Sunrise stands by its name. If you need authentic traditional experience of staying in Japanese accommodation then this is best choice. Rooms are nice, quite spacious and washrooms are huge as compared to Japanese hotel standards. Housekeeping is excellent. A minor issue with ground floor rooms, the lights from lobby area keep it lightened. For Japan, daily doing more than 20k steps, sleeping is never an issue, but some persons may have. Enjoyed the authentic Bento box breakfast, convenient to carry around. Host gives lot of personal touch and try their level best to make your stay very comfortable. Just few meters away from bus stand and 400 meters from railway station. Location is excellent. This is located at quieter part of Kyoto, loved the stay. Food joints are just at the door step. Would definitely repeat if ever get opportunity again.

If you are planning a trip to Kyoto, I cannot recommend this place enough! My fiance and I stayed for six nights at the beginning of November for the start of our three-week vacation to Japan. When we booked it, we didn't realize that it was quite literally across the street from Toji Temple. There is a rooftop garden with the most beautiful view of the temple. The hotel itself is stunning, and the amenities are plentiful. Breakfast is included daily, and it is delivered to your room. Our room came with a whole kitchenette and a washer that doubled as a dryer. The employees are kindest and most accommodating hospitality workers I have ever come across in my life.

Fantastic location directly across from the pagoda. Roof top view was amazing. Rooms are large and comfortable. The queen size bed is one of the more comfortable ones i have had in japan. Only downside is due to the nature of the rooms and the building you will get loud street noise in the room occasionally. If you are a light sleeper bring some ear plugs and you’re golden. Great spot. Would stay again.

Nice, big and comfortable room. Great service by the staff too and able to speak good English. Convenient with a mini mart just beside the hotel, drug store further down. A couple of food choices out of the touristy area. Nice place if you drive cos it’s hard to go to the tourist attractions without a vehicle as there is no train stations nearby.

Quiet location with easy access to public transport; ideal if you don't want to be in the chaos. In bedroom breakfast, and the room has a kitchenette. Washing machine in room, too. ❤️ Take the elevator all the way up for rooftop views.

The hotel was excellent. It was by far the most spacious and memorable room during our trip. The hotel is just across the street from Toji temple and can be seen from the room or the communal balconies. It was nice that it came with a kitchenette and supplies in case we wanted to make our own food during our stay. Overall, the room and communal areas were clean and orderly. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to visit Kyoto.

Rooms: beautiful and spacious. If you get the double twin beds, you can push them together. Bath tub is small, but much bigger than the other Japan hotel we stayed in. The corridor is sort of open air, so the rain falls into the building and lands beautifully on an inside rock garden. Service: Extremely kind staff. If you’re looking for English, they do their best and all know enough to help. Otherwise you can use Google translate for a little assistance. They have umbrellas at the door for guests to borrow. Location: A little far from the main attractions, so it’ll be roughly 30-60 minutes by bus to get anywhere. If you’re staying in Kyoto, just know that you’ll be taking a lot of buses, as the train system isn’t as vast here. Hotel is right next to two main bus stops and about 6-10 minute walk from train station. Across the street is an awesome temple and garden with a museum. You can but a combination ticket to visit three spots that are across the street. It’s also almost connected to a mini mart, so if you need anything it’s literally right there.

Had a wonderfulu Stay here for a couple Nights in 2023. Super spacious and well equipped Rooms, fantastic Atmosphere and View from the open Floors. It literally feels like you come back into your chillout Area after a long Day of exploring. Train Station, Konbini etc. very close to the Hotel. Really the most beautiful and convenient Hotel we had over several Weeks across Japan. Would totally come back for another Stay.
