voco Guangzhou Shifu

We stayed 8 nights here as a family in a king & twin premium. ||1. Location - Nice local neighbourhood around Shifu Road (actually Di Shi Ba Fu Road) and ShangXiaJiu Pedestrian Street is literally downstairs. There is a convenient store, their own Voco coffee place and many eateries and within walking distance towards Liwan Plaza you have McDonald’s, Starbucks, 7-11, Chagee etc options so very accessible.||We used this as a base to explore the major city attractions which are typically a 20-30m car ride away (Beijing Street, Shamian Island, DongFangKou) - Yong Qing Fang is a 10-15m walk which was great for us and Chen Clan is also nearby.||2. Service - Very warm, hospitable and polite from the concierge (helped us with bags, gave directions, arranged our transport for Foshan day trip) to front desk (check-in was a breeze, they helped us with our warm water requests at night, arranged rooms on same floor) and the restaurant staff (who were very good at getting a table for 5 every morning, helping us with new utensils coffee etc)||3. Rooms - Very new, spacious, comfortable and well equipped. We had some minor issues with the toilet flush on Day 1 but they were very prompt to resolve with 2 plumbers. Daily housekeeping was a plus and they were very nice replenishing all the necessities like water, tissues and towels as and when needed. Very polite staff.||4. Breakfast & Food - Great sumptuous spread served daily from 7am to 1030am. We wanted to try the buffet dinner just take note it’s only available from Fri-Sun. The best thing is they have a self-service coffee machine outside the breakfast place for takeaways which was very convenient to grab before heading off for the day (which was very popular by the way so just tell the staff if the machine needs milk refills or clearing the coffee tray).||Overall, highly recommended & a great choice.

The location is fantastic. The coffee outside the hotel also by voco is the best. The rooms are spacious BUT the bed is too soft, like the kind that has no more support & should have been replaced a long time back. The WORST: The shower walls are so dirty it's screaming for a good scrub. And the wooden flooring in the room is do sticky, don walk around without bedroom slippers (which they do provide)

All are very good. Special thanks to those who are taking care of our safety when we arrive at the hotel and off the vehicle, and help unload our luggage. Thanks to the counter lady who is doing a check in for me to understand my needs and requests. Also thanks to the guy who volunteered to help bring down my 8 luggages when seeing us pulling luggages out from our room on our check out day. Breakfast is good. All the staff are good. Only thing which I think could be better is the self service laundry service. The dryer is not effective at all. Clothes still wet even with two times dry cycle. Ended up. I only wash, then bring back my clothes to hang everywhere in my room to dry. Need to pay for the laundry, both wash and dry. Everytime, need to trouble the counter staff to come up from the lobby to help for I can't use WeChat to online purchase the laundry service. Laundry service ends at 10pm. But most of the time, I only reach hotel and settle down with my family near to or after 10pm after the trip..

We stayed at Voco for 4 nights and booked two King bed standard rooms for our family.We were immediately upgraded to a more spacious room by the friendly and multilingual staff. The rooms were fantastic with ample space and great decor. It was slightly spoiled somewhat by a large fridge in the middle of the room which wins points for practically but is a little sore on the eyes and not in line with beautiful decor.The only other minor negative was lighting. The bathrooms were dimly lit and unlike the fridge wins for ambience but not practical for guests wanting to get ready.The location was good and in the middle of Old Town Guangzhou and walkable to the south of the region with higher end restaurants. Guangzhou is huge and so taking taxis and having a DiDi app is a must for those that like convenience. Travelling by taxis is so cheap compared to the UK and Europe.Amenities were very good with laundry room and a very good choice of western and Chinese food at breakfast. Gym was great but I wasn’t allowed to use the swimming pool without a hat! First time in all my travels and multiple hotels this has been a requirement so one to remember!Overall a very good hotel if you want to stay in the old town and enjoy local food. If you are willing to travel via taxi then it’s a very good location.

We missed our connecting flight in HK and the next flight was midnight. After arriving in GZ, trying to figure the didi app and pickup point, we only arrived Voco at 5am with two young kids. One of the staff - Pure Xie saw us and was empathetic. Without a word, she speedily checked us in and brought us to our room (helping with the luggages). We can’t thank her enough! I hope this review gets to her that we really appreciate her help and kindness! Besides her, everyone else at Voco were very helpful. Conceirge staff helped us find a driver for our day trip to Shenzhen and pricing was reasonable. Staff even came down to ensure we board the car successfully even though his shift has not started. He really went over and beyond. Unfortunately we did not get his name. Staff Eden helped linked us up with a dining place that we had difficulty booking. The breakfast was great and had good variety but as we stayed there for 8 nights, it would be great if there’s some change to the menu. Location was pretty near to places on our itinerary with furthest being a 35min didi ride. Riding out of the hotel will be slow as the road is usually jammed with the markets in operation and it is a one way street. Room was very clean and housekeeping did a great job! Delivery robot was really cute and working hard too. Very reliable to deliver our orders timely to our room. Will definitely be back! Ps: rated amenities one star lower as it would be great to have a play area for kids. Something to improve on.

I can surely give Voco Hotel 5*!! The place was spotless, beautifully maintained, and had such a calm and cozy atmosphere.||The staff were kind, polite, and ready to help. Our cleaning lady was so lovely and always greeted us with a smile. She really went the extra mile to make sure our room was perfect every day.||Having washing machines available was a big bonus! We were there for 10 days so we could easily do our laundry for a small fee, which made our stay even more convenient.||The hotel is surrounded by local residents, which gave it such an authentic and homely feel. We enjoyed walking around and connecting with the people, everyone was so friendly and welcoming.

We spent 4 nights at the hotel, located at the old town with easy accessible to many eateries, and Yongqing Fang which was a nice place to walk around. ||Room was comfortable, clean and of good size. Self laundry is available in the hotel. We did not have breakfast at the hotel as there were many options outside of the hotel. ||There was cigarette smoke on one of the floors though. It would have been better without it.

This is my second time staying at this hotel, and once again the experience was excellent. The room is clean, comfortable, and the location is convenient. What stood out even more was the service — the team helped keep a parcel for me, and assisted patiently when I came to collect it, making everything smooth and hassle-free. Their professionalism and friendly attitude make me feel welcomed and well taken care of every time. I truly appreciate the staff’s effort and attention to detail. Definitely recommend this hotel if you want to do shopping at Shangxiajiu.
