The best thing about this hotel is the staff. When we checked into the Sur Plaza Hotel (now owned by Best Western), the lovely Shomalia in reception told us that there were two separate bookings in our name. The complication and error were not of the making of the staff at the hotel, but Shomalia and her manager sorted out the issue and saved us a potentially expensive outlay. Excellent outcome.||In terms of the hotel itself, the rooms are tired and in desperate need of renovation - showers over baths that spill water all over the floor, long term mould stains in the grout, old bathroom fittings, metal door frames rust damaged at the base, damaged chipboard wardrobes, poor soundproofing which was made worse by the tiled floors in the rooms where every movement of furniture above could be heard.||Hopefully Best Western will provide a long overdue renovation, because I would not stay here again at the prices currently charged without cosmetic improvement. The potential for this hotel is huge, especially with the world discovering how amazing Oman is to visit.||As I mentioned above, the best thing about this hotel is the staff - every single one of them are welcoming and hardworking.
