Awesome experience. We did the ‘Best of Fitzroy Island’ package which included the return ferry from Cairns to Fitzroy Island. A glass bottom boat tour along with snorkeling (including equipment hire) and a very substantial lunch box. The ferry is extremely comfortable and has the option of sitting inside and outside. We traveled inside where it was very cool and comfy. The glass bottom boat tour was fantastic and Hannah our skipper on that trip was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. After the glass bottom tour we headed up to Foxy’s to grab our included lunch boxes which were full of delicious food including a chicken and salad baguette as well as a muffin and other fresh fruit and salads. After lunch we were free to snorkel to our hearts content. I suggest heading left along the beach toward ‘White Rock’ where the beach is a bit more sandy and you can find a nice shady spot. The snorkeling was awesome and there was an abundance of sea life with countless species of fish snd corals not to far off the beach. We were very lucky to come across some sea turtles whilst snorkeling and to got to spend a good amount of time with them whilst they went about their day 😊 All in all a wonderful day out!! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️

What a day, what a trip, 10 out of 10, one of the best days my family and I have ever had on the Great Barrier Reef. From the moment we got on the staff set the tone for the day, they were happy to answer any questions we had, no matter how dumb with a smile (like, will we see fish and sharks, and are there any crocs on the reef ). The Reef looked amazing, and yes, lots of fish of all colours. The staff were very helpful with getting us into the right equipment before we hit the water. A big shout-out to the staff on the glass-bottom boat trip, and how well they engaged with the kids, answering all their questions. On our last snorkel, we had a turtle follow us around for about 10 minutes, which just made our day. The slide was a blast, and the food was great. Sunlover, you rock, and I will definitely be back and bringing all my friends

It was a great decision to choose Sunlover Cruise, the most famous Great Barrier Reef tour company. I visited with three friends. The Sunlover staff kindly guided us and watched over us, so we were able to successfully complete the snorkeling guide tour and free snorkeling. Moore Reef, with its many fish and coral reefs, was truly beautiful. Lunch was served buffet-style, and the focaccia bread and shrimp were especially delicious. Even if you are not a good swimmer, you can swim far out to sea with the flippers and life jackets. The facilities were clean and well-maintained, so I was satisfied. Be sure to ride the water slide too!!😆

We had a fantastic day with the Sunlover crew on Fitzroy island. We opted for all 3 inclusions, snorkeling, glass bottom boat tour & lunch. It was great to just arrive at the island and have lunch there for us. They even catered for my wife who is Coeliac. The glass bottom boat tour was great. Georgia & Carmen were so helpful and made it the best experience. Snorkeling was amazing too. We got to see 3 turtles and SO many fish. Was a great experience for our family.

Moore Reef was absolutely stunning! We booked a guide snorkeling tour on the boat and Alex took such great care and is super knowledgeable! 100% recommend. The glass bottom boat & underwater observatory are ways non swimmers can see the reef.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 – An unforgettable experience with Sunlover Cruise! We had an absolutely excellent time with Sunlover Cruise. The captain did a fantastic job navigating through the rough sea patches, keeping everyone safe and comfortable. A huge shout-out to Ben, who showed incredible patience and gave a very nervous me the confidence to scuba dive. He held my hand (literally and figuratively!) throughout the experience and made exploring the reef feel magical. Irish, the pro diver training Ben, was also outstanding—always keeping a close watch on us and pointing out the hidden wonders of the reef. Another big thank-you to Sandie, who went above and beyond to teach me how to snorkel. She stayed right beside me until I felt confident in the water, and I can’t express how much that meant. And to the Asian lifeguard—an incredibly fast swimmer—thank you for appearing in seconds the moment I raised my hand. Truly impressive professionalism. Overall, every single crew member on the vessel and the pontoon played an important role, and they all did their jobs with such courtesy, politeness, and skill. The buffet spread was delicious, especially the jumbo prawns—so yum! Thank you so much, team. You put on a great show—truly value for money and an experience to remember and share!

Google
Great day out at Moore Reef and Fitzroy Island. Boat that took us to the reef was comfortable and spacious. Staff very friendly. Pantoon was great, with glass bottom boat and semi submarine tours available as part of the deal plus optional paid for extra excursions. The reef was amazing , plenty of fish . Unfortunately we didn't come across any turtles but just unlucky. We even saw a small reef shark . After couple of hours snorkelling we went to Fitzroy Island for lunch and some chilling time . Overall highly recommend

Yelp
I came to experience this outfitter because I was with a group from United States who hired the Globus tour company to customize a tour for a group of 80 square dancers from United States who had just gotten off 13 day New Zealand and Australia Princess Cruise. This was one of the all-day events that Globus put on our 6-day tour of Australia. It was raining torrential rains on this day, sleets of hard-hitting rain on the way out to the Great Barrier Reef, and the sea was so rough, people threw up in the provided barf bags. But I paid $3.50 for the seasick prevention pills, took the 2 free ginger tablets, AND took a pill provided by my surgeon for after surgery vomiting from the anesthesia (which I did not need). I didn't feel sick at all, but it was the pitchiest rolling upheaval boat ride I ever experienced. The company owns and built the platoon which was almost as small as the ship itself. The platoon does not move, it is anchored to the sea floor with concrete, said the employee. The only included activity that our tour company paid for us, and maybe it is already included in the fee, is the sorta submarine and the glass bottom boat. I did not want to scuba or snorkel, I don't like salt water activities. Besides the people who did it and came out of the water, said they saw lotsa fish, but not a very colorful variety, just small fish, and "it was greatly over-rated". So I didn't feel I missed anything that I couldn't see in the glass bottom boat. The lunch was mediocre and the duration was limited to 1.5 hours from noon to 1:30. I heard our tour guide said it was the same lunch menu and items they've been serving for years and years, you think they could change it a bit. No drinks were included, you have to buy your soda or whatever from the bar. I am rating my review a 3 start mainly because the submarine was horrid! They didn't know that the AC in there was not working. Then they close the doors on about 25 people in 95 degrees. People came out with their hair all wet from sweat and looking all wimped out, telling their friends that they suffocated in there, it was so hot, no air. I don't know why they didn't say anything about the suffocation. I almost didn't go in there. When I did, they closed the hatches on us, I thought I was gonna die! Poor people were wiping their faces with their T-shirts. I was almost going to climb the stairs and open the the doors, which were horizontal, not vertical as most doors. Scary, I thought I was dying. The actual ride was only about 12 minutes. When I came out I asked the staff member if there was AC in there. He said Yes of course there is AC. I told him to go into the ship and experience how hot it was, and the AC wasn't working and people could die in there. Well, he didn't know. He later said they were working on the problem, and even later, it wasn't resolvable in good time, so they were going to leave both doors open for cross circulation. I told him about 4 pm anyhow, cos that is when I found out from others in my group, that it was soooooo hot and suffocating in there ! You don't see anything in the submarine either, it is just like being in the clouds, with very occassional glimpses or corral reef, like when the clouds part for the moment. Lower than 1 star review for this submarine thing. The glass bottom boat ride is only about 20 minutes, but it is in open air, and you can see much more !!!! The four hours on the platoon was kinda boring for me. But it didn't rain when we were on the platoon, which has an awning. But as soon as we got on the boat back, it rained so hard! But the ride back was not as rough. We did not stop at Fitzroy Island at all.

Yelp
Most horrible experience at the check-in. For no good reason, we had to spend an hour trying to prove to them we made the purchase despite showing them an government issued ID matching the name on the booking. They demanded we show them the credit card used for the booking for verification purposes, which we didn't bring to a boat where we expect to leave our belongings unattended while snorkeling. My 3 problems with how they handle the credit card verification: 1. It is nowhere mentioned on the email confirmation. The check-in lady keeps insisting it's on the website but refuses to show where on the website this credit card verification at check-in policy is stated. 2. Everyone doing the check-in is asked to show credit card used for purchase. But during the hour we spent discussing this with them, almost everyone doing the check-in was surprised by the requirement and showed them something on their phone instead of a physical card and were allowed to check in. We also showed them a credit card statement with the company name "Sunlover cruise" and the charged amount, but inexplicably, while all others showing a phone app was allowed to check in, we weren't. Our app is in another language because the issuing bank is from our home country. They insisted on an English app, a physical card or wouldn't let us check in. 3. The check in staff took a photocopy of my photo ID and asked us repeatedly to send them photos of our credit card. This is a serious breach of consumer data privacy laws and under their stated website privacy statement, they explicitly do not collect this information. I am seriously concerned that my photo ID and credit card information are now stored on their email servers accessible to all their employees. It's hard to overemphasize how serious of a consumer data protection breach this is. They did not do this with all the other customers showing things on their phone for credit card verification except for us. All that to say, the cruise itself is perfectly adequate. Lovely crew. Beautiful reef (see photo). But we have done other snorkeling cruises in both Cairns and Port Douglas. The offerings are largely similar. Save yourself the drama and the possibility of having to send screenshot of your credit card information to a reservation email address accessible to all their employees, choose another cruise with less unpredictable check-in procedure and just as beautiful reef.

Yelp
Great day out for the whole family Friendly, entertaining and helpful staff The only negative is the lunch provided if you don't get in quickly its dregs, run out. So when it opens up suggest go straight away then go to the snorkelling we did it back to front and was very disappointed.

Yelp
Amazing Day!! The reason I went to Australia was to go to the Great Barrier Reef. Australia is an amazing continent, but I had been there twice before. This time I was determined to finally get to the reef. Sunlover Reef Cruises made our day at the reef amazing. June is the low season on the reef since it is the winter in Australia, but this was definitely the best time to go! Our high speed catamaran was only half full which made for a nice day! 25 people in my group headed out for a day trip. We were picked up at the hotel and delivered to the marina. You take a 90 minute ride out to Moore Reef where you dock with a large covered pontoon with changing rooms and picnic tables. It was about $180 per adult which included a LOT. Snacks and lunch were included as well as snorkeling and equipment, glass bottom boat rides, semi submersible rides, marine biologist talks, views of fish feeding, and even a touch tank. There were a few things you could pay extra for such as Scuba diving, Sea Walking (helmet with constant air flow where you walk on a path underwater), guided snorkeling, and helicopter tours. The staff on the boat was fantastic! There was something for everyone, even those people who didn't want to get wet. We did end up purchasing some of the professional photos taken of us while we were sea walking. The photos were fantastic but extremely expensive. We paid $100 for 10 photos on a flash drive, but they were really awesome photos :) I would happily go on a sunlover day cruise again!

Yelp
TLDR;Really excellent cruise company. We did both Great Adventure (Green Island) and Sun Lover, and what a difference! Skip Green Island and go for SunLover! SunLover is a longer ferry ride (~2h) out to their pontoon on the outer reef (not far from the "marine world" pontoon), and they stop at Fitzroy Island each direction. But, the staff uses the ride time very effectively, getting everyone organized for the snorkeling and diving activities from the pontoon. They do the intro dive training on the ship, which saves time once you have arrived. When you arrive, the ship docks with the pontoon and you're free to use both spaces to spread out and enjoy the reef for 4 hours. Lunch is served on the boat, and it's delicious. The intro dives are great - good instructors and you can dive right off the bottom of the pontoon, right into some great reef areas. The snorkeling right off the pontoon is also great. For those who don't want to get in the water, the semi-sub and glass bottom boat were good too. Everything except diving (and helicopter rides) were included, so there was no hard-selling on the boat ride. Last, but not least - if you get even the least bit seasick, definitely take your meclizine or Dramamine ahead of time. The wind kicks up in the afternoon and things can get a bit choppy. Since you're either on the boat or the pontoon for the whole time, there's no escaping the ocean, and no escaping sea sickness...
