolving the issue. Overall, we had a pleasant experience. The pool area was clean and they have a schedule of daily activities. I needed some documents printed and the staff was kind enough to assist me in getting everything I needed. The staff were friendly and helpful during the duration of our stay. They even have free coffee in the store in the morning. They are dog friendly and have several doggie areas for your furry friends to hang out. I was told by some other patrons that there is an "adult only" hot tub but I didn't venture out to look for it. The only down side was the bathroom/shower facilities near our RV were dirty or out of order. Several had an "out of order sign" or just didn't have running water when you tried to turn it on. We found 2 working shower/bathrooms. 1 had the sink full of hair as if someone had shaved. It was all over the floor. The shower and floor weren't clean at all. It looked as if they weren't cleaned/checked regularly. The other working shower had a disgusting dirty toilet and needed a good deep cleaning overall! It surprised me because the facilities attached to the pool area/store/gane room were extremely clean. We opted to sticking to using the RV shower... Otherwise we had a nice visit.

Yelp
This facility really has potential- the downfall is the staff and lack of customer service. The first time we stayed here, we booked with several other families, requesting to be next to each other when we came. The staff told us that it would be no problem, however, when we got there, they gave us a really hard time about grouping us or even putting us in the same area of the campground. This was not a holiday weekend, it wasn't overly crowded. The next time, I booked a 5 day weekend and then asked to extend my stay for one month. I was told by their agent that they do not allow campers over 10 years old to stay monthly. I submitted photos of my camper, asked what their reasoning was, requested any type of explanation and all they can tell me is "this is Sun Outdoors policy- no exceptions." They wouldn't return my emails when I asked for clarification and any time I called to ask about it, they kept repeating "It's Sun Outdoors policy, no exceptions" very rudely. I called the Sun Outdoors customer service line and they told me "if photos are submitted, and everything checks out, Sun Outdoors will happily accept campers over 10 years old," but the Hill Country Sun Outdoors location refused to consider it. Oddly enough, they are happy to extend my stay to 2 to 3 weeks for an outrageous amount of money. My kids had a great time when we visited this establishment. They have a lot to offer. Unfortunately, they don't seem concerned having repeat customers. Isn't this supposed to be a family friendly, fun place to visit?

Yelp
We just got home from a weekend trip to Hill Country Cottage and RV Resort. We had the BEST time! Met some locals who live at the park. We went to order a pizza and while waiting on it we were sitting at an outdoor table when people started showing up and a band showed up. We didn't even know this was going on!! We ended up staying until the end around 10:30 pm. Had a great time! The park is nice and big. We will be going back!

Yelp
I had a chance to stay here with my sister as a mommy getaway. We stayed in a pecos cottage it was small, but perfect for our needs. The location was great for trips to San Antonio or San Marcos. My sister and I loved the pools and hot tubs. We tested the jump pillow as well as the gem mining station and I can't wait to bring my kids. Instruction are printed out so you know what is expected of you prior to check out and the staff were very welcoming. I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
We normally like Sun Outdoors, but the noise at this campground was the worst we have ever experienced. We were in site 80 and just left (checked out 2 days early). From the interstate, train and sirens this was not my idea of camping.

Joey L.

Yelp
We will not return as there are many other RV parks which are so much better and less expensive. When we called ahead to arrive earlier than the 2 pm check in time, the staff member informed us that the site was empty but we would still be charged $30 extra dollars to arrive at 11 am. The sites were close together, muddy, charcoal on the gravel, and full of dog messes. The dog park was flooded, small, and dirty. It was loud as close to the highway. We were also charged an additional $30 when making the reservation to hold our site.

Yelp
Me and my family visited on 5/15/2021-5/17/2021. I purchased a Groupon for this stay and it was worth it. Check in was easy. We stayed in the frio cottage. One king bed and bathroom with shower and tv In that room. Second bedroom has a queen bed, no tv and is right next to the second bathroom and shower. Then there are two pull out beds in the living room, a tv, small kitchen, refrigerator, microwave and coffee pot with coffee and a oven. They provide plates, cups, silverware and cooking utensils and it has a dishwasher with detergent tablets. They facility has three separate laundry facilities you can use Apple Pay or credit card for those. It also has a volleyball court a basketball court a hot tub and outdoor swimming pool and indoor swimming pool. You can rent golf carts to get around for $55 a day. They have a game room with air hockey and pool and other games. The place was very clean and staff was friendly. We look forward to our next vie

Yelp
Very nice Resort. The RV site ads very nice. Many to choose from. They also have cottages for rent. Some of the people have been here for years. Everyone is very nice and helpful. They have pools that ware heated. One inside and one outside. Hot tub. Sauna. Great time. Would highly recommend for a resort in the middle of town.

Yelp
The place was great. It is the perfect get away for a quiet weekend. The cottage was clean and had everything needed for a short stay. I would recommend this place.

Yelp
DONT DO IT!!They booked me and someone else for the same cottage...had someone trying to open our door in the middle of the night I was totally freaked out thought we were getting robbed or something! The woman at the front called me and said we would get a free upgrade. (I thought good they're doing something to resolve the issue) But after putting all our stuff back in the car and going to the office they said idk who called you you're not getting upgraded. So we had no choice but to come back and unpack everything again! STAY AWAY!!!! They completely ruined what was supposed to be a nice relaxing get away! I would NOT recommend!!! Update. After posting this they reached back out and are now upgrading me, this whole experience has just been very frustrating and not at all relaxing. Hopefully after this we can finally relax

Yelp
We love this place. Two indoor pools and one outdoor pool that's heated. Nice size RV spots with big mature trees. Staff is friendly and they are doing a huge renovation project with new roofing, patio furniture and outdoor dining. Great place for the grandkids to play outside. Super close to San Antonio so an easy drive. Perfect location to make it to Gruene or the river.

Yelp
Friendly staff and a neat setup. All facilities are clean and close together. Didn't care much for the train whistle in the middle of the night. I also don't like having to wear a wrist band the whole time I'm there and being told that it will cost me $5 if I lose it or it comes off. Not the place for peace and quiet either. Interstate is very close by and noisy.

Yelp
Even though our site was a little narrow a we enjoyed our time here. We especially loved the shower facilities. Large family size stalls which allowed me to assist my disabled wife bathing. No need to contend with Men's showers and Women's showers. The rest of the amenities were just as pleasent.

Yelp
Great clean park! Stayed a few days after buying our camper. Clean and close to everything!

Yelp
My wife and I were long-term guest at Hill country resort and absolutely loved the staff and the facilities. This resort is a gem in the middle of busy New Braunfels Texas that offers lots of activities and events that will keep you and your family busy with fun and excitement to the point that you may not even want to leave the resort to explore the area. Thank you to all of the management / office staff / house keeping / and maintenance personnel You are family to us and we can't thank you enough for such wonderful hospitality Your friends Keith and Tina Harrison

Yelp
By far the most fun family and pet friendly resort I've ever been to! The children love the bounce pad, spider web, and mining for gold! We laughed in the face of a rainy forecast and got our competition on in the game room. We can't wait to swim in the indoor pool as the lighting gives us a poolside show. There's also lots of social events for adults and kids. live music, new friends, and smores! We also loved that our fur baby has a social life around camp and can make furry friends at the dog park. A definite must stay when passing or visiting the New Braunfels area!

Yelp
We stayed overnight to catch Wurstfest... the actual cottage we stayed in was cute and just the right size for my boyfriend and I...and I liked the option of having a "pet-friendly" cottage!! ********My biggest complaint was the lady who worked the front desk on Saturday 11/14/15 at about 2:15pm. When we first walked in, we weren't even greeted with a "Hello"... she seemed rude and unwelcoming right from the beginning!! We wanted to check into our cottage and she replied, "CHECK-IN IS AT 4!!"...and just stared at us in awkward silence... didn't even suggest for us to shop around the store or walk around or sit at the tables in the pool area to kill time...nothing!!...Call me crazy, but that's what I would have offered if I worked there!!! (and we just drove 4.5 hours to get to New Braunfels) ***There was also a guy working...he kinda looked scared of the lady working with him...weird!!! SPECIAL NOTE TO MANAGEMENT******I was really considering inviting my girlfriends from Chicago, North Carolina, and maybe even some of my cousins from California to visit and stay at the cottage to go tubing next spring/summer... but, that first impression was a total turn off!*******on a positive note, the 2 ladies that worked that Saturday night when we returned to checked-in were pretty nice! ***Is "nice" too much to ask for these days?? Is being "nice" too difficult to offer at a hotel/cottage rental...anyways, I must end my rant here...

Yelp
As the fiancé of a Foreman with TIC we travel quite often, so we've been to quite a few rv parks/resorts. Hill Country Cottage and Rv Resort is by far the best we have seen. The staff is friendly and helpful, it's safe for families, the facilities (pool, game room, on site souvenir store, office, laundry room, etc.) are always well kept and clean. My son loves the pool and the playground. Everyone here is quiet and respectful and the rv resort is in the perfect location to get to the grocery store or any activities you might want to partake in. They provide transportation to and from the Guadeloupe River and have weekly activities for families during the summer. I highly recommend staying here if you're in the New Braunfels area

Yelp
My wife and I booked this place for a week for a house-hunting trip. We liked the idea of a place we could cook, with internet & TV, and have access to a pool/hot tub. The price was similar to that of a hotel, so it was attractive. When we first got there, it was nice. Basically the cabins are half-trailers, and they have all the amenities-- dishwasher, fridge, stove, basic cookware in the cabin, A/C in wall, TV with satellite (no DVR). We were away from our girls, who were staying with the grandparents, and we wanted to skype with them before they went to bed. We got to do it for one night, then the wireless in the resort died. For EVERYONE. The staff was nice, but they kept blaming Tengo Internet for the disruption, but the issue didn't get fixed. Needless to say that was a huge inconvenience as we could not video chat with our girls, or find houses online, or do any meaningful research from our cabin. In addition, there is no housekeeping. They don't even check your towels. You have to go to the main office and get things like fresh towels, soap, shampoo, TOILET PAPER, etc. Oh, and if you have kids, and you want them to do the fun things, like use the game room, it costs EXTRA. Really? I'm already paying a premium for this place, and I have to pay a daily fee to let the kids play in the game room? The final insult was when we had to check out a day early. I said I'd like a refund for the lack of internet, and for the day we weren't using. They said no refunds under any circumstances, even if they were not providing promised amenities! If you don't need internet, you have no kids, you want a quiet place and don't mind getting your own towels/toiletries from the resort, then this place is fine. But ultimately, if I had to do it over again, I would have booked a travelers hotel. At least they would have refunded money for failing to provide advertised services.

Yelp
Absolutely loved our 3 night stay in the Pecos Cottage. Reserved on hotels tonight and got the best deal, $266 for 3 nights! The Pecos cottage is an efficiency and is meant for two but if you are willing to sleep on the floor, cot or an air mat you can squeeze in another person. The room is very modern, yet adorable. It is small but had everything we needed. Front porch is right near your parking spot so you can back up and unload very easily. The bed was a queen and comfortable. Only 3 pillows on the bed, but we'd brought our own, along with a blanket. (they had two blankets) . The tv is flat screen mounted high with remote and cable. The ac is a window unit and we kept it at 70 and were very chilly. No worries about being too hot, which I was scared of when I realized they didn't have central air. They have bowls, silverware, toilet tissue, paper towels, hair dryer, full size coffee maker, Microwave and mini fridge. The bathroom is small but very efficient. Shower had nice pressure and hot water. The only suggestion is have for the resort in this cottage is to check the Bathroom door. It slides to shut and is near impossible to move. I just left it open. Fiance was able to close it with me effort. Thank you Hill country for an awesome stay. We don't have kids yet, but when we do we'll be back yearly to utilize the amenities. They looked like so much fun. Loved hearing a live band by the pool late on Friday night. Love that the amenities are open late. Yet everyone was very respectful and quiet. Don't hesitate to stay here. It's so relaxing and the views of the hill country are gorgeous

Yelp
We booked 2 nights here for a quick getaway to explore the area. We had a Living Social deal and had no issues redeeming it. The cottage was very nice and well appointed. It had all the essentials we could need. We didn't use the kitchen but it was nice to have a full-size fridge. It rained most of the time so the indoor pool and hot tub was great. We had it to ourselves for quite a while on Saturday afternoon which was nice. They have a lot here for the kids to do! The kids liked the loftin the cottage although it would not work well for adults due to the height of the ceiling. We would definitely return, it was a pleasant stay. Only issue was slow internet...we were only there 2 nights so it wasn't a huge issue for us.

Yelp
Older park with narrow sites.. Bathrooms in the front part are being upgraded which they needed. Family park so lots of kids. Showers & bathrooms in back section are single which is nice. 2 pools which are very crowded because its a family park.

Yelp
I rarely post bad reviews but when it comes to endangering the safety of my home, I know I must share my recent experience with Sun Resorts. We've used this park for 316 nights in the past 3 1/2 years (full-time RVers) and although we were aware of a number of complaints concerning Sun Management, we elected to continue staying here as our experiences had yet to be negative. We've had minor issues here before, but nothing on the scale of this last visit. The park has had a significant redesign underway for a while. They are setting up two "gates" of which one is next to what appears to be a future "check in" building then a second entrance to its right with a "NO PARKING" sign prominently displayed (so we did not enter and park there to check in). The apparent "check in" lane was narrow but appeared navigable given another RV partially blocked the area of the secondary entrance. Pulling through the "entrance" was a delicate balance between the building on the left and the metal work for an entrance control with support poles coming out of the ground on the right. The poles on the right had previously been hit by another camper and bent one slightly into our entrance path (did not notice)--ultimately damaging our coach as we slowly moved through. One of the employees commented about the poor design and additional work was needed to correct the deficiencies of what they had. We can attest to that! We filed a claim for repair to our RV and Sun has refused to cover the repair of the damage their equipment caused to our RV.

Yelp
Cottage was nice and cozy and overall the resort was nice. Hot water ran out quickly, so get your shower first. Kids said none of the games worked in the game room and they were "old". Overall we had a great vacation and we're just minutes from the Comal River. We would stay there again.

Yelp
We found this place in Groupon and booked our first vacation away from the kids. We were SO excited. We knew it wouldn't be much, we booked the Pecos cabin which is basically one big room with everything in it. It was exactly as described, but they left out a few adjectives. I'll add them here ;). First off, the entire place is huge! There are a lot of options for style and size of cabin. Our cabin was so aforable. It was cozy and quaint. Not to mention, incredibly clean. There were two settings of dishes, wine glasses, etc. A small grill and picnic table adorns the outside of each cabin. What they didn't mention is that there is a pool, game room, fitness, etc. We didn't realize we could have stayed in the resort all weekend!! The place is very secure, as staff is driving around on gold carts making everyone feel safe. It was a great time for us. We are planning our next trip with a group, I'm excited to see a bigger cabin!

Jason S.

Yelp
We stayed at Hill Country RV and cottage for a few months. We enjoyed the amenities and the area. The communication between employees is terrible so some employees may enforce things that others do not. The checking of wrists bands for the pool during the summer months was very harassing. I understand why they check but the rudeness of some employees was overbearing. Debbie in the office is the rudest employee I have encountered at any campground. She has no customer services skills. There is a certain way to talk to guests. She has no clue.

Yelp
This was my second time staying here. Let me add, I live in this town! But staying here makes it seem like we are on vacation. First stay was a girls getaway and we loved it. Second trip was the best. I took 5 13 year old boys and they had a blast! I was able to lock myself in the room so they had plenty of space to hang out. Two pools for them to use, fun outdoor things to keep them occupied. They talked about it for weeks. I cannot wait to go back!! And the price is very reasonable!

Yelp
We were waiting for our new home to be built so we tried to stay here for a few weeks. There are some fun things to do... if it was the 1970's again. Very old. Most everything is run down and the surrounding area is a bit scary. Make sure to lock your doors and keep everything with you. The cottages are nice and our kids loved the loft area. Staff was helpful but it seemed the management was constantly saying no to requests that would have made our stay better. They were not friendly and made sure you knew who was boss!

Yelp
I came here with my ex last Memorial Day weekend. He had a camper, so we didn't use a cabin, but the cabins looked great from the outside. This place is very well-kept and their restroom/shower facility is clean and in great condition. You can tell that they put some money into this place. If you're coming to NB to float the river and you don't want to deal with the chaos and debauchery at the camp-sites along the river, I'd recommend the Hill Country Resort. I've camped right next to the river 4 times and it's not what it's cracked up to be. I'd rather stay at a place like this and take a short drive to the river. At least I can get some sleep at night and the bathrooms don't look like something from a 3rd world country.

Yelp
On a list minute whim to get out of town for spring break, I found a Groupon deal for this place. With that deal we paid about $600 for 3 nights tt&l. We were in the Frio cabin. There were 5 of us, 2 adults and 3 kids. The cottage had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathooms, a full kitchen including dishwasher, and pull out sofas in the living room. A grill is right outside for your use. BYO chaRcoal. They provide all linens which I was pleasantly surprised that they smelled and looked clean. The floors were clean upon apperance but once you walk around without shoes or just socks, it becomes apparent that it's not that clean. They provide some nice toiletries in the bathrooms, dish tabs for the dishwasher, TP, paper towels, and a full kitchen of pretty much everything you'd need (except for a vegetable peeler in our cottage). The kids enjoyed the game room and jumping pillow quite a bit. If it had been warmer they would have also enjoyed the pools. The cottage also has cable and a DVD player so we rented movies in the evenings. This would be great if you wanted to stay in a homey place and were pretty much gone during the day. What I didn't realize is just how close it is to the interstate. When I think of a cottage in New Braunfels I was thinking clear skies, lots of stars, peace and quiet and clean air. We were truly in the city. I did know this going in once I booked the reservation but would have probably backed out if I had done my due diligence before booking. The property is also huge! More cottages going up just down the little lane we were on. The RV area is huge. I didn't really feel all that safe letting my kids run around the property so we operated strictly on the buddy system. The staff was friendly. We also took our small dog. If you plan on taking a pet, please call them and let them know as some cottages aren't pet friendly. And be sure to read the pet policy before you go. We knew ahead of time that we'd have to take our dog wherever we went because we didn't have a kennel to take for him to stay in the cottage. If they find an unatttended, unkenneled pet you automatically pay $250. Luckily, the weather was gorgeous and cool so if we needed to run into a restaurant to eat he was fine in the car for a short bit. Overall, the cottage was nice for a family and especially if you plan on cooking some meals. Location was not great at all if you want to get away from the city.

Yelp
The cottages were a hit with the family. When we decided to visit the area we wanted a place where our two boys could be boys without worrying about people in a room above/below/beside us. The cottages here were a perfect fit for us! A lot for the kids to do with the indoor pool, games and jumping pillow outside (used to be extra fee, now free). There is no daily room service, but the trash is picked up daily and towels are only a few steps away at the office. My only minor complaint was the WiFi. It's dirt slow. On top of that, you have to sign up for a free Tengo account to access it. In the end, I just ended up using my portable cellular hot spot instead. Thank god for great cell coverage in the area! Also be aware that you're only a block from I-35. So the highway noise is definitely evident (especially in the morning/eve during rush hour). It wasn't an issue for us as we didn't book this place for it's serenity but merely a place to sleep/eat between event-filled days! I would definitely recommend the cottages at Hill Country for those looking for an extended-stay hotel alternative!

Yelp
Disappointed management would not accept my 2 small boys, in the place of my husband, because "cabin" was for 2 persons. I bought as a Groupon getaway and it wasn't a deal, $201 for 2 nights. My fault, yes. Flabbergasted, its an rv resort.

Yelp
Wifi service is terrible. Works when it wants to. Store is useless, very little supplies inside. If you want lunch meat and bread you need to go somewhere else. It's just a waste of space. Little houses are ok they could clean them better. Our unit was dirty with grease on outside of door. Stove is useless with only one burner working and the one that works is leaning so food stays to one side of pan. Prices are high for what you get.

Yelp
Place is o.k, but a bit "rustic" with too many rules. Big satisfier is that the WIFI was NOT working while we were at the RV park.

Yelp
This was my second stay here and both experiences were similar. The cabin and staff are great. The Internet is horrible. Management needs to realize that in this day and time, people need a reliable internet connection to research places to eat or visit. We use it for everything that requires planning. This was probably our last time here due to this problem.

Yelp
Poor service is my complaint. We traveled out of town for work, and I called this place twice only to be given a run around. I was told there were available 2 bedroom 2 bathroom cottages. I setup an appointment to come look at them (to see if they were nice and not roach infested) and they are very nice inside. As I wait at the front desk to rent out one for the next 3 months, I am told they are booked for the next 3 weeks. Why couldn't "Kayla" have told me that over the phone (I had to call back because no one ever called me back) before I WASTED a trip. Get it together at the front desk.

Yelp
The RV Resort was clean, and we loved that it was only a few minutes to Schlitterban, tubbing, etc. The kids enjoyed the indoor pool and the trampoline. Our friend stayed in a cabin. Very clean and new, still smelled like cedar. This is an RV resort, not a campground so there were no fire rings or BBQ pits, but since we keep a BBQ pit with our camper this was not a problem. The only issue I had was the wait to check in. One other guest there and I counted at least 5 employees in the office, and no one asked if I needed any assistance for about 5 minutes. Other than that we will definitely be back.

Yelp
I have stayed in their cottages for a week at a time and had no issues. Today i tried to rent a cottage for one month, which was available. I was told i had to pay entire month with credit card. My cc limit is 750.00. I asked if I could give cc to hold until next day and bring cash to complete month of 1049.00. The agent taking reservation on 8/8/17 would not do it. I asked to speak to evening manager, who was not available at 5:30 pm, but would be there in a few minutes. I was unable to rent, but have rented an hotel room for a month with no hassle at all. I live close to Hill Country, and have always been impressed. I guess when they already make enough money, people that need their services at advertised charge just has to give their money to a chain hotel rather than support a locally owned business with people who were a part of what made them successful..God bless the companies that do not allow local residents to contribute!!

Yelp
We stayed at the Rio Grande cottage for three days on their pay for two nights and get the third night free special. It was perfect as we were able to come down the evening before and start our day at Schlitterbahn without having to make the drive first. We were comfortable and happy with the accommodations. The bedrooms were really small, but had both a closet and a built-in chest of drawers, and the beds were exceptionally comfortable. We didn't really cook other than making coffee, but utensils were available to use. The cottage was immaculate, as were the grounds. It seems to be a quiet, family-oriented site, so I felt comfortable letting the girls go to the pool and store alone. My only complaints were, the bathroom was very small and had no full-length mirror and the WIFI was only spotty at best. That said, we appreciated the extra amenities as we had a teen and a tween with us, who loved the pool and jumping area along with the ice cream at the office store. The location is good for the local attractions. Schlitterbahn is 10-15 minutes away and the Natural Bridge Caverns is about 20 to 30 minutes away. We didn't go to San Antonio or Austin, but they seem to be well within driving range, about 30 and 45 minutes respectively. I would recommend Hill Country to any family, who appreciates a 10 pm quiet policy and a safe, clean location near all the attractions. It would also be a good location for multiple families who want to stay in a property that is a bit more than a hotel. Beef up the WIFI and put a mirror on the door and you would get a five star from me.

Yelp
Very nice spot off the 35 that I would have never known was there is not invited by my uncle. Need to find a cottage next weekend.

Yelp
Stayed in our 5th wheel at the resort. The kids loved the play area and the pool was perfect to wear them out while mom n relaxed in the water. The new ownership is fantastic they have changed up so much about the place. They even had food available Saturday night while we listened to live music from our spot in the pool. Great time. Great weekend retreat that was only 30 miles from home.

Yelp
We stayed at Hill Country for close to 6 months. It started off pretty well, until the park issued us a "ticket" for parking where they told us to park our truck. They had our phone number and email address but chose to issue us a "ticket." There were countless times we were without water with no notification. When we asked the office to send out emails to people who were there long term, we were told that nobody in the office knew how to send out that type of email. We purchased an electrical surge protector. We plugged it in to the electrical service. At a cost of $400, we wanted to protect out property and put a padlock on the electrical box. We were called and told to remove the lock. We protested, to no avail. There are 3 laundry facilities in the park. On one particular day, one facility had air conditioning install and was closed. The other facility was being remodeled and the last facility had 5 washers & dryers. One washer and dryer were out of service. There was no notification from the office either. Most of the office staff were friendly enough but some of them were just not accommodating or pleasant. There are many activities for children and adults. If you don't have children accompanying you, you'll pay for those activities anyway. The prices are too high, the communication is non-existent and the staff is not pleasant. We'll never stay here again.

Yelp
We stayed for 2 nights and it worked very well for us. We were a group of 7 and we stayed in a 2bedroom with 2 additional pull-out sofas(plenty of Space). The kids loved the indoor pool and game room. I am hoping to stay again when tubing season begins. The only issue we had was we needed more plates/bowls, and we ended up picking up paper just so I didn't have to do dishes. All in all, we had a good time.
