Surf Shack Burgers & Wings

We’ve had a lot of good in Costa Rica but for me this one was the very best. All of the other meals have kinda blended together in my memory but this one stands out! Seated facing the ocean with amazing prices, sweet caring service and awesome food…don’t miss this gem!!

Amazing burgers and milkshakes. Dont miss out. Nice view of the water + we even had some monkey swing by on the nearby telephone pole. Great atmosphere. Coming back for sure

Cool vibe spot. Burger was amazing. Caesar salad was ok-small but tasty. Chips/guac/salsa very good. We went since it was recommended as “good cheap eats” but prices are quite high for off-beach, burger shack menu. $57 usd for burger, Caesar salad, chips and a pina colada.

I love their food, especially the burgers are my favorite ones in town, and their fries to die for ! They have a play area for kids and a wonderful playground in the back of their property! My kids loved it 😍 so much that we celebrated his birthday at their restaurant once !

We have been coming here every trip, since 2015! Seems that this year (Jan/Feb 2025) the quality of some of the items has decreased. We have always loved the wings (boneless and bone-in) and especially the fries and shakes!! The shakes are still the bomb, so go get one. The fries and boneless wing quality has gone way down. Seems the fries are not "fresh cut" and if they are, they are reheated many times and are not good at all. I never throw fries out and eat the leftovers from others, but this year, I didn't even finish my own serving. The boneless wings, while you get a great amount of meat, the breading is way overcooked/burnt most times. Maybe the oil is way too hot and it burns the coating and doesn't cook the meat fast enough, so they have to leave them in longer. Anyway, the burgers are still great, so go ahead and check them out. Hopefully you will get some fresh fries too!!

Visited for the $1 wing Wednesday and wow what a wing they was! We had the boneless with hot and honey mustard they were huge with great flavour. We also had the fish tacos which were again very big portions and chips so we struggled to finish it all. The food was amazing all around. The lady serving was on her own and so busy. Almost every table had stuff to be cleared and it took her a while to serve us. I felt sorry more than anything but apart from this it was a great meal!

Great food, great location and great people! I visited Tamarindo in May 2024 and the Surf Shack quickly became my favorite place to eat and have a beer. The prices are very reasonable and the quality of the food was excellent. The staff was extremely friendly and personable which made the experience that much more enjoyable. I had an opportunity to meet the owners one morning and they were so nice to me. Everyone there is so friendly! I tried the bacon cheeseburger, the cheese steak, a salad with chicken and wings across multiple visits during the 2 weeks I was there. And definitely some of the best price vs. quantity I found. I was always having to take the extras to go. Cheaper beer prices compared to the neighboring restaurants. It was consistently great each and every time. I definitely recommend getting lunch there and then taking a walk on the beach. Writing this review has me ready for a return visit for a burger and an Imperial!

We stopped in for lunch after spending the morning on the beach. As you can imagine the place is decorated with surf boards and license plates. They have a great view of the ocean depending where you sit. We ordered the Blue Burger and the Fish and Chips, however we got the Blue Burger and Cheese Steak sandwich which turned out to be an excellent mistake. The cheese Steak was absolutely delicious and the Blue Burger was just as good. The staff was friendly and very attentive. Overall, we had an excellent dining experience. We will be back to try the fish and chips another day. We returned and tried the wings and chesse burger. They were both delicious. 😋
