Amazing Food! Fun Atmosphere! Friendly Staff! StarzJeepCrew has a must stop in Newport Oregon on Hwy101 coastal highway! This Mexican food is authentic, fast service with a drive thru open till midnight!!

Anneke Brown

Google
Thank you for my delicious nachos every time! The chips are always crisp and full of carne asada or pork! It is the perfect munchy crunchy food! You always have my cold #coke in a glass bottle! Thank you for feeding this tired, hungry mama!

The people at the drive thru window need to repeat the orders because nine times out of ten, they get it wrong. Super inconsistent is more like it. You never know what you are going to get at this place. They use to have hand made taco tortillas that were super delicious but no mas. ?Por que?

Sherwood Shwartz

Google
Eat here just to remember what terrible food tastes like. No pride, but lots of grease. Utter blandness. How they managed to allow oil drip from the bottom of a chicken burrito is a mystery for the ages. No lie, we drove through McDonald's afterwards to remove the memory.

janeatte

Google
The food was tasty and great portions, the tortillas were warm and they had a variety of salsas. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Google
Very poor attitude and customer service. They are rude to customers when they make mistakes on orders. Don't ever trust them to replace your order at a later time. They deny ever talking to you. Very LOW of any business to conduct themselves the way they do. I will NEVER tip again.

Google
I always get their Chile Verde burrito and it's usually either good or amazing. Just depends if it's fresh or not. If it's not, the meat can be hard in some areas but still edible. If it's fresh, it's so delicious that I take the risk of ordering it again in hopes of getting another fresh one, lol. I've had it 4 times and it was amazing, good, amazing and good. So next time I hope it's amazing! 😁

Google
Best Mexican food in newport. Not on the menu but their spicy chicken tacos are the BEST. Staff and owners are super nice.

Yelp
I drove thru late at night to grab something to eat before making the three hour trek back to Portland. With wet shoes on my feet, and sand inconveniently wedged in every crevice on my body after a day playing on the beach, I wasn't about to dine-in anywhere. That's why I was thrilled to see Super Oscar's lights on late. I ordered a pollo asado burrito with beans, rice, guacamole, cheese and sour cream - and it was delightful! My biggest pet peeve is when establishments don't evenly distribute the ingredients in a burrito. It's all about layering, folks! I was thrilled to discover Super Oscar's does it right! Also, thumbs up for serving Mexican cokes (glass bottle, no HFCS sweeteners) Don't be intimidated by the gigantic, incredibly extensive menu. Super Oscar's is super convenient and delicious... hopefully you'll agree!

Yelp
Moving here from Portland ( where I lived after growing up in Arizona) we have inflated high hopes for somewhat divey Mexican drive thrus. ( for reference, we love Mexicali Express, Taco del Sol, Don Pedro, and La Parilla Kitchen on the west side of PDX). This was not a great experience. We got two chicken quesadillas with a side of guac and a diet pepsi and I spent $30 including tip. The woman in the window was very nice, the tortilla part of the quesadilla was pretty properly grilled on the outside at least,( although there were some pieces of random meat and veg stuck to the outside of both tortillas), and the red and green hot sauces were good, those are the high points. My diet Pepsi's syrup to carbonated water ratio was off, the guacamole was gloopily weirdly nasty, and the shredded chicken in the quesadilla was stringy and wet. Mediocre. Oh, and the orange cheese inside the quesadilla was strange! Also we expected something to come with the quesadilla for $9.99 -a blob of sour cream, tomato slices with shredded lettuce, a handful of chips, or smidge of rice and beans maybe but that is not the case. My spoiled child, 22, threw most of their meal out. Plus out went the weird slimy guac and my soda. I ate most of my quesadilla but it was just sad, man. We will be either quesadilla-ing at home or hitting a taco truck next time. Try something else but probably skip the chicken.

Yelp
No. Just NO. I feel like this would be the food for "Mexican Night" At an assisted living facility . Bland, no flavor, definitely no spices- of any kind- no heat but also no substance. And they got my order wrong. I had the combo #2- supposed to be a shredded beef taco and a cheese enchilada. Ended up with both being shredded beef. No cheese whatsoever in the enchilada, but lots of onions and bell peppers and some beef- which mildly improved the flavor of the beef- but gave it a Philly cheesesteak sabor rather than Mexican. They topped it with cheese but the cheese wasn't even melted. The tortilla was limp and tasteless. The taco was fried and tasted ok, but the shredded beef had no flavor- tasted like it came from the pre-packed Del Real kitschy you get at the grocery store- no seasoning. And they don't have any hot sauce or salsa available to try and dress any if it up. Rice was over cooked and also flavorless- I think they merely wafted the tomato paste over the dish, rather than actually adding any to the rice. However, the beans were soooo salty! I would say the enchilada sauce tastes like it came out of a can, but I've had plenty of canned enchilada sauce with more flavor than this. The decor and atmosphere definitely match the food. The place is dirty, unkempt, and run down. I do not understand why there are always people here when the food is blah and the inside is a trash heap. You can add a 3rd blah for the customer service. From eavesdropping, , the staff seem to get along and have fun with each other, but none of that transitions to any kind of friendliness or general service atmosphere. Do not waste your money, time or tastebuds on this DUD.

Yelp
We were in town for the weekend and found Super Oscar's. Great food, great price. Friendly staff. Lots of seating. The menu is huge, I had a hard time picking what to order. I'll be back!

Yelp
This is definitely not real Mexican food Food has little to no seasoning. The salsa taste like Taco Bell sauce everything feels rushed maybe because it's all frozen?? Idk but definitely don't recommend.

Kaimana T.

Yelp
I love this place but I really just paid $6.49 for a little ass burrito. It looked very greasy and not the usual satisfaction I get from these (normally) amazing burritos.

Yelp
Service was fine, the restaurant itself is big and nice and clean. But the food... below average, I got a carne asada plate which was just little chunks of meat in a pile, like you'd serve to a toddler... it was cold enough to not be considered warm, overall I took a couple of bites of the super dry, cold meat, and ate about half of the rice and beans that was ehh. My fiancé got adobada fries which you could tell was microwaved, cold in the middle warm on the outer edges. It also didn't have much meat whatsoever. We also got a couple of tacos a carne asada and a carnitas. The carnitas one was decent, that's the only reason for 2 stars instead of 1. The carne Asada was the same super dry chunks as on my plate. We doubted that we'd find good Mexican food on the Oregon coast, but seeing this place have 4 stars we had some hope. All of that hope took a $h!t on our plates No hate to the workers though they were nice, keep on making uncultured people happy! Edit: I forgot to mention nothing had flavor! The salsas didn't even help that fact.

Yelp
Website says 24 hours but is a lie, called ahead and got a recording saying they cant take your call

Yelp
Ordered a number 8. One steak and one pork. Authentic refried beans. Everything was well made and fresh, great flavors. I'll be coming back.

Debra B.

Yelp
Absolutely good food, friendly service, and smiling staff! I would recommend. Fabulous artwork to complete the ambiance.

Yelp
Arrived to Newport on a Friday night, later than anticipated, with baby in tow, and we needed some eats fast! Super Oscar's was conveniently located on the main highway on the way to our accommodations, and generally Mexican food is pretty quick. We grab a couple of taco plates for takeout and they were ready in about 10 minutes (walk-in, the drive through looked packed!) Food was just fine, middle of the road. Rice and beans a bit bland, and actually the meat as well, but the green limey avocado sauce slathered all over the tacos was really good and helped! But for convenience, speed, size and price, I would recommend SO's. They are open 24/7 too!

Juan M.

Yelp
I'm just leaving a review on here just to say that, the reason why it's "bland" and "flavorless" is because the people that created the dishes are considerate of people with no taste buds. They don't want to over spice or overwhelm people that don't season their food.
google avatar

Laurie R.

Yelp
My friend and I ordered the special and a number 1, which came with refried beans and rice. Our beans and rice were cold and the cheese on her order was not melted. We were starving and would have eaten almost anything at that point, but we didn't finish it. If I could give a -1 star I would.
google avatar

Trevor B.

Yelp
Ordered a bean and cheese burrito with beef, got home and the burrito had potato and peppers in the meat. Brought the burrito back and was given the most hateful attitude by one of the lady's there. She explained that how they make their beef and apparently I am suppose to know that. There are zero descriptions of what comes with what at this place. The lady was very rude but made my burrito again to my specification and was told that they wouldn't do that again since it wasn't their fault. I will never spend another dime or moment at this restaurant again. Service is crap! You would think that in such a small town they would try and be accommodating. Word of mouth is huge and I hope they lose a lot of business because of these types of issues. They have a horrible rating with no replies to customer concerns or attempts to make things right.

Liesl H.

Yelp
Disappointed right off the bat that they don't serve margaritas. Then the food was pretty bland. My husband ordered the rolled tacos, which were very sparse on filling. My chicken burrito was okay, but also plain, along with the rice and beans. The orange (habanero?) hot sauce did help improve the flavor some--probably the highlight of the meal. Overall the food was pretty disappointing. On a more positive note, the service was friendly and prompt!
google avatar

Nicole S.

Yelp
This place is delicious! Breakfast burritos are giant and amazing! Plus they aren't loaded with a ridiculous amount of just potatoes...they are full of meat, eggs, cheese, and potatoes. Definitely won't be disappointed if you ear ar Super Oscar's! The rolled tacos are so good, and the Tortas will knock your socks off because they are amazing! The green sauce is so good! I have not yet had anything here that wasn't spectacular. Everything has always been delicious. So try them out, and make sure to wear stretchy pants because you won't leave hungry!
google avatar

Mimi L.

Yelp
Great bean and cheese burritos. I ordered just beans due to dairy allergy and it was still a delicious burrito. Just like the kind you get in Az. Thank you
google avatar

Yelp
First visit, Got Takeout of Chicken Enchilada and Beef Taco from combo plate options list, fresh tasty, hot sauce is good staff was friendly price approx $10.00, Would Recommend! Chicken in last part was slightly undercooked but not bad or terable by any means in fairness and didn't get sick with a weak digestion just something to maybe and possibly concider improving on to do better with the classic "cooking to perfection". Overall got what I was expecting, from experence, better judgment and from reading reviews and looking at pictures etc... Place certainly delivers the goods in it's context and one gets what they came for mostly quite fresh and good and thus not disappointed, thus 5 stars!

Hailey J.

Yelp
Best fast food in Newport. Not enough credit is given to the hard work and tasteful food!

Cameron B.

Yelp
First of all, their burritos are just names with no explanation, anywhere, as to what is in them. Secondly, they have a giant burrito tortilla filled with a small amount of stuff. Then they wrap all the excess tortilla into a wad and make it part of the burrito shape. Then when you eat it you get a mouth full of tortilla shell which is not tasty in large amounts. Thirdly, the filling was dry. Needed liquid to wash it down. Get stuck in your throat, dry. Fourthly, it's expensive. About 10$ for a surprise flavor, half filled, choke down burrito.

Yelp
A really tasty low carb option. We went for the Taco Salad - no shell, no beans - I had the shredded beef and the wife had the chicken. Being one of the 1% that doesn't like Avacado / Guacamole, the wife was kind enough to consume what came with mine as well as hers. I was a little nervous from some recent reviews however I was happily surprised. The place was very clean, seating was comfortable and the food was tasty, hot and generous portions. I found the staff to be friendly and eager to accommodate our non-traditional request. My only suggestion for improvement would be in their beverage choices - the wife avoids caffeine and sugar and they didn't have any choices to match that. I do enjoy diet pepsi and was quite happy with my beverage selection. Under $20 - 2 salads, 2 medium sodas - a lot of food, well seasoned, juicy and cooked to perfection. #lowcarb

Yelp
Just ok, nothin fancy. Service isn't that great, just kinda "it is what it is" haha but it's affordable

Yelp
Hearing the person taking our order was awful. The drive-thru speakers are terrible. Ordered 2 meals, one with a soft drink and a bottle of water. Total was $22.00. The first mistake was our drink. They handed us a tea type drink and we gave it back. Somehow our order after handing back the drink went from $22.00 to $26.00. Food was ok but nothing special. Better go inside to have better communication.

Yelp
I usually get one thing which is the potato egg and cheese burrito with extra red sauce (not sure what it's called) and I love it, the price isn't too high and the burrito itself is delicious and huge. The people have always been pretty friendly which too is nice. The building itself looks a little strange compared to what I'm used to but it helps me find it easier so I like it. All in all 10/10 for me

Jean H.

Yelp
My "to go" place for tacos! They really do a great job on their food. So nice to have them here.
google avatar

Scot W.

Yelp
I typically get a burrito here, either carne asada, Chile verde, or chorizo. Chile verde is probably my favorite of the bunch. I have also tried their tortas a few times, but the bread was stale at least one time. The portions here are huge. While the food itself probably deserves 3 or 3.5/5, the price and portions make this a 5 star value. As others have mentioned, their green sauce is excellent. I haven't had any platters or sides here, so I can't speak to the full menu.

Mayra H.

Yelp
Food and horchata was horrible. The food was not even warm when we got it. The asada burrito had big chunks of asada meat, meat had no flavor.
google avatar

Kari M.

Yelp
Their breakfast burritos are everything! Perfect hangover food. It reminds me of the old Muchas Gracias.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick meal on our way to see the Lighthouse (Yaquina Bay Lighthouse). They were busy. Closing in about an hour. Easy clear ordering. 2 carne asada tacos for me...meat was dry and very juicy salsa fresco which quickly made my corn tortillas soggy and not able to be held. Boo! Cheese quesadilla was cheesy and yummy, they grilled it like I like it kid #1 said. Bean and cheese burrito was so good and yummy kid #2 mentioned. Hubby said his carnitas burrito was typical and a-ok. Seating was a help yourself...few tables to choose from that were clean. Food on floors like they hadn't been swept for a few hours. Friendly service though. Soda fountain was ok...sticky surface next to it. This is a fast food Mexican joint with a drive-thru. Good for a quick no frills meal.

Cheryl P.

Yelp
The Food Is So Flavorless and the Guacamole Was Flavorless and Thin Didn't Even Taste Like Avocados or Good At All, if it wasn't for the salsa that was also flavorless it didn't even taste like Mexican food and the meat was tough Real Mexican Food Has Good Mexican Flavor and the Meat Is Tender

Yelp
After trying to stop at TWO other taqueria's that were supposed to be open but weren't, we ended up here. We were RELIEVED to find this place open and maybe it happened like that for a reason because their food was delicious, and they had baseball on TV. My boyfriend got tacos and enchiladas and I got a chorizo torta with a chicken taco. I feel like I am possibly missing something, because my chicken taco came in a hard shell when I was expecting the classic soft shell taco (my boyfriend got the classic soft shell tacos with his order). I don't normally order chicken so maybe chicken is just generally served in a hard shell and I've been unaware all these years?? Someone feel free to fill me in because we couldn't figure it out but maybe I'm just an idiot when it comes to taqueria's lol their hard shells were good though, but the hard shells are difficult for me to eat so I didn't get through it all. I was happy with my torta that was HUGE but I got through it all. My boyfriend was pleased with his food. Ultimately we left with happy bellies and I wouldn't hesitate to stop here again!

Yelp
If you want your order done wrong and you want a queasy feeling in your stomach after you eat, this is the place for you. Otherwise, you should skip this place.
google avatar

Brandi O.

Yelp
The best carnitas nachos we have ever had! It was late and our first night in Newport. My husband was craving nachos and all the nearby pubs were closing down for the night. This place has exactly what he wanted. Super flavorful, lots of yummy ingredients. The carnitas were soo good! It was $11 for this heaping plate of nachos, more than enough for the 2 of us to share.
google avatar

Yelp
We ate here 3 x this week while working in Newport. Always busy. Consistent. Fairly priced food. Adobada torta 10/10 Breakfast burritos 8/10 Asada fries 6/10 Verde 10/10
google avatar

Medwynn V.

Yelp
Went to the drive thru since it was after hours. It looked closed but it was actually open at 10:30 pm. I had the Cabeza (Caveza on the menu) burrito. The beef cheek meat for the uninitiated. It came with the usual (onion, cilantro, rice, refried beans). I also asked for their hottest salsa (habanero) and their medium salsa (chile de arbol). The meat was tender and delicious. My taste buds were on overload. On my to go list when in Newport.
google avatar

Ts S.

Yelp
Always enjoy their burritos - my fav is the diablo shrimp. Pretty quick at the window & friendly staff always.
google avatar

Mary G.

Yelp
Service- it was good, nothing too terrible, just a little misled. I asked what normally comes in the burritos and she said Pico de Gallo, guacamole, cheese and sour cream. So my sisters ordered chicken burritos and it only had cheese an chicken in it? So be aware of that. Quality- doesn't really taste authentic better than Taco Bell's tho just still tastes like another fast food version. Environment- clean & welcoming but also a tiny bit dull. I recommend the loco burrito which was pretty good! :)
google avatar

Carole B.

Yelp
Very nice staff, but that's where the pluses end. The seats are torn and dingy, many of them needed to be bussed. I'm not expecting fancy decor, but a few repairs and maintenance would go a long way. I ordered one fish taco and two chicken tacos. The fish was an unnatural color and shape. The chicken tacos came in store bought hard shells - yuck! And the morsels vaguely resembled poultry. Even the hot sauce bottles were super greasy. C'mon guys - wipe down some tables and condiments every blue moon.

Lynn K.

Yelp
Am I the only one who thinks food is bland?? Not even salsa perked it up.Rolled Tacos

Yelp
I'm having a hard time returning to Super Oscars, but with literally no other taco shops in Newport, and being from Cali...I kinda have no choice. Lately the food has been lackluster to say the least. From leaving cheese off of rolled tacos to forgetting entire entrees, when ordered TO GO, since they have no dine in. With food at the quality of being able to make it at home, it's almost time to stop going to Super Oscars out of desperation. In times like today, when COVID almost wiped every restaurant off the map, I'd pay closer attention to your menu, customer service and overall business practices. Orrrrrrrrrrrale! Get it together Oscar!
google avatar

Ted F.

Yelp
Had an appetite for some good Mexican tacos, so we went to Oscar's in Newport for the first time. Very disappointed. Over cooked. Greasy. Actually found tacos that were worse than Taco Bell's, which I thought was impossible. Will be trying some other place next time.

Steph O.

Yelp
Very fast, friendly, good food. Spiced up our takeout with salsa and hot sauce at home to our liking. Will definitely go back! Thanks for the great service!

Dingy O.

Yelp
They have gotten our take out order wrong several times now. We live 40+ minutes away and don't discover it until we get home. When I called they refused to do anything about it.
google avatar

Amanda R.

Yelp
Came through just a few minutes after their sign said they opened and got a couple of Oregon burritos and they were awesome. Not to mention the green sauce! Will come back for sure.
google avatar

Luis M.

Yelp
La comida muy mala, ordene una torta de asada y el pan parecía que tenía más de 10 días...muy mal sabor...
google avatar

Haley S.

Yelp
Wouldn't recommend. We went thru the drive thru and order a steak breakfast burrito and a huevos rancheros.. we got the wrong order.. we got some super breakfast burrito and some chorizo meal.. we went back and told them that the order was wrong. they tried to replace it but still gave us the wrong order after they were told in person what was and they still provided us with the wrong order. We will not be returning.
google avatar

Sudi S.

Yelp
This place is hit-or-miss. Their burritos can be great; The carne asada burrito with beans and rice tastes great and will fill you up for days, but when I ordered a chicken burrito, it was literally pieces of chicken and some grated cheddar wrapped in a tortilla. I tried the chili relleno and it was okay and I've had the green chili and was unimpressed. Another time I asked for a side of chips and guac and literally got a box of tortilla chips with guacamole spread on top. I now know that I must be explicit when I order. Others have told me that the breakfast burritos are amazing. Overall, I haven't had anything less than mediocre, and if you order the right thing, it can be delicious.
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
Best burrito I've had in a long time, and I grew up in LA, SD, San Clemente/OC where the best Mexican this side of the border can be found... nice job guys. Not pretentious at all, authentic Carnitas, good Guac and Pico... Diablo hot sauce could use a little honey but that's about it...
google avatar

Linda R.

Yelp
I had a Taco plate 1 beef & 1 chicken taco with rice & beans 1. The place had a dirty bathroom 2. The taco shell was so hard I felt like my teeth could break 3. The beef was dry 4. The rice was ok--plain 5. The beans were good 6. The restaurant was dirty--tables needed busing. 7. The orders are taken at the counter & when ready they yell the order on the P.A. System I am Mexican & know what I'm talking about--I'm from San Diego CA (born & raise
