This is home! After ten weeks of travelling, we got the chance to experience true hospitality at it's best! The check-in was quick, the room was very clean, spacious enough, airy and had lots of lamps to choose from. There are two big public areas for breakfast and to relax/meet other travellers with sofas and desks. Additionally, we liked the rooftop terrace with lots of plants very much (byo from nearby stalls possible). Our hotel boy always anticipated what we wanted/needed before we even asked for it. The laundry service was good. If you need to recover from a stressful journey, this is the place to go! The guest house is easy to reach from Howrah railway station via metro. In the surrounding area are places of interest like the Indian Museum and Mother Theresa House.

Hotel is good . Building is historical almost 200 years old. Almost nice and clean. But have a issue with their stuff. I paid 2400 rs for air condition room. During time of our city tour one of their stuff rent us a car . Later we got to know that he almost charged 1000 extra for that.

Still one of the best value hotels in the Park Street area. Rooms are clean and the staff are always helpful. I love the character of this old building, and I've been coming back here again and again for over fifteen years. Almost like my second home when I'm visiting the City of Joy.

It is a 200 year old building even lift is 100 year old its feel like home, staff is very supportive in reasonable price you will get all the facilities. Rooftop garden is also good. They have provided me food for my kids and laundry service. They are always present for helping me. Clean rooms small roof and well behaved staf in reasonable price is really amazing

Beautiful old building, amazing location, very kind and flexible staff; all very budget friendly - and the rooms themselves are exactly what you need, nothing more nothing less. It was our first night in Kolkata and it was a very warm welcome; from the always smiling elevator man to anyone we met from the staff. Exceptional service was provided by Swarup, he helped us with any question we had during our stay and even after; we appreciated this so much!

Rooms were very good. We went there during rainy season and at the entrance of the hotel there is water due to rain. And the water level is till knee. We entered the hotel @3pm with water till knee and then again when we returned at the hotel in 10pm water was still there and rain stopped @2pm.

Staying at the Sunflower Guesthouse is like stepping into a time capsule, where history seeps through the walls, and even the elevator feels like a piece of living art. Tucked away near the hustle and bustle of Park Street, it offers a peaceful retreat while keeping you close to Kolkata’s vibrant energy. Built during the British Raj, this guesthouse carries the charm of an era where elegance met practicality—though today, it leans more toward “quirky nostalgia” than luxury. The rooms? Small but clean enough to make you feel like you’re staying in a well-loved antique. Space might be tight, but who needs square footage when the atmosphere is this rich? The real showstopper is the vintage elevator, a creaky, clunky marvel that feels like it belongs in a museum. Riding it is an adventure in itself—don’t rush it, savor it. And the staff? Absolutely wonderful—warm, friendly, and always ready to help with a smile. They add that extra layer of comfort that makes your stay feel less like a hotel and more like visiting a gracious old home. Yes, it’s a tiny bit pricier than your average guesthouse, but you’re not just paying for a bed. You’re paying for history, charm, and the joy of being treated like family. Totally worth every rupee.
