This 20-mile-long Utah National Park Has the World’s Largest Hoodoo Collection—and It’s Part of the Mighty Five

"Also near the park’s central area, this campground closes in winter but otherwise offers convenient access to Bryce Amphitheater, the lodge, and the visitor center, with reservations available online." - Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel is a writer with more than eight years of experience editing and writing for both brands and online publications—with a particular focus on travel, fashion, and lifestyle. Such a beautiful place. Clean, peaceful. Camp hosts were very pleasant and chatted with us about park. Has a public restroom that was clean and trash disposal as well as propane tank disposal. Free RV dump is across street and very well maintained. Free park shuttle is also at entrance to camp. Woke up one morning and 2 mule deer with their 3 babies were grazing and bedded down for a while. Fun to watch. Site has a panic table and fire ring. Only down side is it was super hard to park 25 foot trailer with full size truck. Not alot of wiggle room to back in to narrow sites. Wouldn't recommend for trailer much larger than that. Would come here again!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Beautiful campground! The sites are spacious with plenty of room, and the atmosphere is very quiet and pleasant. The facilities are clean and well maintained. I especially want to highlight the staff – extremely friendly and always helpful. You immediately feel welcome here. Highly recommended!

Location is great; however, restrooms were undersized and lacked showers. No soap in restrooms. Given quantity of visitors park is way undersized facility wise to accommodate guests. Tokens can be purchased at general store for timed showers. Parking is difficult. Again, park has feeling of being overrun w/visitors and takes away from overall experience. Beautiful place, but dated/under-sized facilities and overpopulation negatively influences experience.

Great Campground very clean restrooms and nice campsites with trees, tables and firebowl. Was very quiet the whole time. We booked it via recreation.gov application and found one easily on the same day though I could imagine that it might be fuller in July and august. Location is great super close to everything

Beautiful campground amongst ponderosa pines. Super close and bikeable to the major sights along the Bryce Canyon Amphitheater area by way of the asphalt biking/walking shared use path. There are flush toilets and sinks with running water in multi stall, separate guys/gals bathrooms. Coin showers located in the nearby general store ($3 for 8 mins). Whatever you do... Do not reserve a camping spot adjacent to the bathrooms unless you do want bright light beaming into your tent all night long. There's no reason for these bathrooms to have such bright lights. It did impede on our stargazing, unfortunately.

Pros: Quiet, large campsite, in the trees, walking distance to sunset point. Clean restrooms. Cons: My camp pad wasn’t leveled. Trash only at entrance. Long walk to the dumpster. Campsite awkwardly layout. My table and fire pit was right next to the next camps parking space. They used my table thinking it was theirs. Even the restrooms are awkwardly placed. They have fence in the way so I have to walk in a circle to get to it. NPS employees will snoop around your campsite. Overall, It’s fine if you’re looking for a place to stay.

This campground is in the heart of Bryce Canyon. It's a wonderful location, close to all the hiking areas and scenic viewpoints. The bathrooms were clean and it has picnic tables and fire pits in most camp areas. I do wish the campground hosts were a little less strict about certain things (like hammocks) but I understand why they have to be, especially in a national park. If the campground is full, some of the tents seemed to be really close together but that's also what you get with a campground like this.

Spacious Campsites with trees and deer. Sites are not parking lot sites. No hookups, daily host patrols to ensure peace, rules, compliance, and nature preservation. There are toilets, no showers at Sunset, a centralized water faucet for containers only. Park Trolly pickup at entrance. Direct access to Rim, Sunrise, Sunset, Navajo and Wall Street trails on opposite side of road near Lodge. Good for 2-3 days of hikes. Hoodoo galore! The dump station is located on the very south end of the North Campgrounds. Potable water spigot was available on my visit.

Yelp
When camping you can't be picky. Well you can, but if you are that kind of person I'm not sure what to tell you. Perhaps, book at the lodge just around the corner? If you have a light weight trailer around say a 16 footer, van, or simply tent camping you have little to worry about. Anything bigger, you must prepare to maneuver backing up in very tight space. The sites itself aren't too bad. It's the loop road and trees that can be challenging. I did see one pull through spot and there's possibly more but not much. Another thing to keep in mind are the fleas. If you have dogs, bring repellent. Notice posted warned fleas may carry diseases and may harm other animals or even cause death. Our site (A219) was surrounded by trees. Our solar panel was able to charge, but not sufficiently. It includes a firepit and a bench table. I don't recommend anything larger than a 22 foot trailer. We barely had any room to park my truck because parking on gravel is forbidden. Restrooms are heated during the cold hours. When I say cold, it's freezing cold. We stayed here on the first week of October of 2020. The sun started to heat our trailer by 2 to 3 PM. Overall, I enjoyed our stay. We very close to the Peek-a-boo and Navajo Trail. That was a plus. Our camp host was mellow and most of our neighbors were polite and respectful. However, I've seen a few who were the opposite. It's camping so I didn't let it ruin my experience. Also a warning. Dump station is not in this campground but potable water available at the restrooms. You can't directly connect a hose to your trailer because it is just too far from the road. Dump station is located near Sunrise Point where potable water is available. Ask the host or ranger if you have troubles finding it.

Yelp
Beautiful location to camp. The only concern is you have to share the restroom with others and you not allowed to bring your own shower tent. In my opinion it's a safety hazard because we fresh out a pandemic shut down but that's another topic for another time hehe....

Yelp
This place has Small R.V. spots, just long enough for specified length, the paved area is just wide enough to park and wont have room to pop out awning. ( if you have a trailer it wont fit.) The sites do have a picnic table, fire pits per site, and public restrooms at the campground. Overall its alright and anout a 8 min walk to the Shuttle.

Yelp
Other than this campground is perfect, I can't rave enough. It's in the middle of a beautiful forest and we loved every moment. Campsites were spacious and our neighbors weren't close by. It's a walk across the street to the Bryce amphitheater and gorgeous views. Restrooms are close by and clean. There's even an extra room where you can rinse your pots and pans (and get hot water!) or wash your hair. Friendly camp host and ranger. A+!

Yelp
We camped here 3 nights in July, and had an amazing time. We were in the C loop, we had campsite #293, and our friends were in #294. This loop is tent only, no trailers or generators. These are on a 1st come basis, no reservations, and it seemed like everyday, as 1 campsite emptied, there was someone popping right in. (North Campgrounds Does have sites you can reserve in advance) It cost $20 a night, and in this loop, the restrooms were centrally located. No showers, but flush toilets, and they were very clean. The restroom area also had a 2x sunk for washing dishes! The Campground Hosts, were friendly & helpful, and either they or a Park Ranger seemed to be driving by quite often. Sunset point was a short walk away, and the Park Shuttle has a stop right at the campground entrance. The Shuttle goes all over from Bryce City to one if the last lookout/ hiking areas. Camping for 3 days, we had great neighbors & no issues with anyone breaking the 10pm quiet time. Deer seemed to walk by often from the campsites across the road from us. Highly recommend! (Would be an easy 5 stars if there were showers available closer than 1.5 miles away.)

Bathroom Connoisseur M.

Yelp
Bathroom: 5 Campground: 4 The bathroom was surprisingly clean. They clean it twice a day and the people are respectful enough to keep it clean. I'm even surprised a campground has plumbing. Expected a hole with flies and poop on the floor but I found a bathroom cleaner than some people's residence bathrooms. 5/5 would camp again. Only downside is the toilet paper is drier than california's wildfires but if you're camping, a dirty booty is an essential part of going camping. Campground is good. Minimum rocks, people are around you however so it feels like more of a tribe than isolation. Firepit is nice. Lots of ants though. Got bitten over 25 times.

Yelp
I love this campground!! Plenty of beautiful trees for shade and lots of deer roaming about. The stars are so bright at night! We got a spot in the B Loop. Sites were clean and well maintained. Bathrooms were nearby, which were also very clean. It was $20 / night for a tent sight. We planned our trip about 6 months ahead, so I was able to get one of the reservations spots. It did look like though there was a good amount first-come, first serve sites available in the mornings. For showers, you'll need to drive to the park's general store. It's like $5 for 7-8 minutes. Bring a hammock! Bring bug repellant! There were a lot of little nats at night.

Yelp
Of all the National Park campsites I've been to, this one was the cleanest and most well-kept. It seems that whoever is charged with the care of the campsites cleans out the fire pit after each guest has left They have bathrooms with running water and heated hand driers and flushing toilets. Of course, most national parks have this, but these were immaculately clean. Also, love that I was able to reserve and pay for a site online. Some parks don't let you do that and you find yourself up poop creek without a paddle when every single campsite in the park is taken (Grand Teton National Park). My wife and will definitely go back here. Also, the price is $20/night, but we got 50% off because of our annual National Park pass.

Yelp
I have never before encountered a campground that seems to care so little about their guests. We got yelled (after they blocked us in our spot to leave for dinner) at for having our tents too far from the fire place and left a warning despite saying we'd take care of it after we left for dinner. This rule was not explained to us when checking in. The site itself had tire marks throughout it that we later found out what from at caterpillar truck driving in and out of it. It also had an enormous amount of rocks (small and large) that made it impossible to find a tent spot within their ridiculous rule of within 20 ft. We also experienced a rather rude cashier at one of the stores who threw the money on the counter after returning a shower token. Then later on the same gentleman told us we had to wait or come back for fire wood because he wasn't going to be bothered to go get it while the other cashier was on break. Last straw was we were by a water faucet and an older gentleman came by in a speedo to bathe by our site using the water faucet everyone else uses to fill up their bottles. I would stay away from this campground if you're using a tent. Go elsewhere if you want a stress free visit.

Yelp
Plenty of campsites available on a first come first serve basis during the summer before noon. The temperature was in the 70s at night in the August. $15 for a campsite, showers available for a fee at the General Store within the park.( $5 for 8 minutes, buy the tokens at the General Store.) Good view of the stars at night. I was disappointed that a group of ADHD kids kept yelling and using their outside voice until 11:30pm without a ranger or the campground host telling them to shut up.

Yelp
Beautiful campground. Lots of trees and mostly level parking for our camper. It's right across the road from Bryce so it's an awesome place to stay as you can walk to see the sights and hike the trails. It's a short walk to the Lodge where there's a nice gift shop and restaurant. We stayed in Loop A as our truck/camper combo is over the 20 ft required for the less expensive loops. I forgot my checkbook and didn't have change so paid $40 instead of $30 for the first night but the gift shop gave me exact change for the 2nd night in case we decided to stay longer. The best part of the campground were the hosts. The campground and bathrooms were very clean. We picked an unleveled camp spot at first and had already paid but my husband asked if we could move to one better suited to our camper and it was no problem. And then a youth group from France came in with about 15 teenagers. Their group camp spot was under construction. We worried the noise would be too much. The camp hosts found us an alternative spot even though the campground was full and it was very quiet all night. They were building a new bathroom so during the day it was noisy but we were hiking and not there anyway. Once that's done this will be an ideal spot to stay when visiting Bryce. We had no reservation but were lucky to get there early. It was sold out by afternoon on the Tuesday we stayed.
