Sunset Cove

In my 10+ years of traveling around the Island Park/Portsmouth area, I had never really taken the time to check out many of the businesses that dot this beachy parcel of northern Aquidneck Island land. Yet this part of Rhode Island had a distinct flavor from it's neighboring communities. If this has been your experience, if Island Park is merely a pretty way to drive through to get to Newport, I implore you to reconsider. And when you do, please consider starting your experience at Sunset Cove. Depending on the day, you may find a few cars parked outside. If you're lucky enough to drive by at night and cars are there, it's probably because of a local show. I'd recommend grabbing a quiet morning coffee and sitting out on the expansive back deck to see just how much fun an outdoor show would be there. The menu is just right! They serve coffee in all of it's traditional American styles. They have a small and large iced coffee size but only one size for their nitro cold brew. There is a variety of baked goods, and a standard breakfast menu. The menu did not mention of gluten-free options, but they do have gluten-free bread and bagels available. That was a real treat! Sunset Cove is aptly named! There were remote workers there doing their laptop thing, but it didn't seem crowded with people. I would recommend going and trying your best to take in the gentle views and the blissful nature that is Island Park!

Really charming cafe on the water in Portsmouth. My friend recommended it for our long over due catch-up on life get together. I'm so glad she did. The cafe is super clean & you notice it immediately when you walk in, this place sparkles. You can tell the owner/employees take pride in where they work & what they do. Its a counter service place so a little difficult to try to take it all in & try to decide while the staff is standing there waiting.. Wish they had a handheld menu that you could sitsown with & look & decide in a more relaxed mode. Don't misunderstand. The staff DOES NOT RUSH YOU , but if you are a person who is conscious about others time you feel some pressure. My friend & I both ordered yogurt parfaits, she had bottles water & I had a yummy iced latte. We enjoyed our selections as we talked & talked catching up on almost 20 yes. Looking forward to returning when the weather warms up to be able to enjoy the outside & the yummy selections they have to offer then. Spring has to come eventually, right?

Stopped by Sunset Cove for the first time with the intention of trying the Coyote Coffee. Went with a large. Thought it was okay. Very sweet, no sugar or additions required. It is a little on the pricey side.

Great location and service. Had an outstanding salted caramel cake and ginger molasses cookie work our coffees. The back is so beautiful next to the water. Loved coming back. 2 years was too long.

Enjoy a great cup of coffee in a relaxing, friendly and beautiful setting. You can grab a sandwich, pastry or drink to enjoy inside or on the lawn overlooking the water.

This place is absolutely awesome. My lady and I stayed at an Airbnb a few minutes away and headed over for breakfast one day… we couldn’t resist not going back everyday. Inside was nice and outside was even better. There was some warmth over the weekend so we definitely took full advantage of going outside. The food and coffee here was also extremely delicious. Their turkey club is spot on & their almond croissant, whatever they put in there is incredible! It was so crunchy but soft and delicious. I couldn’t not recommend this spot enough. Definitely don’t forget to grab that almond croissant before it sells out!

Nice coffee shop and other offerings. Tried a seasonal coffee and it was very good. Also a sausage egg and cheese sandwich. On sourdough. It was great. Got it all to go but it looks like a very nice place to hang out and listen to jazz and have a coffee in the morning. Nice outdoor seating area as well. They do have an ice cream shop to and sometime I'll stop by and give that a try.

Nice coffee shop with a beautiful view. Lots of live entertainment. Coyote Coffee is very good - a bit on the pricey side. The baked goods and food are excellent. Plenty of tables and chairs - is a nice place to eat in or take-out. Service is good. Highly recommend.

Sunset Cove is a little gem of gold! I've been a few times for outdoor concerts - the staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly! They make sure everyone has a great time, without being pushy. . I highly recommend Sunset Cove.

They have done a wonderful job with this place. Great assortment of baked goods, sandwiches and the like. Cocktail menu with a beach vibe and loads of seating outside to take in the water views while listening to some live music. You can bring your own chairs too.

This is such a hidden gem along the Portsmouth waterfront! The interior is beautifully renovated with lots of seating, and the outdoor area is expansive with patio seating, bar seating and lawn space for customers to set up their own chairs or blankets. It's also dog friendly so you can bring your whole family to enjoy a lovely day on the water, and their live music outdoors. All the staff were so friendly and helpful, and I loved how fun the bar atmosphere felt. The food and drinks were great - highly recommend the Bubbles Up drinks because they spray a bubble machine when you order!!

Was not a good experience on July 3rd. My friend and I ordered around noon. Took the beeper and waited outside at table. Friend came back with her meal and my drink - not sandwich. She said there was no sandwich. I went to counter. They were just cooking it kind of saying I did not order it. I did NOT pay $9.27 for a small ice tea. Anyhow the grill cheese was not hot and very flat. I did not eat it. Friend did not like her roast beef sandwich and did not eat it all. And just the day before another friend had breakfast and was not impressed with her Chia Tea and breakfast sandwich. Wish I had listened to her.

Friendly staff, clean inside, and beautiful outside patio area! Had a good breakfast and coffee drink here, but wouldn't recommend the lobster roll. It was odd and on a black bun with avocado? 3 stars just because of the weird lobster roll, otherwise 5. Besides that I would recommend for breakfast with views!

Stopped in here twice in two days. First time was when on a bicycle ride. They were very accommodating and helpful. Second time was the next day as we were leaving RI and grabbed a quick breakfast. Food was absolutely delicious and affordable. Love the beach theme decor. Would love to come back in the summer

This has got to be one of the cutest coffee shops I've been to and I've been to quite a bit! I absolutely love the positive vibes from all the employees and even hearing their interactions with some of their regulars told me all I needed to know about this lovely little spot. I didn't catch his name but the gentlemen at the front counter was great! He was quick and efficient and even running orders out to people in between taking customers orders. Tons of indoor seating available but my favorite part is the expansive outdoor seating. The view is wonderful! It was just the perfect way to start my day. The cranberry/orange muffin was delicious! Not too dry, yet not too moist - just perfect. I also had a hot vanilla latte which hit the spot. If I lived nearby, I'd make it a weekly habit to jump start my weekend at this wonderful establishment!

This used to be Thriving Tree Cafe until recently. It was sold to a new owner. The newly named "Sunset Cove" has a revamped menu, more modern inside seating area, and different hours. They market themselves as "Coffee, Baked Goods, Cocktails, and Live Music." I was making a quick visit to check out the new place as I had been to breakfast at Thriving Tree many times. I tried an iced dragonfruit elderflower iced refresher. It was somewhat underwhelming and I likely wouldn't order again. Service was fast though I did see lots of folks waiting for food to be served. The menu options are limited food-wise for breakfast so I opted not to get anything. I can see this being a great place for music on a sunny day. There is a tiki bar out back and ample outdoor lawn furniture for seating. Pets are allowed in the back / on the lawn but not inside. I'd like to return for one of the nights of live music.

Food was excellent, great service and the ambience was amazing with the life music outside sitting and their new beer just great

We've now been a few times. In the evening and for breakfast. The dinner menu is sandwiches so it's limited but they are really good. The breakfast sandwiches are the best around. Real eggs, fried perfectly with a generous portion of ham or bacon. We had one on a bagel and another on an English muffin. Both were great. There's plenty of room inside and outside on the water. It's worth the drive to find it!

Came in not sure what to expect and was blown away! The gal at the counter was super sweet and helpful. Recently hooked on non dairy options, found out that they have a variety of creamers, syrups and even offer decaf espresso! There were a few bakery options and a made to order menu. With a variety of seating from in doors to outside, all with a gorgeous view overlooking the water, there is a spot for everyone!

Super friendly, excellent breakfast and salads, beautiful lawn and seating out back with water views, and very good live music. Such a nice place to catch a bite and chill on a sunny day. Our coffees were so tasty. Some beautiful hawks graced us with their presence, too.

$15 dollars for a drink in a plastic cup. Incommunicado, liquor to juice mix totally off. If I'm a twenty something and I want the alcohol, than ok. If you want a nicely prepared cocktail this isn't for you or us. Not a 4.5 star recommendation. My opinion, 2.5 stars.

This place is great. The service is fun and efficient. I've not tried the food trucks, but they seem to do the job. The ice cream and baked goods are the bees knees. The live music has been as awesome as the view. So you say, why 4 stars not 5? Simple..... the drinks are very expensive. $28 for a canned beer and a pina colada, is a bit steep.

We greatly enjoyed this venue. It was lovely . We d I d not eat here because we had eaten at a restaurant a few blocks away.

It's a cute spot and convenient when I'm in town at client's but two small so-so margs for $28 is insanity to me. Never again. The second time I went was for breakfast. The pistachio muffin was satisfactory but could have used more pistachios and pistachio flavor. I'd certainly come back for the specialty coffee called Coyote Coffee, as it was a tasty sweet treat with a caffeine kick but that's probably it... Much better local options near by that the quality reflects the prices IMO.

Lovely place. Great muffins and coffee. Sit outside in the back of cafe and enjoy the serene water view.

The food is great, the place is fabulous, clean and welcoming. The staff are always willing to go the extra mile - especially making coffee.

Everything you want in a Cafe! Cheerful, kind service, lots of little nooks to sit inside, a fantastic water view if sitting outside and great food and drinks. Plan to absolutely become a regular!

We stopped by this afternoon for a light cup of coffee and some baked goods. It's a beautiful interior, Lively and bright, and we could see the setup outside for afternoon cocktails. All we had was the coffee, and it was terrific. Lovely place.

This place is all about the view. It's a great place to sit and relax. It's clean and the food is ok. Their drinks though are priced higher than anywhere else I've been. Almost $30 for a can of beer and a mixed drink is crazy! If they came down on those a bit I might go there more often.
