Rendezvous Bay is undeniably one of the most stunning beaches in Anguilla—powdery white sand, crystal-clear water, and a peaceful vibe that’s hard to beat. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end for Sunshine Shack (sometimes called Garvey’s or SunShine Shack).
From the moment we arrived, the experience was disappointing. There was a noticeable pile of trash right near the entrance, which set a poor tone immediately.
The bathrooms were in deplorable condition—filthy, poorly maintained, and downright disgusting. For a beach spot charging premium prices, basic cleanliness should be a given.
The service was lackluster at best—slow, inattentive, and unfriendly. The food was below average: nothing special, overly basic, and certainly not worth the ridiculously high prices (we’re talking resort-level costs for very mediocre BBQ and sides).
To top it off, the loud reggae music was blasting constantly at ear-splitting volumes, making it impossible to relax or have a conversation. If you’re looking for “island vibes,” this felt more like an assault on the senses than anything enjoyable.
I truly don’t understand the rave reviews this place gets. The only thing carrying it is the incredible location on that gorgeous beach—if it were anywhere else, it wouldn’t survive. We’ve had much better experiences at spots in Meads Bay, where the service is attentive, the food is high-quality, and the overall value feels fair even at similar (or higher) prices.
In comparison, Sunshine Shack charges a premium but delivers far less in every category.
Save your money and head elsewhere on the island for a beach day. The natural beauty of Rendezvous Bay is worth visiting, but skip this shack. Highly disappointing overall.
