Really cute cabins and a nice location on the Icefield Parkway. We booked this as a stay after doing the Columbia Icefield activity and am pleased with how it worked out. Staying here gave us a fresh start on the Icefield Parkway instead of driving to Jasper. Also enjoy that Sunwapta Falls is so close. Also the restaurant was excellent!! Only reason I’m not giving 5 circles is there is no cell or wifi except in the restaurant and main building and the cabins are kind of small. Lots of positives to this location!!

We are spending five nights here, viewing the gorgeous area. Very clean, comfortable rooms, very quiet, and great breakfast included. The customer service is amazing. We sit outside every evening and watch the sunset on the mountains. I highly recommend staying here over staying in Jasper. We travel the world extensively and been to over 50 countries, so I’m speaking from experience.

Sumwapta Rocky Mountain Inn is 40 minutes south of Jasper and walking distance to the Falls. Surrounded by tall pine trees and mountains. Some room had mountains views from there decks. Dining is available and there is a better than average continental breakfast. Staff was top notch. Gift shop was nice and had unusual items. My kids were hoping for a better selection of sweatshirts. The room was cute and clean. Beds were comfortable. The bathroom was small and sink is outside of the shower area. This can be good and bad. I wish the dinner menu was more family friendly. We are not into fancy food and I’m not a fan of bison. Overall we were very happy and would highly recommend this beautiful spot.

I loved this place! We had our own little cottage with a porch. The room was cozy and being able to sit outside and get some fresh air was nice. Please note: there is no cell service here and the wifi is dodgy. It’s all part of the charm. The breakfast was really great.

Stayed here for one night while travelling along the parkway from Lake Louise to Jasper. For what we paid, this place was pretty disappointing but it is one of the few options available on the parkway. Staff at check in was great. Room (cabin king) was clean but dated. Bathroom had no fan, walls in the bathroom were a little mouldy and the door wouldn’t stay open. Dinner at the restaurant was quite good given location but odd that we had to get up to order at the counter. Also not cheap. Breakfast buffet was the worst I’ve had at a hotel in recent memory. If doing again I’d drive the 45 minutes and stay in Jasper - far better lodging and dining options there for what we paid.

Great location and friendly team on the icefields parkway, although a little expensive for what you get but options limited other than going as far as Jasper. We had a semi-detached cabin with small deck area which would have been great had the weather of been better. Cabin was a little dated (especially bathroom) but the team provided rollaway bed for a small charge to stop the kids having to share. Restaurant a little expensive but good options and they use local produce, however simple options for older kids a little limited. Breakfast included which had some hot options and as well as usual continental fayre. Location was our main reason for choosing Sunwapta, around halfway between Lake Louise and Jasper and you can hike to the falls from the lodge. Reception team were super helpful and even let us borrow bear spray for our hike.

I enjoyed my stay here. Room was comfy and dinner was great. Being close to the falls was great too, made it easy to spend a bunch of time there. As great as the location is, there was basically no cell service. I did manage to get 1 text through but was hard to communicate with another party coming through that I was hoping to meet.

Sunwapta Falls Rocky Mountain Lodge is an ideal getaway for families who want to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the Canadian Rockies without the distractions of city life. The lodge offers a perfect balance between rustic charm and comfort, with cozy cabin accommodations that make kids feel like they're on a real mountain adventure. Its location—right on the Icefields Parkway and just steps from Sunwapta Falls—means you're never far from unforgettable experiences like hiking, wildlife viewing, and glacier exploration. What truly sets it apart is how warm, welcoming, and family-focused the atmosphere is. The staff were incredibly friendly—always smiling, always ready to help, and genuinely interested in making our stay enjoyable. Whether it was giving us tips for family-friendly hikes, helping with gear, or just chatting with the kids, they made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Another highlight for our kids was the Neighborhood Friends Desk in the main lodge, where they could borrow games, books, and puzzles. It gave them something fun to do in the evenings or during quiet time, and they even made a few new friends while playing. It’s a thoughtful touch that turned downtime into something special. Whether you're out exploring during the day or spending quality time together in the lodge at night, Sunwapta Lodge creates a space where families can unplug, reconnect, and make lasting memories. If you're looking for an authentic mountain lodge experience with incredible natural surroundings and genuinely caring staff, this place is a gem.

Yelp
This is a nice stop between Banff and Jasper for food, a little souvenir shopping and to use the washroom (bathroom). I believe this is part of a Inn or Cabins. They served breakfast, pies, soups, quiche, coffee and beverages. A nice dining area to take a break from driving and grab food. If you drive a little further in, there is a small parking lot to do a short hike to Sunwapta Falls.

Yelp
Sunwapta Falls is located along the iconic Icefields Parkway, between Jasper and Banff. It's a short walk from the Sunwapta Falls Rocky Mountain Lodge! We stayed here at the lodge since there's not much choice for lodging! Also if you're here, you'll be eating at the restaurant and it's pretty expensive! When you arrived at the restaurant, they seat you and then you'll have to go and order at the bar in the back! The salmon and the rainbow trout were the best on the menu! The breakfast was ok, one day there were no fruits because the truck was two hours delayed on their delivery!

Yelp
Great place to stay in Jasper Park. Honestly, the best part was the breakfast which includes fresh, hot eggs and potatoes. Cereal, bread, fruit, and a small variety of pastries were also available. Togo cups also available upon request. The rooms do look dated, but at least the beds were replaced and very comfortable. We requested a mini fridge, microwave, and a water boiler for the room. The rooms are only cleaned up on request. Rooms were quiet, we could hear the upstairs room walking but otherwise it was very quiet. The workers at the front desk are very friendly. And helped to answer questions that we may have. You can also request additional toiletries, towels, etc from the front desk. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others. Bonus: get up early and be the first at sunwapta falls!

Yelp
Had a long day exploring Canada, was looking for a place to eat and found this off the road. We thought we would get a quick meal but was surprise to find such wonderful dish! They had a special of the day which was seafood pasta, it was delicious! Salmon over rice was probably one of the best salmon I ever tasted. And a lot of drinks to choose from. The lava cake wrapped up the meal and I left satisfied! Staff were friendly and attentive!

Yelp
The staff members at this hotel's front desk were friendly and helpful. Those working in the bar area were less friendly and pretty clueless about how to get us a simple glass of milk. (That to-go order simply should not have been anywhere near as complicated as they made it out to be.) Our room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. Our main gripe with this property is that it is unnecessarily expensive, and it provides little value for the money. There is no internet, no wifi, no cell phone service, and no air conditioning. Additionally, on a perfectly clear day, even their television service cut in/out repeatedly. For the amount they charge, all of these things ought to be remedied. And seriously, heaven help the traveler who stays at this property on a hot day.

Yelp
This is a great place to stay that puts you right near the park. I love having breakfast included. It was delicious. We stayed two nights and it was comfortable and very clean. I would stay there again if going to Jasper.

Yelp
*Review for The Kitchen @ Sunwapta* Exceeded our expectations! We were looking for a restaurant and saw this as we were exiting the falls area. Gave it a shot in the dining room and it turned out to be a decent breakfast with good service. Reasonable prices and the Rocky Mountain Plate was hearty and filled us up.

Yelp
I've been to some very nice restaurants and this one is not even close. The food is good, but the prices they charge make me expect a semi-gourmet meal, which they do NOT deliver. Their $35 beef stroganoff consisted of 2 small pieces of meat, 10 small quarter mushrooms, and a lot of sauce. There was also a small scoop or rice. It was pretty tasty, but give me a break, how about a little more actual food at this price. The $12 kids grilled cheese meal came with a small handful of fries and an average sized sandwich. It also had a tiny glass of sofa and a decent sized scoop of vanilla ice cream for desert. Kids (ages 11 and 9) were still hungry after eating everything served. I went with the $43 steak. The plating was nice, but it had 1 small floret of broccoli, 2 slivers of potato, and maybe 1/4 of a red bell pepper. The steak was thick, but also small. I ordered it medium and I would say that they did a good job of cooking it. The meat was not all that tender though. I was also hungry afterwards. If you're in the area and need some dinner, and don't mind paying crazy prices, you can get a decent meal here. Update: We ate here the following morning for breakfast and again for dinner. While the food was about the same quality as the first night, the servings were a lot larger, so we weren't hungry after the meals. For breakfast we tried the French toast (tasty) and a breakfast meal with eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, and potatoes. This one was well made and enjoyable. For our second dinner we tried the green curry and pork loin. The pork was a little dry. The green curry was pretty spicy, nothing remarkable.

Yelp
Very nice accommodations, close to the Sunwapta Falls for hiking. The meal for Thanksgiving was very very good. It was the last day they were opened for the season. Oct 11th and the. weather was gorgeous

Yelp
This place deserves 5 stars! First of all, it is out of no where! But it has clean rooms, and a restaurant on property. The hotel is really clean and has a modern lodge feeling. I usually am afraid of hotels that are in the woods and worry if they are clean. But this one really surprised me! They offer connecting rooms only if you book a king room. If you book the two double beds, unfortunately they don't offer connecting rooms. Pros: Nice staff Restaurant on property that has good food Clean Picnic area in the middle of the grounds Close to a waterfall Heater in the room!! Cons: No phone in the room to call front desk This place is usually booked out completely during summer months (June/July)

Yelp
My fiancé and I stopped by to grab a quick lunch before heading out to Maligne Lake. Not going to lie, we weren't really expecting much considering that it's kinda in the middle of nowhere and there weren't many people around. Once we stepped inside, we were greeted right away by a really pleasant guy who even showcased the soups to us (which all looked AMAZING, btw) and explained the menu to us. We ended up sharing the elk burger and omg it was SO BOMB. I am not a big meat eater, but the burger was so tasty! I could eat that burger everyday if I wanted to. After we were done, we both regretted not getting our own burger, but we will definitely be back on our next visit!

Yelp
Food is actually really good here! We are traveling along Banff and Jasper and stopped here for food. My groups got the burgers, grilled cheese and beef stew. Pleasantly surprised! Made our trip even better!

Yelp
We booked a night at Sunwapta Falls lodge in 2020 - and due to the pandemic, were not able to stay there until 2022. The staff patiently worked with me for 2 years on re-booking our reservation. We finally got there and were pleased with the accommodations. It is along the Icefields Parkway, not near any major towns, and offers full services - a restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner - and a nice gift shop featuring many indigenous arts and crafts. The rooms are basic but the beds and linens were very comfortable. The food is not gourmet, but the menu options were diverse, accommodating my vegetarian tendencies (tofu and vegetable curry) and my husband's choice of bison bolognese. And, the next morning, the restaurant manager was juggling a stream of busloads of tourists and still managed to get us a full omelette breakfast with no wait. More importantly, it is down the road from one of the prettiest hiking areas that we found on our trip - Sunwapta Falls. My one complaint is that the internet in our cabin room was very weak - we had to go into the office to get connectivity. But, they do bring in the connection via satellite, so it is better than nothing. Highly recommend.

Yelp
A charming hotel and restaurant 1 km from the upper Sunwapta Falls. I stayed here two nights in May, actually not knowing that we had booked right on opening day. My party and I arrived early in the morning to see if we could check in, as we were working in the area. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, and did everything they could to make sure that our stay was a pleasant one. From recommending we book a dinner time because a tour group was coming in, to allowing us to sit ten minutes early for breakfast to avoid the rush, the customer service was top notch and we always felt well taken care of. There is a cute little souvenir shop next to the front desk and restaurant. If you are a sucker for these shops, like me, then this one has great selection! The restaurant is a little on the pricey side, but this place is relatively isolated so that is to be expected. However, the food was superb. I would definitely recommend the Hunter's Pot Pie. I couldn't get enough! Rooms include a wood burning fireplace, but you have to call the front desk to come and light a fire for you (Felix was awesome, by the way). They don't give you much more than kindling, which lasts about 45 mins if you are careful with it, but I understand them not wanting big bonfires in the rooms.

Yelp
I haven't written a review for a long time but I just had to give props to this hidden gem on the side of highway 93 just off the road going to Sunwapta Falls. Visited this place on our way to the falls on May 17 and just looked around the gift shop and went back the next day for lunch coming from Jasper. The gift shop was great, lots of souvenirs to choose from. The restaurant was just next to the gift shop and we dropped in again for lunch and had the elk burger and butter chicken wrap. Both were very good, really tasty and filling. It was my first time to try elk burger and I must say for something that is pretty lean the way they made it was just delicious and full of flavor. My compliments to the chef. But the thing that really stands out at this place is the people. The staff from the gift shop to the the ladies at the restaurant were some of the nicest people you will ever meet. They are really very welcoming, accommodating, friendly and helpful with your needs. The lady at the gift shop (I believe her name is Christine) was great and made us feel very welcome. I wasn't able to get the names of the ladies at the restaurant but they were as well very helpful with our needs. It really is true that Canadians are really the nicest people in the world. So if anyone gets a chance to drive by highway 93, stop by this place and experience the warmth of the people. Keep up the great work Rocky Mountain Lodge!

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised with this Motel / Restaurant as it was a last minute random pick for me, because I wanted to be relatively close to the "glass floor" Glacier Skywalk stop. I know there are a lot of no-name places that charge crazy prices during their short peak season along this route, but this place has staff who really seem to care, and seems to be well maintained over the years delivering value for money. The "white tablecloth" restaurant was another nice surprise, in that it had some unique wild game items on its menu. I enjoyed the Buffalo medallion, but there was an authentic hunters pot pie offered too. Beautiful local photography filled one wall. Free internet was slow but functional - the staff warned me that is was a shared satellite connection. My speed test showed about 5MB/s.

Yelp
This lodge and restaurant are a decent spot for a one night stopover. The lodge is poorly laid out and needs updating, but is clean enough, and is sufficient -- though overpriced in high season. The staff is really friendly and helpful. The restaurant is overpriced and decent, but not memorable. If you don't have other options due to geography or availability, this place is fine, but will never be a highlight in your trip.

Yelp
Very friendly and helpful staff, the rooms were better than expected and the food at the restaurant was superb (though pricey but it is in the middle of nowhere so expected). We'll be staying again in the future.

Yelp
The circumstances that put us here for an slightly long erstay were unfortunate, as we were only planning on stopping to do the short hike to the falls behind here, but a couple accidents closed the highway on both sides. Due to this, the hotel and restaurant was overwhelmed by travellers in the same situation. Although we weren't staying at the hotel, the staff was extremely accomodating, gracious, and patient despite the crowds. There was no cell service, but they opened up their wifi (a valiant effort, for sure, although the hordes of devices connecting overwhelmed their connection). They provided water, kept the building open to allow people to sit down inside and use the washrooms, and really went above and beyond what I would've expected. They also kept us updated on the road closure. Southbound opened up around 10 or 11pm, but we needed to go north, and that ended up opening around 3:30am. Although our family had an impromptu night sleeping (or trying to sleep) in our rental car, they really seemed to do all they could to help make it better. I especially appreciate the staff for being so patient with everyone and being so organized within the chaos. Thank you Sunwapta Falls Lodge!!

Yelp
Old, stinky, overpriced rooms. Nothing to do nearby. Keep driving into Jasper, this one should be avoided.
