"Fresh Seafood at Water's Edge You can't beat this - a delicious, freshly caught seafood dinner on the edge of the Aegean Sea. Sunset Taverna is located in Ammoudi, at the base of the cliffs in Oia, Santorini - dramatic scenery for simple, rustic, delicious food. From the castle in Oia, enjoy a leisurely, winding walk down to the marina (or take a car down the coastal road). Feast on lobster spaghetti, fresh grilled seafood, baked feta, stuffed eggplant, Fisherman's Salad. Hike back up to Oia under the clear, starry night."

The most beautiful dinner and so romantic. Our server was so amazing and we ordered everything he recommended. The food was divine and we absolutely loved the whole vibe. It gets a bit windy at night, so I recommend bringing an extra layer, but they had blankets for those who forgot to bring an extra cover-up! 10 out of 10!

This was a dinner where you were expected to reserve a table in advance if you wanted to be sure of getting a spot. The reservation cost was €180 for a table for two. The amount, however, is credited toward the food :) Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the level of service. Everyone seemed to have a different task — one person brought the drinks, another brought the food. The waiter took our order, but then we received everything almost at the same time — starters and main courses — with no chance to enjoy the starters first. We told them we wouldn’t be eating the main courses because we hadn’t even had a chance to try the appetizers yet. The waiter had simply made a mistake and put everything in to come out at once. Unfortunately, we felt that the waiters’ approach was a bit forced and unnatural. For the price we paid, the attention to our table was lacking. The atmosphere didn’t feel warm or personal. For a taverna, it felt a bit distant. That said, the food was tasty, and the view was absolutely breathtaking.

We had the most beautiful lunch at Sunset Ammoudi during our stay in Santorini, and honestly, it felt like something out of a movie. The setting is just magical — right on the edge of the water in Ammoudi Bay! The seafood was incredibly fresh, and everything we ordered was delicious. The grilled octopus was a standout — tender, smoky, and perfectly seasoned. Tuna tartare was my personal favorite 🥰 If you’re looking for a relaxed, authentic seafood lunch with an unforgettable view, I can’t recommend Sunset Ammoudi enough. One of our favorite meals of the trip, hands down.

We had a wonderful experience — a truly beautiful spot, just half a meter from the water. The atmosphere was absolutely stunning. Our waiter, Jannis, was impeccable: friendly, attentive, and incredibly professional throughout the entire evening. He really made us feel welcome. The sun-dried octopus was exceptional, full of flavor and perfectly prepared. The lobster linguine was also outstanding — a must-try dish! Highly recommended!

Absolutely magical dining experience right by the water in Ammoudi Bay! From the stunning sea views and the relaxed ambiance to the fresh, flavorful seafood—everything was top-notch. We started with perfectly crispy calamari and succulent prawns, followed by the lobster pasta, which was rich, satisfying, and beautifully presented. The cocktails were refreshing and paired wonderfully with the food. A special shoutout to Yannis, who made our meal even more enjoyable with his warm hospitality and great service. You can see the care that goes into each dish—from the tank to the table—freshness you can taste. Watching the sun sparkle over the sea while enjoying this incredible food was a moment to remember. Highly recommend this place if you’re visiting Santorini—it’s not just a meal, it’s an experience.

everything tasted delicious, octopus leg was a little bit firm. but service was great, we came without reservation and sat right by the sea. we ordered fish, orzo past with fish, grilled squid and octopus. vibe is amazing, especially for sunset. the place is pricy.

A Magical First Night in Santorini – Worth Every Penny and Then Some After 14 hours of travel through the night, we landed in Santorini absolutely exhausted—but determined to kick off the first night of our honeymoon right. Sunset Ammoudi did more than deliver; it gave us an unforgettable culinary experience that set the tone for the rest of our trip. We’re big-time foodies, and while this restaurant is often labeled as “pricey” with people assuming you’re just paying for the view, we’re here to say: yes, the view is jaw-droppingly gorgeous, but the food is what truly steals the show. And in our case, the company made it a trifecta of perfection. We reserved the coveted €180 sunset table a month in advance, and let me tell you, it was worth every cent—and more. That reservation goes toward your final bill, so it made it feel like a head start on an indulgent evening of eating and drinking. The Meal (Prepare to Be Jealous) We started with: • Basket of bread • Marinated olives • Anchovies • Fried squid • A bottle of local wine The flavors were a beautiful welcome to Greece. The olives and anchovies stood out as stars of the first round—bright, briny, and deeply satisfying. The fried squid was crisp, tender, and seasoned to perfection. For our next round, we had: • Grilled octopus • Sautéed scallops • Steamed mussels The grilled octopus was intimidating at first (large suckers and all!) but ended up being one of the best-prepared octopus dishes we’ve ever had—charred just right, tender, and full of smoky sea flavor. Mussels were fresh, juicy, and aromatic. Scallops were good, though in hindsight, we’d probably skip them next time—less wow-factor compared to everything else. Then came the showstopper: • Red Snapper (whole fish) From the visual presentation to the last bite of that perfectly crisp, charred skin—this dish was unforgettable. Fresh, flaky, flavorful. Truly the highlight of the evening. We were stuffed at this point, but couldn’t resist ending the night with one more dish: • Sea bream ceviche Even though we were beyond full, this dish left us wishing we had ordered it sooner. Bright, citrusy, and beautifully balanced—perfect for a hot night by the water. The Service – Above and Beyond And now, to the real MVP of the evening—Yannis (though there may be two Yannis’s, we’re talking about our Yannis). He made us feel welcome, never rushed, and treated us like locals rather than just tourists passing through. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and kind. So much so that we asked him to sign a napkin with the Sunset Ammoudi logo so we could put it in our honeymoon memory book. This man is a gem, and Sunset Ammoudi is lucky to have him. The Bill – A Worthy Splurge We went all out and spent €332.70, which included two bottles of wine and what could easily feed a small group of people. With the €180 sunset table already pre-paid and deducted, the total felt more than reasonable for such a luxurious experience. For us, it wasn’t just a meal—it was an event, a memory, and the perfect start to our honeymoon. ⸻ In Summary: If you’re considering Sunset Ammoudi—do it. Go early enough to catch the full sunset, reserve a premium table in advance, and arrive hungry. You may come for the view, but you’ll leave raving about the food—and if you’re lucky, about your server too. We can’t wait to return. Until next time, Sunset Ammoudi. 🐙🍷🌅

We had the most amazing dinner at Sunset Ammoudi. The food was delicious, the service was incredible, shout out to Yannis who made our experience! Best server we’ve had in Greece. The views here cannot be beat and a table by the water made it the most special.
