Sunday River is one of the best mountains in the Northeast without question. First time visit, loved it. Spring skiing so not as many trails open as we'd have liked but the double blacks were manageable and there was plenty to experience. The igloo is incredible, the Mountain Room food delicious and the apres scene with live band was fun. Plan to return.

My 7 day stay was spectacular! I had a blast each day and all the staff were amazing! The young kids were an absolute breath of fresh air to see each day. (Brandon, Joseph, Emily, Phil and Alexis) Despite the unfriendly, rude and unsympathetic lady I booked over the phone with was a bit too much to deal with. She definitely needs a refresh on customer service when a guests is looking to spend an entire 7 day vacation at a destination resort! Jordan Spa located in The Jordan Hotel was the perfect ending to each of my 7 days. I decided to choose a different spa option each day to really really the experience of a true vacation and I enjoyed all SIX of my spa days and everyone in the spa was absolutely amazing! Meghan, Andi, Kristy, Birch and Lucas!). I can’t wait to come back for another ski and spa vacation! Cheers to Sunday River Resort for such a memorable ski trip for me!

Great staff, amenities and skiing experience for all levels. I am a novice skier and liked how many green and blue trails there were to pick from. Icy conditions the weekend we went but I felt comfortable on the trails as a novice compared to some other mountains in New England area. Highly recommend the waffles at the top of the chondola lift. Absolutely delicious! As a novice, I most enjoyed and felt comfortable on the green trails at the South Ridge area but also really enjoyed Moonstruck trail. Staying at a ski in and out condo is great, but be sure to check out the trails first because some are located on difficult trails or you can ski out with no problem but getting back could be a little challenging. Update: I went again a week with fresh powder and optimal conditions and it was amazing, still would recommend even when on icy side. Staff are all wonderful!

What a nice experience I had at Sunday River Ski Resort! I really enjoyed my friday afternoon there (12- close). At first I thought it was a bit expensive, but I was surprised by : - ski conditions were very good. 😊 - the views everywhere are just wow!!! - not much wait at the chairlifts. - there was a super nice and huge igloo bar at the bottom of jordan bowl peak, SO COOL! One of the main highlight of the day. ✨ - and what to say about those bubbled chairlift anti-wind 👌10000/10 thanks doppelmayr! Shout out! Last but not least, LOVED seeing those ski-doo snowmobiles 👌 #thankyou

A well worth it one of a kind adventure. Reservations are a must. We waited a bit in line for our Sno Cat ride to the igloo. Light snow and a festive crowd added to the evening. You have to go up a ladder to the passenger cabin. This is not mobility challenged friendly. We got to ride up front with the driver on the way there. Our driver was tremendous. He was friendly and answered my non stop questions. The igloo is amazing. Lights; music and a unique atmosphere. Guests are offered complimentary champagne or non alcoholic beverage along with delicious lobster salad and a whoopie pie. Additional beverages are available to purchase. There are several small rooms with tables to either sit or stand. You can stay for as long as you like before taking the Sno Cat for the short ride back. We waited just a few minutes for the return trip. There was a fire pit next to the pickup stop. Be sure to dress in warm layers as the igloo is not heated. We had a fantastic time!

Great place, looking forward to the renovations! Jay at the front desk is exceptionally kind and helpful, and all the other employees were kind and generous.

Google
Best maine mountain for snow making and high speed lift service. Massive in length, you can ski from the top right most peak Jordan, across all 8 peaks to white cap lodge. An amazing long beginner trail Kansas that brings you back to the base. (Sometimes a bit flat for snowboarders depending on conditions) Jordan 8 and Barker have great advanced terrain to lap and you can do a ton of runs even during the spring. White heat and vortex are amazing expert trails steep, groomed, and open most of the season. (Including April) I wish there was a steep groomed double black off Jordan 8 that led back to the lift. They blow snow on tin woodsman let it mogul up, turn to ice, and close it. Why not groom at least one of the 8 double blacks off Jordan. Otherwise it's a massive distance from rogue angel to cyclone closed for skiing. Sucks having to take Aurora or white heat (slow lifts) just to ski steep groomed terrain.

Well run hill with lots of lifts, Spread over 8 mountain faces. Decent cafeteria options and cafe and food trucks at certain chalets both at the base and summit. The bubble chairs with heated seats are such a luxury.

Yelp
I've skied Sunday River for more than 30 years. Spoiled by true ski-in/ski-out trailside accommodations, the best snowmaking, grooming, trail and lift system in New England. My most recent trip was to have my new K2 ski boots fitted. Three local people, Kristin, Tom, and Glenn worked on my custom insoles and fitting for almost 2 hours, but it was worth it. Afterwards, those K2s were so comfortable I could just leave them on buckled up all day! I wouldn't buy boots anywhere else but Sunday River Sports. I can stop by the South Ridge Lodge anytime for the life of the boot for a free adjustment. You just can't beat that!

Yelp
This was my first time at Sunday River. I looked online before I went and the website said for military discount you had to purchase tickets at the place. So when I arrived I explained to the gentleman that I have never been skiing before and wanted to know about taking lessons, renting gear, as well as applying a military discount. Since I have never been skiiing I assumed these were the main things to do. He told me he had nothing to do with the lessons and I would have to go talk to the school, and as far as gear I would go talk to the rental place. He then proceeded to sell me ski lift tickets for each day I would be there. Mind you, knowing I have never skied before, he still chose to sell me the higher priced tickets for "all access lifts." Something I had no idea was even a thing and didn't find this out until later that day. I then proceed to the ski rental place, which was right around the corner from "Guest Services." I picked up gear for a day and a half and then proceeded to the school where they give lessons. Come to find out, if you take a lesson the school provides you with gear and a beginner ski lift pass. I signed up for their next available class which was the following morning. Then, the school said I should talk to "guest services" to see if I could switch my lift pass for the next day since the school was already giving me one. I went to "guest services" to inquire about changing the lift passes that I was sold. The woman at guest services said she could refund me as a credit or switch it to a different day. That's when I found out that I in fact had been sold the "all access" lift passes which apparently is more expensive than if I had bought a beginner pass. When I asked her why the gentleman who sold me the lift tickets didn't explain there was a difference in the lift passes nor say anything about the school possibly providing a lift pass and gear she said it wasn't their job to explain everything. She also stated if she had to explain things like that to customers then the line would be out of the door. So, even though I walked into the first building at the ski resort and went up to the desk that said "Guest Services" that still meant that I needed to get that information somewhere else? For the amount of money this place makes off of everyone that walks in those doors, the last thing they should be doing is not providing customer service when it is needed. Needless to say I didn't need the "all access" lift pass after I took a first time beginner lesson, with the gear I rented and made it on the beginner ski lift 2 times. This has really left a bad impression on me and the friends I attended with. They do have an area to keep your shoes and anything you'd like to not take with you on the snow. It is not locked up so I would keep anything of value in there. Overall, the employees handling the rental gear were all very friendly and patient. The women at the school seemed confused when I showed up with my own gear. I took a first time adult lesson with the school. The lesson was with me and 3 others with an instructor learning the basics. Since I was able to catch on fairly quick I was told to continue practicing going down the small hill by myself. I was fine doing so but after about 45mins of me doing this by myself I started questioning why I was paying for a lesson. I checked in with the instructor and she was finally able to take me on the ski lift and down the mountain. And then of course the lesson was over. In hindsight, I should have taken a private lesson and hopefully would have gotten my moneys worth. This place is pretty kid friendly. They could use more equipment stands as there were quite a few people laying their gear anywhere they could find someplace to put it. I don't plan on going back, I'd rather take my money to Loon where everyone is friendly.

Yelp
Such an awesome weekend skiing at Sunday River thanks to Heidi James and Slopeside Condo Rentals on trails of Sunday River Ski Resort, Maine. Fresh powder and 39 trails to enjoy from our ski in/ski out condo at Fall Line. The unit was comfy, clean and super convenient. A great value for our family, too. Highly recommend. -- at Slopeside Condo Rentals on trails of Sunday River Ski Resort, Maine.

Yelp
Sunday River is my favorite ski resort. The mountain is expansive with varying terrain that challenges those looking to be challenged, but also easy terrain for those looking to just cruise or who are still learning. Recently, the mountain has been going through some updates. At Jordan, they have installed New England's fastest 8 person chair lift with heated seats and a shield, and they are looking to add a 6 person chair lift to Barker with similar seating in the 23-24 season. They are also looking to expand the mountain more with more lodging, chairlifts, and trails in the foreseeable future. All of this allows for Sunday River to continue being a great mountain. Each time I have gone to Sunday River, the trails are always well-groomed and there are limited lines. When lines do build up, it consistently goes by fast due to the organization of the staff at the chairlifts. Overall, Sunday River is a great resort to check out if you are a skier or snowboarder. There are a variety of restaurants on the strip of the resort to enjoy, and I look forward to its expansion!

Yelp
This review is for the golf course, Jordan Spa, and Grand Summit Hotel: My wife and I were here on vacation about a week ago. We booked a stay at Grand Summit which was amazing. I booked her a prenatal massage with the Jordan Spa and they treated her as if she was royalty. I can only imagine how busy the place is during ski season, but I was so surprised that it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. My wife was the only person at the spa and had the outdoor heated pool all to herself while I was out playing golf. I got paired up with a random that was really cool and we both played pretty fast. I played from the blue tees and shot my second career round of even par with 6 birdies, so it's very safe to say that I really loved everything about the course! Can't beat the on-course views either!

Yelp
We love going to Sunday as it's only an hour and half away from Portland. The mountain has a lot of skiing to offer to anyone looking to have fun! Also they have waffles in the middle of the trail when you're hungry

Yelp
Had a great time skiing, went to return my gear and was told i was late in returning my gear even though i requested the appropriate amount of time. guys at the ski shop really wanted me to pay another $90 on top of the $240 id already spent. i was very polite, did not raise my voice or disrespect the two angry guys working the ski return counter, however, Al, a older gentleman working the ski rack asked me where i was from, and when i replied he told me to do him a favor and never come back to Sunday River. I asked why he would say that, as i come spend money here every year with a group of buddies. Ski rental guys are conning people who don't resist paying the additional "late fee". just avoid even talking to them and drop your stuff off without saying a word to them just like everyone else-- as they're just looking to charge you again. Even tried making the argument that "i paid incorrectly" even though it's not my job to punch in the order into their flippin system.

Yelp
Over 5 months ago we requested a room close to the elevators and NOT in the south wing which is the furthest away from the restaurant, the lobby, pool and our car in handicap spot! I requested it because I have a DISABILITY! I need an ankle replacement and I can't walk far before it starts hurting to the extent that I can't walk! My husband skis, I don't. I just come along for the pool or hot tub. On four occasions I let them know what I needed. First when I made reservations in the comment field. Second when I called to ask a question about the flooding they had and will they be open. A third time I called and asked if my food card was still good to use. The whole time reconfirming my request because of my disability! The one time I called the woman on the other end reconfirmed that the south wing was not good for me. Today after waiting 5 hours and waited on line twice to see what was taking so long and mentioning again about my disability, they finally at 5:30 PM gave us a room in the south wing! When I spoke to the manager she said "that's all we have and beside u are near an elevator". And she kept saying that to me! Yes, we are near an elevator but the walk to this elevator for me like walking a mile in pain!! I know how much I can walk before I can't. We also couldn't have been any further from the handicap parking where our car is!! "I can give you a wheel chair to use" she said. What good is a wheel chair when I don't even know how to use it or have someone push me! I would be banging the walls with it besides being exhausted trying to get myself to the other end of the resort! She pretty much gave me no choice because where were we going at this point. Now I have to stay longer in my room in between walking back and forth and resting my foot for the next journey! How insensitive this place is for people with disabilities!!! I am totally disgusted with this place!

Yelp
Rented a house for the weekend at the base of the mountain - tried navigating the ridiculous website so we could go up the mountain on a Chondola, Gundola, establish exactly where it is, where I can get easy schedule information.... Show up ONLY to be told to go online to buy tickets, takes you to a site forcing you to join a site to buy tickets.... The woman at the counter was IRRITATED that she had to assist us. GUYS!! You can't possibly be this out of touch when people want to spend $ at your establishment and make it this painful.... It's the slow season, to boot. It's like you're stuck in 2003 or something. Get it together!

Yelp
Sunday River is probably my favorite place to snowboard at. I first went to The River when I was a teen and instantly felt like it was both accessible - I don't just mean physically - and approachable... two things I don't feel have ever changed about this spot. It's also a literal snow playground; there's so much space and terrain, that it's easy to stay entertained and active - regardless of skill level - all day long. And the views? Absolutely stunning. There's this one point right before heading down the Two Mile Trail that just overlooks everything - you can't help but just feel total awe (even if winter is not your favorite season). There have been times when I've just stood there taking it all in. And that's okay, because there's no rush here to prove your worthiness as a skiier or rider. There's a variety of lift tickets and "stay and play" specials to choose from, including deals for both Maine and NH residents (i.e. special rates for non-holiday midweek days and select Sundays). Be sure to check their website! And stay awhile after you've hit the slopes: loads of really good dining options (and nightlife) nearby as well!

Yelp
Really unimpressed with the First Experience ski lesson at Sunday River with Mary C. The lesson, which was nearly $200, was supposed to be for 2 hours. Nevertheless, at 1.5 hours in, Mary C decides to end the lesson early to take 1 out of the 4 people taking the lesson on the ski lift. On what planet does that make sense? Really disappointed. Don't waste your money.

Yelp
Sunday River is too 3 mountains in the east. They have terrain for everyone and their grooming is top tier. Free bag check!!! And you can get a Bloody Mary at the peak lodge for 15 bucks which is unheard of at Killington.

Yelp
I'll tell you this place use to be the best mountain in New England at least that's how i felt about it. I paid a visit yesterday for the first time in 2021 ana have to be honest, the mountain was shit mostly. Lotta ice, lotta closed trails and a lotta lines. They were sold out so the one good thing is that anyone who has an Ikon pass can still get in and if they have a friend or family pass they can attend too with no reservation, this seems fair. Said. No. One. Ever... Prices are a bit steep in my opinion, $119 for a saturday in mid march let me know when the off season starts management i'm interested. Bathrooms were nothing short of disgusting, i mean it, they were filthy and i hope the board of health takes note of it. went to the bar / restaurant located at white cap lodge and have to say the bartenders couldn't have been more rude than they were. I asked where we order a drink or sit down and it was like i was bothering them and dumb for not knowing. Sorry barkeeps but with covid i feel like it's nice to check and make sure and where i was about to sit and finally did looked like might be a serving station. So i was being considerate, next time i won't ask and i'll just park my ass anywhere i want. Also the two apps which took forever were cold, not warm, they were cold. Poutine and Chicken Wings. Not sure who's to blame but these are the facts. I still tipped 20% because i know they appeared to be working hard but it doesn't excuse them from being rude. Also if you hate your job quit, that's all. All in all i think i'm good with Sunday River, it's 2 hours from my vacation home and Killington is 2 hours 10 minutes, i'll be driving the extra 10. One more thing, last year my son lost a Ski on a powder day on a trail, looked for an hour and couldn't find it. He reported it, and i followed up with a phone call and never got a return phone call after leaving 2 messages. I'm in awe of this, this wasn't a small item and at the minimum it showed up in the spring, you would think maybe just maybe they would've called and said hey it's toast and no good, but nothing. This always bothered me, as we all know this sport isn't cheap and i feel like a follow up of hey we never found it or anything would've been nice. Not sure why i am giving them 2 stars they clearly don't deserve it but they were at least open its March 12th

Yelp
I left California and moved to New Hampshire recently, and purchased a season pass to Sunday River after a particularly great day of spring riding. I'm a past pass holder at resorts like Mammoth, Mt Hood, Northstar and Snowbird and found the variety of terrain to be suitable for some fun days on the snow (+ 1 Star). In an average season, I might ride 30-50 days and leverage the longer daylight hours of spring to bring my numbers up. This year COVID happened and Sunday River shut down. I maybe rode 4 days this season, anticipating to spend a long April birthday holiday at the mountain to make my pass "worth it". It's insulting that the corporate wigs can't come up with some type of communication for existing pass holders. I've received email after email asking for MORE of my money so I might "lock in" best prices for next season, with no clear picture of how Sunday River/Boyne Resorts wants to approach those pass holders who got the short end of the stick this season. Docking 4 stars on account of the corporate team being unable to issue ANY type of statement about measures being taken. If I'm going to waste $1200 (less the ~$400 in single day ticket costs), at least have the decency to tell me rather than leave me grasping to bits of hope delivered over social media.

Yelp
Extremely overpriced and really poor conditions. Not worth the money. So many other smaller and less expensive ski resorts around. Expensive food. Definitely bring your own. And the lodging is from the 1980's. Not the best conditions overall and staff are snobby and arrogant.

Yelp
Spent three days and had a great time. Travelled up from NJ so I decided to rent my skis. Did everything online. Take note, don't stand in the rental line - go to the online desk. There was no one there but after standing in line, he said he was around so we should have gone there -umm,ok? Online ticket pickup was easier. Saturday skiing is always going to be busy but lines moved fairly quickly. The mountain is big and the crowd easily disbursed. Food is standard cafeteria fair, better option is Sliders at the Jordan Hotel (see my separate review). We stayed through Monday and we got 3 inches of snow, unfortunately the Sunday night grooming apparently didn't happen. Trails were heavily ridden on Sunday and disappointing on Monday. Snow was all pushed around and lots of ice in between. Good vibe, helpful staff!

Yelp
What can I really say the mountain is great. The people are nice. This place is everything you'd want when you snowboard or ski. I will likely change my review much higher if I visit again. However I went this past Saturday and I'm A new learner of snowboarding. I had just bought a new snowboard and my strappings were too small for my boots. So I bit the bullet and bought new strapping's. Which were very expensive. The crew members of the store were nice enough to put them on my board and adjust them. They asked me how I stand normally and decided that I would be a normal position rider. The entire day I did nothing but fall down. I was very frustrated. And I thought it was my board alone. I was so frustrated and I couldn't understand why I was snow boarding terribly. My knees will be sore for a week. Before I left I returned boots I had to rent because my boots were junk and uncomfortable for me to wear. The person who gave me the boots was very informative. But when I returned them, I had explained that I was doing terrible. All day. This different guy looked at my board, and had told me that I was riding goofy all day rather than regular. This information relieved me a little. That maybe I would have hope for the future. I'm pretty sure my wife hated me all day long. She hated my attitude. Because I was miserable. The guy who re adjusted my board to regular standing rather than goofy, was confident that I was doing so poorly because I was boarding backwards all day long (makes sense) Needless to say I'm pretty bummed out. It's very expensive to go snowboarding. Especially at Sunday River. And when someone is in the hope of great customer service. You should expect to get what you're promised. I understand that I'm not the most experienced boarder. But last year, I had a blast using rental boards at different locations. I was comfortable riding. But now I'm skeptical to go again anytime soon. I will give snowboarding a chance again, now that I understand I was riding goofy all day long. I'm just a little disappointed and frustrated. I don't understand how you tell someone you're going to set them up regular, but instead set them up goofy. I mean I don't know the difference and expected that they should have. Because I could've been very much hurt. Perhaps if my board was to begin with set up normal, I would have had a better time.

Yelp
Cheryl from guest services was extremely rude. For no reason at all She was very short with us.

Yelp
Beautiful mountain..Couldn't be happier to get back here after many years. I remembered real quick how gigantic it is here, and there was a ton of area ( not able to cover in one day) we never saw..Will be booking slopeside later in season.

Yelp
Living relatively close by Sunday River, it has very hit or miss for me. I have to say that today customer service was outstanding. I want to give a shout out to Cheryl, who made my day at the ticket booth at Southridge. Very stress full situation was handled with great grace and ended up having a great day of skiing. Thank you Cheryl at Southridge ticket office!

Yelp
Fun atmosphere and great food and drinks. Oysters were delicious. So was the scallop crudo. Mister Roboto cocktail is my new favorite.

Yelp
Favorite mountain I have ever been to, very wholesome and authentic. Restaurant is great and atmosphere is amazing. I stayed at the Jordan and had no complaints, the staff is friendly and they are eager to help and accommodate with anything. There are hot tubs and an outdoor pool, great for kids and adults after a long day skiing. The slopes are great for everyone, plenty of green trails for beginners, and some really fun blacks as well. Will definitely be returning for another stay! And if you have a chance, I highly recommend first tracks, one of the best experiences!

Yelp
My brother and I wanted to get some early season skiing in and Sunday River was the furthest north we could go and figured it would be a good bet. It has snowed quite a bit the week before we got there 11/28/18 so they were opening new terrain and fresh tracks were had in the trees and on ungroomed trails. During the week it was empty, on the weekend it got rather crowded, but the lines moved. The mountain is truly large and expansive, think Killington size. It still has charm that is fast vanishing as resorts become increasingly corporate, but this place stands alone. Mostly a skiers mountain with few snowboarders and great snow and expansive terrain make Sunday River a must for any Northeast ski bum.

Yelp
A few words come to mind when I think of this location: Fun, phenomenal staff, and great classes! I had never gone skiing before so my boyfriend bought me a lesson. Ted was my teacher and he was really terrific with teaching us the basic steps. I had a little trouble so another instructGlenn jumped in to help me. I didn't learn as fast as others and I was embarrassed. Glenn kept me optimistic and made sure I didn't give up. I loved the sports school so much I ended up upgrading for another class the next day. My goal was to get on a lift and ski down the mountain. I met Matt by far the best on the mountain- this guy was so informative and made sure to get me on that lift! I fell a few times- but the support and encouragement this whole staff gives is unreal! If this is your first time skiing don't be discouraged- you will end up enjoying everything! Oh and if you have little ones- there is a friendly appearance of Betty and Eddie the Yetis- can't forget that! Thanks Sunday River!!

Yelp
Rented some meeting rooms at Grant Hotel at Sunday River. Incredibly overpriced--real price gouging. Also hidden fees for use of equipment NOT shown in prices quoted in the information provided by hotel. Watch out and avoid if possible!

Yelp
Review for Grand Summit Lodge. Excellent guest services - big thank you to SK at the front desk who helped me straighten out an issue with my lift ticket and also the manager/servers in Camp Restaurant who were wonderful handling my 11 year-old niece's food allergies!

Yelp
Mismanaged to the max! One person working at the ticket counter! Literally hundreds of people in line-- this is bs. It's the weekend, it's not your first rodeo-- bring more people in. Will never come back here again. I suggest you skip and go elsewhere especially if you have kids.

Yelp
Sunday River may not be the black diamond of skiing, but it is a perfect stop for anyone looking for great customer service. After skiing for a few years I've never been quite sure what boot I fit in best. I was told that although a small portion of skiers needed two boots in different sizes, my feet were happiest with a 12 (30). Through a brief encounter with exceptional people I had one of the best customer services experiences ever. Santana was kind, patient, and sincere. She switched boots out with co-workers on the fly. Bobby adjusted my skies. Tim was a familiar face. I had come with a new skier a few days earlier and Tim made the rental experience a comfortable, relaxed process. For a new skier this is crucial! These individuals represent the best of us. In any line of work, few find the great people who connect with their clients and can relate on a human level. Thank you Tim, Santana, and Bobby for a great day of skiing! Yelp
I don't think this resort has put in as much effort into their summer business as they could. They don't have much going on during the week. However, they have excellent weekend activities. My husband and I hiked three mile trail, which was much more difficult than we were told by staff. The views were delightful though. We took the zipline tours, which were AMAZING. The staff made you feel comfortable and safe. My husband and I are both scared of heights, but I would recommend the zipline tours to anyone. Sunday River's restaurants are delicious. We ate at the Jordan, which had an affordable tasting menu one night. The staff moved quite slow, and our dinner took three hours. However, the food was well worth the wait. We enjoyed a chilled tomato soup, bread salad, blueberry and basil sorbet, an onion torte, and a chocolate cupcake to die for. The menu at the South Lodge was a bit overpriced, but their food was yummy and the staff was friendly. Their bartenders, Lakin and Meaggan (sp?) were fantastic. They made excellent recommendations for food as well as drinks. The front desk staff could have been more friendly, but more important aware of their activities and surroundings. Whenever my husband and I asked questions, they acted as if they didn't live in the area and couldn't make any positive recommendations for food or entertainment in the area.

Yelp
How incredibly disappointing that I could not get help getting a gift card for someone for Christmas after calling for a week, leaving messages and following up with an e-mail - customer service is certainly not what it used to be - very disappointing

Yelp
I can honestly say this was one of the most disappointing experiences I have had in a long time. I got absolutely ripped off paying 145 dollars just to ski about 8 open trails that was all ice, not to mention about half the lifts were closed. Definitely would not recommend.

Yelp
Sunday River by far is the best snowboard destination of my life! My boyfriend brought us here for my birthday and honestly it's beyond all of my expectations! The staff are amazing, the conditions are solid and well it's just wonderful in all regards. I've never snowboard for 5 hours straight in my life.I did so for 3 straight days. Stop at Barker Peak Lodge for crazy good grilled cheese. The Peak Lodge has the best Bloody Mary's. Varied dining experiences abound. The music at the lifts also varies but is fun and lively. End of March, mid week, no lift lines at all. Cannot wait to return!

Yelp
Fast service. Sweet potato corn chowder was fab. Many southwest inspired foods. Full bar- congenial atmosphere. Love the view of the mountain. Great place to view fireworks from. Have not seen a live band here but they have events a couple nights a week.

Yelp
I came here for New Years 2016. It has thus far been a terrible winter on the East coast, and having never heard of Sunday River before, I was not sure what to expect. Sunday River managed to have a little less than a third of the mountain open by the time we finished skiing on our third day--helped by 9 inches of fresh pow the day before we arrived. This was no small feat this winter, and I was impressed. The Resort is huge and covers several peaks. Making it from mountain to mountain could be accomplished by skiing from place to place for the most part. They were able to make snow all trip, which was good for the skiing, but bad for blowing in our faces on the lifts and runs. I did not find the terrain to be particularly advanced, but the runs that were open were super fun, and a large part of the mountain was not open, so I cannot judge on that account. I also noted far fewer snowboarders here than at other mountains, which may be more related to the fact that they didn't have any parks during my trip. I will definitely be making the trip back to Sunday River at some point when the whole mountain is open and I can really experience everything it has to offer.

Yelp
Had a great time with Brian, Sam and Joe! I'm sure people's experiences vary depending on weather, and I'm a fall kind of girl, so for me it was a perfect day to go. The first is a nice short, slow one to get you used to it. There are 6 in the woods and you get to do the twin zip at the end. Definitely a good time.

Yelp
I have been to Sunday River for a few years with a ski club that I belong to. We have been coming in January for years. Last year, I bought a 5 day ticket from the mountain and a few months later had forgotten that I had bought a ticket and mistakenly bought another 5 day ticket from my club. Sunday River gave me a credit to use my tickets within a year. This year my club is going back to ski Sunday River in March. I called Sunday River to ask them to extend the credit until March. I was told that there is nothing that they can do. I have to lose out on the cost of a 5 day ticket. I wan't even offered any other kind of compensation.

Yelp
I came in January in 2016 with a large group. The lower slopes were fine. Smooth and thick layers of snow. However, it was really icy and uneven in the upper slopes. It's unfortunate, since there are a lot of slopes up there that go pretty high. They have a number of lifts going (it's a little confusing figuring out where you're going and how to get down -- there were a couple of runs that lead you to the same location that force you to go back up the mountain, instead of having a trail that leads down). If the conditions were well-maintained it probably would have resulted in some really great runs. It's hard to enjoy yourself when you're scraping and sliding over half an inch of loose powder over a hardened base of lumpy ice. They need to blow more fake snow and smooth over the trails.

Yelp
It's a great mountain. Conditions were fantastic yesterday. I was especially pleased with all the staff I encountered. The staff in the tuning shop were really knowledgeable and professional. The woman with the long blonde hair was awesome. Guest services, all where pleasant. Even the lifties, provided service with a smile while being out there at single digit temps. Will definitely be back often.

Yelp
This is in regard to Sunday River's customer service and ticket reservation lines. No one ever answers the telephone at the resort. We had an error on our lift tickets. We called to correct it and no one is available to speak to. We have left multiple messages and no one returns our calls. This is terrible customer service.

Yelp
Had a terrible experience with guest services after accidentally purchasing 1 2-day ticket rather than 2 1-day tickets. They refused to convert ticket so that I could ski with my brother, made me pay a surcharge. To top it all off this was the day after Christmas, talk about holiday spirit. Skiing wasn't amazing, don't see why I should come back when there are plenty of good resorts in the area with better customer support.

Yelp
Both Sunday River and Sugarloaf are owned by Bonye Resorts. They both offer a $49 lift ticket to Maine residents on Wednesdays. Apparently at Sunday River you have to buy those tickets 24 hours in advance online. Sugarloaf has no such requirements. I wish I had known that before I drove an hour past my favorite mountain (Sugarloaf) just to pay $40 more than advertised because I didn't buy the ticket online. I have emailed both Sunday River and Boyne Resorts about my experience and have yet to even get a "Thanks for your comments" reply. I will NEVER go back to Sunday River again, shame on you, I feel robbed. If I could give less than 1 star I would.

Yelp
I love the fact that they have many peaks. You will need at least half a day to explore every single peaks. I think this mountain will be good for tree runs when it's a fullly open season. It is deftly a worth a trip if you are stopping at Maine. Enjoy the snow~

Yelp
While it doesn't match the apres options of some of the other top northeast ski areas, Sunday River's nevertheless a winner from a pure skiing standpoint with 8 peaks, a good variety of terrain, excellent snowmaking, good grooming and adequate base lodge options. My recent visit was my second, and I'll be back again next year for what has become a resort worthy of an annual pilgrimmage.

Yelp
Bought my college student son a season's pass for Christmas, but due to many reasons, including Covid issues, he had to go back to NYC sooner than anticipated and was never able to activate the pass. Certainly not Sunday River's fault, but they actually had a program available for pass holders where they could transfer use to next season due to these types of circumstances. I didn't find out about this until after their deadline of 1/15, and was never notified about it. Called customer service and they said "too late." Asked to speak to a Supervisor, just because didn't think it was right that we were not notified of this option, but they would not transfer my call, was told to email. No response as expected. And of course they won't reply to my voicemails either. Very disappointing. Have now contacted Maine's Office of Consumer Protection. We shall see. UPDATE: Consumer Protection got back to us and offered to assist, but in the meantime, thankfully, Sunday River came through and granted us a voucher for next season.

Yelp
Today I had a ski lesson at perfect turn at Sunday River. Don did an awesome job teaching teaching me. I had gone skiing the day before and had a fear attack and practically walked down the mountain. He realized that all I really needed was to understand that with the skills he taught me I could actually ski and enjoy it. I an not afraid any more. Thank you!

Yelp
Resort: 4.5/5 -$10 for 1 day helmet rental. +$5 for an additional day -So many slopes. If you don't want to be with alot of people, move out towards Jordan's peak. -You can get a tune up and wax from the shop for $35. -Night skiing is only $4 from 4-8pm. Service: 5/5 -The patrol were enthusiastic and willing to help -Most of the employees were friendly -Guest services is only open from 8-4p -There is a free shuttle service that takes you to your parking lot. Slopes: 5/5 -At least 5 peaks with over 100 slopes. -Jordan's Peak was great because it took about 40 minutes to get down to the South Ridge Lodge. -I enjoyed their Gondola lift -Most people will congregate around North Ridge Peak The only downside is the 7 hour drive from NYC to Maine. Other than that this place is awesome.

Yelp
The rivalry between Sunday River and Sugarloaf reminds me of the rivalry between Aspen and Vail. Just on a smaller scale. It's east coast style. It's Maine style. Call it what you like, both are very good mountains and I have a favorite. My favorite is Sunday River and it's not just because it is a shorter drive for me. Sugarloaf can brag about its above-the-treeline skiing and its longer runs, but it lacks the quality and diversity that Sunday River offers. I'm always a sucker for variety. Plus, Sugarloaf usually seems to be colder and more windy than Sunday River. I'm not sure why that is but I think it's got something to do with the surrounding mountains and how the mountains are orientated. Sunday River isn't one big mountain. Instead it's several smaller mountains packed next to one another along a ridge. The chairlifts also follow the same ridge like pattern. The mix of trials is a nice mix with many of the greens, blues and black diamond trails intertwined together like spaghetti. So unlike some mountains all the greens aren't on one side of the mountain and all the black diamonds aren't on the other side. White Heat isn't too bad to tackle alone but there's additional pressure from the "critics" sitting and watching from the overhead chairlift. Speaking of chairlifts Sunday River's lift lines aren't too bad. The town of Bethal is a very nice town. It's not too over-developed and it's not too under-developed. Because of its proximity to the New Hampshire border, it seems to look more like a typical New Hampshire town than a typical Maine town. If that means anything at all.
