Went to a wedding here last night. Everything was beautiful. Gorgeous property on the water, but not particularly large outdoor area for a wide variety of wedding pictures. very nice cocktail hour. Didn't like the drink special though (spicy margarita) . That was awful. Had the chateaubriand for my entree. That was awesome, but didn't like the appetizer. The dessert was in a room by itself! Incredible! Valet service was quick.

I recently had the pleasure of hosting my wedding at the Surf Club and I can't recommend it highly enough. From the moment we inquired, the communication was outstanding. The team was responsive, attentive, and genuinely invested in making our day special. Rick the banquet manager answered all of our questions and was incredible! We never had to worry about a thing! The food was amazing and everyone loved our cake! The venue itself is absolutely stunning, with breathtaking views and elegant spaces that provided the perfect backdrop for our ceremony and reception. The attention to detail was evident, and every corner was beautiful! I wish we could do it all over!! I can’t wait to get all of our professional photos and video back to see it all again! Our day-of coordinator, Bri, was a true gem. Her professionalism and organizational skills ensured everything went smoothly. She was always one step ahead, managing the timeline and making adjustments as needed without us ever feeling rushed or stressed. The Matre’d was equally impressive, overseeing the flow of the evening with grace and ensuring our guests were well taken care of. Thanks to the incredible support from the entire team, we were able to fully enjoy our special day without a hitch. If you're looking for a venue that combines beauty, excellent service, and a supportive team, the Surf Club is the perfect choice. The price was extremely reasonable considering the location and everything that was included! Thank you thank you thank you for helping us create unforgettable memories!

I will begin by saying this place is a dream! We had our wedding here in July. We worked with Jaime and he helped us out. At times it was hard to get in touch with him. When we had his full attention, he was great! He was very accommodating and made all of our requests happen! We had Rick as our maître d and Brianna as my bridal attendant and they are a true dream team! Everything ran like a well oiled machine! Brianna helped me feel so calm throughout the day. She was so sweet and made sure we were drinking water and eating throughout the day! She also got my dress bustled quick! The food was amazing, from cocktail hour, to dinner and then to dessert- the food was consistently delicious and plentiful! Our guests raved about the view, the food and the drinks! All in all it was an absolutely perfect day!

Major company event.  Cocktail hour with drinks, selection of crudite, cheeses, fruit and roaming appetizers.  For the roaming apps, I tried the mini lobster rolls, mozzarella brucheta and mini rice balls.  All were very good.  For dinner there was a lovely salad with poached pear and panchetta. There was a choice of steak, chicken, salmon and a vegetarian option for the main dish. For dessert there was a chocolate fondue setup close to the bar and a selection of mini desserts at the tables. The event space looked amazing (the company did some of the table decor and the event space staff did the plates, cutlery etc). The staff was friendly and helpful. There was enough parking (Valet - I did get there on the earlier side, so not sure about people who got there on the later side). Would like to come back for another occassion to verify this initial opinion.

Where do I begin to describe the best night of my life? Choosing the Surf Club on the Sound as our wedding venue was the best decision I’ve ever made. From the start, Jamie was so reliable and punctual, answering any question we had promptly. Wedding planning with him was an absolute pleasure! The venue itself is absolutely stunning, with endless photo opportunities. I got married on July 22, 2023, in the larger ballroom. Despite another wedding taking place upstairs in the smaller ballroom, the Surf Club did a fantastic job of keeping the events separate—I had no idea another party was even happening. The food was fantastic! We received so many compliments from our guests throughout the night, and I especially appreciated the special cake the Surf Club made for me upon request. I have to give a special mention to Victoria, my bridal attendant. She was the sweetest, most helpful person—a true angel who made me feel relaxed and comfortable on my wedding day. She was perfect, and I can’t thank her enough for being there for me. A big shoutout as well to George, our maître d’, for ensuring the event ran smoothly and for working with my husband and I on the wedding timeline we created. All in all, it was truly the best day of my life. If you’re considering the Surf Club, I couldn’t recommend it more!

Beautiful Venue, Kind and Helpful Staff, Delicious Food! Wonderful Drinks. The Views are second to none! I have a wonderful experience every time I am there. I would refer anyone to have their event at Surf Club On The Sound.

Google
Had my youngest daughter's wedding there last Friday. From the booking process with Rick Dileo through the planning and the actual event an overall platinum experience. Beautiful venue, good food and attentive service. Highly recommend.

Richard W.

Yelp
Have held several events here. Rick DiLeo is the best and has accommodated my organization on several occasions. Very nice venue with amazing food!

Mister S.

Yelp
Their vehicle valet service has sticky fingers. While my vehicle was surrendered and valet parked in their care and custody for a church anniversary gala someone stole my $370 META Ray Ban Smart glasses from my vehicle's console. I will never ever go there again!

Harry J.

Yelp
We went for a function recently and I was not impressed. The view is amazing from the patio but there is no ventilation so prepare to sweat. The banquet areas are incredibly dated. Lastly, the catering must be mandatory when you book here because the food was nothing short of disgusting! I've had airplane food that was just as good or better. If you're thinking of having a party here, think again or do a tasting. You only get to enjoy the view if you're on the patio anyhow . The banquet room is completely interior .

Yelp
Attended a wedding yesterday and can't say enough about this venue. From the beautiful grounds to the spacious ballroom that housed this event the place was fantastic. Servers and bartenders were professional and efficient. Now the food: the cocktail hour was spectacular. Stations included raw bar, carving, seafood, dumpling etc. All were exceptional. Sea bass, filet mignon and a chicken dish were offered for dinner. Although the sea bass seemed to be the hit of the 3, all were prepared with care and delicious. Viennese hour was off the hook. One of the best weddings we ever attended

Samantha C.

Yelp
I am a senior class advisor and we had an AMAZING prom for our students here! Jamie worked with us to create an unforgettable experience. The menu reflected the diversity, and cultural tastes of my students and the food was fantastic! Everything came out piping hot! The entire staff was courteous and accommodating! Paul, the maître d', was excellent all night with anything I needed! My students were absolutely blown away! Faculty and students both were saying how great of an event this was! We already booked for next year!

Yelp
The Surf Club has the water views are awesome and has all of what would make a wedding reception every dream come true.

Yelp
Wow this place is simply amazing from when you roll down the long driveway full of Fountains till your greeted by valet and omg wait until you get to cocktail hour. I've never seen an array of foods so impressed. Wait staff top notch everything runs so smooth. Food really great anything you try. Viennese hour was breathtaking. There was so many things you got dizzy sampling everything. Anyone looking for a wedding venue if you can afford there's nowhere else to go.

Asha C.

Yelp
Had my wedding here in November 2022. It was beautiful, staff was very accommodating, everything from booking to leaving went smooth. However, one of my deciding factors for choosing this place over another was liquor. I was told they serve the brand I prefer and that many of my guest prefer. When I was brought my drinks by my guests it did not taste right. My guest said it wasn't the premium brand they asked for. So I went to the bar and they offered me some off brand cognac I've never heard of. I demanded the correct brand and they went in a cabinet to get it (end of the night). For the money I paid and since I specifically asked for that when booking that should not have happened. If that didn't happened it would've been 5 stars.

Yelp
Attended my friend's wedding here, and the venue is excellent. Everything is very smooth from the valet staff to the open bar during the party. You can tell the staff members here are experienced. They engaged in minimal conversations with the attendees or each other. Instead, they worked hard to ensure everything was happening as scheduled/planned. When it was time to shift to say the cocktail hour, they wasted no time in directing the crowd to another room. In between different courses for the meal, the wait staff wasted no time in taking away (unfinished) plates. When the party concluded at 5 PM, the music stopped playing at 4:59 PM and the tablecloth covers came off at 5:01 PM. I guess efficiency is the correct way to describe this? The view is obviously gorgeous. The interior from the stairs to the furniture is stunning. Great for the photo op. The venue itself can fit up to 500 guests, apparently. My only question is that for a venue this large, they only have like 5 or 6 stalls in the women's bathroom. You'd think they'd have more bathrooms!?

Ron K.

Yelp
Good luck trying to get a drink at the bar. And when you finally get the bartenders attention, he'll only serve one drink per person. So you can't bring a drink back for your date, she has to leave the table and wait in line at the bar with you. Makes no sense.

Cindy J.

Yelp
I attended a wedding this afternoon. It was superb. The inside of the place had so many photo opportunities. The staircase was beautiful. The grand ballroom was a huge. It fit so many people! Cocktail hour was wonderful. There was food to the left, center, and right. I like that there was options for all. It was a tad cold at some points because the heat was distributed in different places but not too badly cold. The bartenders were also attentive. But I'm surprised they didn't have ciroc and they did not know what midori sour was. The dance floor was comfortable and for a lot of people! The lighting could've been a little brighter when the performances were dancing. The sound system was strong. During dinner, the waiters/waitress were very helpful and attentive. I would recommend this venue.

Laly C.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Starting with the entrance to the place to the back patio, perfect for a cigar event. Beautiful place!

Kiki K.

Yelp
I attended an afternoon Birthday party at this venue and it was lovely. The entrance was a bit understated with a decent size sign and lots of hedges so we missed it at first. But once we entered the property and saw the beautiful fountain we were pleasantly surprised. And that was the start to a wonderful afternoon. The valet were well organized and professional. And the waitsaff were very sweet and attentive. The design of the venue is the best part. The lobby/foyer was bright and open with a wide staircase that wrapped around to two small indoor balconies. The rooms were large and beautifully decorated. And there is sort of an elevated sun room that was used for the cocktail hour. So many photo op spots! It is truly a beautiful place. And the food was good too, which is rare. I find most catering places to either have bland food overall or only shine during one meal, like the cocktail hour. This place was consistent and the food was tasty and nicely presented. I was a guest so I don't have any info on cost, availability, package deals etc. But I had a great time. So if you are invited to an event here go with an empty tummy and a fully charged phone. You're gonna need both!

Adreanna H.

Yelp
Perfect perfect perfect. Had my wedding here on 11/5/2022 and I couldn't have asked for a better venue. Jaime was great and attentive during this whole stressful process for me. Beautiful, clean, elegant, organized venue. Recommend for upcoming brides looking for a venue!

Stacey C.

Yelp
We attended a family member's wedding this past weekend, the manager and some staff were extremely rude. To top off the night, my son's wallet was stolen from the bridal suite which contained cash, his license, a bank card and other important ID's. Other bridal party member's possessions went missing as well. When we informed the manager, he was very arrogant and refused to help out in anyway.

Lina Michelle V.

Yelp
Came here for a friend wedding and it was so beautiful. The outdoor ceremony was the best part with the water view. The food for cocktail hour was one of the best I've ever had. Overall the place is very classy and decorated beautifully. The outdoor was my favorite part. Would definitely considered having an event here.

Alfonso S.

Yelp
it was an experience, not underline not a good one I gave it one star being grossly generous It deserves -5 stars . OK the view is good and it's OK to book an event there if you like spoiled food in the cocktail hour the Parmesan cheese which is my favorite had green mold all over it. There is no AC in the cocktail room and for the main event the dining room had no Ac as well we were told that it had been broken for at least a week already, What a melting experience and let's talk about the service oh Forgive me there was no service. The dinner I asked for medium rare Chateau Briand and got a shoe soul, my wife got Bronzino it was paperthin and drastically overcooked. the only good experience I had was with a lady bartender. The only employee that showed any respect for the guests. Highly disappointed would not recommend this place if I had a gun to my head but if you're a masochist go ahead and book an event!!!!

Yelp
Well well, I didn't think I'd be back here again. Life has a funny way of doing that. Not a lot stands in my memory of high school prom. Where the hell were all these fire places on my magical night? I guess, it was a smart decision to let high school students only have access to the dance floor and parts of the beach. Yeah... there's a beach. It's fucking magical! In the ceremony room on a higher floor, you can overlook the sun setting on the beach, which is exactly what my friend did at her wedding. Like, super magical. There's a hall outside of the dance floor that's designated for an orgy of food, buffet style. I've been to 4 weddings in this past year alone, and nobody touches this place on catering. NOBODY! The food was so immaculate and tasty, it made me wonder whether I was eating out of a dumpster at those other weddings. And can I say, this is the cleanest hall I've been to? Because it is. It may have been $200 a plate but they do not cut corners. It almost felt personal. The sit down food during the reception was bland though. They probably figured everybody was stuffed by the time second dinner came along. Hell, I didn't even know there was a second dinner. People do that? The beach is pretty fun. There's a gazebo and other such decorations. Makes me sad I didn't take advantage of it when I was dating my high school sweetheart. I know she's going to read this and I know she's gonna be mad at me when I let people know I named my toilet after her. Hehehe.

Yelp
Worst place ever to hold any special occasion. A wedding was held costing over 70k in expenses and not a care in the world by staff. We were brought into a bridal suite that had a few appetizers from the cocktail menu. When asked about if we will be served any other meals from the cocktail menu we were told that's the cocktail menu and that was it. When we complained to the front desk the response was "I'm just a greeter" and that was that. A plate broke in the bridal suite and not one person cleaned it up. The broken plate was left on the floor all night. Dangerous hazard if you ask me because we also had children in the bridal suite part of the bridal party. Not one person came into the bridal suite and asked if anyone wanted any drinks. We had to bring our own liquor into the bridal suite and we were not ever asked if the bridal party would want drinks from the bar. All night plates were stacked in the sink in the bridal suite and left. The lock for the door for the the only bathroom in the bridal suite didn't even work. People were constantly walked in on until we had to alert everyone using the bathroom the lock doesn't work. When asked again about that the bridal attendant just said I'm here to cater to just the bride. We were in the bridal suite for about 2 hours and nothing to do. The TV doesn't work. We asked to play some music they said the speakers in the bridal suite are broken. How convenient especially knowing you will have a bride in here almost 2 years in advance and you couldn't make sure anything works. Don't forget we weren't even served drinks we had to bring our own liquor into the bridal suite. I had a wedding myself in Jericho Terrace and in our bridal suite we were brought everything from the cocktail menu and anything we asked for that we paid for. We were constantly asked what drinks would anyone like and if anything is needed and the bridal suite was way bigger. The food was disgusting and staff was extremely rude. I went to the bar with 2 other people and asked for 3 drinks and the bartenders response was 1 drink per person. I had to point to each person standing next to me at the bar to show them each person just to order a drink. The night was a disaster and I feel sorry for the bride and groom and spent enormous amounts of money and were miserable the whole night. They complained to the maître d' and nothing was done and when the entire family was leaving the "greeter and the maître d were talking about the families and party in a very racial demeanor. When they heard me listening by the door they walked away. Very professional right? I would never host or recommend any events to be held here. I had a few companies and families who were thinking of holding an event here with over 300 guests but I will let them know they are better off having the event catered at Glen Island Harbor Club or Marina Del Rey or VIP Country Club.

Lucy M.

Yelp
Hospitality doesn't exist here. Once they have your money, the staff is beyond rude, won't return your phone calls, are condescending, refuses to work with you, and misquote the contract you signed. It's a nightmare. Absolutely not worth the money, or the hassle. Go elsewhere.

Ricky Y.

Yelp
What a beautiful venue for a wedding. My friend recently got married here and the whole experience was memorable. From the ceremony outdoors with amazing views, to the beautiful ambience indoors, surf club on the sound is a great place to get married. Staff is very friendly and the food is quite delicious.

Cole C.

Yelp
I can't understand all the positive reviews. I was here as a guest this past weekend. Nothing at all was impressive. I was hesitant to give my car to the valet parkers, they looked and acted in a manner that made me uncomfortable. The place has seen better days. We were coming as other parties (3) were letting out. Talk about a fustercluck! No room for anyone to move. The arrival experience was underwhelming to say the least. it's a typical wedding factory and lives up to that reputation. The staff is uncaring, unfriendly and unprofessional, with few exceptions. The room where they held the ceremony was underwhelming as well. Unfortunately, the wedding had to be moved indoors due to the weather. I feel this was the only reason the bride wanted to marry here, the view! Well, if you are going to move it inside, clean the porch outside the floor to ceiling windows. Now let's talk about the food. Cocktail hour poorly executed with a low level of quality of the food, with again, a few exceptions. The cheese and prosciutto station was good, the carved lamb was good, everything else left a great deal to be desired. The hand passed selections were sparse, and the servers were unfriendly. Bar service extremely slow. What they considered the salad course was horrible, never seen anything like it, and I hope I never do again. Entrees were cold and poorly executed. Beef and Salmon were both overcooked and served cold. Bar service again slow, but friendly. Servers for dinner, again, not friendly. Room exceptionally cold to the point of uncomfortable, which is why so many left early. Desert was fairly good, but the coffee cold and bitter. All in all, not a place I would visit again. I'll send a nominal check next time and stay home.

Yelp
What a beautiful place. Big thank you to Mr. Jaimie Gizzo for making this process super easy from beginning to end. He responded to all my questions in less than 2hrs via email or phone calls. Unfortunately our decorator forgot a few essential items and the staff at The Surf Club made it work on the spot. Jaimie advised us regarding the best choice of menu and he was 100% on point. We had about 140 guests - 60+ teenagers 80+ adults and everyone stated that the food was delicious. Mr. Paul was awesome keeping me on track with timing. Thank you Surf Club staff for doing your part in making our special day perfect!!!

Sarina C.

Yelp
Two years ago, we walked into Surf Club and decided that there couldn't be a more perfect place for our wedding. Last week, it was finally our turn and Jamie Gizzo, and his team including but not limited to George and Merrill couldn't have done a more spectacular job at making our wedding day everything we dreamed it to be. My mom received calls for days with rave reviews about the beauty of the room, the grandiose cocktail hour, the view, and the dinner spread. Jamie Gizzo stood by our side over our two year engagement and helped us to create a vision we thought we could only dream of. As a bride, all of my energy went into all the details but I hadn't even given a thought to the itinerary of the night. Jamie, George and Merrill greeted us at the door, made sure our drinks were never empty, that our food was hot and that the night went ridiculously smooth. They guided us and our guests through each step and made it look and feel seamless. We will be forever grateful for such an amazing night. *Photos to come once we receive them from our photographer*

Yelp
I have to say. With the name of the place and the drive there. I wasn't expecting this! It was a bit of a surprise for me of how nice it was! For some reason "Surf Club" didn't scream out fancy to me?! But the place was amazing. The venue, the service, the food, the view. I would definitely come back here again! I've attended 2 weddings and worked 3. Not once was a disappointment!

Yelp
Whoa. Had my wedding ceremony and reception here about a week ago. I'm still blown away by the how great the event was. The hosting by maître d's Antonio and Rick, and the bridal attendant, Merell, was absolutely top-notch. From the moment, my wife and I stepped into the venue to book, we were taken care of. We wanted a wedding near water so we checked venues along the southern coast of Connecticut (we live in western CT). So overly priced. We saw the Surf Club and thought, "how elegant, I bet this is way more than those venues in CT." Nope. Still expensive, but a considerable difference in price compared to the CT venues, especially for what was being offered. Wedding went off without a hitch. I saw the bridal attendants and maître d's hard at work coordinating the wedding party and directing guests. Bottom line, I had guests telling me how WOW'ed they were by the venue and how great of a time they had. I highly recommend the Surf Club on the Sound for wedding ceremony and reception.

Marisa S.

Yelp
Would not recommend as a venue. No air conditioning in the cocktail hour. Low shelf liquor, madre di had no control over the floor plan, seating or delivery of food. Our table was removed do to last minute cancellations and we were never placed at another table. We had no place to sit and no one seemed to care at all. Guests weren't even served. Very disrespectful

Michael D.

Yelp
We had our daughter's wedding at the Surf Club and we were extremely happy with the entire evening! The venue is beautiful, the views are breathtaking, the food is unbelievable, and the service was outstanding. I am in the hospitality industry and would highly recommend the Surf Club! Every single guest raved about the food and the service! Thank you to Sandro and Antonio for making my daughter and son in law's special day one they will never forget!

Yelp
My wedding reception was held in the pent house of the Surf Club. My guests described their experience as "over the top", "elegant", "extravagant", "classy" and "beautiful":) "a fairy tale wedding" I had a very specific vision of what I wanted my wedding to look like and I knew from the day I first went to the surf club I wanted to be a bride there. I wanted sophisticated, clean, and beautiful, and every detail of my wedding was created my me (not following current trends). The day was PERFECTLY executed without missing a beat. My guests (even the most judgmental) were pleased and impressed with the food, cocktail hour, and desserts. The views of the sound from the surf club are phenomenal. We used both bridal suites (downstairs and pent house). My bridal attendant , photographer, and MC doted on my every need. Although they were from three different vendors , everyone worked well together and with perfection. Westchester floral teamed up with surf club to create my perfect dream wedding cake. My bouquets, arrangements, and cake looked phenomenal. I recommend using them for surf club because they're work is exquisite and the teamwork and service( and attention to detail) between surf club and Westchester Floral was incomparable. Ive never seen more perfect looking floral arrangements and cake! I am all about the details and was so appreciative to see the day fall into place so flawlessly! Jaime was my banquet manager. He is AMAZING. He was communicative, pleasant, patient and kind through the whole wedding planning process. He made sure everything was in place. Antonio was my Maitre D and he made all of my guests feel so comfortable and the night ran very smoothly. I would recommend Surf Club on the Sound to anyone who wants their wedding to be organized, have amazing customer service, beautiful, and experienced with having your day run as smoothly and flawlessly as possible.

Yelp
This past Friday September 29th 2017 was the most magical night of my life. I married my best friend and had the most amazing reception at the surf club on the sound. We had the pleasure of working with Jaimie Gizzo. From start to finish his attention to detail was superb. He made my husband and I feel so comfortable. Like we had known him for years. He put up with our one million and one changes and all with a smile on his face . We had our reception upstairs in the penthouse and it felt like we were royalty. Every single one of the staff members greeted us, congratulated us and always made sure we were taken care of. Our maitre d George was absolutely phenomenal making sure everything went off without a hitch. Our bridal attendant Meryl was a delight. She did not leave my sight for a minute . Anything I needed she was there 2 seconds later . From the moment we arrived off the party bus, Meryl grabbed my dress making sure it wasn't dragging and George was adjusting my husbands tie . It was just amazing how well we were taken care of . My guests could not stop raving about the food, service and the beauty of the venue. My husband and I were able to try all three of our entrees and I can not even think of the words to describe how good the food was. The cocktail hour, reception and Viennese hour were just absolutely amazing . I am so beyond happy that we went to The Surf Club for our wedding . I am still getting texts and calls from family and friends raving about how amazing everything was. To Jaimie Gizzo, George , Meryl and the rest of the Surf Club staff, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our wedding day so special and so beautiful. We will cherish these memories forever . Love, The Rizzo's

Yelp
Dear Surf Club: I've been going to your establishment for many years. I often have to attend dinners, fundraisers, and galas. I used to look forward to events hosted at your venue. The last two events I attended there changed my mind. The good: The venue- it doesn't get any better than this. I've always loved those views of the Sound that you offer. Although, whoever thought those plastic swans on the fountains were a good idea needs to seriously rethink their life choices. The Valet: Those guys move! I appreciate how expeditious they are specially when it is cold. The staff: They always greet you with a smile and make you feel welcome and special. The bad: The reason for this review- listen, Surf Club, I appreciate how you work with community organizations when it comes to different fundraisers but you do it by sacrificing the quality of your food. The first gala I went to had the worst, I repeat the worst, cocktail hour I have ever been to. Of all the stations that you usually have, only the middle one was out. It was very underwhelming. I heard there were passed hors d'oeuvres but, I never saw them. The dinner had the worst chicken I ever tasted in my life. Mind you this is a 150 per plate ticket. The second gala I went to had a better happy hour but, that tragic chicken came out again. Please stop it with that chicken. In conclusion, I love your venue and I used to love going there, but please, do not serve us that chicken anymore. I do think it is great that you help the community but, is there a way that Italian tragedy that the chicken is stays away from the dinners?

Yelp
My wife and I got married on Sept 20th 2019 and let me just start by saying that the Surf Club was nothing but incredible every step of the way. First off, Jaime Gizzo was awesome. From the first time we went into surf club inquiring about our wedding date, Jaime showed us around. Gave us so many details and was so professional and helpful every step of the way. He always received us with open arms and answered all of our questions. A month before the wedding we went in to meet with Jaime to do the food and cake tasting because surf club has their own chef that does everything in house and let me say, WOW. Surf club's food was phenomenal. 5 Star quality food and dessert. We didn't know what to choose. Everything was so delicious. Red Velvet with the strawberry filling is deft the way to go with the wedding cake. So delicious. The day of our wedding everything was perfect. We got married in a church and after the church ceremony and pictures all day my wedding party was tired and sooo hungry. Jaime received us at the door upon our arrival and took my whole wedding party to the Bridal Suite and had food for all of us before cocktail hour started. He was so helpful, polite, professional and made everything run smooth. We were also greeted by our Maitre D Ruggerio and our Bride Attendant Merrill. Ruggerio had everything set up and made sure nothing was missing. He helped us so much the rest of the day and was always smiling and courteous to every question and need we had. He made sure all of our belongings were packed at the end of the night. Merrill treated my wife and I with the upmost respect. I mean everyone did at surf club. Merrill always made sure we had our signature drinks in hand. She was always right next to my wife making sure her dress was fixed properly and everything was going according to plan. I was in love with some steak bites wrapped in bacon and she made sure I had some on my table all night with the ranch sauce lol. Thank you Merrill. You were amazing. All of my guest are still talking about the wedding and the food. My guest tell me the only thing bad about your wedding was TOO MUCH food lmao. I didn't know what to pick. Everything was delicious. At cocktail hour we had a Mexican station, Chinese station, Seafood station, Pasta station etc etc and everyone loved every single food they tasted. Friends and family are still raving about how good the food and the service was and how full they left Surf club. If you are getting married, deft do it at surf Club. They will treat you like you deserve to be treated, like a King & Queen. I'm hoping someone gets married at surf club because I need to enjoy their food again. It was nothing short of amazing! Delicious is an understatement!

Yelp
Holy moly! This venue blew my mind. I attended a wedding this weekend and the moment we turned in, the fountains had reminisce of Caesars palace. Walking into the venue made me feel like walking into a mansion and lastly the beach side lawn outside was gorgeous. Now the food at cocktail hour was banging! Coconut shrimp, half lobsters, enchiladas and Pizza! The ballroom also had a big dance floor and was very spacious. Nice spot and beautiful place to get married and hold a receiption.

Yelp
Words cannot express how appreciative we are for Jaime and the Surf Club for throwing a wedding to remember. My husband and I planned to get married in July 2020 with all our family and friends present; however, our plans were ultimately postponed due to COVID. Throughout the process, Jaime was extremely accommodating and rescheduled our celebration multiple times as our country's COVID situation evolved. Our plans ultimately came to fruition in July 2021 and what an event it was! Jaime provided fantastic and thoughtful food recommendations, allowing us to receive rave reviews from our guests regarding the food experience throughout the evening. The 90-minute cocktail hour complete with a raw bar, the sit-down dinner, and the Viennese hour were phenomenal. A special thanks to Jaime and the Surf Club for making our wedding dreams into a reality.

Yelp
I had my wedding here 3 weeks ago. The venue is spectacular inside and out. My mother and MIL were receiving calls for days after telling them how amazing everything was! The cocktail hour food was to die for and there is so much for everyone. We worked with Jaime Gizzo who did a great job planning the day, everything worked seamlessly and was very smooth. Meryl our attendant was amazing! She kept us all on track and made sure that everything was perfect and went off without a hitch. They really make sure everything is laid out for you the day of so it keeps any stress to a minimum. They tell you where to go and when which was hugely helpful not having to plan it out or think of the schedule yourself. They executed the event with professionalism and efficiency. I would not hesitate to recommend this venue to all brides, they turned my wedding into an 'event' it was completely perfect!

Yelp
Where do I begin?? Thanks to Rick, Charles, Anthony, my bridal attendant Merrill, the wait staff and the parking attendants of the Surf Club on the Sound, we had the wedding of our lives!!! My husband and I wed on Good Friday, March 25, 2016. Prior to the wedding day, we had countless meetings/visits with Rick to ensure our day would go off without a hitch. From food tastings to choosing a cake, discussing signature drinks, dropping off wedding items prior to the wedding, etc., Rick made the process seamless. The night before the wedding, we had a wedding rehearsal at the venue which was led by Charlie. I worried that I would have to keep people in order and give directions but really all I had to do was show up and play my role as the bride. He was that good. On the day of the wedding, Merrill was not only my bridal attendant but also assisted the guys in their suite. We were all on the second floor. She was super attentive, funny, knowledgeable and had her own wedding emergency kit in her suit jacket haha. She kept us fed, hydrated, and oh so comfortable. Merrill never hesitated to assist with anything. She helped me get dressed as well for my own bridal party reveal. Additionally, she continued to assist me once the wedding began and throughout. We love her!! The venue is beautiful, well maintained, scenic views on the water, and made for royalty. Upon arrival, our guests were greeted with cocktails and provided direction to head to the ceremony space. After the ceremony, they went to cocktail hour, followed by the reception. Our guests raved about the food, the drinks (never had a line at the bar), and the staff. Everyone was courteous and provided top notch service. I could go on for days writing about how exceptional everyone was. There was even another wedding that started after ours on the first floor but we never crossed paths or heard a peep from them. My husband and I are truly grateful for the staff at the Surf Club on the Sound for this wonderful experience. By the end of the night, it felt like they were family. Our guests are still talking about this fairy tale experience.

Yelp
We recently lost our entire sum of money after the surf club refused to refund our money when our Wedding was cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions. If anyone is in a similar situation with the Surf Club on the Sound, and unable to receive their money back from a wedding during Covid-19, please email consumerinquiry134@gmail.com.

Yelp
We just held our son's baptism on the lower terrace at the Surf Club and it was amazing. George the Maitre'd was so amazing during the event. I arrived to the event later than I had anticipated and he jumped at helping me set up some of the last minute details. He even cut out flags for the cake pops! You could tell he had done a million of these events. Artie was so helpful beforehand--helping with linen choices, table arrangements and dessert selections. Tim the Chef was very accommodating to my guests with food allergies and the pastry chef was amazing. I showed him pictures of a cake and cookies I wanted and he recreated them perfectly. Plus they tasted amazing! When the event was over, the wait staff even packed up all my dishes and glassware! The last thing I wanted to do afterwards! I had many guests tell me they loved the space and the view and wanted to hold their next event here.

Yelp
This place could be a country club (unless it is one then I feel dumb haha). Coming in and looking over the gate you see the whole building lit up in white lights seemed so nice for this event. They had a parking lot on both sides with valet parking ready. The parking lot had a great amount of spots to place your cars. There was a fountain which had no water or nor was it turned on but the statue was pretty cool with four horses on the water area and a maiden over looking everything. The areas is pretty cool too. The town, even though not even that far away from the city seems so serene and nice. It felt like I was in a town away from any city life, like the towns you see in the movies when they go to Portland or some where in Montana. But this being in such a place feels almost out of whack haha. However, when you reach the back the openness almost brings this place to a halt. I came at night so I didn't really witness much, but they had something I wish I can say the name but I don't know what it is lol. I ask sorry but Brown weddings don't really consist of that lol. The thing is used for weddings all the time and it's where the bride and groom stand. Whatever it is called it looked really nice with the gold drawings all around the metal structure. It was placed perfectly in the middle with the whole beach in the background; and if the water acted as it does in the night that wave going back and forth would create such a nice sound during a wedding. PS- They even have a tennis courts available. Now the inside I mean it had to be beautiful since they hold events, but the amount of huge chandeliers they have are crazy lol. They have a piano right in the first floor in the middle of the room. It is what I call a ghost piano lol. I mean I know it runs automatic but still looked cool to see play a song without a hogan being there. There are two rooms in the front one with a small wide aquarium, and a couch with also some huge seats. The other room has a fire place with a 40-46 inch tv, could be less. This side has huge tables rather than huge seats lol. The ladies and the gentlemen's room are both right next to each other, and of course they have someone there to provide you hand towels and what not. They had on men side of course a small axe with some Vaseline and other toiletries. They had some peppermint candy too. The ball room is pretty big good enough I want to say for maybe two hundred, but that is my assumption due to the fact how such a big place should at least hold that much. They have a huge chandeliers of course in the middle of the room with various small chandeliers all around. They have good amount of strobe lights to mess with a person's eyes haha. They even have a pretty huge DJ station. The dance floor is pretty nice and decent size. Overall the place is worth having a venue in.

Yelp
My husband and I got married here in November. The good: 1 - the venue is beautiful. Due to it being cold and rainy I didnt get to take pictures outside but my groom did and those pics came out lovely. 2- My bridal attendant was THE BEST. She was so sweet and attentive. Unfortunately, she did let me know that it was her last week there. 3 - All my guests raved about the cocktail hour food. Most people were full off of cocktail hour and didnt even get to eat their dinner but they enjoyed the quality of the food served during that time. The UGLY: Leading up to the wedding, I was confident things would go great. Our assigned banquet manager was pleasant and I felt he was pretty helpful. The day before the wedding I asked him about the possibility of extending the time of the reception. He assured me I could make the decision any time the day of and gave me the pricing. The ceremony started 30 mins late due to issues with the shuttle transporting my family (stressful but it happens). After the ceremony, the wedding party went immediately to go take pictures. I could tell something was wrong with the photographer and assistant..what I've come to find out was that the Maitre D and apparently the banquet manager could be heard making snarky comments and they were rushing the photographers. (I was told this after prompting the photographers for their opinions and several people in the bridal party heard the comments themselves.) Again, due to the inclement weather, we really didnt have many options of areas we could take the group pictures other than the stairway but rather than assisting to help things go as smoothly as possible, they just added to the stress factor. When the time came for my groom and I to go to see the reception room for the first time, I cried because the backdrop vendor and florists had done such a beautiful job. Unfortunately, the moment was marred by the Maitre D screaming at the camera man and assistant to "hurry and stage them for their picture". The decor vendor was recording the capture our reaction and you can actually hear him yelling at everyone in the background of the video. When it was time to cut the cake, the Maitre D LITERALLY took the knife out of our hand and the cut the cake for us. We have it captured on video as well. Throughout the reception he could be spotted looking very annoyed. I've had guests remark on how unprofessional his behavior was...and Im not talking about 1 or 2 guests. At 9:55 EXACTLY (our scheduled end time would have been for 10pm) the lights were switched on. Everyone was confused. The DJ announced it was the last song. I looked up to see the Maitre D standing over him like a bouncer. No one came to tell me that I had 15mins left or to ask if I wanted to extend (WHICH I DID!) As the bride, things were hectic and I would think that the Maitre D would communicate in a more effective way to let me know what was going on but nope! We had a photo booth and the vendor was a nervous wreck because the Maitre D had apparently instructed her to start shutting down pretty early and "in an intimidating tone" but people were still lined up to take pictures so tried to rush people through. The staff were apparently instructed to lock up all the drinks in the bridal suite around 9:30. Interestingly enough, one of my bridesmaids was also planning to get married at the same venue in 2019 and had the same banquet manager. We immediately went to go and find him and speak to him. She told him that her fiance had also witnessed the unprofessional behavior and they were shocked and disgusted and unsure on whether they would keep the venue. The BM gave my husband and I two bottles of alcohol as an apology... After all the money we spent I find it so disheartening that we were treated the way we were. In the days that followed I got to hear more horror stories of the day from my vendors and guests. My vendors were quite shocked especially. Overall we still managed to have a good time with our loved ones but Im still extremely saddened by it all.

Yelp
Wow...where do I begin? My wedding was last weekend and I would have written this review the day after except we had to catch a flight to our honeymoon. I am absolutely amazed by the service we received at the Surf Club. I fell in love with the look of the Surf Club in 2008 when I attended my best friend's wedding. I returned to the venue 8 times after that for numerous weddings. Each time I was there, I was in love. The staircase leading to the top floor, the huge lavish chandelier hanging from the ceiling, the beach views behind the club and the fountains leading to the entrance of the club was picture perfect for a wedding. From 2008 til present, there have been many renovations and change in management...for the better. We spoke with Rick Dileo to talk about using Surf Club as a possible wedding venue. He was perfect from the minute we met him. He made EVERYTHING so easy to discuss. There was never a time he was too busy to discuss any of our concerns. He responded to emails, texts, and phone calls instantly. When we were unsure about anything, he calmed us down and supported any and every idea we had. He even spoke with family members and discussed any of the concerns they had. Any last minute changes we made, he was open to discussing them and helping us out in any way possible. From the day we met him in July up until the very end of our wedding reception, he was there to help us in any way possible. He truly made us feel like we were more than just a business transaction, he made us feel like we were family and he really cared. He won us over after meeting with him the first time, until the day of our wedding. On the day of our wedding, we were running late from the church ceremony. Rick and his crew were kind enough to extend the cocktail hour an extra half hour until the bridal party arrived. The place was absolutely stunning. Every staff member that helped us with our wedding was absolutely professional, kind, and truly made every guest feel delighted to be there. Our bridal suite was filled with food and drink ready for us to enjoy as soon as we entered. The bridal attendant was amazing. She truly attended to all of our needs. Every single demand was met that day, and everything that was promised to us was delivered and more. Our guests ranted and raved about our wedding all night to this very day. They said that the Surf Club on the Sound was the best wedding venue they have ever been to. The food was absolutely delicious. The cake and desserts were raved about for days. My brother and his fiancée who originally wanted a destination wedding in the Caribbean in December is now considering a New York wedding and using Surf Club on the Sound solely because of the service they saw on April 28, 2015. My only regret is that I didn't have the venue for longer; I wish it lasted for days! Thank you guys so much! Rick, you are amazing!! Thank you for everything you did for us! I would personally talk to anyone with questions about this venue if you have any doubts. That's how much I loved the venue. Please feel free to ask Rick for my email address.

Yelp
So I had to wait a couple of months to write this review. I got married Saturday June 4th and I'm truly unhappy with my wedding. I upgraded most of the things available to me, Venetian hour, extended cocktail hour, so it wasn't that we were skimming on things or getting the cheapest package. Before the wedding everything was great Charles was delightful, but then it came to the day of my wedding. I will say the good and bad because some things I perhaps did not follow through to the T, like getting to the venue earlier than I should have, but regardless after my beautiful church wedding, I did arrive a few minutes early. When arriving in our Lamborghini which I envisioned some great pictures, was I able to take any pics?Nope, not at all because it was a frekin zoo!!! We drove in to an absolute mad house, valet guys screaming because the previous party refused to leave and everyone was just staring at us trying to take pictures of our car. So my husband told me to just go inside, because he didn't want that to affect my mood. Walk in, bride is slouched on the couch either drunk or passed out, who knows. So yes the reason they hide brides is because they don't want them to see each other on their big day and yes this is for many valid reasons. And you're absolutely right!!! I didn't!! Then go upstairs to my bridal suite, however, the last wedding party didn't want to leave and they were belligerent and extremely drunk and all I heard was F .. Bombs being thrown everywhere. Keep in mind, it's 5pm. So walk in the suite and the place was filthy and on top of that, it was a very ghetto party and one of the bridesmaid was yelling and cursing and decided to curse me out! Great, absolutely every brides dream to get cursed out on their wedding. So at this point the attendants clearly see this and I was scooped out to the veranda. However, this did start my wedding off in a poor way and my mood after being cursed out, was starting to sink. When I finally got to the bridal suite again, it was wet and dirty. My gown immediately was filthy. The last party was so bad, that my bridal attendant couldn't even get to me till hours later. So THEN... Trying to continue the night as I was a bit sour, people tell me there was barely any cheese in the cheese platter, of course the party before ate it all. They couldn't find plates... Yup previous party probably ate those too!!! And finally sitting excited to see the montage that I worked and slaved over months to do, I mean finding pictures from the 80's... You could only imagine.. The second my montage starts.... FIREALARM STARTS RINGING!!!!!! Ohhh and not for a minute or two ... It DOESNT STOP!!! So at this point as any bride would... I cry!!! Soooo by the end of the night I'm trying to dance and salvage the little bit left of my wedding, am I dancing or having cigars from my cigar rollers, nope, I am running back and fourth handing favors to all my guest leaving. Charles said "Diana don't worry we will take care of it all for you!!!" Of course you did Charles!!! I spent the last hour of my wedding running back and fourth giving favors!!! Thank you!!! Money well spent!!! All in all, I felt used and abused... Oh wait there's more! After I met Charles and told him that my wedding was a nightmare and he surprisingly said Really??? He said fine don't tip the maitre D.. Money I held off on purpose because I wanted them to know I was mad... Not because I'm tacky and don't tip.. I'm a good tipper. However he said to withhold money from his employees who busted their behind because they decided to double book weddings on the same day. Yes I did not give an excellent tip for obvious reasons, but that was in such poor taste as a manager to say that. Instead of him saying you know what, let me compensate you for all the issues, as he told my MOH as the alarms were blaring in my ear through my montage which I spent months doing! No, he backed out of his promise to compensate me. As a bride who got married June 4th only a couple months ago!!!! Don't do it in a factory! Don't get married here. Get married somewhere where you will not have left overs and you will not have sloppy seconds!!! Also they treated my decorator poorly! All in all I ABSOLUTELY REGRET getting married here! This place is a wedding factory and it's about QUANTITY NOT QUALITY!!!!

Yelp
This is a beautiful place to host a special event. The views are amazing and there is an outside corridor. My work holiday party was hosted here two years in a row and I must say everyone was pleased on both occasions. It is very upscale and high end. They offer everything from catering to booking the DJ. Anything that you might need to make your event all the more simple.

Yelp
Just had our wedding at the Surf Club on 8/20 and it was the most spectacular experience! All our guests were blown away by the venue and the breathtaking view during the ceremony. Charles made sure everything leading up to the big day was such a smooth process. He was truly a pleasure to deal with. A huge thank you to Antonio (our maitre d') and Merrill (my bridal attendant) who both went above and beyond. Antonio made sure our wedding ran smoothly and took a lot of the "big day stress" off our shoulders. He was so pleasure to have. Within minutes of meeting Merrill she became my best friend. She was so much fun and so reassuring the entire day. EVERYBODY loved her great personality. Once again, big thanks to all the Surf Club staff for making our wedding magical!

Yelp
I cannot thank Sandro, Antonio, Brie and the rest of the Surf Club staff enough for making our wedding the best day of our lives. From the first day we looked at the venue to the night of the wedding, Sandro was so accommodating and made every thing we wanted happen. The day of the wedding, my bridal attendant, Brie, kept me updated on everything going on. She did anything I asked of her and made me feel so relaxed the entire day/night. Antonio was wonderful with keeping everything on schedule. He made sure to come find me and my husband if there was anything we needed to be doing or keeping us updated on the night. We really felt like they were part of our family. Not only is the staff fantastic, but the venue is gorgeous. We had our ceremony outside overlooking the Long Island Sound on the most perfect July day. The guests couldn't get enough of the views inside and outside of the venue. The quality and amount of food was absolutely amazing. They had everything you could possible want and all of it was delicious. There was so much food that the staff packed everything up for us to take home with us! Our guests are still talking about how great the food was! The Surf Club made our wedding the most perfect it could be and we are forever grateful to have worked with this amazing group of people.

Yelp
We had our wedding here in the lower ballroom and outdoor area on 5/17/14. While there was some rocky communication from the time we booked in May 2013 until the wedding day - which we came to find out was because our contact had left due to mismanagement and then returned when management changed hands - everything turned out wonderful! The food was amazing (and plentiful!), the grounds are beautiful, and the staff was wonderful. Rick DiLeo was our contact and coordinated everything from the time he returned through our wedding day, and was even there on our day to make sure everything went smooth. From setup to choosing amenities to the day itself, we couldn't have asked for anyone more accommodating, easygoing, and easy to work with. On wedding day, the entire of the staff (including our bridal attendant, Merrill, who was amazing) was also great, whether it was taking us around and showing us all of our outside setups before they were opened or accommodating both our earlier start time request and our early arrival for photographs. Our night flew by without a hitch of problem, which is something we were skeptical about after the initial problems we had. If you read reviews on the venue under its old name of The Surf Club, chances are you'll see a lot of negativity over the last couple years, but as someone who planned and dealt with them for more than a year, it seems like that was weeded out and The Surf Club on the Sound is back to being the top notch venue it seemed to be when I personally attended a couple weddings there years prior. I have to give 4 stars simply because we were caught in that early hubbub, but really, anyone starting from scratch now should have no problems.

Richard W.

Yelp
My husband and I had our wedding here on 10-8-16 in the afternoon. We had our ceremony outdoors. The venue itself is beautiful. We worked with Sandro who did a great job assisting us throughout the entire process. On the day of our wedding, our attendant Merrill did such an amazing job. She made sure both my husband and I were comfortable and had everything we needed. She also took care of our groom's party and our mothers very well. She even packed my mom some food that she liked to go home! We are a gay couple and felt very comfortable having our wedding here. Everyone worked out perfect, thank you Surf Club :).

Alina D.

Yelp
Where do I start with my review for the Surf Club. Its hard to put in to words how amazing everything turned out. We worked with Antonio from the very beginning for a year and half. He truly became like family. From the day we stepped in to the surf club we just knew this was the place we had to have our wedding. Antonio always responded to all my emails and concerns promptly and I felt that he truly went above and beyond for us. We could not be more grateful. Thank you Antonio and your team for making our day a dream come true. I would also like to add meryl our bridal attendant is truly the best!
