Sunset At The Palms Resort

Came back for a second visit January 21-28, as we loved it last April 2024. Better weather in January (cooler), but be sure to take your bug spray to the beach! This adults only resort is absolutely wonderful - excellent staff and service, fantastic food, gorgeous jungle surroundings; beautiful beach is across the road from the resort, and a crossing guard ensures your safety. There are clean, modern washroom facilities at the beach, plus a beach bar with more great food. Never a problem getting a lounge chair at the beach or by the pool. Sunset is a boutique resort, so even at full occupancy, it's never crowded anywhere, and no lineups for food, which is delicious and never disappoints. A good idea though, is to grab your beach/pool towels in the morning, as it can take awhile for the staff to replenish the supply, due to guests not returning used ones. (Shame on those guests!) The clean, comfortable, charming treehouse "standard" rooms are the same as the "deluxe" rooms, only difference is that they are closer to the road, which can be noisy. Earplugs solved that problem for me! Many guests we met had been there multiple times, and we will be back again. Highly recommend for a relaxing vacation!

Absolutely beautiful property that is completely secluded from the other busy resorts in the area. This was our first trip to the Sunset at the Palms, but certainly not our last. The private beach was the most beautiful and well maintained beach that we have ever visited and this includes much of the Caribbean. The property staff are amazing! By the end of the third day, our hosts, servers, and bartenders knew our names and catered to our every request. There was not a single disgruntled staff member in the resort (not typically the case in the larger model resort chains). They truly went above and beyond to ensure that we enjoyed ourselves. ||The villas on the property are unique and offer a lot of privacy. The weather over the New Year’s holiday week was amazing with highs in the mid 80s and lows in the mid 70s. Our deluxe villa had a wonderful breeze and included a ceiling fan and great air conditioning. The restaurant and bar options were nice. The food was different enough each day to provide guests with options and variety.

We had a lovely stay at SATP in December. From the moment we arrived we had a really good feel about the hotel. Checkin was quick and efficient and we were shown to our room within 10 mins of arriving.||Our room was nice with a huge bed but lighting was very dark.||The greatest asset of this resort is the staff - they simply are the best! They are so friendly and cannot do enough for you. Special shout out to Nadine, Navado, Cash, Clevon, Shirlene, Shenicka (always singing) & Jason.||The food in the Lotus Leaf is excellent and would recommend you eat in there where you can. Breakfast is hit and miss but generally pretty good. Fresh fruit, granola, egg station etc. ||The beach is across the road but is no big deal as the guard assists you over (due to the traffic not safety). The beach is beautiful and we went there everyday. My only criticism is the sunbeds on the beach - they definitely need replacing! Some are broken and all are really uncomfortable. For a high end resort this is a big let down considering you are on the sunbed most of the day. This is the only reason I did not rate as excellent!!||There are street vendors on the beach but if you say a polite no they leave you alone.||Be sure to tip Donavan (plays guitar on the beach) he is excellent!!||Whilst we were at the resort they had a beach bbq which was really good!||Would defo recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Negril.

This resort is not for people who want non-stop organized activities, loud music, or nightclub dancing from dusk until dawn. SATP is beautiful, tranquil and calming, and if that is what you want from a vacation, then this is definitely the place for you. As a solo traveller, I met some wonderful guests, and the marvellous staff made me feel quite appreciated. The buffet food was good, especially the breakfasts, and the two set dinners were very nice - do take advantage of them. Also make sure you go on the garden tour even if horticulture is not your thing so that you can see the beautiful grounds - just bring a bottle of water because it is hot! And don't worry about having to cross the road to the beach - staff make sure that you do it safely, and it's not that long of a walk. The beach is magnificent and the bar, restaurant and restrooms there are very nice and spotless!

Our second visit - and we were instantly reminded of why we decided to return! Friendly, peaceful and so beautiful. ||In fact, this year was even better - most notably the food was a step up from last year and the twice weekly reggae band was vastly improved by a guitarist and new singer. ||The cabins are fairly basic, but have everything you need and if you’re after being up in the trees with hummingbirds and woodpeckers for company, over shiny marble, this place is for you. ||The gardens are just beautiful and the pool a slice of paradise. The fact you have to cross a road to the beach is surprisingly not much of an issue and there’s always plenty of loungers at both locations. It feels like a real privilege to have a slice of spacious private beach with trees and a handful of umbrellas rather than regimented rows of sunbeds at the bigger hotels on the bay. The sand is beautiful and it’s a gentle slope into the sea, no major ridges or sharp ricks/shells etc - no need for sea shoes. Each hotel has an area delineated by buoys that the boats stay outside of - it could be a bit bigger as not super deep at low tide and sadly there’s nothing to snorkel around. ||About the only other negative I can think of is that the lobster shack just down the beach can play very loud music as can the catamarans that moor up adjacent on the other side. ||Aside from the beauty of the facilities, what makes this place so special is the staff. Friendly, kind and fun. They genuinely make you feel like you’re at home. And when the concierge finds you by the pool/beach to check in with you, they’re not flogging the spa services but are asking if everything is working in the room, do you have the things you like in the mini-bar, do you want to make a reservation for dinner etc etc. So wonderful to have them focus on whether they are fully providing the services you’ve already paid for rather than trying to upsell. And the addition of a WhatsApp means of keeping in touch is fabulous - no need yo interrupt your holiday to summon up extra hangers/Diet Coke/change dinner times etc. ||It’s a small and quiet hotel, so if you’re looking for raucous nightlife then this is not for you, if however, you want a slice of paradise with staff that are friendly and make you feel totally taken care of, then I can’t recommend it enough.

SATP is a Calming and Tranquil Resort, no kids. Beautiful setting and lush greenery and trees. Sat in Balcony for morning coffee and many different birds come by.|From the moment we arrived to the time we left all the staff was welcoming, friendly and gracious.|Buffet breakfast was great. We enjoyed the New Year Eve Party including BBQ'ed lobster.|Will come back here .

This place was magical. Visited in March 2024. It was so beautiful and so peaceful. Yes, it is 1.5hr away from the airport so be prepared for a bit of travel but once you get there you can just relax. Upon arrival, during our check in process we were served with a delicious drink, it was non alcoholic and so refreshing! The beach is a short walk across the street (they have their own crossing guards). Private beach area for only guests with a restaurant/ bar on the beach so they can serve you. They put out chairs specifically for you and where you want to sit. There is no lack of shade, which is great. Food throughout the resort was good, no complaints, but we aren't picky. This is not a party kind of resort, very laid back. Perfect for the folks that are just looking to rest and relax. Room was very well air conditioned and shower was great after a day at the beach. We'll be back many many more times!

At arrival it felt like we were being welcomed home and knew we would be returning. |This is a small resort which translated into amazing service and experience with admittedly less options; it was exactly what we were looking for. ||The garden tour with Lenford was fun and educational. He is a walking encyclopedia and a genuinely loves "his" gardens. ||There is ample shade at the beach, which is a truly pleasant and possibly healing stroll. There was a tour of travel agents one day, we started talking to one who asked about the resort. |She mentioned the beach bathrooms were cleaner then most resort lobby bathrooms. Kirk, Jason, and Kevon provided unparalleled beach service! Food and drinks were readily available and delicious, and the beach was kept clean. ||Breakfast is a buffet. We were 2 of 60 guests so our choices were limited and delicious. The egg station is more then an omelet station. ||Like other resorts the bathroom in our room could benefit from some additional privacy. Our room had a new safe so no key to carry around, housecoats, slippers, coffee and tea, an umbrella, so many pillows, wonderful temperature control and a very comfortable bed.||Dinner was yet another highlight! The Chefs Showcase was an intimate night. Delicious food, few guests, beautiful surroundings. Each night at the buffet is a different theme. We booked our return trip back to ensure we had 2 nights at the Saturday Night seafood buffet. OMG, it was amazing. |Patrina, Lorion, Nadine, Claudiette, Tanisha, Toni-Ann, Colene, and Joline ensured everything else was perfect from room to coffee to meals.
