Don’t hesitate to book this wonderful family owned vintage motel! It is impeccably maintained by the owners and has a restful, positive vibe. It is near to a beautiful semi private beach and a short drive from all the best of SC. Our room had a kitchenette and a little sofa and was extremely clean and cozy. There are varied and tasty restaurants and amenities nearby. Delighted with our stay and hope to come back!

Sunny cove is a nicely redone little motel! The owner is lovely, and definitely does her best to make you feel at home. The beds, towels and kitchen were all very clean. The floor felt a little gritty, like you needed to dust your feet off before you got into bed, but didn’t have any major issues. The motel is older so the rooms have thinner walls and you can hear a bit of noise from the rooms next door and in the parking lot. The wifi and reception are pretty bad, though we had trouble with cell reception all throughout Santa Cruz. The fridge is large and the kitchen is well equipped and clean, it was easy to make breakfast in and one could easily have cooked here if you were staying for a while. I hadn’t noticed that there wasn’t air conditioning when I booked, but it didn’t really feel necessary when we were there in June, we just left the windows open a little at night and it stayed cool enough for us. If you run hot you may want to ask if there is a fan or keep the windows open. The bathroom was well cleaned and had good water pressure. Overall, if the wifi was stronger we would have appreciated it as we had a bit of work to do while on vacation and it’s nice to have wifi to look up restaurants etc. but other than that we were comfortable and had a great stay!

We have been coming to sunny cove motel for the last 10 years. I love it. Jane is always accommodating and we always have s good time. I think it’s time she retires, lol and passes her job on to me. Love this place

It’s a great little motel. The people are friendly and accommodating. If you need a firm pillow for any reason bring your own.

Stayed at the motel in January 2024. This motel was special.Clean and so comfortable. The beds were comfortable and clean. Kitchen was well stocked with everything I needed to cook a great dinner with my supplies. 2 blocks away was a colorful sunset. I could see this was a locals quiet place to watch the sunsets. Plus I could watch the surfers. Great place to stay. I would stay here again

Google
My family arrived early around noon and the lady in charge let us check in early with no extra fee. The beds are super comfortable. And there's a full kitchen with everything you need. All the lamps and appliances work and it's right next door to a a Starbucks. 20 mins from the boardwalk and the college ucsc. My fee was very high I'm assuming because it was a Friday night? I paid close to $250 for one night. Other than that this place was GREAT .. super cute and clean.. did I mention the comfortable bed!!

Google
Perfect location for accessing all the fun activities in Santa Cruz! Jane is such a sweet lady! She is so friendly and takes the time to walk the property with you and explain what all is around to do. She truly cares about her guests stay and their comfort. The hotel is a cute little vintage motel stay, very clean rooms with a “comfort of home” feel. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Impressive accommodations, including peace and total comfort. I slept better than I have in weeks. The room was beautiful, with many thoughtful touches, and very clean. I appreciated the ceramic tile floor in place of the usual old, germy carpet. The lady who checked us in gave us our choice of rooms because we were the first guests to arrive. She wanted us to go take a look inside the rooms before choosing. How nice?! I have never had such a pleasant check-in experience in my life. Shower, water pressure, and temp were great. Towels were actually plush. Wi-Fi not superb but not a big deal. We were comfy and happy. I would definitely recommend staying here. One Saturday night: $256. Worth it.

Yelp
I highly recommend this place. My wife and I are currently staying here. We're enjoying it so much, we're going to stay another night. The sweet woman who runs the front desk puts you immediately at ease. After a long drive from San Diego, she was warm and made me instantly feel relaxed and welcomed. Nothing felt rushed. Oh!!! And there's the sweetest dog who will definitely greet you...if you like. Our room is charming and wonderful.. With a darling kitchen. I feel extremely safe...even if I want to crack my window at midnight to smell the ocean air. There's so much within walking distance. Starbucks. Dollar tree. Liquor store. Restaurants. The beach!! Only steps away! Bottom line, I can't say enough. Clean. Safe. Chill vibe. Comfortable beds. Pretty close to perfect.

Yelp
We are repeat guests and there were some nice upgrades. We liked the Santa Cruz beach vibe additions. Once again Jane was accommodating and sweet, we like her a lot! We left the inland 100 temps to find Sunny Cove 70 and sunny, with an awesome ocean breeze. Lazily hang out poolside. We'll be back!

Yelp
Quiet. A little smelly, but easy to get to. I may not stay here again, but it was close to the beach, with Famers Market, restaurants, and Starbucks a stones throw away.

Yelp
Quaint dog friendly hotel, very clean rooms, very good prices, great location, super friendly managed (owner?).

Yelp
We live here when we're in town. Clean accommodations & pool for the kiddies. Beach and Starbucks within walking distance.

Yelp
It's a motel. Meh. Location is good. Not particularly comfortable, decor and bedding unimpressive and colors clash, but Santa Cruz is expensive and this place is ok if you're not prepared to pony up $300 a night, I guess.

Yelp
I can't say enough about how great this spot is. The pool was an amazing space for us to enjoy bubbles and I could prepare lunch in the fully stocked kitchen. The staff is so accommodating and friendly. This felt like a home away from home. This will be my go-to spot for all my future Santa Cruz excursions.

Yelp
Sunny Cove saved my butt!! I had booked an airbnb, but when I arrived I found out it was a total scam. It was Tuesday, in July at 5pm, I had a dog and a limited budget. I called around and found that this motel had a room I could afford and accepted dogs! The lady Janice? Was very friendly and welcoming. It was a simple room facing the street, but walking distance to the beach. The street noise did not bother us and there was a fan that drown out any noise. At night it was really quiet. The bed was so comfortable and we slept with no issues. Great shower too. I would definitely be back as I come to Santa Cruz often to visit my grandfather. Thanks a million!

Yelp
I have been staying at Sunny Cove for 3 years. For what you get, it's a great value. Here's what I love about it: DOG FRIENDLY! & Jane (motel manager) is always so sweet & helpful. The location is perfect if you like to be able to walk to the beach. The rooms are spacious & always clean. (Not sure what the bad reviews are about but I've never had dirty accommodations here.) Parking is limited but again never ran into an issue. The swimming pool area is nicely kept and a nice area for bbq in the summer if you like to cook out. The only issue I can say is the beds are a little stiff and could use some updated bedding/blankets. Otherwise it's a cozy clean place to stay in Santa Cruz for affordable rates. Sunny cove is now our home away from home. Thank you Jane for always taking care of us

Kye W.

Yelp
My mother and I had an absolutely lovely stay here during the week. The rates were reasonable the location is fantastic and this place has an amazing amount of charm. It has a small swimming pool and the rooms have kitchens! They are pet friendly and I just love the tile floors. Jane checked us in and was very accommodating. My Mother is in poor health and we are trying to make some memories. A trip to Santa Cruz was just what she needed and Sunny cove was a lovely place to stay. I can't say enough nice things about Sunny cove or the Manager Jane. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
My boyfriend & I were looking for sort of a last minute getaway in Santa Cruz. Sunny Cove happened to have availability. I was a little worried at first because the website isn't much, but who needs a website when you're a gem of a motel! I called and Jane got us hooked up with second level room, which had a great view. She checked us in a tad early and was just a blast to talk to. She created a country out of my last name! Loved it.

Yelp
I wasn't expecting much when I saw the motel from the street, then I turned into the parking lot. It's a quaint little spot with some charming rooms. We had room #2, upstairs over the motel office. Perfect for a group of 4, anymore than that and it would feel a bit packed. Although, who cares about that when you should be spending most of the time outside the room. The balcony was cool, but again, we didn't spend much time in the room. The customer service was awesome! The manager, Jane, accommodated our group perfectly. The kicker...the beach is literally down a little road to the side of the motel. After a long day of bike riding, our group decided to have a little bonfire. We stayed out there well past midnight with no problems. We will definitely be going back. Again, Thanks for everything, Jane!

Yelp
Nice affordable hotel close to the beach. They have kitchenette in the room. Very laid back staff. Great place to stay.

Yelp
Truly a hidden gem! My family and I are so happy to have found this quaint and charming little spot. Our room was more than comfortable and very tidy and clean. Most amazingly is the fact that they are pet friendly and allow dogs. This is not easily found in most hotels, motels, or inns. Jane who runs the place is very warm and kind. You can tell that she genuinely cares for her guests and their comfort. Access to a beach front is literally a few minutes walk. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend to all. Thanks again Jane.

Yelp
Welcoming, great location, lots of space. Do request a second floor room if you're on the corner, car lights can shine right into the ground floor rooms.

Yelp
LOVE this motel!!! It has everything you need and want. The owner, Jane, is super friendly. Nice, clean very big rooms. 3 minute walk to a great beach. No issues with parking. You can have your pets here. I will definitely be back, can't wait for our next trip.

Yelp
Awesome clean rooms and friendly staff! They have a coffee pot with no coffee is my only complaint but Starbucks is around the corner though. Has cute kitchenettes, full size frig, dog friendly.

Yelp
Adorable with a wonderful little walk to the beach. Jade is sweet and very helpful. Note this is also dog friendly with a 2 minute walk to Starbucks! The rooms are a great value and very cozy.

Yelp
We have been coming to Sunny Cove for several years. We have never been satisfied with the accommodations, but compromised due to reasonable prices, local, and pet friendliness.  The beds are REALLY uncomfortable.  We have noticed over our last four or five stays, a decline in the cleanliness of our rooms. Recently, the shower curtains are six inches too long, and harbor mold and smell like urine.  This last visit, the bedspread on the bed was visibly dirty, and smelled like urine.  Undesirable people migrate through the premises at all hours, disrupting sleep during the wee hours.  Parking is a HUGE problem.  On two different stays, we were made to move our car.  There are three spaces designated for compact cars.  There are no other parking directions.  On our most recent stay we were in bed at 10:30pm when Jane, the manager, knocked on our door and asked us to move our car to a compact space.  We have a mid-size car.  The man we were to switch parking spaces with asked "Why do we have to move our cars?"  He didn't have a clue, either.  We tried to explain to Jane that specific parking arrangements should possibly be made upon arrival.  She didn't have an answer to that.  We have also been concerned about the decline in Jane's demeanor and appearance.  Her mood is labile, friendly one minute, the next moment, nasty.  The morning after this parking incident, I went to the office to check out.  Jane YELLED at me for ten minutes.  Telling me we weren't compassionate about her parking dilemma, and, that the parking situation was entirely our fault.  I explained that there was only one parking space left when we returned from dinner, where else could we have parked?  And, that it is not acceptable to be asked to move our car period, especially at 10:30 pm.  She kept yelling at me.  I calmly told her I did not want to discuss this matter any longer, and she literally held my bill and credit card hostage, and continued to yell at me.  I tried to explain that this encounter was not normal and her yelling at me was not good customer service. have some concerns here.  We will not return to Sunny Cove.

Yelp
I could mention a couple of deficiencies, but I don't feel like it. This was the right place at the right price.

Michael M.

Yelp
Hidden Gem! I absolutely loved this place! We will be staying here every time we are in SC from now on. Great rates. Great experience. Beach access just steps from the rooms.

Mary A.

Yelp
Jane owes me for (3) three nights. She ignores emails and refuses to give me a refund. I have always left my rooms spotless (I have photos).

Yelp
Prior posts have indicated that some reviews are false. I would like to state that the positive reviews are in no way created to drive business. Sunny Cove is five star worthy! I have no affiliation with the owners or businesses near the motel. My review is true. This place is perfect for a beach getaway. Dogs (any size) are welcome and can play at the beach off leash. We were able to leave our dog in the room when we went places he could not go - most places will not allow this. Sunny Cove Motel is simple and does provide mini-kitchens in some units. I stayed in (#9). Full fridge, microwave, and gas stove. Stocked with pots and pans for basic essentials. Small bar counter for eating at. Wi-fi and tv are available. Plenty of towels and linens. If you are looking to be waited on this is not the place but you will get friendly and honest service, a reasonable rate, a reasonable pet rate, clean rooms, and clean bedding. If you do need something you will be taken care of. The motel is on a main road but if noise bothers you do not stay along the street request a room further in. The windows are single pane but this is not an issue if you are staying off the street. We did not have any issue making reservations. Would I stay again? Yes! Would I recommend it? Yes! Was the pool clean? Yes!

Yelp
Very Adorable and cute inside, it's like a little apartment inside and you feel very at home. This place is so closely located to the beach you can walk down in about 4 minutes. A Starbucks is located right next to it

Yelp
Loved it! The woman who runs it was very nice. Had a personal touch. The owner was nice about me bringing my pets and agreed not to have anyone clean it while they were in the hotel room. There was no shampoo or conditioner in the room when we arrived, so we asked for some. First, the owner gave us her OWN personal shampoo to borrow. Then she went to the store and bought us our own shampoo and conditioner.

Yelp
NO STARS---MINUS STARS WOULD BE NICE OR THUMB DOWN!! I have to agree with Winnie, I think they are staging reviews. I called 2 days before my arrival and no one was in the office at 3pm. I left a message and also sent them an email--NO response. Their website is basic, no photos, no way to reserve a room, no information except for a yahoo email address. I guess that is their "funky" way of doing business, but as a small business owner myself, I do not see how you can pay your bills and stay in business operating in such a disorganized way. Anyway, ME the potential customer had to make a second call to the motel the following day trying to reserve a room. I did find someone "live" to speak with. Maybe it was the owner? Dunno know she never identified herself. I explained I needed a room for 3 nights and that I would be driving down from Portland Oregon after making a stop at the Oakland Airport to drop off my husband who had an emergency meeting he had to attend in Los Angeles. I was going to stay in Santa Cruz to visit my daughter before driving back to Los Angeles. The woman at the motel said "Oh yeah, I was going to call you" ( BTW my daughter also called this motel several days before I tried to reach them to arrange a reservation trying to get information about rooms, prices and was told to have me call). The office person I spoke with gave me several options for rooms. I picked one and gave her my credit card to reserve. i told her I did not know exactly what time I would arrive but anticipated around 6:30pm or before. She indicated there would be no problem. I was visiting during the off season, the price including the pet fee was $80.00. I cannot comment on whether that is reasonable. After a 14 hour drive, I arrived at 5:45 pm at Sunny Cove. Contrary to other yelpers who posted their reviews here, I was not greeted by a "nice lady with her cute dog". Surprise, surprise I was greeted with a post-it note saying "Office closed". I find myself tired, hungry, alone with my little dog in a dark parking lot. The only staff at the hotel were non-English speaking housekeepers who had no idea where "Mrs Owner" was. A friendly gentleman whom I think is a monthly tenant at Sunny Cove came out of his unit and tried to help me, but he had "no idea" where the manager/owner "wondered off to" and could only offer "she leaves a lot". I called the office ph # several times but only got their crappy answering machine, no referral for any emergency cell #. After waiting in the dark for 45 minutes or longer. I called Days Inn in Santa Cruz where my husband and I had stayed the week before on our way up to Portland. They had a room. People may slam Days Inn as being in the "hood" but at least it is clean and I can take my dog. I KNOW there will always be someone at the front desk. I have a suggestion for the owner of Sunny Cove, if you want to keep your non-corporate, funky beach motel feeling, that is fine, but grow up and realize people are tired and do not like being left stranded. You had my credit card info and my cell phone, would it have killed you to leave the key for me somewhere, or the door open to the room and call me letting me know it was okay to enter the room? I hope you never find yourself stranded and alone with your pet after a 14 hour drive somewhere. Some may call it Funky and laid back, I call it a poor business model and just plain RUDE!!!

Yelp
Jane is always welcoming. We have been coming here for years. It is slowly being updated and you can't brat the short walk to the cove. Love this place!! Rooms generally come with a full kitchen, a room and a sleeping area in living room. I've stayed all over the property but I love the room above the office. Check it out. Well worth it!!!

Yelp
If I'm staying at a motel, I expect to smell the faint stale scent of cigarettes through the recycled air and hear bikers chatting at 2:00 a.m. outside my room. I'd still probably rate such a motel at 3 stars, cuz it does its job and sells nothing beyond that. At Sunny Cove Motel, one hears ocean waves, smells ocean air, sleeps on a cozy bed. Management-wise, Jane is pure heart, considerate and quirky. The room was above-par with amenities I would never expect from a motel. Cheers to making this road trip stop a lucky spot along the way.

Yelp
Great location. Management sux. Jane makes you feel like you are annoying her if you call or need anything. Is it really necessary to roll your eyes and be curtly rude every time someone comes to the office? Kudos, however, to this quaint motel and Jane for being dog friendly. I've met Jane frequently during times enjoyed at Sunny Cove over the years. This last stay, unfortunately, was awful: room wasn't clean, no towels, dirty linens. Maybe it was an off week, perhaps Jane needs to hire better help. . . .the stairs to my room were chipped, hence a slip and fall when checking in; I've stayed this very same room at Sunny Cove and know it well. Repairs are overdue. Used to love this motel, unfortunately, it has gone downhill. Mucky swimming pool. The rooms aren't clean and doors and windows don't lock properly, so lock your valuables in your car. This charming motel has potential, but needs major TLC.

Yelp
I loved this motel. Very clean and the manager is very accommodating. The beach is only a 1/2 block away. I am definitely going to stay here again. It had a kitchen with a refrigerator which is very nice since I had a baby. We even accidentally left an item in the motel at checkout and the manager called to ask if we needed it shipped to us. That's very rare for a motel to be so honest. This is the only place I will stay in Santa Cruz for now on. :)

Yelp
I had the pleasure of staying two nights at Sunny Cove Motel last week. First off, it's dog friendly, which is always appreciated, and secondly, the whole experience was friendly and family-like. The manager, Jane, is very accommodating and makes you feel welcome right away. The studio I rented was very clean, nice bed and linens, a separate area for for sitting/sleeping on a futon, and spotless bathroom, shower, and large sink. The kitchen had all you needed, small refrigerator, microwave, gas stove/oven, and dishes and even wine glasses. The first morning I opened my door for a look at the weather, and my dog wandered out to say hi to the neighbors and their dogs. Everyone was laid-back and kind. Lots of families with kids hanging their wet suits and towels on porch for the next beach day. The Cove beach is steps around the corner, and there are so many places to walk and see the sunset on any cliff in the neighborhood. Lots of Mexican neighborhood markets nearby where you can purchase carnitas, wonderful tortillas, salsa. Saving the best for last: the price! $90.00 a night with dog fee included! I almost want to keep it a secret! I believe you can rent by the week and month as well. If you like a relaxed family and dog friendly beach motel, this is it!

Yelp
I mean... it has all the stuff I needed for a turn around trip. Jane was wonderful at check in, we arrived an hour early from Ventura county and she got us settled in right away. It's a cute little affordable non glam spot to rest your head. Sheets and towels were clean, there was no funky smells, simple and did the job. The only think that could maybe use an adjustment was the shower head. Maybe I didn't know how to adjust it but my goodness, it felt like a sand spraying from the heavens. I'll be back.

Yelp
Second visit even better than the first! Thanks Jane! We love this place and the location. Ssshhhhhh, it's the best kept secret in Santa Cruz.

Yelp
Great location & value! We stayed in newly updated room. Near beautiful Sunny Cove beach. Very quiet and peaceful. Starbucks across st. Featured in Lonely Planet travel book!

Yelp
If you're looking for an old school experience of what a beach motel is then Sunny Cove is it. It is the perfect combination of laid back, beat, stones throw from the beach and centrally located. Walking into the recently remodeled room near the pool is a step backwards in time. The small bedroom in the front with the kitchen and sitting room in back has all the makings of a family get away that includes the dog. The single pane windows allow one to hear everything that is going on outside. The thin drapes lets all the light in. This isn't for a romantic get away but for enjoying the beach with family and friends. People hangout by the swimming pool talking and chatting. No one would dare jump into the unheated pool on a late winter day even if the weather is sunny and unseasonably warm. If one is going to jump into cold water the ocean is a few blocks away. Instead they would hang out, barbecue and talk about their day. Stores, restaurants and shops are all with in walking distance of the motel. Exploring the neighborhood before heading down to the beach, I ran into a few of the guests from the motel shopping and exploring as I was. After picking some items up from the store, I headed back to the motel to stock the kitchen with the supplies. Realizing that I was missing kitchen kitchen utensils, I asked the front desk person if they had what I needed. They disappeared for a moment and handed me what I needed then told me just keep it in the room. For the price, location and pet friendly this is a little hidden jewel of a place.

Yelp
I enjoyed my rather lengthy stay at this tucked a way treasure of a motel! The staff were all supper friendly and accommodating making my stay there very welcoming and comfortable! The rates are competitive for the area, and quite reasonable! I have a dog, and he stayed with me as well, and I was not charged some crazy amount just for my dog to stay there with me! Out of all the hotels/motels in Santa Cruz, CA that I have visited, this one is my favorite! Its a clean, comfortable, and a quite get away. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great place to stay, and is not looking to spend a crazy fee just for there dog/pet to stay with them! The location is one of the best! You got the Santa Cruz, CA harbor about a mile away, as well as some of the most popular beaches in town just a short walk away. there are shops near by, laundry near by, gas near by, and some wonderful restaurants at your finger tips! It does not matter if your a local looking for temporary housing while you are finding a permanent place, or an out of town guest on holiday, this is the perfect place for everyone!

Yelp
Place was really cute and affordable. Right next to a little beach cove area. The place was bigger than it looks from the outside, you get a full kitchen, bathroom, and everything. Jane will help you with ideas of what to do around the area, she provided us with pamphlets/brochures & magazines. Not the ideal hotel stay you'd imagine but it was nice and gave a homey feel.
google avatar

Kate N.

Yelp
The owner was very sweet and accomodating. My complaints would be that the location is very loud. She warned us that the room was next to the street, although we didn't realize just how loud that meant it would be. We could hear cars and people all night long which made it nearly impossible to sleep. In addition the shower had no hot water in the morning. After speaking to the owner she informed us the repairman forgot to turn the heater on after making repairs, and she refunded us $20. Mistakes happen, and I believe this motel has a lot of potential. It just needs some tlc, but even with that the noise is too hard to overcome for me.

Yelp
Well this a hidden gem!! My 3 sisters and I stayed this past weekend. Jane, the manager and/or owner, is helpful, kind and knowledgeable about the area. Jane called us as soon as our room was ready, which was way earlier than most places and when we needed an iron she got it in our room before we had to get ready to go out. She provides a laid back, comfortable stay in her cute motel setup. We stayed in #4 which was a two bedroom little suite. There is a kitchenette, private bathroom, 2 queen beds and a futon in the sun room that makes out to a bed. It is literally steps from the beach. You can see the water and coast from the room. There is also restaurants and grocery store close within walking distance. We chose to Uber around to the boardwalk and other places that are close but not close enough to walk. The room is best described as a little beach house. It's clean, comfortable and located perfectly! It's not the Hilton and you will be disappointed if that's what you want. If you want a cozy and convenient stay while visiting Santa Cruz, this place is perfect! We had so much fun and felt blessed to have a great place to stay at a decent price! We WILL be back!!

Yelp
We just had the most incredible first time experience staying at this motel. We unfortunately had situation where our dogsitter fell through so I called the motel and they were graciously accommodating. The location is beyond PERFECT. Minutes and walking distance from anything you may need or want. I mean Starbucks on the corner and less than 75 feet from the beach, come on! But.... It's the service you receive that makes the stay that much more amazing. It's like visiting your Mom's for the weekend. So be RESPECTFUL. Everyone staying here is in close proximity, so get to know your neighbors. They may have some awesome suggestions on things to check out that you might not have considered. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay. Looking forward to staying here for now on.

Yelp
If you want fancy pancy corporate sterile plastic America, and that is what you are used to, try Motel 6. If you are open to a great spot with character, humor and one-of-a-kind authenticity, this is for you. It is European in its charm and mild funkiness. For me it is perfect, and it might be for you too.

Erin S.

Yelp
I hate to do this because then people will know about this secret spot; but I have to do it because I want the owners to know how wonderful it is. We won't stay anywhere else in SC when we drive down from San Francisco. There is a little kitchenette which is perfect to heat up your leftovers from dinner. Comfy bed and the bathrooms were just redone; tiny but clean and effective. Little pool for the summer rinse off after a dip in the Ocean which is just adjacent to the location. Don't come if you're looking for a super resort- it's a MOTEL and it's absolutely perfect by motel standards.

Yelp
Writting a review even though I haven't stayed there in years. Recently went by to check on a room and realized the manager ""Jane " was still there. That is unfortunate because as long as she is stil the manager, I will not stay there. This place has such great potential too. Its an old "Motel" style location that reminds me of my youth. Has its own pool and a short walk to the beach. Its a classic. Unfortunatley so is a Jane..a classic pain in the ass. She once put me in a room that had cockroaches. When I explained my displeasure she got defensive and argumentative. She is horrible and it's really a shame that the owner still has her run the place. If you try and call you might get a recording and they may or may not call you back. There are no online reservations. Then there is Jane. She brings this quaint, cute, and fun 4 star motel down to a 1 star rating. I used to think it was funny, cute and when I referred friends to the Sunny Cove they would always complain about Jane. Then I realized any business that employs mean, nasty rude people like Jane do not deserve my money. Too bad to because I would definitely stay here again but refuse to as long as Jane is the manager. Enjoy

Yelp
Best kept secret about Santa Cruz. Kinda ghetto-fabulous but clean with a great price! Then you can go buy yourself something at one of the nearby surf shops! Dog friendly too.

Yelp
My son and I decided to go to Santa Cruz this past weekend for the first time ever. A friend referred me to Sunny Cove Motel and boy am I glad he did! The rooms are clean, comfy and quiet. Jane at the front desk was friendly and helpful and gave us a coupon to use at the Boardwalk and gave easy directions. We had the best time and wish we could have stayed longer. The next morning we decided to check out early to go grab breakfast and explore the downtown area and being the blonde I am, I left my cell phone in the room. The maids found it, Jane called me to let me know and even shipped it to me that day! Thanks soooo much Jane, and we look forward to seeing you again next summer!

Yelp
My husband, two daughters and I just stayed at this hotel for the past few nights and LOVED it! The location (in walking distance to the beach) was wonderful, having kitchen to cook in was very convenient, (especially with two little ones), and the manager, Jane was amazing! She was very approachable and kind and even lent us some beach toys for the girls because we forgot all ours. It was well kept and the pool was super fun when we didn't feel like going in the ocean. We will definitely be coming back next time we visit Santa Cruz!

Yelp
We ended up here, late at night with a boxer dog in tow. Pleasantly surprised. It's a motel so I'm not going over the top with what you're getting here but the room was clean, love the tile floor from a cleanliness perspective, well supplied with towels, a little kitchenette with a few glasses & plates and ample room. Pets are allowed. There was no remnant smell of prior pets, completely undetectable. The location is great as there is a beach cove about 500 feet down the driveway (stairs at the manager's office back patio). Dogs allowed on the beach too! The windows do not have screens and there are no mechanisms to keep them ajar so you'll need to be creative. And only because others here have made negative comments do I feel the need to share that Jane (manager) was lovely, checked in but not nosy, and responsive.

Yelp
we found this motel from the other faithful yelp users and they couldn't have more right! we arrived and were greeted by owner and her cute dog, who were both sweet as pie. she even walked us to our room, which was spacious, clean and with a full kitchen ( great if you want to stay for a couple of days). rooms are right near a cute little beach just a walk down 17th ave. we woke on Sunday morning to find we were right across the street from a great little farmers market. a must! reasonable prices for a great hassle free stay!
