Sunset Kendwa

We had a really enjoyable stay here. The location is beautiful — right on the beach with those classic Kendwa sunsets you end up planning your evening around whether you meant to or not. Service was friendly and helpful throughout, and the atmosphere is relaxed rather than formal, which suits a beach holiday perfectly. Rooms were comfortable and clean, and everything felt safe and easy to navigate. Worth noting for families: it’s very kid-friendly if you book the beach rooms close to the pool area. That setup makes life much easier because the kids can swim and play while the adults can still keep an eye on them… and also keep an eye on their cocktails at the same time. The evening dinners were a highlight. You can choose between the buffet or à la carte, and both were consistently good with plenty of variety, so you don’t feel like you’re eating the same thing every night. Good breakfasts, great swimming beach and a very relaxed vibe overall. We would happily come back.

The hotel has one of the best locations on the island truly beautiful views, a great beach. Unfortunately, this makes the experience even more disappointing, because the service and especially the food quality are completely unacceptable. During my stay, I suffered from severe food poisoning. It was so serious that I lost consciousness, fell, hit the floor hard, and broke my nose. This was a real medical emergency, not mild discomfort. I want to clarify this in advance, as people often assume otherwise: I do not drink alcohol at all not even a drop, and I had no alcohol before this incident. The only food I ate at the hotel was seafood with rice. I was not the only one affected several of my friends also became seriously unwell after eating at the hotel. It is very clear that food safety and hygiene are not properly controlled here. To summarize: • Yes, the hotel is worth considering only because of its excellent location. • However, I strongly do not recommend eating at the hotel. • For your own health and safety, it is much better to eat elsewhere.

Was afraid about some bad reviews, but the hotel is really nice and good! The rooms were nice, the air conditioning worked. Sometimes the power went out, but the hotel had a generator. The team was nice and responsive, everything you need is in the room. We were in the farthest room from the sea, but it was less than 3 minutes to walk to the sea!! Also very green territory, and room cleaning was everyday.

The staff is extremely kind, friendly, and always smiling. The hotel and the rooms are beautiful, very comfortable, and exceptionally clean. Everything was perfect during our stay. I truly enjoyed my time here and would highly recommend this hotel to everyone.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect lunch spot with an amazing beach vibe We had a great lunch experience at Sunset Kenva during the daytime. The atmosphere is chilled - sitting on the big, comfortable couches with the ocean right in front of you instantly puts you into holiday mode. The service was excellent, very friendly and attentive, and the menu is really good with tasty, well-prepared food. Having the pool directly in front of you on the beach makes the whole place feel special and luxurious without being pretentious. A perfect spot to relax, enjoy great food, and spend a beautiful day by the ocean. Highly recommended for lunch or a long, lazy afternoon in Nungwi. 🌊☀️

Top place. We had an amazing time on the beach hear. Huge space for sunbeds with the palms behind. Big beach with crystal water. Good restaurant with one of the best meals we had on whole Zanzibar.

Really nice beach with a stunning view – the kind of place where you suddenly forget what time it is. Sunbeds can be arranged with the staff, just make sure to do it a day in advance, otherwise you might end up practicing towel-yoga on the sand. The bar has a great selection: fresh-squeezed juices, beers from all over the world, and of course the classic cocktails (yes, they do the job very well). The restaurant nearby offers a lot of food options, but the service is on “island time”, so order before hunger turns into drama. We didn’t stay at the hotel, so I can’t say anything about the rooms or the staff working there. In the end, the beach view is absolutely stunning and totally worth it. 🌅🍹

Very disappointing though immense potential. The food at the restaurant and location is about the only great things about this resort. The rooms are dreary at best, air conditioning barely works (and is definitely a necessity in the Zanzibar heat). The front reception staff are nonchalant worst experienced compared to all other hotels we stayed at in Zanzibar. You are hassled off the loungers before the sun has even set (literally sunset is the point of this location). All in all I would recommend staying elsewhere and perhaps just dinning once or twice.
