We were very happy with this affordable waterfront apartment, located conveniently close to town and all services. It was a 10 min walk or 3 min bike ride to the supermarket, restaurants, etc. There is no beach, but you can jump in right off the dock out front. We had an upstairs unit with a large deck overlooking the bay – really magical, especially at night. The apartment was spacious, bright, and airy, with the large living area opening up to the waterfront deck. The kitchen was basic but usable and the bedroom was comfortable with AC. The Wifi internet worked great. The interior ocean themed colors and décor were pleasant. There was a bike rental place just a couple 100m away so we rented bikes there for the duration of our stay – very useful for getting all around the island, and especially just down the road to the markets and restos. No, it’s not your traditional Bora Bora beach bungalow, but very nice, comfortable and economically priced, especially as the price of most accommodation in Bora Bora was out of our reach. Our hostess, Hinano, was very friendly and helpful, providing a free pick-up and drop-off from the ferry terminal. Overall we had an excellent stay and would definitely recommend this place to other travelers. Loved it!

I had a wonderful stay at the Sunset Hill Lodge. Gerard is a very friendly, helpful and caring host and made me feel at home right away. I stayed in the upper apartment right at the waterfront with a stunning sunset view that I will not forget. The apartment was spacious, super clean, comfortable and the kitchen was equipped with everything you need. The terrace was just incredible. There is a bit of boat traffic because the gas station is right next to the house but I didn't mind that. Bikes could be rented for little money by friends of the owner. You could take a swim in the lagoon anytime right in front of your door. The next supermarket is just 15min by foot or 5mins by bike away, as well as the center of Vaitape. To get to Matira beach it's quiet far by bike in the sun but absolutely doable if you go early in the morning, otherwise take a car, taxi and you will be there in 15mins. I absolutely recommend to stay here and enjoy the beautiful island of Bora Bora.

What an amazing place to stay! Gerard was very friendly and welcoming. The apartament is large, very spacious and fully equipped. Its very private and quiet. The apartment was cool at night so we could sleep perfectly fine. It also has an AC which we didnt need to use. The shower was great. Hot water came out right away and with very good pressure. The whole place is super clean. I wish we had stayed longer here. A supermarket online 100 meters away. Gerard also provided free transfer to Matira beach and the AirPort. Great place to stay!.

We stayed 7 nights and were sad to leave. We loved everything about this place. BIG place with separate bedroom, bathroom and kitchen and great wifi. I really loved the outdoor shower for after swimming in the ocean or just to cool off in. We were steps from their dock and the ocean. Moea took great care of us by allowing us to borrow snorkeling masks for free and even did a load of laundry for us free. She drove us to and picked us up from a free hike to the top of a mountain that had 360 degree views of BB. We got to know Gerard as he goes for his daily ocean swim and he was very friendly and fun to talk to. The gas station is right next door (but screened off with concrete wall) for any supplies we might need. They both go out of their way to take great care of you. Highly recommend!!! 5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We booked at Sunset Hill Lodge for our first and the last night in Bora-Bora. First night, we were at the backside, hillside. The room was small, very badly insulated and we were running of hot water. We came across the owner when we check-in and out but we couldn't get any -Bonjour- or -hello- from him (Mr. Gérald). We were invisible to him! Our lastnight, we stayed at the beach part. The room was much larger and more comfortable but still very badly insulated. In the morning, The cleaning lady came at 10am at check-out time. We were all packed and kindly asked her if we could stay a bit longer (until she finishes to clean the next door) as my son (6years old) had fever and I just gave him some medicin. 30minutes later Gérard came in, without any greatings -no Hello- and started argue with us !! It was only 10.30am and the cleaning lady was still cleaning next door; and All our bags were already packed in front of the door. We tried to explain but he didn't want to listen. He was not only UNPLEASANT but also EXTREMELY RUDE! It is such a pitty that we leave this beautiful island with a negative image because of this person. Please do not waste your money in that place. TO AVOID ABSOLUTELY ! Ps: Rooms are clean.

Great communication, Gerard is very helpful in answering all the logistic questions about Bora Bora. The room is newly remodeled, it has everything you need for a comfortable stay. We love the DIY rain shower! The property is a 10 minutes walk to Vaitape, it’s so nice of Gerard to offer pickup and drop off to the ferry. He also let us use his bathroom to take a shower after we got back from snorkel before our flight!
