The hotel's expansive property, featuring a decentralized layout of facilities and buildings, offers a degree of privacy. While our group accommodation was distributed across various buildings, presenting some logistical challenges, this did not detract from the overall experience. The hotel's aesthetic appeal is undeniable, with stunning beach views. Accessing the beach involves descending stairs from higher levels, followed by a walk through a picturesque landscape of sand, palm trees, and other vegetation, culminating in a truly breathtaking vista. The dining experience was highly satisfactory, with delicious cuisine and exceptional service. The staff demonstrated professionalism, cultural awareness, and a genuine commitment to guest satisfaction. The beach is arguably one of the finest in Zanzibar, particularly at sunset, a spectacle that should not be missed. Cleanliness standards are consistently maintained. Our primary concern relates to the inconsistent internet connectivity, which may be unreliable or unavailable in certain areas.

We had a great stay at this resort in Zanzibar! The service was excellent — the staff were always friendly and helpful. Housekeeping cleaned our room daily, keeping everything fresh and tidy. The food at the resort’s restaurant was definitely among the best in the area. We tried a few places nearby, but always came back to eat here. Prices were also quite reasonable considering the quality. A special shoutout to the cocktail master at the beach bar — the drinks were fantastic, and the vibe there was perfect for relaxing by the ocean. The only downside was our room — it had a strong damp smell and felt very humid, which made it a bit uncomfortable at times. With some improvement in ventilation, the experience would be flawless. Overall, highly recommended for a relaxing getaway in Zanzibar!

I stayed for two nights at Sunset Kendwa. The check in and check out process with smooth. Everyone was friendly. My room was spacious and clean. I've been to the restaurant several times. A bit pricey in my opinion but there's no where else to go. Breakfast was okay.

I really tried to be positive about this place. And in all honesty, location is great and the swimming pool is nice. We also had a great lunch here once. However, staff is not service oriented and by times very rude. Prepare to wait a long time for whatever you order. We were once asked to pay before we had dinner and several times plates and cups were taken away before we were finished. I think management has a job to do here.

Strange place, we came here for the day where you pay $10pp for entry to the beach/sun beds area. Be warned, lots of strange rules… Despite paying for sun beds. The only way to get a towel is to pay to separately use the pool…or be a guest…not sure why. Everyone in the pool being asked their room number. You can order food on the beach, but then get told you need to leave the beach to eat it. Except if it’s pizza, then it’s allowed. You can use the sun beds, but you can’t use them in the sun, they need to stay under the shelters, we saw people being told off repeatedly for shifting them out from under the shadows. Everything is advertised in US dollars. But they don’t have US dollars change, so ask you to pay in local currency. Will go elsewhere from now on where things make sense. Someone needs to do a complete refresh on how this place is run.

Services significantly below standards Some rooms need a deep refresh, regular power cuts, we had some animals (probably rats or equivalent) making holes in the ceiling at night… happy hour at bar not respected, etc. Staff kind and helpful most of the time. Conclusion: There is a clear potential since the localisation is excellent, but the overall experience was not good. I do not recommend.

We went to have lunch at the restaurant here. The food looked good but the taste not so much. The seafood was tasteless and the tartar sauce was actually a tomato sauce. The problem is that I got food poisoning so I am not sure if it was a one time thing here or it happened to others as well. I wouldn’t recommend it. I gave two stars only for the location and nice view of the sea.

A nice hotel with a great beachfront location, and a fairly good breakfast. Very overpriced drinks, bring your own. Great staff in general, clean, green gardens above the beach, and lovely swimming pool at the beach. The balcony door to our room was warped and didn’t close properly, and the bathroom was a little musty but the bedroom was huge with a comfortable bed.
